High precision machining technology has become one of the important parts in the development of a precision machine. Such a machine requires high speed on a large workspace as well as high precision positioning. For machining systems having a long stroke with ultra precision, a micro stage system with lever mechanism is proposed in this paper. The proposed micro stages are activated by the piezo-actuators with high precision, however, they have severe disadvantage for the travel range that the stroke is limited to a few microns. Because it is not easy to increase the stroke of piezo-actuator, it is very difficult to make an X-Y stage with only piezo-actuators. Therefore, in order to increase it, this paper proposes a lever mechanism for the piezo-actuator stage. In the experiments, we can confirm that the stroke is increased more than three times and it is possible to implement the micro X-Y stage using piezo-actuators.

이 논문에서는 인공지능 기반의 드럼 연습 시스템을 설명하고 있다. 먼저 사용자의 드럼 신호를 MIDI 파일로 변환하고, 이를 DB 에 저장되어있던 추천곡의 MIDI 파일과 비교하여 가장 유사한 것을 추천해준다. 또한 실시간으로 사용자의 드럼 연습을 도와주는 전문가 시스템역할을 함으로써 연주의 숙련도를 높여준다.

Objectives : Zizyphus jujuba fruits(ZJF), a traditional Korean medicine has various biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative and neuro-protective effects. However, it is still unclear whether ZJF has any biological effect on anti-aging. In this study, we examined the effect of ZJF on lifespan and thermal stress in C. elegans. Methods and Results : ZJF water extracts were fermented for 7 days(F7-ZJF) and 14 days(F14-ZJF) by Laetiporus sulphureus to increase secondary metabolites such as aglycone of flavonoids and terpenoids. In the lifespan assay, ZJF water extracts and fermented ZJF were treated on the agar medium plate with age synchronized egg stage of C. elegans. Treatment of F7-ZJF-200 μg/mL with OP-50 E. coli and F14-ZJF-200 μg/mL with OP-50 E. coli significantly increased life span of C. elegans(N2) at thermal stress condition of 25℃. Moreover mRNA levels of lifespan associated HSP 16.1, HSP 70, and HSF-1 were increased at thermal stress condition of 25℃. However, in the equilibration temperature of 20℃ after stress condition of 35℃ for 2 hr, F-14-ZJF-200 μg/mL treatment decreased the levels of heat shock protein in hsp16.2/GFP C. elegans. Conclusions : Our study indicates that prolong role of fermented-ZJF in C. elegans is mediated by control HSPs production.

Objective : Anterior cervical spine surgery (ACSS) is a common surgical procedure used to treat cervical spinal degenerative diseases. One of the complications associated with ACSS is prevertebral soft tissue swelling (PSTS), which can result in airway obstruction, dysphagia, and other adverse outcomes. This study aims to investigate the correlation between various cervical sagittal parameters and PSTS following single-level ACSS, as well as to identify independent risk factors for PSTS. Methods : A retrospective study conducted at a single institution. The study population included all patients who underwent single-level ACSS between January 2014 and December 2022. Patients with a history of cervical spine surgery or trauma were excluded from the study. The presence and severity of PSTS was assessed by reviewing pre- and postoperative imaging studies. The potential risk factors for PSTS that were examined include patient age, sex, body mass index, tobacco use, comorbidities, serum albumin levels, operative time, implant type, implanted level, and various cervical spine sagittal parameters. Multivariate linear regression analysis was performed to identify the independent risk factors for PSTS. Results : A total of 62 consecutive patients who underwent single-level ACSS over a 8-year period at a single institution were enrolled in this study. Only preoperative segmental angle showed positive correlation with PSTS among various cervical spine sagittal parameters (r=0.36, p=0.005). Artificial disc replacement showed a negative correlation with PSTS (β=-0.38, p=0.002), whereas the use of demineralized bone matrix (DBM) had a positive impact on PSTS (β=0.33, p=0.009). We found that male sex, lower preoperative serum albumin, and implantation of upper cervical level (above C5) were independent predictors for PSTS after single-level ACSS (β=1.21; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.27 to 2.15; p=0.012; β=-1.63; 95% CI, -2.91 to -0.34; p=0.014; β=1.44; 95% CI, 0.38 to 2.49; p=0.008, respectively). Conclusion : Our study identified male sex, lower preoperative serum albumin levels, and upper cervical level involvement as independent risk factors for PSTS after single-level ACSS. These findings can help clinicians monitor high-risk patients and take preventive measures to reduce complications. Further research with larger sample sizes and prospective designs is needed to validate these findings.

Objective: For treating advanced or recurrent cancer with peritoneal carcinomatosis, Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy has been introduced, which is considered as safe treatment without detectable aerosol leakage. Although we developed a novel prototype of Rotational Intraperitoneal Pressurized Aerosol Chemotherapy (RIPAC) for improving the distribution and depth of penetration of drugs, its occupational safety has not been investigated. This study aimed to investigate potential exposure to health care workers during RIPAC using a hydrophobic agent such as doxorubicin, cisplatin, paclitaxel and cremophor-free polymeric micelle formulated paclitaxel (Genexol PM ). Methods: As 10% doses for intravenous chemotherapy, doxorubicin of 3 mg, cisplatin of 10 mg, paclitaxel of 30mg and Genexol PM of 30 mg were administered with 0.9% NaCl of 50 ml as an aerosol by RIPAC in each three pigs. For preventing aerosol leakage during RIPAC, we used air-tight trocar and entire procedure was remotely controlled. Toxic aerosols were eliminated through microparticle filters, and the operating room was equipped with laminar airflow. Sampling of toxic aerosol in the air was performed in breathing zones of operators, anesthesiologists and scrub nurses, as well as at the entrance of the operating room. Numbers of airborne particles were also assessed to detect potential leakage from the laparoscopic instrument and airborne diffusion. Results: In off-line measurement, we found no detection of leakage during RIPAC using doxorubicin, cisplatin and Genexol PM in the air (Limit of detection, LOD, 1.28 ng/ml, 0.772 ng/sample, and 5.68 ng/ml, respectively), while paclitaxel was detected in samples of 75% (LOD, 36.5 ng/sample). In one-line measurement, there were no cumulative risk of leakage of airborne particles during repetitive RIPAC procedures using doxorubicin, cisplatin and Genexol PM except increased numbers of airborne particles induced by movements of medical staff. Conclusion: Air contamination of doxorubicin, cisplatin and Genexol PM was below detection limit in the air along with steady levels of numbers of airborne particle during repetitive RIPAC procedures, suggesting the occupational safety of RIPAC using these three agents. However, paclitaxel may require a caution during RIPAC because of a relatively high detection in the air.
