Activated Protein C Protects Myocardium Via Activation of Anti-apoptotic Pathways of Survival in Ischemia-reperfused Rat Heart

        Jia-Wang Ding,Xiao-Hong Tong,Jun Yang,Zhao-Qi Liu,Yan Zhang,Jian Yang,Song Li,Li Li 대한의학회 2010 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.25 No.11

Activated protein C (APC) is known to be beneficial on ischemia reperfusion injury in myocardium. However, the protection mechanism of APC is not fully understood. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects and possible mechanisms of APC on myocardial ischemic damage. Artificially ventilated anaesthetized Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to a 30 min of left anterior descending coronary artery occlusion followed by 2 hr of reperfusion. Rats were randomly divided into four groups; Sham, I/R, APC preconditioning and postconditioning group. Myocardial infarct size, apoptosis index, the phosphorylation of ERK1/2, Bcl-2, Bax and cytochrome c genes and proteins were assessed. In APC-administrated rat hearts, regardless of the timing of administration, infarct size was consistently reduced compared to ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) rats. APC improved the expression of ERK1/2 and anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 which were significantly reduced in the I/R rats. APC reduced the expression of pro-apoptotic genes, Bax and cytochrome c. These findings suggest that APC produces cardioprotective effect by preserving the expression of proteins and genes involved in anti-apoptotic pathways, regardless of the timing of administration.

Improvement of lower hybrid current drive systems for high-power and long-pulse operation on EAST

        Wang M.,Liu L.,Zhao L.M.,Li M.H.,Ma W.D.,Hu H.C.,Wu Z.G.,Feng J.Q.,Yang Y.,Zhu L.,Chen M.,Zhou T.A.,Jia H.,Zhang J.,Cao L.,Zhang L.,Liang R.R.,Ding B.J.,Zhang X.J.,Shan J.F.,Liu F.K.,Ekedahl A.,Gonich 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.11

Aiming at high-power and long-pulse operation up to 1000 s, some improvements have been made for both 2.45 GHz and 4.6 GHz lower hybrid (LH) systems during the recent 5 years. At first, the guard limiters of the LH antennas with graphite tiles were upgraded to tungsten, the most promising material for plasma facing components in nuclear fusion devices. These new guard limiters can operate at a peak power density of 12.9 MW/m2 . Strong hot spots were usually observed on the old graphite limiters when 4.6 GHz system operated with power >2.0 MW [B. N. Wan et al., Nucl. Fusion 57 (2017) 102019], leading to a reduction of the maximum power capability. With the new limiters, 4.6 GHz LH system, the main current drive (CD) and electron heating tool for EAST, can be operated with power >2.5 MW routinely. Long-pulse operation up to 100 s with 4.6 GHz LH power of 2.4 MW was achieved in 2021 and the maximal temperature on the guard limiters measured by an infrared (IR) camera was about 540 C, much below the permissible value of tungsten material (~1200 C). A discharge with a duration of 1056 s was achieved and the 4.6 GHz LH energy injected into the plasma was up to 1.05 GJ. Secondly, the fully-activemultijunction (FAM) launcher of 2.45 GHz system was upgraded to a passive-active-multijunction (PAM), for which the density of optimum coupling was relatively low (below the cut-off value). Good coupling with reflection coefficient ~3% has been achieved with plasma-antenna distance up to 11 cm for the new PAM. Finally, in order to eliminate the effect of ion cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) wave on 4.6 GHz LH wave coupling, the location of the ICRF launcher was changed to a port that is located 157.5 toroidally from the 4.6 GHz LH system and is not magnetically connected

Analysis and Prediction of Regional Land Subsidence with InSAR Technology and Machine Learning Algorithm

        Hui Wang,Chao Jia,Pengpeng Ding,Keyin Feng,Xiao Yang,Xiao Zhu 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.2

As a worldwide environmental and geological disaster, land subsidence may cause serious harm to urban development. Therefore, the prediction of land subsidence is a key scientific problem. Decheng county, Shandong Province in China is taken as the research object. Based on BP neural network (BPNN) and random forest (RF) method, the analysis and prediction of regional land subsidence are carried out by applying multi-source monitoring data, Geographic Information System (GIS), and machine learning algorithm. Combined with Short Baseline Synthetic Aperture Interferometric Radar (SBAS-InSAR) and GIS technology, the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of land subsidence from 2017 to 2020 are analyzed. The impact of different groundwater levels on land subsidence is quantitatively analyzed by BPNN and RF algorithm. The real-time prediction model of regional land subsidence is established. The results show that: 1) The area with the most serious land subsidence is located in Songguantun town, the maximum annual average subsidence rate is -40.71 mm/yr. 2) Land subsidence is mainly affected by deep groundwater and shallow groundwater in the research area. 3) The accuracy of the prediction results of the BPNN model is higher than that of the RF model when groundwater level change is used to predict land subsidence.

Application of Brodmann’s Area Maps for Cortical Localization of Tactile Perception Evoked by Fabric Touch

        Qicai Wang,Yuan Tao,Jie Yuan,Zhaohui Jiang,Zuowei Ding,Zhongwei Zhang,Zhao Jia,Jing Wang 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.4

Different sensations are generated when we touch textiles with different performance. The mechanical propertiesrelated to fabric touch have been studied for a long time, the relationship between which and the subjective feelings is wellunderstood. However, the cognitive mechanism of our brain on the tactile perception evoked by fabric touch were rarelystudied. The relationship between mechanical properties of fabrics and the brain response in different areas is the vacancy ofthe study but urgent problem. In our previous study, the advanced technology of fMRI was proved to be an effective tool fordetecting brain response evoked by tactile stimulation of fabric touch with high spatial resolution. Now in this study, furtherfMRI experiments were conducted to observe brain response when participants touched different fabrics using their fingers ina specified way, and the most widely recognized functional atlas, Brodmann’s area maps, were applied to locate the corticalactivations in functional areas. Activations in the participants’s brain in different Brodmann areas was compared with themechanical preperties of the fabric samples tested by the instruments of KES-FB. The results showed that activationinformation in the participants’ brain can distinguish the fabric samples very well. Activations in several Brodmann areas areclosely connected with different tactile preperties of the fabrics. Therefore, Brodmann’s area maps were proved to be a usefulfunctional atlas for cortical localization of tactile perception evoked by fabric touch.

