Improvement of Scanlan’s Nonlinear Model based on Residual Analysis

        Jingwen Yan,Xiaoxia Tian,Qi Zhou,Yanchun Yang 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.1

Scanlan’s semi-empirical nonlinear model has been widely applied in bridge engineering because of its simplicity. However, it is based on the oscillation displacement, and thus it fails to describe the Vortex-induce Vertical Force (VIVF) on a flat closed-box bridge deck. In the study, in order to better depict VIVFs, a new improved model was proposed. First, the residual of the Vortexinduced Vertical Force (VIVF) is regular and maintains the significant quadratic relation with the VIVF reconstructed by Scanlan’s model, which means Scanlan’s model needs to be improved by adding quadratic terms. Second, an appropriate quadratic term was a dot product of dimensionless displacement and velocity, because this term has a significant linear relation with the reconstructed VIVF in the residual plot, and is independent of the other terms in Scanlan’s model. Furthermore, in lock-in range, the maximum oscillation displacement of a blunt body at different wind speeds was predicted by the proposed model. Simulation results showed that the proposed model is suitable for describing the nonlinearity of the VIVF and well fit the measured data. Due to simplicity, validity, and parameters to be easily identified, the proposed model has potential application in engineering.

Wear Behavior of P/M High Nb Containing γ-TiAl Alloy in Different Environments

        Jingwen Qiu,Zhengfan Fu,Bin Liu,Yong Liu,Jianhui Yan,Di Pan,Weidong Zhang 대한금속·재료학회 2019 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.25 No.6

The wear behavior of Ti–45Al–7Nb–0.3W (at%) alloy prepared by powder metallurgy (P/M) has been investigated using pinon-disk wear tests at the room temperature. The dry sliding wear tests were performed against on a zirconia disk in differentenvironments, viz, argon, hydrogen in nitrogen mixture, air and oxygen. The worn surfaces of Ti–45Al–7Nb–0.3W pins andwear debris were examined by scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was found that the high Nb containing Ti–45Al–7Nb–0.3W alloy didn’t exhibit better wear resistance in the presence ofoxygen than commercial γ-TiAl (Ti–47Al–2Nb–2Cr–0.2W) alloy. The oxidation on the worn surface and spalling of oxidescaused by the mechanical force during sliding were the main reason for the high wear losses in the air and oxygen. Thezirconia disk underwent a phase transformation caused by the high contact temperature and stress during the sliding tests. The abrasive particles produced in the wear tests largely consisted of the zirconia particles in different environments, exceptin the pure oxygen. The hard zirconia debris was embedded into the friction layer on the worn surfaces of TiAl pins, whichprovided protection against wear to some extent. The main wear mechanisms of Ti–45Al–7Nb–0.3W alloy were abrasivewear of two-body and three-body, some delamination and plastic deformation.

Circ_0075960 targets the miR-202-5p/CTNND1 axis to promote the growth and migration of endometrial carcinoma cells via regulating Wnt/β-catenin signaling activity

        Yan Nian,Xiaorong Li,Jingwen Ma,Ting Gao,Dan Liu 대한부인종양학회 2023 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.34 No.1

Background: Endometrial carcinoma (EC) is one of the most common malignant tumors of the female reproductive tract, involving multiple molecular alterations. Circular RNA (circRNA) dysregulation is frequently observed in EC tissues, suggesting the involvement of circRNA in EC development. We aimed to investigate the role of circ_0075960 in EC. Methods: Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and western blot assays were applied for expression analysis. CCK-8, EdU, colony formation, flow cytometry and wound healing assays were employed for functional analysis. The predicted binding relationship between miR-202-5p and circ_0075960 or CTNND1 was validated by dual-luciferase reporter experiment. In vivo animal models were constructed in nude mice to verify the role of circ_0075960 in tumor growth. Results: Circ_0075960 and CTNND1 were upregulated, while miR-202-5p was downregulated in EC. Knockdown of circ_0075960 induced EC cell apoptosis, suppressed cell proliferation and migration, and repressed tumor growth in animal models. MiR-202-5p was targeted by circ_0075960 and it directly bound to CTNND1 3’UTR. The inhibition of circ_0075960 knockdown or miR-202-5p enrichment on EC cell proliferation and migration was reversed by miR-202-5p depletion or CTNND1 overexpression, respectively. Circ_0075960 targeted miR-202-5p to positively regulate CTNND1 expression. Moreover, circ_0075960 knockdown weakened the activity of Wnt/β-catenin signaling via targeting the miR-202-5p/CTNND1 axis. Conclusion: Circ_0075960 targets the miR-202-5p/CTNND1 axis to modulate Wnt/β-catenin signaling activity, thus contributing to the malignant development of EC.

