We investigated dissatisfaction of elements of local exhaust system, needs for local exhaust system, and information networks for local exhaust system from June 1998 to September 1999 using the questionnaire structured. It contained questions concerning general characteristics of factory and local exhaust system, troubles and dissatisfaction of elements of local exhaust system, and information networks far local exhaust system. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics analysis. Information networks for local exhaust system were analyzed by multidimensional scaling using path distance of network analysis and by graph analysis using Krackplot. Among complaints of local exhaust system, that of duct has show the highest percentage of complaint. In the information network for local exhaust system, Seoul is positioned in the center of network with mediating role.

Purpose : To determine whether high-resolution contrast-enhanced three dimensional imaging with spoiled gradientrecalled sequence (HR-CE 3D-SPGR) plays a meaningful role in the assessment of intracranial vertebral artery (ICVA) and posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) in lateral medullary infarction (LMI). Materials and Methods: Twenty-five patients confirmed with LMI were retrospectively enrolled with approval by the IRB of our institute, and 3T MRI with HR-CE 3D-SPGR and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) were performed. Two radiologists who were blinded to clinical information and other brain MR images including diffusion weighted image independently evaluated arterial lesions in ICVA and PICA. The demographic characteristics, the area of LMI and cerebellar involvement were analyzed and compared between patients with arterial lesion in ICVA only and patients with arterial lesions in both ICVA and PICA on HR-CE 3D-SPGR. Results: Twenty-two of twenty-five LMI patients had arterial lesions in ICVA or PICA on HR-CE 3D SPGR. However twelve arterial lesions in PICA were not shown on CE-MRA. Concurrent cerebellar involvement appeared more in LMI patients with arterial lesion in ICVA and PICA than those with arterial lesion in ICVA alone (p = 0.069). Conclusion: HR-CE 3D-SPGR can help evaluate arterial lesions in ICVA and PICA for LMI patients.

The digital dust indicator (Sibata P-5), one of the direct·reading instruments was evaluated for the respirable dust in the underground coal mine environments. As a reference, respirable dust was determined using three cyclones and/or impactors. All the tests were performed on aerosol in twenty underground coal mines. The coefficients of mass-relative concentration were $0.067{\pm}0.054$ (Mean$\pm$Standard deviation) (range: 0.006-0.172). The relationship between relative concentration and temperature was not significant statistically. Also, the relationship of relative concentration and relative humidity was not significant. Mass concentration and relative concentration were $5.31{\pm}5.22mg/m^3$ and $162{\pm}163$ CPM ($Mean{\pm}Standard$ deviation) respectively. The range of mass concentration was $1.22-22.69mg/m^3$; relative concentration 16-628 CPM. The relationship of mass concentration and relative concentration was not significant in these ranges.

Particulate matter exposure level of welders and grinding workers was evaluated in Banwol and Changwon industry complexes. Full period single sample and full period consecutive samples were collected with personal air samplers attached to workers. Compliance difference with 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) was compared by Korean strategy and the classification system recommended by OHSA for employee exposure to particulates. And difference of compliance was compared according to precision of measurement and analysis (total precision). Compliance rate was depended on the total precision, therefore, quality control of measurement and analysis was important.

Urban sewer systems are designed to operate in open-channel flow regime and energy loss at circular manholes are usually not significant. However, the energy loss at manholes, often exceeding the friction loss of pipes under surcharge flow, is considered as one of the major causes of inundation in urban area. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the head loss associated with manholes, especially in surcharge flow. Hydraulic experimental apparatus with two circular manholes was installed for this study. The range of the experimental discharges were from <TEX>$1.0\ell/sec$</TEX> to <TEX>$4.4\ell/sec$</TEX>. Head loss coefficient was maximum because of strong oscillation of water surface when the range of manhole depth ratios<TEX>$(h_m/D_{in})$</TEX> were from 1,2 to 1.25. The average head loss coefficients for upstream manhole and downstream manhole were 0.58 and 0.23 respectively. Head loss at upstream manhole is nearly 2.5 times more than one at downstream manhole.
웨이브렛 변환과 적응 프랙탈 보간을 이용한 심전도 데이터 압축

This paper presents the ECG data compression using wavelet transform (WT) and adaptive fractal interpolation (AFI). The WT has the subband coding scheme. The fractal compression method represents any range of ECG signal by fractal interpolation parameters. Specially, the AFI used the adaptive range sizes and got good performance for ECG data cmpression. In this algorithm, the AFI is applied into the low frequency part of WT. The MIT/BIH arhythmia data was used for evaluation. The compression rate using WT and AFI algorithm is better than the compression rate using AFI. The WT and AFI algorithm yields compression ratio as high as 21.0 wihtout any entropy coding.

Exposure level of respirable coal dust of underground coal mines in Taebaek area was evaluated. Personal air samplers with 10-㎜ nylone cyclones were attached to the coal workers including drillers, coal cutters, their assistants, haulers, and separators. Log-normality of respirable dust exposure concentration were tested by Kolmogorov-Smirnov one-sample test. Differences of means of respirable dust exposure concentration between work sites were tested by one-way ANOVA test and multiple comparison(Scheffe) test. And differences of respirable dust exposure concentration of principal and assistant workers in drilling sites and in coal faces were tested by paired t-test. Relation of respirable dust exposure concentration for the principal workers and their assistants in drilling sites and in coal faces were tested by regression analysis. The results were as follows : 1. All of the respirable dust concentration were log-normally distributed. 2. There were not only significantly different means of exposure concentration between drillers and coal cutters but between coal cutters and haulers. 3. Means of exposure concentration of drillers and drilling assistants were not significantly different. And means of exposure concentration of coal cutters and coal cutting assistants were not different.
