In this paper, modeling and design of a distributed detection system are considered for an active sonar sensor network. The sensor network has a parallel configuration and it consists of a fusion center and a set of receiver nodes. A system with two receiver nodes is considered to investigate a theoretical aspect of design. To be specific, AND rule and OR rule are considered as the fusion rules of the sensor network. For the fusion rules, it is shown that a threshold rule of each sensor node has uniformly most powerful properties. Optimum threshold for each sensor is obtained that maximizes the probability of detection given probability of false alarm. Numerical experiments were also performed to investigate the detection characteristics of a distributed detection system with multiple sensor nodes. The experimental results show how signal strength, false alarm probability, and the distance between nodes in a sensor field affect the system detection performances.

A distributed system for tracking multiple targets with a pair of multifunction radars is proposed and implemented. The system performs track-to-track association and track-to-track fusion at the fusion center to form fused tracks. The association and fusion are performed using target state information linked via communication nodes from a radar at a remote location. Many factors can affect the track-to-track association and fusion performances. They include delays in data transmission buffer of the remote radar, the error in estimating time-stamp of the remote radar, and the gating in track-to-track association. The effects on association and fusion performances due to these factors are investigated through extensive numerical simulations.
A Study on the Analysis of the Output Characteristics of the Floating Photovoltaic System

In this paper, the effects of environmental variables on the output of the floating photovoltaic water systems, which were installed at the Hapcheon dam in South Korea, were investigated, and the correlations between them were analyzed. The system output was linearly proportional to the solar radiation or irradiance. The output was large in spring and autumn because of high irradiance, but low in the summer when the solar module temperature was high. The influence of the module temperature on the system output was limited in the summer, during which the module temperature change affected the system output more than the change of the irradiance did. In addition, in winter and summer, the module temperature tended to decrease with increasing windspeed, but windspeed did not affect module temperature significantly in the spring and autumn. On the other hand, in winter and spring, the irradiance decreased as the windspeed increased because of movement (or circulation) of the photovoltaic modules.

최근 레이저를 이용하여 전자 소자 및 모듈을 절단하기 위한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 레이저를 이용하여 LED 모듈을 초고속 절단하기 위한 기초 연구를 수행하였다. 특히 기존의 다이싱(dicing) saw의 절단 속도를 훨씬 능가하는 100 mm/s의 초고속 레이저 절단의 가능성을 검토하였다. 이를 위하여 LED 모듈의 구성 재료인 copper/ceramic 및 silicone/ceramic 이종 복합 기판을 제작하여 레이저 절단 후, 절단면의 표면 특성, 표면조도, 굽힘 강도를 다이싱 saw를 이용하여 절단한 샘플과 비교하였다. 복합 기판에 대한 최적의 레이저 절단 조건을 찾기 위하여, 세라믹 및 구리 단일 기판의 레이저 절단을 통하여 다양한 레이저 공정 조건들에 대한 영향 검토하였다. 절단면의 표면 특성이 가장 좋은 최적의 레이저 절단 조건은 Ar 보조 가스의 사용, 높은 레이저 파워 및 높은 보조 가스의 압력이었다. Copper/ceramic 및 silicone/ceramic 이종 복합 기판에 대하여 레이저 절단과 다이싱 saw로 절단한 기판의 절단면을 비교한 결과, 레이저로 절단된 기판이 다이싱 saw 절단에 비하여 표면이 거칠고 표면 특성이 약간 나쁘다. 레이저 절단면의 평균 표면조도는 약 $9{\mu}m$ 이며, 다이싱 saw로 절단된 절단면의 표면조도는 약 $4{\mu}m$ 이었다. 그러나 다이싱 절단의 절단 속도(3 mm/s)를 고려하면 레이저 절단면의 표면 morphology가 비교적 균일하고, 표면조도도 다이싱 절단의 경우와 큰 차이가 없기 때문에 어느 정도 만족할 만한 결과를 얻었다고 판단된다. 또한 레이저 절단된 기판의 굽힘 강도가 다이싱으로 절단된 기판의 굽힘 강도보다 동등하거나 약간 열세이었다. 그러나 향후 레이저의 절단 조건이 좀 더 최적화된다면 LED 모듈의 초고속 레이저 절단이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. In this study, we conducted the preliminary research for high speed laser cutting of LED module. In particular, the feasibility of ultra-high speed laser cutting of 100 mm/s which exceeds the cutting speed of conventional dicing saw was examined. For this, copper/ceramic and silicone/ceramic hybrid substrates, which are the components of the LED module, were fabricated, and the surface morphology, surface roughness and flexural strength of the laser-cut samples were investigate and compared with the dicing-cut samples. To investigate optimal laser cutting conditions for hybrid substrates, the effects of various laser cutting conditions on cutting surface characteristics were studied using single ceramic and copper substrate. Optimal laser cutting conditions of the hybrid substrates were the use of Ar assist gas, high laser power and high assist gas pressure. Comparing the cutting surface of the hybrid substrates, the surface characteristics of the laser-cut samples are slightly inferior to those of the dicing-cut samples. The average surface roughness of the laser-cut samples was about $9{\mu}m$, and that of the dicing-cut samples was about $4{\mu}m$. However, considering very low cutting speed (3 mm/s) of the dicing saw, the surface morphology of the laser-cut sample was relatively uniform, and the surface roughness was not much different from that of the dicing-cut sample. The flexural strength of the laser-cut samples was equivalent to or slightly inferior to the flexural strength of dicing-cut samples. However, if the laser processing conditions are sufficiently optimized, the ultra-high speed laser cutting of the LED module will be possible.

An architecture for multiple radar tracking systems can be broadly categorized according to the methods in which the tracking functions are performed : central-level tracking and distributed tracking. In the central-level tracking, target tracking is performed using observations from all radar systems. This architecture provides optimal solution to target tracking. In distributed tracking, tracking is performed at each radar system and the composite track information is formed through track fusion integrating multiple radar-level tracks. Track-to-track fusion and track-to-track association are required to perform in this architecture. In this paper, issues and recent research on the two tracking architectures are surveyed.

Purpose: E-cadherin and CD44H have been shown to play a role in the progression and the metastasis of tumors. This study evaluated the clinical correlations between expression of E-cadherin and CD44H and various clinicopathologic factors and the value of expressions of E-cadherin and CD44H as prognostic factors in Borrmann type IV gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: In 122 patients with Borrmann type IV gastric cancer, we performed the immunohistochemical stainings for E-cadherin and CD44H. We analyzed the correlation between the expressions of E-cadherin and CD44H and lymphatic invasion, venous invasion, perineural invasion, histologic type, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion, stage, and peritoneal dissemination, and survival. Results: There were no correlations between reduced expression of E-cadherin and CD44H and lymphatic invasion, venous invasion, perineural invasion, histologic type, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion, and stage. However, there was a significant correlation between lymph node metastasis and the lymphatic invasion (P=0.022). There was also a significant correlation between the peritoneal dissemination and CD44H expression (P=0.005). The 5-year survival rate was correlated with CD44H expression expression (P=0.026), peritoneal dissemination (P<0.01), depth of invasion (P<0.01), lymph node metastasis (P<0.01), stage of tumor (P<0.01), and lymphatic invasion (P<0.01). There was no correlation between expression of E-cadherin and survival rate. Conclusion: The expression of CD44H and peritoneal dissemination was correlated. The expression of CD44H was an independent prognostic factor in Borrmann type IV gastric cancer. Further prospective studies with a large number of cases are required.
