        Overhead crane systems are widely used for material transportation in many industrial fields. However, undesired swing can always be found during the moving progress, especially at the end location of the transport. The swing may increase the carrying time and cause safety problems. In order to achieve the target position, this paper used a PD controller and used a fuzzy controller to reduce swing angles found during the moving progress. The performance of controller was verified through the experimental results and the simulation results by MATLAB.

      • 고령자의 근력 및 전신이동능력과 일상생활의 주관적인 활동능력과의 관련성 분석

        The purpose of this study were (1) to determine the changes in functional fitness with aging, and (2) to assess the relationship of muscular strength and locomotion ability with subjective functional fitness. The subjects were 479 Korean women(65+ years) living in Seoul, Taegu, and Jinju cities. Korea. The average age was 72.0±4.8. Thirteen objective functional fitness items and 11 subjective functional fitness questionnaire items associated with their daily living were measured. Results of data analysis indicated that the muscular strength and locomotion ability decreased considerably with aging. The relationship between the objective functional fitness and the subjective functional fitness was significant in 10 items. It is suggested that maintenance and promotion of muscular strength and locomotion ability may be important in order to raise the level of independence in daily living of older Korean women.

        성인의 급성 심장사에서 정상 심장례의 분석

        The authors analysed 53 cases of sudden cardiac death(SCD) without prominent structural abnormalies of heart out of witnessed 300 cases. Thirty four cases were associated with sleep and 19 with activity or rest. Twenty one cases were classified as having normal hearts, and the rest as structurally mild abnormal ones. Male was predominant, and almost of the victims were suffered in their twenties or thirties. All cases collapsed instantaneously or in very short time with various and not specific terminal symptoms. Inducing or trigger factors are not clarified in almost of the cases. Mechanisms or causes of death could not be defined clearly. We concluded that careful heart examination with detailed clinical history under the appropriate postmortem investigation system is only effective approach for the true mechanism and cause of death.

        우울성 가성치매

        Seven patients with depressive pseudodementia (4 males and 3 females) were reviewed. Their age ranged from 34 to 73 in year, with no specific preponderance. Development of pseudodementia seems to be related to major depression, either with psychotic features or with melancholia, rather than to the depressed state of bipolar disorder. Important cognitive dysfunctions were in short-term and recent memory, orientation for time, and concentration. Electroconvulsive treatment resulted in favorable outcome even in resistant patients to pharmacotherapy. Dexamethasone suppression test is not thought as valuable in the diagnosis of depressive pseudodementia.

        The recent motor control technologies require faster and more accurate control performance. In order to cope with this, the modern control theory yields excellent control performance. But modern control algorithm needs fast compution speed. Digital signal processors(DSP) are a very attractive means for the implementation of control algorithms, mainly because of computing speed. Therefore, the DSP is suitable for implementing sophisticated control algorithms that have been discarded for decades due to insufficient computation speed. This paper proposes LQ servo algorithm for DC motor speed control using DSP.

        Heat stroke is a life-threatening illness characterized by an elevated core body temperature that rises above 40% and central nervous system dysfunctions that results in delirium, convulsions, or coma. Heat stroke is subdivided into two forms, classic and exertional. Since strenuous exercise is one of the major exacerbating and precipitating factors, the incidence of exertional heat stroke is high among young adult, especially military personnel undergoing military training. Exertional heat stroke commonly causes rhabdomyolysis, lactic acidosis, acute renal failure, shock and pulmonary edema. We report a case of heat stroke with rhabdomyolysis, acute renal failure, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy(DIC) after strenuous exercise. A 18 year old man was admitted to the hospital because of loss of consciousness. He was a wrestler and he had tried to lose 6kg in weight by jogging and strenuous exercise on that summer day with hot temperature. The development of this illness was favoured by much clothes inappropriate for that environmental condition with a purpose to enhance sweating, and by restricted intake of water and food. On admission, the blood pressure was 80/50mmHg, and body temperature was 39.4℃ with stuporous mentality. Laboratory finding were as follows : in complete blood cell count, hemoglobin was 16.7g/dL and platelet count was 158,000/ mm³. In blood chemistry, AST 1061U/L, ALT 201U/L, BUN 30mg/dL, Cr 2.2mg/dL, LDH 941IU/L, CK 696IU/L were resulted. In arterial blood gas analysis, pH 7.39, pCO₂ 30mmHg pO₂ 86mmHg, HCO₃ 18.4mEq/L, O₂ saturation 96.7% were resulted. In urinalysis, specific gravity 1.025, protein 3+, erythrocyte 2+ were resulted. In brain imaging study, brain CT finding was normal. After appropriate treatments with rapid cooling, hydration and supportive care, he improved with alert mental status. On 2nd hospital day, in laboratory result, thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy were appeared and renal insufficiency was aggravated. So he was treated with platelet concentrate and fresh frosen plasma for DIC, and enough hydration for appropriate urine volume preservation. After all, On 22nd hospital day, he fully recovered and discharged. Nowadays, with followed for some duration, he is wellbeing with no complications.

