        단보 : 배추뿌리혹병균(Plasmodiophora brassicae)의 인공접종을 위한 효율적인 저장조건

        순활물기생체인 Plasmodiophora brassicae는 병원성 검정을 위해서 반드시 뿌리혹을 장기적으로 보관하는 것이 매우 중요하기 때문에 그동안 병원성을 유지하는 것이 관건이다. 특히 기존의 방법은 100년 이상 사용되어온 저장법으로 개선이 필요하여 그 효율적인 방법을 밝히고자 하였다. 이 결과 장기적으로 병원성의 저하를 최소화하며 장기간 뿌리혹을 저장할 수 있는 방법은 -70oC 냉동고에 보관하는 것으로 확인되었고, 저장 조건은 뿌리혹을 그대로 보관하거나 뿌리혹을 갈아 균질화한 후 여러 겹의 거즈에 거른것이 6가지 저장조건 중에 가장 효과적인 저장법으로 밝혀졌다. Clubroot, caused by the obligate parasite Plasmodiophora brassicae, is a severe soilborne disease of Brassicaceae. Storage of clubroot gall is important for studies on pathogenicity and race identification. As the current storage method has been used for more than 100 years, a new storage method should be developed and the most efficient way maintaining pathogenicity should be determined. Effects of storage conditions with different storage periods on pathogenicity in galls of kimchi cabbage were examined in a greenhouse. The experiments were performed under six conditions and four temperatures in order to determine the most effective storage conditions for maintenance of pathogenicity. The most effective conditions for clubroot gall storage was the storage of whole gall at -70oC or storage of filtrate at the same temperature through eight layers of gauze after homogenization of the galls.

        국내산 시판 스트링 치즈의 품질특성

        본 연구는 국내에서 생산되는 시판 스트링 치즈 7종의 품질 특성을 비교하기 위해 일반성분, pH, 무기질, 색도, 텍스처, 미생물, 기호도평가를 진행하였다. 일반성분에서 C6가 수분 함량 44.00%로 가장 낮고, 지방 함량 22.99%로 가장 높게 측정되었다. 칼슘 함량은 383.89~1,136.42 mg/100 g 범위로 측정되었으며, C6가 가장 낮게 측정되었다. 색도는 L값이 76.72~89.97로 아주 밝은 색을 나타내며, 텍스처에서는 C2가 경도, 부착성, 탄력성, 씹힘성, 검성, 복원성까지 가장 높게 나타났고 C1과 C7이 경도, 탄력성, 씹힘성, 검성이 가장 낮았다. 기호도평가에서는 모든 항목에서 C2가 가장 낮은 기호도를 보였으며, C5가 고소한 맛과 짠맛, 전반적 기호도가 가장 높았고 짠맛과 경도는 C6가 가장 높았다. 전반적 기호도와 고소한 맛과 짠맛, 신맛이 양의 상관관계를 보였으며, 지방 함량과 수분량은 음의 상관관계를 보였고 텍스처에서는 경도와 씹힘성이 양의 상관 관계였다. This study investigated the nutritional, physicochemical, microbiological, and consumer acceptance for 7 commercially available string cheeses in Korea. Nutritional values were determined by measuring the moisture contents (44.00∼52.33%), crude protein (20.15∼28.47%), crude fat (6.93∼22.29%), and crude ash (2.20∼3.22%). Moisture contents were relatively lower when the cheese contained either higher protein (C5) or fat (C5 and C6) contents. The calcium content in commercially available string cheese was determined to be in the range of 383.89∼1,136.42 ㎎/100 g, which differed greatly depending on the type of cheese. Colorimetric and textural properties were examined to assess the physicochemical properties of the 7 commercially available string cheeses. Overall, the color of cheeses expressed higher L values, with the highest L value (89.97) obtained in C1. In the texture assessment, C2 exhibited relatively greater hardness, cohesiveness, springiness, chewiness, gumminess, and resilience compared to other cheese types. Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., and Listeria monocytogenes were not detected in any of the tested cheeses. In consumer acceptance, C5 was highly preferred with the highest scores obtained for savory, sourness, and overall acceptance, whereas C2 marked the lowest acceptance among all test items.

        An optical illusion is the essential phenomena by sight. And so great variety of methods for the illusion are tried growing development by favorite writers these days. Particularly this phenomena are appeared into psychological disturbance for the sake of paralyzing with sensibility and are characterized by the instant response by the various expressions. For this reasons an optical illusion is expanded into the creative diverse fields; i.e. picture, sculpture, construction, advertisement, and so forth. In this study the illusion phenomena are divided into three types. Those are the participative illusion, the illusory illusion and the enjoying illusion. And in this study expression method and characteristic for the illusion is analysed case by case. At this point participative illusion is appeared to the interactive communication form between observers and writers through the writer`s intention. Illusory illusion is characterized by the combination, the arrangement and the reversal of physical factors. Enjoyng illusion is affected on observer`s imagination and interesting. Consequently in this study through the various expression methods for the illusion, it is proposed that expression effect is appeared in completion of works by the spectator`s directive participation, and that expression effect is appeared in participation of spectator`s distance, spectator`s media, spectator`s point of view by the writer`s intention, and that expression effect is appeared in a non-forming attribute category at material, type, color, and that expression effect is appeared in space through the mirror, the illumination, the light, and that expression effect is appeared in the thing`s fabrication, the thing`s extension, the thing`s distortion, and that expression effect is appeared in a decoration falsely in order not to reveal it`s identity and shape,and that expression effect is appeared in the distortion to the experience, thought, need. And it is provided to the guide-line about that utilization of illusion for the creative activity in flower design area.

