제주방언 ‘양’에 대한 통사·담화론적 고찰

The tremendous amount of work has certainly helped answer many structural understanding of Jeju dialect. Their main research focus goes on the formal analysis of language in the area of lexical, morphological and syntactic levels of Jeju dialect. There are a lot of more questions that can be raised concerning the further understanding and explanation of the grammar of it. Taking the spoken nature of Jeju dialect, it will be obvious that discoursal approaches should provide more insightful analysis for the better understanding of Jeju dialect. The present study is designed to explore the linguistic nature of yang in Jeju dialect, Therefore, the purpose of this studies is twofold: 1) to investigate the distributional aspects of yang in Jeju dialect and 2) to explore the possibility that the use of yang can be best explained from a discourse perspective. First, this study looks over the distributional aspects of yang based on the data which were collected from the Jeju Dialect Speech Contest in the year of 2005 and 2006. The findings indicate that the use of yang is not structurally restricted, appearing everywhere in a sentence. It is also shown that yang does not have to do with the propositional meaning. As a result, the present study shows that functional and pragmatic factors such as topic establishing, agreement, confirmation are not only relevant but also crucial to the determination of the use of yang.

α -절단법에 의한 다목적함수를 갖는 트러스 구조물의 형상최적화

형상최적화는 단면최적화에 비하여 구조물의 중량과 경비를 줄일 수 있다. 많은 양의 애매한 정보가 최적설계 문제의 제약조건에 존재할 수도 있다. 상대적으로 중요한 퍼지정도를 포함한 여러개의 기준을 묘사하고 다루는 것은 매우 어렵고 때로는 애매하다. 본 논문에서는 ${\alpha}$-절단법에 의한 퍼지 구조계의 다목적 형상최적화에 대한 가중치방법을 제안한다. 본 연구의 알고리즘을 2부재 트러스 구조물에 적응하여 그 결과가 검토되었다. 그 결과는 ${\alpha}$-절단법과 체적과 변위에 관한 가중치에 따른 최적해를 얻음으로써 설계자는 실제에 적합한 하나의 해를 택할 수 있음을 보여준다. The Shape optimization makes it possible to reduce the weight of structure and cost then member sizing optimization. A vast amount of imprecise information is existed in constraints of the optimum design. It is very difficult and sometimes confusing to describe and to deal with the several criteria which contain fuzzy degrees of relatives importance. This paper proposed weighting strategies in the multiobjective shape optimization of fuzzy structural system by ${\alpha}$-cut approach. The algorithm in this research is numerically tested for 2-bar truss structure. The result show that. the user can choose the one optimum solution in practices as obtaining the optimum solutions according to the ${\alpha}$-cut approach, weight of volume and displacement.

A Brief Look at Endangered Language with a special attention to Jejueo

The current talk consists of two parts: 1) To deal with status quo of endangered language from a general linguistic point of view and 2) To talk about the linguistic values of Jejueo spoken in Jeju island from an endangered linguistic viewpoint. In doing so, I want you to be able to get the insightful understanding of endangered languages in general and promote the linguistic awareness of Jejueo in specific. On one hand, I will start with the linguistic talk about the world languages followed by what is endangered language. Then, the talk goes on the criteria based on which endangered languages are classified into the different level of language vitality. Along with language vitality, it would be observed what kinds of efforts are made to save endangered languages. On the other hand, the talk will be switched upon to Jejueo registered as an endangered language. We are going to look around Jejueo, first of all, from a historical viewpoint and then linguistic values of Jejueo in a brief manner.

With the growing use of English, English slogans are easily found in Korean advertising. Among other things, the use of English is noticeable through Internet advertising. With this kind of trend in mind, the present study examines the linguistic use of English slogans on the Internet homepage of Korean colleges/universities. The main focus goes into an investigation into the meaning of words, types of sentences and phrases, and the semantic and situational meaning of slogans. The findings show that Korean concepts are directly carried over into English slogan expressions. From a structural perspective, phrase structures are preferred to the types of sentences in which declarative and imperative are more frequent. Semantically, they are summarized as including some abstract concepts such as future, dream, globalization, modern technology, etc. Also, this study show that the effective conveyance of semantic values of slogan leans heavily on the various advertising strategies(e.g., ellipsis, repetition) to maximize the intentional meaning of English slogans.

