Many accidents are being occurred due to many missteps, etc. at the railway platform. Recently in Korea, efforts to prevent casualties fundamentally are being made by installing and operating the PSD(Platform Screen Door) with underground station building as its center to prevent these casualties of passengers. Although this PSD can solve the problem of public casualties at platform fundamentally, it is impossible to install it at whole station buildings since its installation cost is high, and in case of the ground station building of general railway whose operation speed is higher, installation of PSD is impossible due to the characteristics of railway system. This paper proposes the novel safety equipment using Laser radar sensors for the prevention against casualties of passengers at station buildings where the PSDs are not installed like this. The safety equipment using Laser radar sensors is the safety equipment making an approaching train stopped if the falling object is a person by detecting the obstacle at platform through, and it has the merit possible to apply it to station buildings not only in the underground section but also in the ground section since it may detect accurately under ambient environmental elements such as the snow, rain and yellow dust, etc. also. We developed the prototype of the safety equipment to reduce public casualties at platform by using Laser radar sensors and carried out its performance test, and the result is presented in this paper.

The Communication Based Train Control(CBTC) System generally used to improving existing lines in the world is efficient and stable for improvement. Also it is efficient for improvement because it does not cause any problems in operation of existing lines. We examined the mixed operation scheme for more efficient and stable improvement when improvement is implemented depending on aged equipment and the increased number of passengers in the Korean city railroad. The biggest point in the mixed operation is to implement a stable test without interfering with the operation of the existing lines. For this purpose, we deduced a method of installing the equipment, a method of testing depending on the installed equipment, and the types of mixed operation, and presented a scheme of execution of the methods depending on the mixed operation.

In this paper, We elicit the necessity of the Autonomous Decentralized Traffic Control System by analyzing problems of the Centralized Traffic Control System and present operation system. The automatic traffic control system using in large and high-density railway stations is designed and implemented on the basis of the elicited necessity in this paper. It is proposed to use broadcasting protocol for interface of stations in order to ensure autonomy. The result is that advantages of the Autonomous Decentralized Traffic Control System makes on-line expansion and maintenance available, step-by-step construction available, and reduce the area of the influences of system fault when any system fault happens.

ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 is currently planning, making contract, constructing and operating at several lines in European well-developed railway countries different from past ten years ago, and applying extensively for purpose of its inter compatibility and operational efficiency, and economic feasibility. On the other hand, ATP system correspond to ETCS Level 1, which was domestically introduced in early 2000, has introduced, operated, and planned or constructed in national railway network, but the lines, which its improvement period is come, are being occurred starting Gyeongbu Line. Therefore, we study the consideration and construction plan by stages if LTE-R Korean Radio-based Train Control System for conventional & high-speed railway under domestic development is extensively applied as the third National Railway Network Construction Plan was announced.

The cardiovascular manifestations in hyperthyroidism are sinus tachycardia, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, atrioventricular block, bundle branch block(especially right bundle branch block), angina pectoris, heart failure and cardiomyopathy. Of these, angina pectoris is commonly seen in hyperthyroidism with coronary artery disease and the potential mechanisms have been attributed to the increased metabolic demand and consequently increased cardiac work which result in the more demand of coronary blood flow than that can be delivered via a fixed atherosclerotic coronary artery stenosis. Hyperthyroidism associated anginas without underlying coronary artery stenosis have also been reported where the mechanism of these was suspected to be the coronary vasospasm. Ventricular fibrillation may occur in the thyrotoxic patients due to myocardial ischemia such as variant angina, but it is very rare in the condition without previous heart disease. A 30-year-old male was admitted to the hospital because of palpitation, weight loss and proptosis for the previous 3 months. There was no history of effort related chest pain, syncope, drug abuse or medical illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension. The laboratory results were, TSH: 0.38uU/mL(0.4~5,0 uU/mL), free T4: 8.9ng/dL(0.8~1.9ng/dL), TSH receptor antibody: 43.6%(-15~15%), antiTPO antibody: 5000 IU/mL(0~100 IU/mL). The initial EKG showed normal sinus rhythm. He was diagnosed as Graves disease with ophthalmopathy, class 3a and was put on propylthiouracil 200 mg po tid, propanolol 40 mg po tid and started solumedrol pulse therapy for the exophthalmos on the first day of admission. He was found to have generalized tonic seizure with apnea attack on second hospital day and twice thereafter. Ventricular fibrillation was documented at that time. DC cardioversion was performed with successful response. After the attack, he was treated as accelerated hyperthyroidism namely with increased dosage of propylthiouracil, dexamethasone and Lugols solution, The echocardiogram, treadmill test, ergonovine echocardiography, coronary angiography and electrophysiologic study disclosed no abnormalities. Further episodes of ventricular fibrillation didnt occur after being euthyroid state. In conclusion, we report a case of ventricular fibrillation associated with hyperthyroidism itself without underlying coronary artery disease with brief review of literatures(J Kor Soc Endocrinol 13:459-465, 1998).
