In this paper, a new method to reduce the size of ROM in the direct digital frequency. synthesizer(DDFS) is proposed The new parallel ROM compression method can reduce the ROM size by using the two ROM The quantized value of sine is stored by the quantized-ROM and the differential ROM To reduce the ROM size, we use the differential quantization technique with this two ROM So the total size of the ROM in the proposed DDFS is significantly reduced compared to the original ROM The ROM compression ratio of 67.5% is achieved by this method Also, the power consumption is affected mostly by this ROM reduction.

Stoichiometric mullite powder was prepared with Al(OH)₃, which was synthesized from Al₂(SO₄)₃·18H₂O and SiO₂, which was hydrolysised from TEOS(Al₂O₃:SiO₂=3 : 2 mole%), the sintered body of only mullite and the Y₂O₃ added mullite body were prepared and it's properties were detected. The results are follows. Crystalized mullite begins to founded from 1200 calaination and Well-Crystalzed mullite forms from the calcination temperature, 1300℃ . Crystal grains of mullite is accicular, and its relative density and bending strength of mullite ceramics which is sintered at 1650℃ are 92% and 180Mpa, respectively. As Y₂O₃ addtion the bending strength can be increased to 220MPa, because Y₂O₃ distribute and fill the vacancies of accicular mullite grain boundaries.
Propylthiouracil에 의한 중증 급성간염 1예

PTU에 의한 간염의 발생은 매우 드물게 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있으나 저자들은 Graves씨 병으로 진단 받고 propylthiouracil 투여를 받고있던 환자에서 중증의 급성 간염이 발생한 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. Propylthiouracil is widely used to treat patients with hyperthyroidism. This drug has been associated with severe hepatotoxicity rarely. We presented the case of jaundice and profound liver dysfunction from a 23-year old woman treated with propylthiouracil for hyperthyroidism. Viral, metabolic, and autoimmune liver disease could be excluded and liver biopsy revealed a pattern of acute hepatitis. After discontinuing the drug, there was a progressive resolution of hepatic symptoms and decrease in biochemical data of the liver. Despite propylthiouracil induced hepatitis in rare case, patients receiving propylthiouracil are exposed to develope severe hepatotoxicity. Therefore it might be advisable to monitor level of the transaminase on regular base from patients receiving propylthiouracil.
장간모(腸間模)과 대강(大綱)에 동시 발생한 지방(脂肪)중 1예

The primary solid tumors of the mesentery and omentum are very rare. A Sixty-year old male with the complaints of epigastric fullness and huge mass on the upper abdomen was admitted to the Dept. of Internal Medicine, Chonnam University Hospital on Aug. 9, 1978.; On physical examination, adult head-sized soft non-tender movable mass was found at the right upper quadrant of the abdomen and epigastrium, the other adult fist-sized non-tender hard mass was palpated at right flank region. Roentgenological findings of the plain abdomen, upper G-I series, small bowel study and I.V.P. revealed that there were large soft tissue mass in right upper abdomen with upward elevation of the stomach and posterolateral displacement of the small intestine and well demarcated calcified round mass density in right flank region. The liver scan was within normal limits. Abdominal sonography showed lobulated echogenic masses with good sound transmission. A huge soft mass on mesentery of the small intestine and small hard mass on the greater omentum were found on abdominal exploration. The masses were rather easily excised. The large mass in mesentery was measured 270×210×100mm in size, about 2700gm in weight, and the other small mass in the omentum 80×60×25mm and about 100gm. The pathologic diagnosis was lipoma of the mesentery and omentum with focal calcification.
Genomic Structure and Expression Analyses of the PYGM Gene in the Thoroughbred Horse.

