        Long-term outcomes of first-line treatment with doxycycline in patients with previously untreated ocular adnexal marginal zone B cell lymphoma.

        <P>Ocular adnexal lymphoma (OAL) has been associated with Chlamydophila psittaci infection, for which doxycycline has been suggested as a treatment option. We conducted this study to evaluate the long-term results of first-line doxycycline treatment in patients with OAL. Ninety patients with histologically confirmed OAL with marginal zone B cell lymphoma were enrolled. Each patient received one or two cycles of doxycycline (100 mg bid) for 3 weeks. After a median follow-up period of 40.5 months (8-85), the 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate was 60.9 %. All patients were alive at the last follow-up date. Thirty-one patients (34 %) showed local treatment failure without systemic spread. However, PFS rate in these patients was 100 % after salvage chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. PFS was independently predicted in multivariate analysis by the tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) staging (hazard ratio [HR], 4.35; 95 % confidence interval [CI], 2.03-9.32; P?<?0.001) and number of cycles of doxycycline (HR, 0.31; 95 % CI, 0.14-0.69; P?=?0.004). No serious adverse event was reported during doxycycline therapy. In conclusion, first-line doxycycline therapy was effective and safe. Patients who failed to respond to doxycycline therapy were successfully salvaged with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy without compromising long-term outcomes. Patients with T1N0M0 disease could be considered good candidates for first-line doxycycline.</P>

        Liver cancer is the 2nd most common cause of cancer related death in Korea. Especially, patients who present extrahepatic spread of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have a shorter life expectancy (50% survival at 1 year and less than 4 months of median overall survival). Molecular target agent like sorafenib was usually mentioned as a treatment for them, but that was still not firmly established. We present a 75 year-old who had expanding nodular type of HCC. The mass was removed by resection and radiofrequency ablation. However, lung metastasis were revealed shortly after surgery. That lesions were treated with lenvatinib and systemic chemotherapy.         자연과학분야: 20주간의 타이치운동이 퇴행성관절염 여성노인의 슬관절의 등속성 근력에 미치는 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 20주간의 타이치 운동프로그램이 퇴행성관절염을 가진 여성노인의 슬관절의 근력에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 본 연구는 U시에 소재한 경로당이용자 중 최근 6개월 이상 좌업생활을 한 퇴행성관절염 여성노인 16명을 대상으로 하여 운동군(n=8), 비운동군(n=8)으로 하였다. 운동군은 타이치 운동프로그램을 HRR 40~60%의 운동강도, 주 3회, 일일 60분간 20주간 실시하였다. 통제군은 운동 프로그램 기간 동안일상생활을 유지하도록 하였다. 운동전. 후 슬관절의 근력의 측정항목은 굴곡과 신전을 측정하였다. 집단간 차이검증은 사후에서 사전을 뺀 값에 대해 independent t-test로 분석하였다. 유의수준은 .05에서 실시하였다. 이상의 연구절차를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 타이치운동 후 슬관절의 굴곡, 신전시 근력변화를 살펴보면 운동군의 경우 왼쪽 슬관절 60º/sec 굴곡시, 신전시와 오른쪽 슬관절 300º/sec 신전시 사전, 사후에서 긍정적인 영향을 주었으며, 두 집단 간의 차이는 왼쪽과 오른쪽 슬관절 60º/sec, 왼쪽 슬관절 180º/sec, 왼쪽 슬관절300º/sec에서 긍정적인 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이상의 연구결과로 20주간의 타이치운동이 퇴행성관절염을 가진 노인여성의 슬관절 근력의 향상에 효과적인 운동임을 알 수 있었다. The Effects of 20-weeks tai-chi exercise program on the isokinetic muscle strength of elderly women. This study aims to examine if a 20-week tai-chi exercise program has an effect on the muscle strength of elderly women with degenerative arthritis. To this end, 16 elderly women with degenerative arthritis using a senior citizens' center located in U City who had worked sitting for the past six months were classified into exercise group(n=8) and non-exercise group (n=8). The data in this study was analyzed with a SPSS 18.0 statistics program to generate mean and standard deviation. Intergroup differences with an independent t-test at a significance level of .05. The conclusions of this study, the exercise program was found to have a positive effect on bending and extension of left knee joint at 60º/sec and extension of right knee joint at 300º/sec of exercise group both before and after the exercise:. In regards to intergroup differences, the exercise program was found to have a positive effect on knee joint of both sides at 60º/sec, left knee joint at 180º/sec, and left knee joint at 300º/sec. These findings indicate that the 20-weeks tai-chi exercise program is effective to improve muscle strength of knee joint of elderly women with degenerative arthritis.

