Acupuncture has been used for the treatment and prevention of stress-related disorders. In the present study, the effect of electroacupuncture on the behavioral and biochemical responses to restraint stress was evaluated in rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats underwent to immobilization stress for 21 days (6 hours/day). Electroacupuncture (2 Hz, 2 mA, and 10 minutes) was applied either to the acupuncture point HT7 (Shenmen) or the nonacupuncture point in the tail for the last 7 days. Rats were randomly divided into four groups: the normal group (n=10, without the restraint stress), the stress group (n=10, with restraint stress), the HT7 group (n=10, with restraint stress and electroacupuncture to HT7), and the NA group (n=10, with restraint stress and electroacupuncture to the nonacupuncture point). The anxiety-related behavior was tested using the elevated plus maze and the Vogel test on day 22. The expression of tyrosine hydroxylase in the locus coeruleus was measured by immunohistochemistry. R maze and the Vogecreased the response of the anxiety-related behavior. The number of tyrosine hydroxylase-immunoreactive cells were also increased. The HT7 group showed a significant decrease of anxiety-related behavioral response, compared to the stress group. The tyrosine hydroxylase-immunoreactive expression was also decreased in the HT7 group. These findings suggestthat electroacupuncture to HT7 might play a role in reducing the stress-related responses, which may be helpful for the treatment of stress-related disorders.
An optimal environmental test sequence based on severity for electrical units in automobiles

Electronics in automobiles must operate safely and have excellent reliability;however, components are often unreliable and cause product recalls. There is an urgent need to solve this problem. Conventionally, components are tested individually so it is not possible to simulate environmental failures. The purpose of this study was to utilize severe field-simulations and to propose determining environmental test sequence a 2-phase process for automotive electronics that satisfy the minimum severity for each leg and minimize the test cost. In this work, we examined international standards to understand testing sequences, and calculated the severity of ISO 16750 test items, based on an analytic hierarchy process. The modeled functions were established, and test sequences were optimized using a genetic algorithm. The proposed test sequence was based on the results of this analysis by assumed real conditions. Additionally, the variance analysis was performed for the affected total cost to find factors about determined test sequences. Finally, significant test sequences of ISO 16750 were partially presented by analyzing the results for applying in the automotive industry.
The role of the supramammillary area of the hypothalamus in cognitive functions

The supramammillary area (SUM) of the hypothalamus has wide spread connection with numerous brain structures. It is known that the SUM can control the frequency of the hippocampal theta rhythm, which plays a role in the cognitive functions of the hippocampal formation. In order to examine the role of the specific cells of the SUM in learning and memory, selective cholinergic neurotoxic or excitotoxic lesioned rats of the SUM were tested for spatial memory on the Morris water maze (MWM) test. After the behavior tests, the expression of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in the hippocampus was studied using the immunohistochemistry. In the MWM test, both lesion of the SUM with 192 IgG-saporin or ibotenic acid produced the impairment of spatial learning and memory. The expression of AChE immunreactive neurons in the hippocampal CA3 region was decreased after injections of 192 IgG-saporin into the SUM. These findings suggest that cholinoceptive cells of the SUM area may play a critical role in the process of learning and memory.
Effect of the Electroacupuncture at ST36 in TMT-induced Memory Deficit Rats

In order to the neuroprotective effect of electroacupuncture (EA), the present study examined the effects of electroacupuncture inacupoint ST36 (Stomach 36) on trimethyltin chloride (TMT)-induced cognitive impairments rat using the Morris water maze (MWM) task and immunohistochemistry staining. The rats were randomly divided into the following groups: naïve rat (Normal), TMT injection rat (Control), TMT injection + EA treated rat inacupoint ST36 (ST36) and TMT injection + EA treated rat in non-acupoint, base of tail (Non-AC). Electroacupuncture (2Hz, 2mA, and 10 minutes)was applied either to the acupuncture point ST36 or the nonacupuncture point in the tail for the last 14 days. In the water maze test, the animals were trained to find a platform in a fixed position during 4d and then received 60s probe trial on the 5^th day following removal of platform from the pool. Rats with TMT injection showed impaired learning and memory of the tasks and treatment with EA in acupoint ST36 (P<0.05) produced a significant improvement in escape latency to find the platform after 2^nd day and retention trial in the Morris water maze. Consistent with behavioral data, treatment with EA in acupoint ST36 also significantly increased expression of Choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) and Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) immunoreactive neurons in the hippocampus compared to the Control group. These results demonstrated that EA in acupoint ST36 has a protective effect against TMT-induced neuronal and cognitive impairments. The present study suggests that EA in acupoint ST36 might be useful in the treatment of TMT-induced learning and memory deficit.

차량 내부에 장착된 칵핏 모듈은 운전자가 가장 밀접한 부품 중에 하나로 다양한 기능을 제공하고 있다. 칵핏 모듈은 다양한 플라스틱 소재로 구성되어 있으므로 사용에 따른 소음 발생에 관한 클레임이 주로 발생한다. 소음 고장은 감성 품질에 해당하여 신뢰성 평가가 어려운 특징이 존재한다. 정량적인 신뢰성 평가를 위해서 칵핏 모듈의 고장 메커니즘을 파악하여 열화시험을 위한 스트레스 인자와 수준 결정을 수행하였다. 그리고 시험 프로파일 설계 후 시험을 통해서 소음을 측정하였다. 측정된 소음 데이터를 기반으로 포화수증기압과 온도 변화에 노출되는 빈도에 기반하여 필드 수명을 추정하였다. 설계된 열화시험을 수행한 결과, 사이클 횟수가 증가할수록 소음이 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 이에 기반하여 외삽을 통한 수명 추정을 수행하였다. 설계한 열화시험을 통해서 감성 품질에 관한 정량적인 수명 추정 방법을 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 감성 품질의 신뢰성 시험법에 관한 가이드 라인을 제안할 수 있다.
