Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.) is a perennial, medicinal and aromatic plant that is native to the Mediterranean region and has been widely cultivated in the world. This study was conducted in order to establish the extraction conditions with the Lavender for development of a functional cosmetic ingredients, which is controlling the skin aging. The dried powder prepared by the extract were optimized using the response surface methodology (RSM). The extraction conditions were based on the central composite design, with 15 kinds of variations in the extraction temperature (50-90℃), extraction time (6-24 hrs), and ethanol concentration (0-100%). The rosmarinic acid contents were significantly higher at 90℃ for 12 hrs with a 70% ethanol concentration. In this condition, the biological activities such as tyrosinase inhibitory activities and elastase inhibitory activities were excellent. The optimum extraction yield was predicted at an extraction temperature of 89.02℃, 11.79 hrs of extraction time and determined the value of 26.233% (wt/wt) with a 65.72% ethanol concentration, respectively.

In the manufacturing industry, fostering talented workers has become a core activity as well as an important resource leading to manufacturing enterprises' innovative activities, which has come to the fore as one of the biggest success factors for innovative activities indeed. In other countries, there are many researches actively conducted on talent-fostering programs related to manufacture innovation. In Korea, however, manufacturers or several different education agencies don't actively carry out manufacture innovation instructions and have failed to faster special competent workers since their instructions focus on theories most of the time. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand the present conditions of manufacture-innovative instructions in Korea by classifying them in a method of educational technology and to investigate various teaching methods through oversea cases and cases from non-manufacture fields so that it might make a proposal for a better manufacture-innovative instruction method.
테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력과 대학생활만족도의 관계 분석

This study mainly focused on the relationship between technology-mediated communication competence and campus life satisfaction of college students. For this, college students in 4 college(N=538) completed measures of technology-mediated communication competence and campus life satisfaction. It was found that female student's technology-mediated communication competence was higher than male ones, older students show higher campus life satisfaction than younger students and students in natural science and engineering fields show lower campus life satisfaction than others. Next, technology-mediated communication competence was correlated with campus life satisfaction of college students(r=.180, p<.01). Multiple regression Analysis was performed to establish a model to predict "campus life satisfaction" using "technology-mediated communication competence" as independent variables. Composure factor and attentiveness factor are the significant predictor. The higher technology-mediated communication competence is, the higher campus life satisfaction is. 본 연구는 대학생의 테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력과 대학생활만족도의 관계를 분석하고자 서울 및 경기 소재 4개의 4년제 사립 대학교 학생 538명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 우선 학년, 성별, 전공에 따른 테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력, 대학생활만족도의 차이를 분석한 결과, 여학생이 남학생보다 더 높은 테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력을 보였으며, 고학년이 저학년보다 대학생활에 만족하는 경향이 나타났다. 또한 인문, 사회계열 학생들이 이·공학계열학생들보다 대학생활에 더 만족하고 있었다. 다음으로 테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력과 대학생활만족도의 상관을 분석한 결과, 정적 상관을 보였다(r=.180, p<.01). 대학생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력의 특성을 분석하고자 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력하위요인 중 안정성과 집중력이 가장 큰 영향력을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 테크놀로지 매개 커뮤니케이션 능력이 높을수록 대학생활만족도도 높아지는 것을 알 수 있다.

Background/Aims: The role of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in the modulation of cell growth is well established in colorectal cancer. The aim of this study was to elucidate the significance of 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH) down-regulation on the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Methods: The expression of 15-PGDH in HCC cell lines and resected HCC tissues was investigated, and the correlation between 15-PGDH expression and HCC cell-line proliferation and patient survival was explored. Results: The interleukin-1-β-induced suppression of 15-PGDH did not change the proliferation of PLC and Huh-7 cells in the MTS [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] assay. The induction of 15-PGDH by transfection in HepG2 cells without baseline 15-PGDH expression was suppressed at day 2 of proliferation compared with empty-vector transfection, but there was no difference at day 3. Among the 153 patients who received curative HCC resection between 2003 and 2004 at our institution, 15-PGDH expression was observed in resected HCC tissues in 56 (36.6%), but the 5-year survival rate did not differ from that of the remaining 97 non-15-PGDH-expressing patients (57.1% vs 59.8%; P=0.93). Among 50 patients who exhibited baseline 15-PGDH expression in adjacent nontumor liver tissues, 28 (56%) exhibited a reduction in 15-PGDH expression score in HCC tissues, and there was a trend toward fewer long-term survivors compared with the remaining 22 with the same or increment in their 15-PGDH expression score in HCC tissues. Conclusions: The prognostic significance of 15-PGDH down-regulation in HCC was not established in this study. However, maintenance of 15-PGDH expression could be a potential therapeutic target for a subgroup of HCC patients with baseline 15-PGDH expression in adjacent nontumor liver tissue. This study was to investigate the sorbic acid, benzoic acid and sulfur dioxide in commonly consumed beverages, snacks and instant ramens in Korea. A total of 150 food samples including 50 beverages, 50 snacks and 50 instant ramens were examined using the Korea Food Code method. Sorbic and benzoic acid were analyzed by the HPLC method, whereas sulfur dioxide was measured by Monnier-Williams method. Our results indicated that benzoic acid was detected in six beverages samples, and its concentration was in the range of 3.08-11.94 mg/kg. The contents of both sorbic and benzoic acid in 50 beverage samples did not exceed the residue allowance standards set by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Sulfur dioxide was detected in 12 beverages samples, but its content was lower than the detection limit specified in the method by the Korea Food Code. On the other hand, sorbic acid was not detected all samples. These results provide a basic data regarding sorbic acid, benzoic acid and sulfur dioxide in commonly consumed beverages, snacks and instant ramens in Korea.
