        董氏鍼의 頸項痛 治療에 관한 臨床的 考察

        Objective : The purpose of this study was to evidence the effect of Dong-Shi Acupuncture by improving degree of forty four patients who have received a Dong-Shi Acupuncture therapy at Dong Eui oriental hospital OPD and chiefly complained for neck pain and related symptoms. Materials and Methods: Forty four patients were diagnosed with physical inspection and readiography, and investigated into the effect of treatment sharing before treatment and after 2 weeks and 4 weeks treatment by Dr. Kim's method. Results and Conclusions: The conclusion of this study was that improving degree of forty four patients who have received a Dong-Shi acupuncture therapy for all items and excellence of the Dong-Shi Acupuncture was evidenced.

        구내 표준 방사선사진을 이용한 구내방사선촬영기의 선질 평가

        Purpose : This study was to evaluate the beam quality of intraoral X-ray equipments used at Yonsei University Dental Hospital (YUDH) using the half value layer (HVL) and the characteristic curve of intraoral standard X-ray film. Materials and Methods : The study was done using the intraoral X-ray equipments used at each clinical department at YUDH. Aluminum filter was used to determine the HVL. Intraoral standard film was used to get the characteristic curve of each intraoral X-ray equipment. Results : Most of the HVLs of intraoral X-ray equipments were higher than the least recommended thickness, but the REX 601 model used at the operative dentistry department and the X-707 model used at the pediatric dentistry department had HVLs lower than the recommended thickness. The slopes of the characteristic curves of films taken using the PANPAS 601 model and REX 601 model at operative dentistry department, the X-705 model of prosthodontic dentistry department, and the REX601 model at the student clinic were relatively low. Conclusion : HVL and the characteristic curve of X-ray film can be used to evaluate the beam quality of intraoral X-ray equipment. In order to get the best X-ray films with the least radiation exposure to patients and best diagnostic information in clinical dentistry, X-ray equipment should be managed in the planned and organized fashion.         巨文島는 韓半島의 南端, 東經 127°16′30″∼127°24′50″, 北緯 34°0′∼34°0′4″에 位置하며 古島, 東島, 西島의 3個 有人島와 10餘個의 無人島로 되어 있다. 本島의 植物이 最初로 採集된 것은 1960年에 Wilford(英國王立植物園 專屬採集人)이였다. 그의 採品은 Hooker 博士에 依해 發表되었다. 그 뒤에 國內外의 多數의 學者가 本島를 찾았으나 部分的인 發表가 있을 뿐이고 完全한 植物相이 밝혀즌 바 없다. 筆者들은 1965年 8月 5日∼8月 14日 사이에 本島의 植物을 調査하였으며 오늘까지 旣發表된 것을 綜合하여 發表코자 한다. 1. 巨文島의 植物은 107科 353種 10變種이다. 2. Ranunculus Vernyi Fr. & Sav.(왜젓가락풀)와 R. Tachiroei Fr. & Sav.(개구리미나리)와 混同되어 오든 R. cantoniensis DC.(민개구리미나리)를 區別할 것을 主張한다. 이는 全形은 前者와 類似하고 果實은 後者와 類似한 種이다. 3. Brachypodium sylvaticum (Huds.) Beauv(산개밀)와 Koelreuteria paniculata Laxmann(모감주나무)이 이곳에 分布함은 分布上 興味가 있다. Ir. Keamoon (Port Hamilton) is located on southernpart of Korean Peninsula (127°24′50″∼127°16′30″E. and 34°0′4″∼34°0′0″ N.), and contains three inhabited islands (Go-do, Dong-do, and Su-do) and about ten uninhabited islands. Since Wilford, collector of Kew Botanical Garden in England, collected this island's plants in 1960 and Dr. Hooker published those, many scholar has partly surveyed the flora of this island, but no one has ever surveyed the entier flora of this island. The writers are now presenting this study as the results of survey of 1965 (Aug. 5∼14) and synthetical survey of the theories which have been published till to day. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The plants of Ir. Keamoon are composed of 107 families, 353 species, 10 varieties and 363 kind in all. 2) We maintain that Ranunculus cantoniensis DC. is distingushed from R. Vernyi Fr. & Sav. and R. Tachiroei Fr. & Sav.; it is resetmble to the former in full form and the later in fruits. 3) That Brachypodium sylvaticum (Huds) Beauv. and Koelreuteria paniculata Laxmann are distributed on this island is very interested in view of the distribution.

