Background: An outbreak of eye diseases occurred among workers at a poultry abattoir in South Korea from December 2012 to June 2013. An epidemiological investigation of the causative agent was conducted. The workers were given a special health examination and workplace environmental monitoring was performed. Workers with ocular symptoms subsequently underwent an ophthalmic examination. Case Presentaion: From a total of 41 workers, 26 (63.4 %) were diagnosed with keratoepitheliopathy by ophthalmic examination. Environmental monitoring of the workplace revealed that the ultraviolet (UV) apron-disinfection lamp had not been turning off at the set times, and so the workers’ faces had been exposed to UV radiation. Effective radiation dose measurement showed a UV-B exposure of 7-30 ㎼/㎠, and a UV-C exposure of 40-200 ㎼/㎠; both values exceed the occupational exposure limits. The outbreak ceased after the lamp was repaired. Conclusions: This case shows that inappropriate use of the UV disinfection lamp can cause mass photokeratitis. In order to prevent this, the UV disinfection lamp must be checked regularly, workers must be educated on the health effects of UV radiation, and appropriate eye protection must be worn.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the characteristics of discount store environment by compare underground selling area with aboveground selling area. Since occupants spend most of time at selling area in discount store, the focus of field measurement is selling area evaluation. In the field measurement, air environment is estimated by the concentration of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, dust and thermal environment is estimated by dry temperature, globe temperature, relative humidity and velocity of air.<br/> Electric appliance selling area is the worst condition in horizontal environment analysis. Because of the connection of parking lot and selling area, moving walk is a passway of carbon monoxide. So moving walk is in need of isolation facility system. In conclusion, the result of this study in the case of underground selling area is worse condition than above ground selling area.

This study was investigated the physiological properties of auxin-producing bacteria that have plant growth promoting activity and plant pathogen antagonistic ability. Auxin-producing bacteria were isolated from field soils of Gyeongsan, Korea. Selected strains were identified as a Pseudomonas fulva N2l and a Pantoea agglomerans K35 by morphological and physiological test, and Biolog (Microlog) system. Auxins were determined by Salkowski in vitro test and mungbean adventitious root induction bioassay. Also produced indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) was identified by TLC. During cell growth, auxin production were highest in their idiophase after log phase and 35℃ at pH 7.5.
Evaluation of Inorganic Mg-Zn-F Thin-Film Passivation for OLED Application

In this study, we have manufactured a Mg-Zn-F target by using magnesium fluoride (MgF2), which has better optical characteristics than the conventional oxide group passivation thin film and Zinc (Zn). Deposition was done by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering to make a novel passivation thin film; then, its gas permeation properties were examined. The target was manufactured with various mixture ratios of MgF2 to Zn, 6 : 4, 5 : 5, 4 : 6 and 3 : 7; among those, thin films manufactured with a 4 : 6 ratio target showed the best gas barrier property. The thin films were deposited with targets having various ratios on polyethylene naphthalene (PEN) substrates by using a RF sputtering method. The thickness of the manufactured passivation film was about 200 nm and the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) was 1×10-3 g/(m2·day), below the limit of the measuring equipment, when the humidity and the temperature were 90 % and 38˚, respectively and the optical transmission was above 80 %. From the experimental results, we found that inserting the Zn component improved the physical density of the MgF2 film and the gas barrier characteristics compared to oxide and oxynitride group passivations. Thus, the possibility of a new-type of inorganic thin film was confirmed.