Driving safety analysis of various types of vehicles on long-span bridges in crosswinds considering aerodynamic interference

        Yan Han,Jingwen Huang,C.S. Cai,Suren Chen,Xuhui He 한국풍공학회 2019 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.29 No.4

Strong winds threaten the safety of vehicles on long-span bridges considerably, which could force traffic authorities to reduce speed limits or even close these bridges to traffic. In order to maintain the safe and economic operation of a bridge, a reasonable evaluation of the driving safety on that bridge is needed. This paper aims at carrying outdriving safety analyses for three types of vehicles on a long-span bridge in crosswinds by considering the aerodynamic interference between the bridge and the vehicles based on the wind-vehicle-bridge coupling vibration analysis. Firstly, CFD numerical simulations along with previously obtained wind tunnel testing results were used to determine the aerodynamic force coefficients of the three types of vehicles on the bridge. Secondly, the dynamic responses of the bridge and the vehicles under crosswinds were simulated, and based on those, the driving safety analyses for the three types of vehicles on the bridge were carried out for both cases considering and not considering the aerodynamic interference between the vehicles and the bridge. Finally, the effect of the aerodynamic interference on the safety of the vehicles was investigated. The results show that the aerodynamic interference between the bridge and the vehicles not only affects the accident critical wind speed but also the accident type for all three types of vehicles. Such effects are also different for each of the three types of vehicles being studied.

Tunable paclitaxel release carrier using diselenide-disulfide balance as regulator

        Jingwen Xu,Xiangji Yan,Yue Zhang,Kangsheng Tu,Wen Shen,Zhaoqing Tian,Guoliang Li,Wei Zhao,Mingzhen Zhang 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.109 No.-

There are many reasons that lead to the failure of cancer chemotherapy, such as uncontrolled drugrelease, low drug utilization, and severe side effects. To overcome these obstacles, two kinds of thermaland redox-responsive copolymers with multiple diselenide/disulfide linkages, polyethylene glycol -altdiselenodipropionate/disulfhydryldipropionate-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (abbreviated as PEG-alt-DSeDP-b-PNIPAM and PEG-alt-DSDP-b-PNIPAM) were fabricated by alternative esterification and followingatom transfer radical polymerization. Afterward, these prepared copolymers were mixed in line withthe mass ratio of 8:0, 5:3, 3:5, 0:8 (denoted as S1, S2, S3, and S4, respectively), and self-assembled withpaclitaxel (PTX) to obtain PTX-loaded S1, S2, S3, and S4 nanomicellar assemblies, aiming to realize PTXtunable release using diselenide-disulfide balance as regulator. The chemical structures of these twocopolymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography, indicating eight diselenide/disulfidelinkages and eight PEG units were contained in these copolymers. Moreover, the thermal-responsiveproperty was detected by UV–vis spectroscopy, meanwhile, the redox responsiveness was observed byTEM in the presence of 10 mM glutathione. We found that 76.90% of PTX was released from S1 nanomicelleswithin 23 h. In contrast, this percentage decreased to 64.53% for S4 nanomicelles even the incubationtime prolonged, indicating explosive and slow release behaviors of S1 and S4 nanomicelles, respectively. In addition, gradually decreased fluorescence intensity around the cellular nucleus wasoccurred from S1 to S4 orderly, which was consistent with cellular uptake and in vivo anti-tumor experiments. Taken together, this work not only provides a strategy for tunable PTX release, but also improveseffectiveness of PTX in cancer treatment.

Single Low-Light Ghost-Free Image Enhancement via Deep Retinex Model

( Yan Liu ),( Bingxue Lv ),( Jingwen Wang ),( Wei Huang ),( Tiantian Qiu ),( Yunzhong Chen ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2021 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.15 No.5

Low-light image enhancement is a key technique to overcome the quality degradation of photos taken under scotopic vision illumination conditions. The degradation includes low brightness, low contrast, and outstanding noise, which would seriously affect the vision of the human eye recognition ability and subsequent image processing. In this paper, we propose an approach based on deep learning and Retinex theory to enhance the low-light image, which includes image decomposition, illumination prediction, image reconstruction, and image optimization. The first three parts can reconstruct the enhanced image that suffers from low-resolution. To reduce the noise of the enhanced image and improve the image quality, a super-resolution algorithm based on the Laplacian pyramid network is introduced to optimize the image. The Laplacian pyramid network can improve the resolution of the enhanced image through multiple feature extraction and deconvolution operations. Furthermore, a combination loss function is explored in the network training stage to improve the efficiency of the algorithm. Extensive experiments and comprehensive evaluations demonstrate the strength of the proposed method, the result is closer to the real-world scene in lightness, color, and details. Besides, experiments also demonstrate that the proposed method with the single low-light image can achieve the same effect as multi-exposure image fusion algorithm and no ghost is introduced.

