        Assessment of Absorption Property for Five Species According to Soaking Conditions for Manufacturing a Cask for Ripening Traditional Liquor

        To study the suitability of chestnut as a cask for ripening traditional liquors, the absorption property for pure water, liquor with 30% alcohol content and ethanol with 95% alcohol content were investigated for five species. Oriental oak had the greatest amount of liquid absorption while chestnut had the smallest amount. The absorption amount linearly increased with increasing soaking time. The absorption amounts for each section were greatest in RT plane, and the difference between LR plane and LT plane was very small for all soaking conditions. The anisotropy of absorption amount for five species was greatest in Japanese cedar and was smallest in white mulberry on the whole. And the change of absorption amounts according to soaking conditions tended to decrease in softwoods and increase in hardwoods, and the difference among wood species was not clear. From this result, it was found that chestnut with a small absorption amount, regarding of soaking behavior, was a good material as a cask for ripening traditional liquors, whereas small diameter oriental oak with a great absorption amount was not suitable in this purpose.

        갑오개혁 이전 조선정부의 검역규칙 제정과 개정문제의 대두— 「朝鮮通商口防備瘟疫暫設章程」을 중심으로 —

        In this article, after the Joseon government enacted ‘Temporary Regulations for the Prevention of the Introduction of Infectious Diseases at the Corean Treaty ports in 1887’(朝鮮通商口防備瘟疫暫設章程), it reviewed the revised requirements that emerged in the process of operating the rules at the treaty ports. These ports were the primary gateways to manage and control the movement of people and materials using ships. The key issues were how to develop quarantine activities to prevent infectious disease, and how to cooperate with each country. In particular, the parties that had the greatest interests in quarantine issues were Joseon and Japan. The two countries ironed out their positions in establishing and operating quarantine regulations on several occasions. As time went by since the enforcement of the temporary quarantine regulations, the need to arrange operational suppplement arouse. The Japanese consuls in Wonsan and Busan presented their opinions on the matters that need to be improved in the future. These issues included the management of supervision between the Joseon Maritime Customs officer and the quarantine committee member of the local area, the expansion of the number of quarantine members, and how to deal with the expenses of moving patients from the ship to a Cholera hospital and treating them after entering the port. Konsuke Hayashi(林權助), the Japanese Consul residing in Incheon, said, “The quarantine inspections being carried out by the Joseon government are not very effective”, expressing discontent and distrust over the operation and insisting that the quarantine regulations should be newly enacted to suit Japan’s interests. To improve the problem, the Japanese minister resident Teisuke Kajiyama(梶山鼎介) collected opinions from the consuls and prepared a revised version of the quarantine regulations based on the suggestions. However, the revision of the regulation required consultations and consent of foreign diplomats, as well as officials of Joseon government. Therefore, the negotiations for the revision did not go as easily as Japan had intended. .

        녹차-목재섬유복합보드의 정적 휨 강도성능에 미치는 녹차배합비율의 영향

        In this study, eco-friendly hybrid composite boards were manufactured from green tea and wood fibers for application as interior materials with various functionalities of green tea and strong strength properties of wood fibers. In this relation, the effect of green tea content on the static bending strength performances of these green tea and wood fibers composite boards were investigated. Static bending strengths of hybrid composite boards were lower than those of control boards and decreased with the increase of green tea content. Also, the strength performances appeared to be somewhat different by resin type used for board manufacture. The hybrid composite boards manufactured from E1 grade urea resin adhesive, which has higher molar ratio of formaldehyde to urea than that of E0 grade one, were 1.08~1.53 times higher in bending modulus of elasticity (MOE) and 1.19~1.82 higher in modulus of rupture (MOR) than that manufactured from E0 grade. And, the differences of MOE and MOR between hybrid composite boards manufactured from E0 grade and E0 grade urea resin adhesive increased with the increase of green tea content. In the case of hybrid composite boards manufactured from E1 grade urea resin adhesive, the MOR was within 0.94~1.03 times the commercial medium density fiberboard. Thus, it was thought that eco-friendly hybrid composite boards with various functionalities and strong strength performances could be manufactured from green tea and wood fibers. 이 연구에서는 녹차를 이용한 친환경 복합보드를 건축내장재로의 활용을 위하여, 녹차의 다양한 기능성과 목재섬유의 우수한 강도특성을 살려 녹차-목재섬유 복합보드를 제작하였고, 녹차-목재섬유 복합보드의 정적 휨강도성능에 미치는 녹차와 목재섬유 배합비율 및 접착제의 영향을 조사하였다. 녹차-목재섬유복합보드의 휨 강도성능은 녹차의 배합에 따라 대조보드 (control 보드)의 그것보다 감소하였는데, 그 감소비율은 전반적으로 녹차배합비율이 증가할수록 커지는 경향을 나타내었다. 또한, 보드제조에 사용된 수지의 종류에 따라 강도성능의 차이가 나타났는데, 포름알데히드 방산량이 많은 E1급 요소수지가 E0급 요소수지보다 휨 탄성계수에서는 1.08∼1.53배 그리고 휨 강도는 1.19∼1.82배의 더 높은 값을 나타내었으며, 녹차의 배합비율이 커질수록 양자의 차이는 커지는 것이 확인되었다. 휨 강도는 E1급 요소수지의 경우, 시판용 중밀도섬유판 (medium density fiberboard, MDF)의 0.94∼1.03배의 값을 나타내어 시판용 중밀도섬유판과 거의 차이가 없었고, 녹차와 목재섬유를 복합한 우수한 친환경 기능성복합보드제조가 가능한 것이 밝혀졌다.