본 연구의 목적은 다음 두 개로 요약할 수 있다. 하나는 제주 지역에서 사용되는 언어인 제주어의 현재 사회적 위상에 대한 일반적인 정보를 제공하고, 또 다른 하나는 제주 지역 사회에서 시도되고 있는 언어 보전 및 활성화를 위해 어떤 노력을 기울이고 있는가를 살펴보는 것이다. 이러한 본 연구의 목적은 기존에 진행되어진 다양한 언어 연구를 검토하고 이를 종합하여 정보가 제공되어 질 것이다. 우선 본 연구는 제주에서 사용되는 언어를 지칭하는 용어에 대해 검토를 진행하고자 한다. 현재까지 널리 사용되고 있는 용어인 제주방언과 최근에 널리 사용되기 시작한 제주어의 사용에 대해 살펴보았다. 아무런 언어학적 연구와 검토 없이 전통적인 용어인 제주 방언이 빈번하게 사용되었다. 하지만, 최근 진행되어진 연구를 바탕으로 한다면 제주어는 사람들이 인식하는 바와 같이 언어적인 독자성을 갖고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 검토를 바탕으로 한다면 제주에서 사용되는 언어는 언어학적으로 그 나름의 독창적 가치가 충분히 인정되는 것으로 판단될 수 있다. 다음으로 제주어의 언어학적 다양한 연구를 살펴보았다. 기존의 연구를 종합검토하여 어떤 분야의 연구라 어떻게 진행되어왔는지 전체적면에서 연구의 흐름과 방향을 살펴보았다. 8-90년대 활발하게 진행되던 연구가 최근에는 다소 주춤함을 보이고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 계속에서 지역사회에서 제주어 보전과 활성화를 위해 어떠한 노력을 기울이고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 행정 및 시민 단체의 노력을 중심으로 제주어 보전을 위해 어떤한 노력이 경주되고 있는지 살펴보았다. 특히 최근에 진행되고 있는 다양한 제주어 보전을 위한 교육 프로그램에 대한 내용을 살펴봄으로써 향후 제주어 보전과 교육을 위해 필요한 시사점을 제시하였다. The main purpose of the current study is twofold: The first is in general to provide some information on the current status of Jejueo, the language spoken on the island of Jeju. This will be done on the basis of linguistic research of Jejueo from an academic perspective. The second focus deal specifically with the language revitalization and preservation efforts made by the local community. First of all, the paper starts with a detailed discussion of the term, Jejueo itself, by taking a historical point of view of the language spoken on the island. It is clear from our discussion that the choice of the term Jejueo is recently preferred to the term Jeju dialect in an academic or non-academic context. Then we continued to examine the status of Jejueo from a linguistic perspective, pointing out that a mutual intelligibility test is very useful to make a distinction between a dialect and a language. Next, we look over what"s been done in the study of Jejueo, counting the numbers of academic papers and books written from the very beginning to recent years. This shows us two things: what has been done from a linguistic point of view and how things have been changed in the academic camp on Jejueo. Then, we have a chance to look over some efforts made by the local government, community and civic organizations to preserve and revitalize Jejueo. Especially, it is suggested that serious efforts need to be made within Jeju education towards successfully keeping the language of Jeju preserved for the future. Lastly, some remarks are made to promote the preservation and revitalization of Jejueo.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the discourse functions of key in the Jeju language in general. More specifically, this study tries to provide an integral explanation on the seemingly syntactically-governed use of key from a discourse-functional perspective. Traditionally, key has been treated in two ways: sentence ending and emphatic particle. There, however, are no efforts made to provide some unified explanation to the physically separate use of key. Reflecting on traditional understanding, this study assumes that the use of key is pragmatically-controlled phenomenon in nature, suggesting that key has the core meaning around which derivational or secondary meaning are interpretively attached in a given discourse context. The core meaning of key has something to do with the strategy of face-saving. Based on this core meaning, the various secondary meanings could be derived to properly get through the participants`` intentions such as agreement, hold the floor, and sympathetic attitude.