        탄성밴드 운동이 경도인지장애 고령여성의 치매척도 및 심혈관계 위험 인자에 미치는 영향

        This study aims to examine whether elastic band exercise influences aged women with mild cognitive impairment(MCI) with the dementia-related gene(Apo e4) in terms of their dementia rating, and cardiovascular risk factors. As the subjects of this paper, selected 34 aged women with MCI with Apo e4 among the aged women living in nursing facilities. They are divided into two groups through random assignment. The exercise program is conducted for total 12 weeks, in the intensity of HRR 40 to 60%, 3 times a week, and for 60 minutes a day. As the variables to be measured, their dementia scale are measured, and among the cardiovascular risk factors(TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C) are measured. For the data processing, the study employs Two-way ANOVA and analyzed its effects by periods and groups. Regarding the interactive effects, the main effect post-test is performed as paired t-test. About their change in terms of dementia rating and by items, the exercise group gains a higher point in the dementia rating test. And there is significant difference in their orientation of time, linguistic ability, memory storing ability, and linguistic delay and recalling ability. About their cardiovascular risk factors’ change, TG and LDL-C are significantly reduced. In conclusion, the elastic band exercise plays critical roles in aged women with MCI with Apo e4 in terms of their functional fitness, dementia rating, and cardiovascular risk factors. Thus, it is concluded to helpfully play better roles in delaying the speed of their transfer from MCI to Alzheimer’s and also preventing dementia as well.

      • Self-powered wearable touchpad composed of all commercial fabrics utilizing a crossline array of triboelectric generators

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In the internet of things (IoT) era, electronic textile (E-textile), which combines diverse functional parts on a fabric substrate, has attracted much attention. Among the various components for E-textile, the human-machine interface device is one of the most important. Here, a wearable fabric touchpad based on a triboelectric generator (TEG) is demonstrated. It is created only with inexpensive commercialized fabrics. Long string-shaped fabric TEGs act as the rows and columns of a crossline array, and each cross-point of a unit cell at each row and column constructs a unit pixel. The proposed touchpad accurately traces basic motions such as the vertical tapping and lateral dragging of a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) stylus and generates corresponding output signals. Based on this capability, the proposed touchpad can be utilized for the handwriting of digits and for their recognition as well. Digits from 0 to 9 written on the touchpad are successfully classified by a pre-trained neural network with very high accuracy of 98%. This implies that the proposed wearable touchpad has immediate practicality. Considering its cost-effectiveness, compatibility with the textile industry, and its accurate operation, the proposed touchpad is a strong candidate for use in interface devices in the future E-textile industry.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A self-powered wearable touchpad was demonstrated using a fabric-based TEG array. </LI> <LI> Only cheap commercialized fabrics were employed for the general usage. </LI> <LI> Basic touchpad operation was experimentally verified. </LI> <LI> A digit recognition program was integrated to the proposed touchpad. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        디지털 포렌식의 기술 동향과 전망

        디지털 포렌식(Digital Forensics)은 법정 제출용 디지털 증거를 수집하여 분석하는 기술을 말하며 인권을 강조하는 요즘 IT 관련 기관과 기업을 중심으로 많은 관심이 집중되고 있다. 디지털 증거 수집 및 분석 과정은 기술적으로 복잡하고 난해하여 분석가의 전문성에 의해 증거의 무결성과 신뢰성이 결정된다. 디지털 증거 수집 및 분석 과정의 수준향상을 위해 IT 분야에서 많은 전문가의 참여와 디지털 포렌식의 고급기술에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 포렌식의 개요, 디지털 포렌식 도구의 소개, 디지털 포렌식 절차를 설명하고, 마지막으로 결론에서 디지털 포렌식 산업 육성 방안, 디지털 포렌식 전문 인력 양성 방안, 디지털 포렌식의 전망에 대하여 제시한다. 현재 국내외에서 활발히 수행되고 있는 디지털 포렌식 기술은 향후 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경을 지향하는 IT 분야에서 핵심 기술로서 인식되고 있으며, 또한 새로운 포렌식 기술에 대한 연구 개발이 더욱 체계적이고 활발히 수행됨으로써 새로운 비즈니스 영역도 창출될 수 있을 것이다. 그리고 첨단 과학기술을 이용하는 디지털 포렌식은 사법기관의 인권 보호와 사법 정의 구현에도 크게 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

      • Degussa P25 TiO<sub>2</sub> modified with H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> under microwave treatment to enhance photocatalytic properties

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We report a facile and effective low-temperature modification method for improving the photocatalytic activity of commercial Degussa P25 TiO<SUB>2</SUB>. The method involves the microwave treatment of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> in an H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> solution. The properties of the modified TiO<SUB>2</SUB>, including improved crystallinity, size distribution, and aggregation of the anatase/rutile phases, were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Further, we found that Ti<SUP>3+</SUP> and Ti-OH were formed because of the presence of H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>. Moreover, the valence band (VB) edge was determined by Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies. In addition, photoluminescence (PL) measurements showed that the surface defects in the modified P25 affected the hole–electron recombination rate. UV–vis spectroscopy measurements show various size distribution and band gap effects after the simple modification process, and the photocatalytic activity was determined using the degradation of Rhodamine 6G (R6G). From these results, the degradation efficiency under solar and UV irradiation were measured to be 94 and 51% for modified P25 and be 47 and 25% for unmodified P25, respectively. The modified P25 showed twice the photocatalytic performance of the unmodified P25. The enhancement in the photocatalytic efficiency of modified P25 is correlated to the formation of surface defects, such as Ti<SUP>3+</SUP> and Ti-OH, the size distribution, and the re-aggregation of the anatase/rutile phases.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Improving photocatalytic property with modified P25 TiO<SUB>2</SUB>. </LI> <LI> Producing mid-bandgap due to surface defects and re-aggregation of anatase/rutile phase. </LI> <LI> Surface defects reduce re-combination time of electron-hole. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