<P>Muscle glycogen Phosphorylase (PYGM) has been shown to catalyze the degradation of glycogen to glucose-1-phosphate. The PYGM gene can contribute to providing energy to the body by disassembling the glycogen in muscle. Here, we analyzed the genomic structure and expression of the PYGM gene in the thoroughbred horse. The PYGM gene, containing several transposable elements (MIRs, LINEs, and MERs), was highly conserved in mammalian genomes. In order to understand the expression of the horse PYGM gene, we performed quantitative RT-PCR using 11 thoroughbred horse tissue samples. The horse PYGM gene was broadly expressed in all tissues tested. In particular, the highest expression of the horse PYGM gene was observed in skeletal muscle tissue relative to the other tissues. Interestingly, the horse PYGM gene contains fewer mobile elements than its human ortholog, resulting in an increase in the structural stability of the PYGM gene sequence. This study provides insights into the genomic structure of the horse PYGM gene that may be useful in future studies of its association with exercise capability.</P>
Cytotoxic and ACAT-inhibitory Sesquiterpene Lactones from the Root of Ixeris dentata forma albiflora

Ixeris dentata forma albiflora was extracted with 80% aqueous MeOH, and the concentrated extract was partitioned with EtOAc, n-BuOH and $H_{2}O$. Eight sesquiterpenes were isolated through repeated silica gel and octadecyl silica gel ($C_{18},\;ODS$) column chromatography of the EtOAc and n-BuOH fractions. Physicochemical analysis using NMR, MS and IR revealed the chemical structures of the sesquiterpenes, which were zaluzanin (1), 9a-hydroxyguaian-4(15), 10(14), 11 (13)-triene-6, 12-olide(2), $3{\beta}-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranosyl-8{\beta}-hydroxyguaian$-4(15), 10(14)-diene-6, 12-olide (3), $3-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranosyl-8{\beta}-hydroxyguauan$-10(14)-ene-6, 12-olide (4), ixerin M (5), glucozaluzanin C (6), crepiside I (7), and ixerin D (8). This is the first time that these sesquiterpene lactones have been isolated from this plant. Compounds 1, 2 and 7 revealed relatively high cytotoxicities on human colon carcinoma cell and lung adeno-carcinoma cell, while compounds 5 and 7 showed acyl-CoA: cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) inhibitory activity.

The radiation of 182Ta has been studied with a double focusing beta-ray spectrometer which has a resolving power of 0.68 percent for internal conversion electron energy of 624.14 keV emitted from standard source, 131Cs. 182Ta has the encl point energies of 255.92 keV, 286.75 keV, 329.17 keV, 368.21 keV, 436.80 keV, 471.19 keV, 518.86 keV, 550.45 keV, 585.10 keV, 1482.62 keV, 1711.02 keV, and 1818.04 keV. Gamma-ray energies of 59.2 keV, 67.8 key, 54.9 keV, 100.1 keV, 113.8 keV, 116.1 keV, 152.8 keV, 156.4 keV, 179.5 keV, 198.2 keV, 222.7 keV, 229.4 keV, 264.2 keV, 927.4 keV, 959,7kev, 1001.5 keV, 1044.3keV, 1113.4keV, 1121,2keV, 1157.4keV, 1181.3keV, 1189.2keV, 1221.5keV, 1231.4keV, 1257.5keV, 1273.8keV, 1289.1keV, 1342.4keV and 1373.7keV were detected by Ge (Li) detecter.
Effects of Galhwahyejung-tang (GHT) on Protection for Alcohol-induced Liver Injury

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the protective efficacy of GHT on alcoholic liver injury. Methods: We measured the rate of alcohol oxidation, serum level of liver enzyme, lipid peroxidation level in liver tissue, and inflammatory related cytokine expressions in the liver. Results : GHT showed liver protective effects, lowered the levels of AST and LDH in serum and inhibited lipid peroxidation in liver tissue, and enhanced alcohol oxidation. GHT treatment up-regulated IL-10 in the liver, whereas it downregulated $TNF-\alpha,\;TGF-\beta$, and Fas ligand. Conclusion : From these results, GHT is presumed to work in the liver in protective roles not through the pathway of alcohol metabolism but mainly by anti-inflammation activity in our model.
