For several years, temperatures in the Korean peninsula have gradually increased due to climate change, resulting in a changing environment for growth of crops and vegetables. An associated consequence is that emerging species of insect vector have caused increased viral transmission. In Jeju Island, Korea, occurrences of viral disease have increased. Here, we report characterization of five newly collected turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) isolates named KBJ1, KBJ2, KBJ3, KBJ4 and KBJ5 from a survey on Jeju Island in 2017. Full-length cDNAs of each isolate were cloned into the pJY vector downstream of cauliflower mosaic virus 35S and bacteriophage T7 RNA polymerase promoters. Their fulllength sequences share 98.9-99.9% nucleotide sequence identity and were most closely related to previously reported Korean TuMV isolates. All isolates belonged to the BR group and infected both Chinese cabbage and radish. Four isolates induced very mild symptoms in Nicotiana benthamiana but KBJ5 induced a hypersensitive response. Symptom differences may result from three amino acid differences uniquely present in KBJ5; Gly(382)Asp, Ile(891)Val, and Lys(2522)Glu in P1, P3, and NIb, respectively.

Background/Aims: Transradial intervention (TRI) is becoming the preferred method over transfemoral intervention (TFI) because TRI is associated with lower incidence of major bleeding and vascular complications. However, there has been limited published data regarding the clinical outcomes of TRI versus TFI in Korean patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods: A total of 689 consecutive STEMI patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents (DESs) from January to December of 2009 at nine university hospitals were enrolled in this study. Mid-term angiographic and 12-month cumulative clinical outcomes of the TRI group (n = 220, 31.9%) were compared to those of the TFI group (n = 469, 28.1%). Results: After propensity score matching, in-hospital complications and the 12-month major clinical outcomes during follow-up in the two groups were similar to each other. However, the incidence rates of repeat revascularization (6.4% vs. 0.5%, p = 0.003), target vessel revascularization (6.4% vs. 0.5%, p = 0.003), and major adverse cardiac events (MACE; 11.6% vs. 4.6%, p = 0.018) in the TFI group were higher than those in the TRI group during the 12-month of follow-up. Conclusions: In our study, TRI in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI with DESs was associated with lower incidence of access site hematoma, 12-month repeat revascularization, and MACE compared to TFI. Therefore, TRI might play an important role in reducing bleeding complications while improving major clinical outcomes in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI with DESs.

In this study. low velocity impact tests and compression-after-impact(CAI) tests have been used to evaluate the effect of temperature on the low velocity impact characteristics of phenol-matrix composites reinforced with woven glass-fabric. Drop weight(low velocity) impact causes three principle types of damage in laminates. namely matrix cracking, delamin-ation, and fiber breakage, which together can seriously degrade residual compressive strength in laminates. The distribution of impact damage for the various temperature. can be determined from ultrasonic C-scan images. and the shape of damage is approximately elliptical. The damage area increases with increasing temperature and impact energy. All these observation indicate reduced impact damage tolerance of the laminates at evaluted temperature.

Many strawberry cultivars in Korea and Japan are of mixed genetic pedigrees. We performed a random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) study to distinguish among ten strawberry cultivars that have dominated the Korean and Japanese markets for the past 10 years. The cultivars examined were ‘Akihime’, ‘Tochinomine’, ‘Maeyhang’, ‘Sachinoka’, ‘Red Pearl’, ‘Tochiotome’, ‘Askarubi’, ‘Toyonoka’, ‘Nyoho’, and ‘Suhong’. In order to identify an optimal set of primers for generating polymorphic DNA products, we tested genomic DNA from petals or leaves with 163 10-mer primers. A set of five primers generated 15 polymorphic DNA fragments and each of the ten cultivars exhibited its own characteristic pattern of RAPD products. On average, seven different DNA bands were detected between any two given cultivars. A phylogenetic tree that was constructed on the basis of these 15 polymorphic DNA bands, reflects breeding pedigrees of some cultivars. Therefore, the data should assist breeders in rapid and accurate identification of strawberry cultivars.

In the present study double-effect water-lithium bromide absorption cooling system was analysed and the optimum operating conditions were investigated based on the exergy method. The effects of the temperature of mid-temperature heat source and the efficiencies of the heat and mass transfer units, such as high-temperature generator, low-temperature generator, and absorber, were studied in terms of the coefficient of performance, thermodynamic 2nd law efficiency, and the cooling load. It was verified that the temperature of heat source in the high-temperature generator was significant and the optimim temperature was found to exist for the maximum 2nd law efficiency. Among the heat and mass transfer units, the absorber had the greatest effect on the system performance, especially on the cooling load of the absorption system.

최근 인터넷과 정보통신 기술의 개발로 사회의 가치관, 문화 및 생활 방식이 급속하게 변화되고 있다. 로봇 분야의 경우, 공장에서 사람의 접근이 통제된 지역에 설치되어 인간을 대신해서 반목작업이나 힘든 작업을 대신해주던 것에서 오늘날은 일반인들이 일상생활 속에서 손쉽게 활용할 수 있도록 로봇을 하나의 가전기기 혹은 개인용 상품으로 개발하기 위한 노력이 전 세계적으로 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 객체인 TMO를 통해서 내장형 시스템 기반의 로봇을 화상통신을 이용하여 실시간으로 원격 제어하는 방안을 제시코자 한다.
Phenolics Enrichment Process from Unripe Apples

Unripe apples contain significant amount of phenolics with various health benefits. A pilot scale enrichment process of unripe apple phenolics with Viscozyme L extraction and XAD-7 sorption process, based on the total phenolic content (TPC), phenolics content by high-performance liquid chromatography analyses, and antioxidant activities were studied. Antioxidant activities were tested by measuring oxygen radical absorbing capacity (ORAC), 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, and ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP). The phenolics-rich final product, apple antioxidant phenolics (AAP) has 771-fold higher TPC and 600-fold higher antioxidant activity of unripe apples. Through XAD-7 sorption AAP showed 52, 87, 70 and 44-fold increases in TPC, ORAC, DPPH and FRAP values, respectively. AAP showed more than 95% stability at the temperature range of 20 to $120^{\circ}{\ldots}$ and pH range of 1.47 to 8.5. Apple phenolics extraction process of Viscozyme L extraction coupled with XAD-7 sorption could be applied to the production of health benefit antioxidants.

<P>We propose and demonstrate generation of Brillouin dynamic grating (BDG) in a few-mode fiber (FMF) with a Gaussian pulse pump and a counterpropagating continuous wave pump in LP01 mode. Brillouin optical time-domain analysis (BOTDA) is achieved by launching a third Gaussian pulse probe in LP11 mode. With coherent detection and time-domain analysis on the backreflected probe signal, the modal birefringence of the FMF is characterized via the distributed BDG with high spatial resolution and high accuracy.</P>