        Cardiovascular and Gastrointestinal Effects of Etoricoxib in the Treatment of Osteoarthritis: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis

        Objective. To estimate the cardiovascular (CV) and gastrointestinal (GI) risks of etoricoxib in the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) compared to a placebo and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Methods. A systematic review of randomized, controlled trials (RCTs) of etoricoxib were performed. Bayesian network meta-analysis was used over a duration of 12 weeks. The incidence of CV and GI events for a duration ≥26 weeks were also tabulated and presented using descriptive statistics. Results. From this search, 10 studies were identified. Of these, 6 and 5 RCTs that measured the CV and GI events at 12 weeks were included in meta-analysis. They showed that etoricoxib did not increase the CV events compared to the placebo or NSAIDs during the 12 week period (odds ratio [OR]=0.59 compared to celecoxib, OR=0.89 with ibuprofen, OR=0.70 with placebo, and OR=2.16 with naproxen). The risk of GI events was comparable to that of most comparators, with the exception of naproxen, which had a significantly lower risk of GI events (OR=0.18) during the 12 week period. For a duration ≥26 weeks, the incidence of CV and GI events with etoricoxib increased with increasing duration. Conclusion. Etoricoxib is an alternative short-term treatment option for OA, showing comparable CV and GI complications to other NSAIDs. Nevertheless, further studies will be needed to elucidate the long-term safety of etoricoxib in the treatment of OA. (J Rheum Dis 2017;24:293-302)

        A clinical study on the trocar-guided mesh repair system for pelvic organ prolapse surgery

        Objective To evaluate the complication and recurrence rates in patients undergoing trocar-guided mesh implant for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) treatment. Methods A retrospective study was performed based on the medical records of patients who had undergone mesh implant by one surgeon from May 2006 to August 2013 at the Presbyterian Medical Center in Korea. We evaluated perioperative complications such as bladder injury, mesh exposure, urinary symptoms, infections, and chronic pelvic pain. Recurrence was defined as a POP-quantification system stage ≥II or any symptomatic prolapse. Results Sixty-seven patients were evaluated, and the mean age of patients was 65.4±7.2 years. Stage ≥III POP-quantification Ba was noted in 61 patients (91%). Intraoperative complications included three cases of bladder injury (4.5%). The mean follow-up period was 44.1±7.9 months. Postoperative complications occurred in seven women (10.5%): four cases of urinary symptoms (6%), two cases of infections (3%), and one case of chronic pelvic pain (1.5%). Mesh exposure did not occur (0%). Prolapse recurrence was reported in five patients (7.5%). Conclusion Based on our operational result, the trocar-guided mesh implant seems to provide safe and effective outcomes.

        Mitoribosome insufficiency in β cells is associated with type 2 diabetes-like islet failure

        Genetic variations in mitoribosomal subunits and mitochondrial transcription factors are related to type 2 diabetes. However, the role of islet mitoribosomes in the development of type 2 diabetes has not been determined. We investigated the effects of the mitoribosomal gene on β-cell function and glucose homeostasis. Mitoribosomal gene expression was analyzed in datasets from the NCBI GEO website (GSE25724, GSE76894, and GSE76895) and the European Nucleotide Archive (ERP017126), which contain the transcriptomes of type 2 diabetic and nondiabetic organ donors. We found deregulation of most mitoribosomal genes in islets from individuals with type 2 diabetes, including partial downregulation of CRIF1. The phenotypes of haploinsufficiency in a single mitoribosomal gene were examined using β-cell-specific Crif1 (Mrpl59) heterozygous-deficient mice. Crif1beta+/− mice had normal glucose tolerance, but their islets showed a loss of first-phase glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. They also showed increased β-cell mass associated with higher expression of Reg family genes. However, Crif1beta+/− mice showed earlier islet failure in response to high-fat feeding, which was exacerbated by aging. Haploinsufficiency of a single mitoribosomal gene predisposes rodents to glucose intolerance, which resembles the early stages of type 2 diabetes in humans.

        Association between urinary arsenic concentration and genetic polymorphisms in Korean adults

        Arsenic (As) is a human carcinogen widely distributed in the environment. This study evaluated the association between the urinary As concentration and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in Korean adults to determine the genetic factors related to As concentration. The study included 496 participants for the genome-wide association study (GWAS) and 1483 participants for the candidate gene approach study. Participants were 19 years and older. The concentrations of total As (Tot As) and total As metabolites (Tmet As, the sum of inorganic As and their metabolites; arsenite, arsenate, monomethylarsonic, and dimethylarsinic acid) in the urine were analyzed. The GWAS identified four SNPs (rs1432523, rs3776006, rs11171747, and rs807573) associated with urinary Tot As and four SNPs (rs117605537, rs3776006, rs11171747, and rs148103384) significantly associated with urinary Tmet As concentration (P < 1 × 10– 4). The candidate gene study identified two SNPs (PRDX2 rs10427027 and GLRX rs3822751) in genes related to the reduction reaction associated with urinary Tot As and Tmet As. This study suggests that genetic factors may play a role in regulating As metabolism in the human body, affecting both exposure levels and its potential health risks in the general Korean population, even at low exposure levels.
