Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) was a well-known myeloproliferative neoplasm and a disease of haemopoietic stem cells due to BCR-ABL fusion protein arising from a translocation t(9;22), known as the Philadelphia chromosome. Imatinib (Gleevec), a selective small molecule inhibitor of Bcr-Abl kinase, has been confirmed as the standard drug therapy for CML. Discovery of imatinib led to the availability of a molecular-targeted therapy as a new model of cancer treatment and challenged the molecular target cancer treatment trend from non-targeted cytotoxic chemotherapy. We reviewed the advancement of chronic myeloid leukemia treatment in the area of imatinib.

To attract foreign tourists and earn foreign exchanges, three new foreigners-only casinos were opened in 2006. This study is to analyze the effect of three new foreigners-only casinos' market on casino industry through their business track records including revenue and the number of casino users. For this research purpose, intervention model was introduced. The outcomes of this study are as follows: firstly, market entry of new three exclusive casinos have resulted in a monthly net revenue of about 8,2 billions won from Jan. 2006 to Oct. 2006. Secondly, the number of gamblers in this exclusive casino have been increased every month and estimated a rise by 664.080 users. Finally implications are suggested and discussed.

This study is to explore the cultural capital's effect on and furthermore to contend the importance of cultural capital in consumption of leisure activities from the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu's ‘Cultural Capital theory’. The survey was conducted to test the influence of cultural capital on various leisure activities to the working employees. The negative binominal regression model was applied under the control of such variables as economic capital, sex, age and birth region. The result showed that cultural capital made an statistically significant influence, implying that cultural capital as well as economic one tends to be a determinant of leisure consumption. Considering participation cost in leisure consumption being getting lower at forseeable future, one could expect that the influence of cultural capital would ever be greater.핵심용어(Key words):문화자본(cultural capital), 여가소비(leisure consumption), 음이항 회귀모형(negative binomial regression model)

스포츠 참여에 미치는 문화자본의 영향 - 스키와 골프 참여를 중심으로 -

This study is to investigate participants in sport activities from the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu's 'Cultural Capital theory', to explore the cultural capital's effect on, and furthermore to contend the importance of cultural capital in participating sports activities. For this purpose, the survey was conducted to test the influence of cultural capital on ski and golf activities to the employees working at the office in Seoul. For the empirical analysis, negative binominal regression model was applied under the control of such variables as economic capital, sex, age and birth region. In particular, cultural capital was measured both indirectly and directly. The result of analysis showed that cultural capital made an statistically significant influence indirectly and directly. This result implied that cultural capital as well as economic one could be determinants of sports activities. It also suggested that the influence of cultural capital would be bigger considering sports cost getting lowering from now on. 본 연구는 문화자본의 보유정도를 간접적인 방법뿐만 아니라 직접적인 방법으로 측정하여, 문화자본이 스포츠 참여, 특히 스키와 골프 참여에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 시행되었다. 이를 위한 연구 대상으로는 수도권 지역 내 직장인 성인 남녀가 선정되었으며, 스포츠 참여에 미치는 문화자본의 영향력을 검증하기 위해서는 경제자본, 성별, 연령, 출신지역을 통제한 후 음이항 회귀모형을 적용하였다. 이때 문화자본의 간접 측정은 부모의 학력(상속된 문화자본)과 본인의 학력(획득된 문화자본)을 통하여, 그리고 문화자본의 직접 측정은 부모의 영향을 받아서 나타난 본인의 문화예술에 대한 관심, 문화예술 활동, 문화예술에 대한 정보 획득(상속된 문화자본)을 통하여 행하여졌다. 분석결과 문화자본은, 그 형태가 간접측정에 의한 것이든 직접측정에 의한 것이든, 스포츠 참여에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 획득된 문화자본이 스포츠 활동 참여에 미치는 영향은 상속된 문화자본이(간접적 측정이든 직접적 측정이든) 스포츠 활동 참여에 미치는 영향보다 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기존의 경제자본뿐만 아니라 문화자본이 스포츠 참여에 결정적인 영향을 미친다고 하는 사회학적 의의를 내포하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 서구에 비하여 어린 시절 가정 내에서 문화적 취향이나 성향을 습득할 수 있는 기회가 상대적으로 적었던 우리사회의 경우 초기 사회화 과정(가정교육) 보다는 공식적인 교육을 통한 이차 사회화 과정(학교 교육)이 주로 스포츠 활동 참여를 결정하는 중요한 요인이라고 하는 것을 나타내는 것이라고 할 수 있을 것이다.

To examine the relationship between climate and tree-ring growth of Pinus densiflora S. et Z. growing in the ridges of the Baekdudaegan, it was analyzed the sample cores of 48 trees were collected from 21 sites. After the pattern of tree rings of all Pinus densiflora were cross-dating each other, it was recognized the growth of Pinus densiflora was affected by climate largely when tree-ring chronologies were standardized to remove the age-related growth. As a cluster analysis was conducted to examine the similarity of chronologies, three clusters were classified, the tree-ring growths of Pinus densiflora was not by regional or elevational gradients but by the growth tree-ring width amplitude as micro-site growth environments. Correlation coefficients between the chronologies of three clusters and monthly climate (temperature and precipitation) factors were obtained. As a result, tree-ring growth of Pinus densiflora was more affected by temperature than precipitation and the trees of high-growth cluster possessed less climatic influences. 백두대간의 마루금일대에 자라는 소나무 연륜생장과 기후와의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 21개 지역에서 48본 시료의 연륜을 분석하였다. 모든 지역의 소나무 연륜패턴이 서로 크로스데이팅 되어 우리나라 소나무의 생장이 기후에 크게 영향을 받는다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이들 연륜연대기는 3개의 군집으로 구분할 수 있었는데, 지역적으로 그리고 해발 고도에 따라 분류되지 않아 백두대간에 분포하는 소나무의 연륜생장은 지역이나 고도보다는 미소 (microsite) 생육환경에 따른 생장량의 대소에 따라 분류되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 백두대간 소나무의 연륜생장과 기후(월 강수량과 월 평균기온)와의 관계를 상관계수로 분석한 결과, 백두대간 소나무의 연륜생장은 강수보다는 기온에 영향을 많이 받으며, 생장이 양호한 군집이 기후의 영향을 덜 받는 것으로 나타났다.

Rhabdomyolysis is a syndrome characterized by muscle necrosis and release of intracellular muscle constituents into the circulation. The spectrum of causes is quite broad and included disorders of traumatic, metabolic, infectious and toxic origin. However, rhabdomvolvsis and acute renal failure following bee sting is rare and its pathogenesis is not well known. We experienced a case of 63-year-old man with acute renal failure and rhabdomyolysis caused by bee sting. He was stung by bee on scalp and neck. Oliguria was developed within several hours. He has fully recovered after general supportive care including fluid therapy and diuretics. This case demonstrates that rhabdomvolysis with consequent acute renal failure are able to developed by bee sting.
