Scanning tunneling microscopy is a powerful tool to characterize the electronic and magnetic properties of atomic scale structures on a surface. Recent advances in increasing energy resolutions have been achieved functionalizing the STM tip by a well-characterized molecule [1,2] or integrating electron spin resonance with STM (ESR-STM) [3]. We present the design and performance of home-built STM with high frequency cabling, which is incorporated with a Joule-Thomson refrigerator and 2-axes vector magnets. Applying high frequency (microwave) electric fields to the STM junction through 50 Ohm coaxial cables causes significant loss of insertion power due to the impedance mismatch at the STM junction of ~1 GOhm, which limits the frequency range of applicable microwaves. To overcome this limitation, we introduced a microwave antenna and terminated the cable at 50 Ohm. Applying microwaves to the antenna rather than the STM tip allows us to reduce the formation of standing waves as well as to increase the transmission. Our work shows using the specially designed mechanical damper and optimizing the electrical noise levels provide the outstanding performance of STM for the single atom ESR experiment.

Background and Objectives: A novel multipulse mode has been developed for the Q-switched 1,064 nm Nd:YAG laser (Q-NYL) which may help prevent rebound pigmentation after laser toning for melasma. The present study compared the depigmentation efficacy and latency of single pulse and multipulse modes over a range of fluences using the zebrafish model.Materials and Methods: Ninety zebrafish were equally allocated to 9 groups to compare a Q-NYL single pulse mode (QS) using a 7 mm collimated handpiece with double- (PTP), triple- (Q3) and quadruple- (Q4) pulse modes over a range of fluences. Timing and degree of repigmentation were analyzed at the 14- and 49-day post-treatment assessments in each group using light microscopy-captured microphotography with image analysis and a Student’s t-test.Results: There was an attrition rate of around 1 zebrafish per group per assessment, leaving a minimum of 3 animals per group for the final assessment. All zebrafish showed significant pigment removal at the 2-week assessment (p < 0.01 to < 0.0001). However, the best result among all groups with a significantly longer pigment-free latency period at the 7-week assessment was obtained in the Q4 4 × 0.3 J/cm2/micropulse group, delivering the equivalent in the skin of 1.2 J/cm2 (p < 0.0001 at 2 weeks, p < 0.01 at 7 weeks).Conclusion: The quadruple pulse mode of Q-NYL laser toning demonstrated effective, safe and long-term repigmentation-free efficacy in the zebrafish model, suggesting potential translation to controlled and double-blind studies on melasma in human patients.
A Study on the Diffusion Strategies of Wood Culture Using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)

The diffusion strategies of wood culture were established using the analytic hierarchy process, to prepare a diffusion plan of wood culture and wood utilization in response to climate change due to global warming. ‘Standardization of wood culture’, ‘Valuation of wood culture’, and ‘Habituation of wood culture’ were set as three major implementation strategies and priorities were evaluated. As a result, it was analyzed in the following order: ‘Development of systematic education programs for each age group for rational and efficient use of eco-friendly wood materials and development of wood education standard guidelines linked to the curriculum’, ‘Preparation of scientific basis data on human compatibility and eco-friendliness of wood to ensure the reliability of wood and wood products’, and ‘Establishment of monitoring and improvement plan through the designation as a model school’. Through this, it was determined that an educational environment, changes in public attitudes through publicity, and expanding opportunities to use wood and wood products were necessary for wood culture diffusion. The results of this study can be used as basic data to derive the diffusion strategies of wood culture and establish a roadmap and policy implementation strategy to revitalize wood culture.

Quantum dots (QDs) exhibit varying light absorption efficiencies and carrier lifetimes depending on their band structure. Specifically, QDs with type I band alignment offer high light absorption efficiency but have a short carrier lifetime. Conversely, QDs with type II band alignment provide a longer carrier lifetime but lower light absorption efficiency. Therefore, optimizing these material properties is crucial for enhancing the performance of QD phototransistors. TCAD calculations indicate that a pnp bipolar junction transistor with QDs in the base region shows different device performance based on the band alignment of the QDs. The results demonstrate that a QD phototransistor with type I band alignment QDs yields a higher collector current under comparable operating conditions. Furthermore, increasing the carrier lifetime of type I band alignment QDs could further improve device performance.

태양광 발전 시스템에서 발전 효율 향상을 위해 태양전지 어레이의 집광 각도 제어가 필수적 인데 집광 각도 제어 방식에는 광센서에 의한 추적 방식과 천문학적 추적 방식이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 영상처리를 이용한 광 추적 방식 알고리즘을 제안하며 천문학적 추적방식과 광센서 추적 방식을 혼용 하여 사용할 경우 날씨정보를 이용하여 운영 하는 방법을 제안한다.
Protocol for the Observation of the Primo Vascular System in the Lymph Vessels of Rabbits

Molecular-level understanding of the structure and the functions of the lymphatic system has greatly enhanced the importance of this second circulation system, especially in connection with cancer metastasis and inflammation. Recently, a third circulatory system, the primo vascular system (PVS) was found in various parts of an animal’s body, especially as threadlike structures floating in the lymphatic flow in lymph vessels. Although the medical significance of this emerging system will require much work in the future, at present, several important suggestions in connection with immune cells, stem cells, and cancer metastasis have already appeared. Experiments to observe the PVS in the lymph vessels near the caudal vena cava of rabbits and rats have been performed by several independent teams, but reproduction requires considerable skill and technical know-how. In this article, we provide a detailed protocol to detect the PVS inside the lymph vessels of a rabbit. Detection and isolation are the first steps in unraveling the physiological functions of the PVS, which awaits intensive research.