      • Page kidney after botulinum toxin injection during chiropractic care

        Page kidney refers to the phenomenon of hypertension secondary to long-standing compression of renal parenchyma caused by renal subcapsular collection. The most common cause of renal subcapsular collection is a hematoma which usually occurs after a history of blunt trauma. A 42-year-old female patient who received botulinum toxin injection in her back during chiropractic care was admitted to the emergency room with sudden bilateral flank pain and hypertension. The computed tomography (CT) images demonstrated the presence of bilateral subcapsular renal hematoma. The patient was treated conservatively and recovered well. The follow up CT images showed markedly resolved bilateral hematoma.

        The reactivation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) is well known complication among lymphoma patient related with chemotherapy. Rituximab is monoclonal antibody that targets B-lymphocytes for treatment of lymphoma and it increases reactivation of HBV. Although most of reactivation occurs in HBV carrier, it can also rarely occur when hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is negative. Furthermore it is less frequently reported in lymphoma patient when HBV serology shows HBsAg is negative and anti-HBs is positive. We report a case of HBV reactivation following 6 cycle of rituximab plus CHOP (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, prednisone) chemotherapy for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in HBsAg negative/anti-HBs positive 58-year-old male, with a review of the literature.

        함경도 방곡령 실시와 배상을 둘러싼 중앙 정계와 지역사회의 동향(1889~1893)

        This article examined the activities of local governments, merchants, and investigators dispatched to the region who responded according to their interests in relation to the implementation of the Grain Export Prohibition Order in Hamgyeong province, and their impact on central politics and local communities. The reaction of local governments and local merchants over the profits from grain distribution and sales cannot be understood as simply to prevent grain outflow from foreign invasion and to protect the local economy. In order to investigate the situation, Korea and Japan government dispatched officials to Hamgyeong province. In Joseon, Lim Eung-ho was dispatched as an inspector. During the investigation, local people were forced to spare themselves and avoid trading grain with Japanese merchants, fearing the possibility of retaliation by incumbent officials related to Cho Byung-sik, the governor of Hamgyeong province. While the investigator worked in the area, some secretly investigated the irregularities under the direction of Cho. The information they collected was later used to impeach and detain Lim in the mediation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan dispatched Ishii Kikujiro to Wonsan. Ishii interviewed local merchants and investigated the books to see if the amount claimed for damages was appropriate and reasonable. During the investigation, he confirmed that it was somewhat difficult to prove the extent of damage claimed by the Japanese merchants in Wonsan, and instructed them to re-assign and submit the whole amount for compensation. Min Eung-sik was the leading figure in Joseon politics defending Cho. Min was against the compensation for the Grain Export Prohibition Order and led the replacement of minister of Foreign Office. After contacting the Japanese legation officials, Daewongun attempted to redeem his political influence by using stalled negotiations between Joseon and Japan, leaking the information within the government to the Japanese side. In the compensation negotiations following the implementation of Grain Export Prohibition, various local and central forces intervened deeply according to their interests, greatly affecting the grain trade in the local community. It can be seen that the implementation of the Grain Export Prohibition Order and compensation negotiations were a domestic issue closely linked to political forces in the cabinet. 이 글에서는 함경도 지역의 방곡령 실시와 관련하여 지방관과 상인, 지역에 파견된 관리가 각자의 이해관계에 따라 대응한 양상과, 이들의 활동이 중앙 정계와 지역사회에 미친 영향을 검토하였다. 곡물 유통과 판매를 통해서 얻을 수 있는 이익을 둘러싸고 지방관과 지역 상인이 보인 반응은 방곡령 실시가 단순히 외세 침탈로부터 곡물 유출을 막고 지역경제를 보호하기 위한 차원만으로 이해할 수 없다. 함경도 상황을 조사하기 위해서 조일 양국은 관원을 현지에 보냈다. 조선에서는 임응호를 판핵관으로 파견하였다. 조사 과정에서 지역민들은 함경감사와 관련이 있는 현직 관리들의 보복 가능성을 우려하며 몸을 사리고, 일본 상인과의 곡물 거래를 꺼릴 수밖에 없었다. 판핵관이 지역에서 활동하는 동안 조병식의 지시를 받아 비위를 몰래 조사한 자들도 있었다. 이들이 수집한 정보는 이후 조정에서 임응호를 탄핵하고 구금시키는데 활용되었다. 외무성에서는 이시이 기쿠지로를 원산에 파견하였다. 그는 현지 상인들과 면담하고 장부를 조사하면서 손해배상으로 청구한 금액이 적정하고 타당한지 조사하였다. 조사 중 원산 재류 일본인들이 주장하는 피해액에 다소 증빙하기 어려운 점이 있다는 사실을 확인하고, 전체 배상액을 재산정하여 제출하도록 지도하였다. 함경감사 조병식을 비호한 조정의 유력자는 민응식이었다. 민응식은 방곡령에 대한 배상 반대론을 주장하였고, 외아문 독판의 교체를 주도하였다. 일본공사관 측과 접촉한 대원군은 조정 내 분위기와 정보를 일본 측에 흘리면서 교착상태에 빠진 조일 간 교섭을 이용하여 자신의 정치적 영향력을 만회해 보려 시도하였다. 함경도의 방곡 시행과 배상 교섭에는 지방과 중앙의 여러 세력이 각자의 이해관계에 따라 개입하면서 지역사회에 많은 영향을 미쳤다. 방곡령 시행과 배상 교섭은 조정 내 정치세력과 긴밀하게 연동된 내정 문제였음을 알 수 있다.
