The purpose of this study is to investigate mistranslation aspects of learners of Chinese characters, to analyze the causes, and to present effective measures of teaching. This study is a qualitative research, the preliminary research was conducted for second-graders of high schools, and this study and its follow-up were conducted for second- and third-graders of middle schools. The data were collected via class observation, interviews between teachers and students, individual learning paper of learners, and literature review. The data were analyzed for classification of causes of mistranslation based on lack in basic knowledge of Chinese characters and linguistic knowledge into six categories. The contents of the categories are as follows. First, the mistranslation was caused by inexperiences on particles and segmental reading. Second, the mistranslation was caused by confusion over characters with multiple meanings. Third, the mistranslation might be caused by lack in understanding of part of speech. Fourth, expletive has grammatical functions in sentences, but the learners had difficulty in understanding usage of expletive in sentences. Fifth, the learners performed awkward reading comprehension that did not make sense because they failed to decide sentence structure (or, word order) of Chinese characters. Sixth, mistranslation was caused by that the learners could not confirm rhetoric used in a sentence and were bound by understanding the meanings of each Chinese character. This study began from the question, What are the causes of mistranslation of learners of Chinese characters? The author of this study categorized aspects of mistranslation of learners of Chinese characters that had been latently perceived in the process of teaching-learning of Chinese characters, identified the causes of mistranslation, planned measures to reduce mistranslation that were applied to instruction field, and presented measures of effective teaching-learning of Chinese sentences for teachers and students. However, this study is limited in that it could not identify the process of reading of poetry and prose of Chinese characters and that it approached to measures to reduce mistranslation by limited factors such as basic and linguistic knowledge on Chinese characters. Further studies are needed to improve ability of reading comprehension of learners of Chinese characters.
4WD 및 4WS이 가능한 로더 개발(Ⅱ) : 4륜 조향장치 및 로더 구성 4WS System and Construction Loader

In this study, the loader was completed that has the 4-wheel gear driven drivetrain of study (Ⅰ), the 4-wheel steering with power wheel type, all-wheel traction system, and joy-stick type lever for hydraulic control value. From driving test of the developed 4WD and 4WS type loader, we obtained that the minimum circling radius and the necessary width in circling motion reduced about 40% and 33% compared with 2WS type loader. Also, all-wheel traction system could keep the tires glued to the ground with greater stability, the ower steering allowed a smoother operation, and the joy-stick type lever offered easily to control. Thus, the developed loader having these functions was very fit in a small cattle shed or a rugged ground.

For the estimation of chatter lobe boundary it is very important to calculate the natural mode of cutting process. There are many time series algorithms for getting the natural mode of structural endmilling dynamics considering the cutting process. In this study, we have compared several time series methods such as AR algorithm, ARX, ARMAX, ARMA, Box Jenkins, Output Error, Recursive ARX, Recursive ARMAX considering the sampling frequency. As a results, the ARX, ARMAX and IV 4 are more desirable algorithms for the calculation of modal parameters such as natural frequency and damping ratio In endmilling operation. Also these algorithms may be adopted for the natural mode estimation of endmilling operation for chatter lobe prediction.
A new species of Juncus (Juncaceae): J. baekdusanensis M. Kim

A new species, Juncus baekdusanensis M. Kim (Juncaceae), has been named and described from Mt. Baekdu of the Korean peninsula. Juncus baekdusanensis shares several characters (terete leaf blades with leaf sheath auricles, between 1 and 2 flowered inflorescences, and 2 bracteoles) with its related species J. tenuis Willd. It is, however, distinct from J. tenuis which have 1-flowered inflorescences, green perianth, lanceolate perianth segments, acuminate perianth apexes, small capsules, and lowland grassland habitats by having 2-flowered inflorescences, reddish green perianth, ovate perianth segments, acute perianth apexes, large capsules, and highland swamp habitats.

Electrostatic precipitator is the equipment that separates dust particles from the gas in which they are suspended. Specially, for the construction of industrial electrostatic precipitator, the corporations would send the layout design to a customer to accept an order. Therefore, it is mae a detail drawing after accept ance. Since the layout design of electrostatic precipitator is very complex, it takes time and design errors are included. Thus, for competitiveness in these industries, the development of software for the layout design of electrostatic precipitator is important. In this study, the developed software deals with technical concept and layout design of industrial electrostatic precipitator. By using the software, design time was very short, design errors reduced largely, and the standardization of design could be carried out.

In this study, we discuss on the seasonal fluctuations of water quality and chlorophyll-a in the eastern coastal area of Sinji Island. Sinji Island is located in the eastern part of Wando Island, and the productive farm ground is spread around the Island. Some analytical parameters were analyzed to study the seasonal water quality from Feb. ruary, 4, 1994 to October. 1, 1994 around the Island. The results are as follows: 1) Ranges of pH and suspended solid(SS) were 8.05~8.39 and 0.50~58.08㎎/l, respectively. The highest mean value of SS was 22.47㎎/l in bottom layer at winter season, the lowest mean value was 4.27㎎/l in surface layer at summer season. 2) Dissolved oxygen(DO) concentrations were slightly under saturation in the almost area at fall season, and in some area at summer season. 3) Chemical oxygen demand(COD) concentrations showed the highest mean value of 2.00㎎/l in bottom layer of fall season in the range of 0.66~5.28㎎/l, while showed the lowest mean value of 1.19㎎/l in bottom layer of spring in the range of 0.12~6.80㎎/l. 4) Dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN) concentrations showed the highest mean value of 7.17㎍-at./l in both layer at winter season, while showed the lowest mean value of 1.33㎍-at./l in surface layer of summer season. 5) Dissolved inorganic phosphorus(DIP) concentrations were higher at winter season than the other season. And, the the highest mean value of 0.56㎍-at./l was in surface layer at winter season. 6) N/P ratios were lower than 16 of Redfield ratio in both layer at all season except fall. It means that nitrogen is more limiting nutrient than phosphorus in the growth of phytoplankton. 7) Chlorophyll-a concentrations showed the highest mean value of 4.35㎎/㎥ in surface layer at spring season.

In this paper, we have discussed on the characteristics and modeling of machined geometry which was established for the case of round shape machining, also the effects of externally machined profile are analyzed and its modeling realia-biliy was verified by the experiments of roundness testing, especially in lathe operation. In this study, we established a harmonic geometric model with the parameter harmonic function. In general, we can calculate the theoretical roundness profile with an arbitrary multilobe parameter. But in real experiments, only 2-5 lobe profile was frequently measured. the most frequently measured ones are 3 and 5 lobe profile in experiments. With these results, we can predict that these results may be applied to round shape machining such as turning, drilling, boring, ball screw and cylindrical grinding operation in bearing and shaft making operation with the same method. In this study, simulation and experimental work were performed to show the profile behaviors. we can apply these new modeling methods in real process for the predic-tion of part profile behaviors machined such as in round shape machining operation.