Combined analysis and miRNA expression profiles of the flowering related genes in common wild rice (oryza rufipogon Griff.)

        Jiao Wang,Yan Long,Jingwen Zhang,Mande Xue,Gege Huang,Ke Huang,Qianhua Yuan,Xinwu Pei 한국유전학회 2018 Genes & Genomics Vol.40 No.8

Common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) is the most closely related ancestral species to Asian cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.). It contains various valuable traits with regard to tolerance to cold, drought and salinity, flowering diversity and many quantitative trait loci with agronomic important traits. Flowering is one of the most important agronomic traits. However, flowering-related transcriptome and how to be regulated by miRNAs have not been estimated in O.rufipogon. To identify how the genes and miRNAs regulating flowering in O.rufipogon. Three O.rufipogon RNA libraries, two vegetative stages (CWRT-V1 and CWRT-V2) and one flowering stage (CWRT-F2) were constructed using leaves tissue and sequenced using Illumina deep sequencing. 27,405, 27,333, 28,979 unique genes were obtained after mapping to the reference genome from CWRT-V1, CWRT-V2 and CWRT-F2, respectively. Then differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened and got 1419 unique genes are likely to involve in flower development. Detailed information showed that MADS box and floral meristem identity genes, such as MADS 1, MADS14, Hd1 are involved in common wild rice. Then, combined analysis of miRNA and mRNA expression profiles was performed. Twenty three known miRNA-mRNA pairs and five new candidates were presented an anti-correlationship. Interestingly, 12 miRNAs were negatively correlated with 20 mRNAs encoding flowering-related proteins, indicating that miRNAs regulated target genes to promote flowering in CWRT-F2 group. The results provided here genomic resources for flowering related genes and how these flowering genes were regulated by miRNAs in common wild rice.

Cellular Traffic Offloading through Opportunistic Communications Based on Human Mobility

( Zhigang Li ),( Yan Shi ),( Shanzhi Chen ),( Jingwen Zhao ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.3

The rapid increase of smart mobile devices and mobile applications has led to explosive growth of data traffic in cellular network. Offloading data traffic becomes one of the most urgent technical problems. Recent work has proposed to exploit opportunistic communications to offload cellular traffic for mobile data dissemination services, especially for accepting large delayed data. The basic idea is to deliver the data to only part of subscribers (called target-nodes) via the cellular network, and allow target-nodes to disseminate the data through opportunistic communications. Human mobility shows temporal and spatial characteristics and predictability, which can be used as effective guidance efficient opportunistic communication. Therefore, based on the regularity of human mobility we propose NodeRank algorithm which uses the encounter characteristics between nodes to choose target nodes. Different from the existing work which only using encounter frequency, NodeRank algorithm combined the contact time and inter-contact time meanwhile to ensure integrity and availability of message delivery. The simulation results based on real-world mobility traces show the performance advantages of NodeRank in offloading efficiency and network redundant copies.

Activation of the wnt/β-Catenin Signaling Pathway in Polymyositis, Dermatomyositis and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

        Fuchen Liu,Zonglai Liang,Jingwen Xu,Wei Liu,Dandan Zhao,Yuying Zhao,Chuanzhu Yan 대한신경과학회 2016 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.12 No.3

Background and PurposezzTe wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway plays a critical role in embryonic development and adult-tissue homeostasis. Recent investigations implicate the importance of wnt/β-catenin signaling in normal wound healing and its sustained activation being associated with fbrogenesis. We investigated the immunolocalization and activation of wnt/β-catenin in polymyositis (PM), dermatomyositis (DM), and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). MethodszzImmunofuorescence staining and Western blot analysis of β-catenin were performed in muscle specimens from 6 PM, 8 DM, and 6 DMD subjects. Te β-catenin/Tcf4 DNA-binding activity in muscle was studied using an electrophoretic mobility shif assay (EMSA), and serum wnt/β-catenin/Tcf transcriptional activity was measured using a luciferase reporter gene assay. ResultszzImmunoreactivity for β-catenin was found in the cytoplasm and nuclei of muscle fbers in PM, DM, and DMD. Te protein level of β-catenin was elevated, and EMSA analysis confrmed the activation of wnt/β-catenin signaling. Te transcriptional activities of β-catenin/ Tcf in the circulation were increased in patients with PM, DM, and DMD, especially in those with interstitial lung disease, and these transcriptional activities decreased when PM or DM patients exhibited obvious clinical improvements. ConclusionszzOur fndings indicate that wnt/β-catenin signaling is activated in PM, DM, and DMD. Its activation in muscle tissue and the circulation may play a role in modulating muscle regeneration and be at least partly involved in the process of muscle and pulmonary fbrosis.