      • LQ서보제어기를 이용한 천정크레인 시스템의 위치 제어

        An overhead crane is commonly used in factories and dockyards. An overhead crane operation is manually accomplished by skilled operators. Usually, the skill of the operators is relied on to bring the load to its destination exactly and have it stationary at the end of the journey. Recently, the concept of automation is widely introduced in shipping and unloading operation using the overhead crane for the enhanced producity. In this paper, we reduced overhead cranes scale and objection for experimental purpose in lab. The controller for an overhead crane was designed using LQ-servo technicques and simulated by MATLAB. The performance of the controller was verified through the experiment results and the simulation walls by MATLAB.

        Mutation Frequency of Tradescantia (BNL Clone 4430) Stamen Hairs Exposed to Low Dose of Gamma Ray in the KAERI ${\gamma}$-Field

        For determination of mutation frequency induced by chronic irradiation of low dose gamma rays, Tradescarrfia clone 4430 was exposed to Co-60 ${\gamma}$ rays with different exposure rates from 3.6mR/day to 182R/day in or out of the Gamma Field at Kumkok Experiment Farm of KAERI. Somatic mutations based on pink mutant events of the stamen hair cells were clearly observed by the treatment. The pink mutant events were increased proportionally with increasing exposure rates of gamma ray except for relatively high dose rates of 105 R/day and 182 R/day, indicating saturation effect of mutation. The somatic pink mutations could be fairly detectable even in the low dose rate of 3.6mR/day. Therefore, this stamen hair system of Tradescantia clone 4430 seemed to be an reasonable test system for detecting mutability of low level irradiation. These results imply that artificial mutation induction in the fruit and ornamental trees could be expected in the ${\gamma}$-field. 자주달개비(Tradescantia) BNL clone 4430을 본 연구소 감마농장(${\gamma}$-field)에 거리별로 배치하고 ${\gamma}$-선을 3.6mR/day~182R/day의 선량율로 완조사시켜, 이 식물의 수술털에 나타나는 분홍색 체세포돌연변이를 대상으로 돌연변이의 출현율을 조사하는 한편 화기에 미치는 형태변화를 조사하였다. 분홍색 체세포돌연변이율은 22.2R/day의 선량율에서 수술털 1,000개당 85.81$\pm$6.45개로 가장 높았고, 이보다 높은 선량율에서는 오히려 변이율이 감소하여 포화선량효과를 초래하였다. 또한 3.6mR/day의 낮은 선량율체서도 이 체세포돌연변이율이 자연돌연변이율보다 증가하였음을 볼 수 있었으며 비교적 낮은 선량율 조사에서는 꽃, 수술, 수술털등의 형태적 변화가 없이 돌연 변이율만의 증가를 볼수가 있어 감마농장내에서 과수나 화목등 영년식물에 저선량의 완조사를 통해 체세포돌연변이의 유기가 가능할것으로 보이며, 한편 이 식물의 특성을 이용하여 저위 방사선에 의한 유전적변화를 탐지하는데에도 적절한 수단이 될 것 같다.

        Mizoribine Inhibits Production of Pro-inflammatory Cytokines and $PGE_2$ in Macrophages

        Background: Mizoribine (MZR) is an imidazole nucleoside isolated from Eupenicillium brefeldianum. MZR is currendy in clinical use for patients who have undergone renal transplantation. Therapeutic efficacy of MZR has also been demonstrated in rheumatoid arthritis and lupus nephritis. MZR has been shown to inhibit the proliferation or lymphocytes by interfering with inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase. Since the exact mechanism by which MZR benefits rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is not clear, we investigated the ability of MZR to direct its immunosuppressive influences on other antigen presenting cells, such as macrophages. Methods: Mouse macrophage RAW264.7 cells were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide in the presence of MZR. To elucidate the mechanism of the therapeutic efficacy in chronic inflammatory diseases, we examined the effects of MZR on the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin $E_2\;(PGE_2)$ in macrophages. Results: MZR dose-dependendy decreased the production of nitric oxide and pro- inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$), interleukins $1{\beta}$ (IL-${\beta}$ and IL-6 $PGE_2$. Examination of gene expression levels showed that the anti-inflammatory effect correlated with the down-regulation of inducible nitiric oxide synthase expression, cycloxygenase-2 expression and TNF-${\alpha}$ gene expression. Conclusion: In this work, we resulted whether MZR $(1.25{\sim}10{\mu}g/ml)$ inhibited macrophage activation by inhibiting secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, NO and $PGE_2$. These findings provide an explanation for the therapeutic efficacy of MZR in chronic inflammation-associated diseases.
