본 논문은 셀룰로이드와 웹캠이라는 이질적인 매체들을 혼합한 동시대 실험 애니메이션영화 『빨간 구멍』(감독: 서영주, 2013)을 분석한다. 『빨간 구멍』은 빠른 속도로 변화하고 있는 현 미디어 상황에서 아날로그와 디지털을 대표하는 각 매체들의 존재론적 특수성을 고찰하고, 이들이 발생시키는 다층적인 이미지 효과들을 탐색하고 있다. 먼저 『빨간 구멍』은 디지털 시대에 소멸되어가는 셀룰로이드에 주목하여 16mm 붉은색 필름 리더에 구멍을 뚫어 매체의 물질적 속성을 강조함과 동시에 영화의 조건과 장치를 드러내었다. 또한 『빨간 구멍』은 10년 전 녹화한 웹캠 영상을 소환하여 원격현전하였던 여성/어머니 이미지를 파편적이고 반복적으로 보여줌으로써 웹캠 비디오가 지니는 가상성과 디지털 기술의 환영성을 폭로하였다. 이러한 맥락에서 본고는 『빨간 구멍』의 매체 수행 방식을 중심으로 매체의 형식과 내용이 어떻게 상호보완적으로 작동하며 인식론적 함의를 파생시키는지를 분석한다. This study is to examine through 『The Red Hole』(directed by Suh, Yong Chu, 2013), a contemporary experimental animated film, which is a mixture of heterogeneous media of celluloid and webcam. In the rapidly changing media environment of today, 『The Red Hole』 explores ontological characteristics of the analogue and digital media, and searches the multi-level effects of images generated from the media. First, 『The Red Hole』 focuses on the celluloid, a slowly disappearing medium of the digital age, and emphasizes the materiality and the apparatus in the cinematic condition by punching holes in 16mm red film leader. Second, 『The Red Hole』 reveals the virtuality and phantasmatization of the digital technology by showing and manipulating the webcam video footage of a telepresented female/mother -a low quality video recorded about 10 years ago. In this context, this study deals with how the form and the content of media complementarily interact each other and examines through the epistemic implication of the media images according to the performative method of 『The Red Hole』.

This paper analyzes performative representation techniques of the animated film <Miss Park Project #1>(2017), and examines the close relationship between the form and the concept of it via mediality and indexicality of animation. First, it explores the performativity of animators and transformation of materials occurring in the interstices between frames, based on Norman McLaren’s definition of animation, and explains how the indexical traces that are the necessary byproduct of this mechanism make up the animated film. Next, it reviews the form of each technique of collage, décollage and rotoscoping technique of <Miss Park Project #1> and its method of creating ideas and meanings. Images of real-life subjects from modern Korean history are appropriated by collaging and decollaging photographs and rotoscoping films. In this way, <Miss Park Project #1> conjures the innumerable lives of women which cannot be singularly symbolized and defined. Furthermore, it explores the connection between the methodology and the medium which expands the aesthetics of animated film. 본 논문은 애니메이션영화 <미쓰 박 프로젝트 #1(Miss Park Project #1)>(2017)에서 수행적으로 유용한콜라주, 데콜라주, 로토스코핑 기법을 매체성과 지표성을 경유하여 분석하고, 이러한 방법론적 구성이 어떻게 작품의 기획 의도와 유기적으로 연결되어 내용과 의미를 생성하는지 살펴본다. 이를 위해 먼저 노먼 매클러렌(Norman McLaren)이 정의한 애니메이션의 개념을 바탕으로 애니메이션영화 매체와 지표성의 관계를 밝힌다. 이어 사진이나 실사영화와 같이 실제로 존재하였던 대상을 지표적으로 지시하는 이미지를 활용한 <미쓰 박 프로젝트 #1>의 수행 방식과 형식을 설명한다. 여기서는 한국의 근현대 시기의 인물 사진을 붙이고 지우고를 반복하며 켜켜이 쌓아올린 후 이를 다시 뜯어내는 순환적 과정을 프레임별로 촬영하며 애니메이션화시킨 콜라주와 데콜라주, 그리고 할머니들의 막춤을 로토스코핑 기법으로 구현한 표현 방식이 구체적으로 분석된다. 마지막으로 이를통해 창출되는 시각 효과를 고찰함으로써 작품이 형성하고자 하는 의미를 기획 의도와 함께 검토한다.

Literature has been repeatedly recognized as an effective source of authentic materials in EFL classrooms. Literature exposes learners to coherent and expert writing which can enable them to write better and facilitates students’ creative writing skills. The purpose of this study was to investigate the teaching procedures of using short fiction in a Korean high school EFL course in which English writing and reading skills are integrated and to provide pedagogical suggestions for using authentic literature in EFL classrooms. First, this paper introduces a theoretical discussion of the advantages of using short fiction in an English writing instruction, and discusses reasons for selecting the Korean short novel Dongbackkot and the English short story “Araby” as resources for writing. After that pedagogical steps with practical classroom activities are described. We hope that the pedagogical suggestions provided here may inspire English teachers to design their teaching materials using appropriate literary texts to improve their students’ English essay writing and balanced communication skills.

Four lectins were purified from Taro tuber (Colocasia antiquorum var. Schott) using ion-exchange chromatography on CM-cellulose and isoelectric focusing. They were designated as I, II, Ill and IV in order of the elution. Lectin I and IV proved homogeneous by disk polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. According to the determination of molecular weight of native and denatured lectins, lectin I and IV were trirners composed of each homogeneous subunit molecular weight of 11,000, a and β type, re¬spectively. Lectin II and Ill had two types of subunits, a and 13, and were composed of three subunits. The subunit compositions were found to be 3α for I, 2αlβf for II, lα2β for Ill and 3β for IV. The purified lectin contained 2% carbohydrate. All fractions were rich in the acidic amino acids. These lectins had similar agglutinating activities toward erythrocytes obtained from mouse, rabbit and rat, and decreased slightly in activity after mixed with pepsin.