      • 유산양 유방염에 대한 Chitosan 약침의 치료 효과

        To improve the therapeutic method for mastitis, treatment effect of chitosan pharmacopuncture was examined in three milking goats(A,B and C). Mastitis was artificially induced in two milking goats(A and B) and one goat(C) was naturally infected case with mastitis. The acupoint used was Yang-Ming and chitosan suspensions(provided from Tottory University, Japan: 30㎎ of chitosan/㎖)were injected to the acupoint with 5㎖/time for 3 days, respectively. As for the change of somatic cells in milk along with chitosan pharmacopuncture, they showed a decreasing tendency after increase on the 3rd day in all udders of B. In addition, as for the change of total leukocyte counts of peripheral blood with chitosan pharmacopuncture, they showed a decreasing tendency after increase on the 3rd day in B and C except A which showed a increasing tendency until on the 7th day. In the change of neutrophil/lymphocyte(N/L) ratio, increasing tendency was seen in A and C but increasing tendency after slight decrease was observed in B. Further, in the change of serum total protein and A/G ratio, serum total protein content was decreased after slightly increase on the 3rd day in A, and they were decreased after increase until on the 7th day in B and C, respectively. As for the change of A/G ratio, different pattern increasing tendency was shown in A, B and C.

        The objective of this study is to test for thermal conductivity of architecture insulation materials in domestic buildings with environmental condition change. In study, we measured change of thermal conductivity with test temperature change, long-time leaving and change of contained water rate. For long-time leaving test, the specimens of building insulation materials were kept in test conditions, which were influenced by the outside environment. The results of the study show 1) the contained water rate of artificial mineral fiber insulations was big for others, 2) thermal conductivity rose as test temperature(median) grew up and 3) the extruding insulations and hardened Urethane foam changed thermal conductivity with environmental condition and time elapse.

        Controlled Growth of SnO2 Nanorods by Thermal Evaporation of Sn Powders

        The growth of tin-oxide (SnO$_2$) one-dimensional (1D) nanomaterials was investigated by carrying out thermal evaporation of solid Sn powders. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were utilized to characterize the as-synthesized products. The obtained nanomaterials had a crystalline rutile structure. The structural morphologies of products were changed by varying the growth temperature, with lower-temperature processes favoring thinner 1D nanomaterials. The extent of nanorod alignment, the relative intensity of the (110) orientation, and the photoluminescence emission intensity of the products were found to increase simultaneously as the O$_2$ partial pressure was increased. A possible aligning mechanism for nanorods is discussed.

      • α-Lipoic Acid Prevents Endothelial Dysfunction in Obese Rats via Activation of AMP-Activated Protein Kinase

        <P>OBJECTIVE: Lipid accumulation in vascular endothelial cells may play an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis in obese subjects. We showed previously that alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and reduces lipid accumulation in skeletal muscle of obese rats. Here, we investigated whether ALA improves endothelial dysfunction in obese rats by activating AMPK in endothelial cells. METHODS AND RESULTS: Endothelium-dependent vascular relaxation was impaired, and the number of apoptotic endothelial cells was higher in the aorta of obese rats compared with control rats. In addition, triglyceride and lipid peroxide levels were higher, and NO synthesis was lower. Administration of ALA improved all of these abnormalities. AMPK activity was lower in aortic endothelium of obese rats, and ALA normalized it. Incubation of human aortic endothelial cells with ALA activated AMPK and protected cells from linoleic acid-induced apoptosis. Dominant-negative AMPK inhibited the antiapoptotic effects of ALA. CONCLUSIONS: Reduced AMPK activation may play an important role in the genesis of endothelial dysfunction in obese rats. ALA improves vascular dysfunction by normalizing lipid metabolism and activating AMPK in endothelial cells.</P>

        Pt-Catalyzed Growth of Amorphous SiOx Nanowires

        We have fabricated SiO$_x$ nanowires on a large scale through a Pt-catalyzed process. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigation revealed that the nanowires had diameters in the range of 30 $\sim$ 130 nm. X-ray diffraction (XRD), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyses indicated that the nanowires were amorphous and consisted only of Si and O elements. The growth of the SiO$_x$ nanowires was most likely controlled by the base-growth mechanism with the assistance of the underlying Pt layer. The room-temperature PL spectrum measurement showed a broad emission band, peaking around 3.0 eV. This simple heating method, with the effectiveness of the Pt catalyst, can be applied to a wide range of substrate materials, which may contribute to producing various useful nanostructures.