CCR6 Is a Predicting Biomarker of Radiosensitivity and Potential Target of Radiosensitization in Rectal Cancer

        Hui Chang,Jia-wang Wei,Ya-lan Tao,Pei-rong Ding,Yun-fei Xia,Yuan-hong Gao,Wei-wei Xiao 대한암학회 2018 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.50 No.4

Purpose This study aimed to explore the functions and mechanisms of C-C motif chemokine receptor 6 (CCR6), a gene associated with progression and metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC), in radiosensitivity of rectal cancer (RC). Materials and Methods RNA sequencing and immunohistochemical analysis on CCR6 expression were performed in pretreatment tissues of RC patients exhibiting different therapeutic effects of radiotherapy. Colonogenic survival assay was conducted in different CRC cell lines to assess their radiosensitivity. And the impact of CCR6 expression on radiosensitivity was validated through RNA interference. The DNA damage repair (DDR) abilities of cell lines with different CCR6 expression were evaluated through immunofluorescence-based H2AX quantification. Results The CCR6 mRNA level was higher in patients without pathologic complete remission (pCR) than in those with pCR (fold changed, 2.11; p=0.004). High-level expression of CCR6 protein was more common in the bad responders than in the good responders (76.3% vs. 37.5%, p < 0.001). The CRC cell lines with higher CCR6 expression (LoVo and sw480) appeared to be more radioresistant, compared with the sw620 cell line which had lower CCR6 expression. CCR6 knockdown made the LoVo cells more sensitive to ionizing radiation (sensitization enhancement ratio, 1.738; p < 0.001), and decreased their DDR efficiency. Conclusion CCR6 might affect the RC radiosensitivity through DDR process. These findings supported CCR6 as a predicting biomarker of radiosensitivity and a potential target of radiosensitization for RC patients.

      • B-cell Lymphoma 2 rs17757541 C>G Polymorphism was Associated with an Increased Risk of Gastric Cardiac Adenocarcinoma in a Chinese Population

        Li, Qiong,Yin, Jun,Wang, Xu,Wang, Li-Ming,Shi, Yi-Jun,Zheng, Liang,Tang, Wei-Feng,Ding, Guo-Wen,Liu, Chao,Liu, Rui-Ping,Gu, Hai-Yong,Sun, Jia-Ming,Chen, Suo-Cheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.7

Aim: Apoptosis has been considered as a fundamental component in cancer pathogenesis, and related genetic factors might play an important role in gastric cardiac adenocarcinoma (GCA) genesis. Methods: We conducted a hospital based case.control study to evaluate the genetic effects of functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs): BCL2 rs17757541 C>G, BCL2 rs12454712 T>C, FAS rs2234767 G>A, FASL/FASLG rs763110 C>T, ERBB2 rs1136201 A>G and VEGFR2/KDR rs11941492 C>T on the development of GCA. A total of 243 GCA cases and 476 controls were recruited for the study and genotypes were determined using a custom-by-design 48-Plex SNPscan$^{TM}$ Kit. Results: The BCL2 rs17757541 C>G polymorphism was associated with increased risk of GCA. However, there was no significant associations with the other five SNPs. Stratified analyses indicated a significantly increased risk of GCA associated with the BCL2 rs17757541 C>G polymorphism among males, older patients and those with a history of smoking or drinking. Conclusion: These findings indicated that the functional polymorphism BCL2 rs17757541 C>G might contribute to GCA susceptibility. However, our results were limited by small sample size. Future larger studies are required to confirm our current findings.

Local Field Enhancement Due to Multiple Scattering in Random Sb-SiN Thin Films

        Ruo-Jian Zhu,Ding-Rong Ou,Guo-Fan Jin,Jia Wang,Jing Zhu 한국물리학회 2005 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.47 No.1

Random Sb-SiN films consisting of random small Sb particles embedded in a SiN thin film were deposited by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. Specimens comprising in order a random Sb- SiN film and an optical-phase-change recording layer were exposed to a focused laser beam. It was shown that, with a random Sb-SiN layer deposited above the recording layer, the ablation of the recording layer occurred much faster and under much lower power than that of a single recording layer. Scanning Near-field Optical Microscope (SNOM) images of the transmitted light after passing through the random Sb-SiN film were produced as well as a Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) calculation of the field distribution. They both showed a local optical near-field enhancement due to multiple scattering effects of the Sb nanoparticles. This is promising for application in superresolution optical storage to get a higher Carrier to Noise Ratio (CNR).

Da Qu,Fei Ding,Jia-Dai Xue,Bo Wang 한국정밀공학회 2017 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.18 No.11

Characteristics of the micro-wall of flexible joints seriously impact the performance of gyro. Hence, measurements of these characteristics become very important. The present study carries out a system to measure the characteristics, including the stiffness and thickness, of the micro-wall of flexible joints. The force sensor deemed as a core component is mainly expounded in the paper. It is developed based on the principle of resistance strain gauge and good performance is shown on measuring the stiffness and the thickness. The measurement accuracy is calculated though repeated experiments and measurement theory and results are elaborated. The measurement results help to reveal the rule of structural design so as to enhance the performance of gyro. Finally, some improvements of this measurement system are proposed for further applications.
