Recently, we have examined a 44 year-old Korean male patient who had the complaints of acute right lower abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. We performed serial barium enemas and selective superior mesenteric arteriogram and a diagnosis of segmental infarction of the cecum and proxirnal ascending colon with reversible process was made. After medical treatment with antibiotics and fiuid and electrolytes, the patient was discharged with good improvement on the ninth hospital day. We are reporting a case of ischemic colitis in which segmental infarction of the ascending colon was reversible v:ith the short review of concerning literatures.

The Pd or Pt-d WO₃ thin-film NO_x sensor was fabricated. The WO₃-based thin films as a gas-sensing layer were deposited at ambient temperature in a high-vacuum resistance heated evaporator and annealed at 500℃. The gas sensitivity (R_(gas)/R_(air)) to 5 ppm NO₂ measured at the operating temperature of 300℃ was 50 (highest sensitivity) for the 0.5 wt.% Pt-WO₃ sensor.

La/sub 0.8/Sr/sub 0.2/Ga/sub 0.8/Mg/sub 0.2/O/sub 3-δ/-based solid electrolytes in which Mg site was partially substituted by Fe, Co or Ni (0.05, 0.1, 0.15 at.%) were fabricated by conventional solid-state reaction and their sintered densities were above 94% of theoretical density. X-ray diffraction analysis and microstructure observation for the sintered specimens were performed. The ac complex impedance were measured at 400。C to l000。C in air and fitted with a Solatron ZView program. The electrical conductivity of La/sub 0.8/Sr/sub 0.2/Ga/sub 0.8/Mg/sub 0.2/O/sub 3-δ/-based solid electrolytes substituted by Fe, Co or Ni was higher than that of pure La/sub 0.8/Sr/sub 0.2/Ga/sub 0.8/Mg/sub 0.2/O/sub 3-δ/. The electrical conductivity of La/sub 0.8/Sr/sub 0.2/Ga/sub 0.8/Mg/sub 0.05/Ni/sub 0.15/O/sub 3-δ/ electrolyte was 3.4×10/sup -2/ Scm/sup -1/ at 800。C and the highest value of the whole electrolytes.

The perovskites with nominal compositions $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Fe_{1-x}M_xO_3$ (M=Co, Mn, Ni, x=0.1-0.3) were fabricated by a solid-state reaction method as cathode materials of low-temperature operating Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs). X-ray diffraction analysis and microstructure observation for the sintered samples were performed. The ac complex impedance were measured in the temperature range $600-900^{\circ}C$ in air and fitted with a Solatron ZView program. The electrical conductivity and polarization resistance of $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Fe_{1-x}M_xO_3$ (M=Co, Mn, Ni, x=0.1-0.3) were characterized systematically. The porosities of the sintered samples were in the range of 25% to 38%. The polarization resistance of $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Fe_{0.7}M_{0.3}O_3$ was $0.291{\Omega}cm^2\;at\;700^{\circ}C$.

The osmotic and mechanical red cell fragility of the professional blood donors, who were found to be anemic as the result of frequent and repeated blood loss the past 5-6 years, were compared with that of the normal person while incubating the blood at 4-6℃ for 28 days. The fragility was expressed as % hemolysis occured during the incubation, and the following results were obtained: 1. The osmotic fragility in the normal persons (i.e, ; control group) progressively increased as the incubation became longer, and % hemolysis in 0.42% NaCl solution at 0, 10, 15, 21 and 28 incubation day was 31.90, 50.20, 41.68, 43.50 and 55.40 respectively. The mechanical fragility. in the normal red cells ranged between the minimum of 0.00% to the maximum of 5.80% both in 0.90 and 0.66% of NaCl solutions. 2. The hemolysis curve obtained in the red cell osmotic fragility from three cases of the anemic persons (i.e,; experimental group) showed a significant left side shift comparing with the normal in general which indicates that the fragility was more increased in the experimental group. The mechanical fragility in the experimental group ranged between the minimum 0.00% to the maximum 19.00% both in 0.90 and 0.66% of NaCl solutions. 3. The red cells of the chronic anemic person due to the frequent blood loss as the professional blood donor exhibit significantly marked increase both in osmotic and mechanical fragility comparing with the normal, and the tendency was more prominent as the incubation period became longer.
