This study examined the change in sea surface temperature (SST) around the Korean peninsula since industrialization at year 1880, and its possible causes using observation based data from the Hadley Center, the Goddard Institute of Space Studies, and National Climate Data Center. Since year 1880, There have been multi-decadal fluctuations with a gradual reduction from 1880 to around 1940, and from 1950-1980. There has then been a marked increase from 1940-1950, and from 1980 to the present. The ocean surface warming is larger during the boreal winter than summer, and greater in the south. The multi-decadal SST fluctuations around the Korean Peninsula are largely consistent with the negative phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), which fluctuates with periods of about 20-50 years. Secondly, the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), whose long period component moves along with the PDO, appears to influence the SST near the Korean Peninsula, especially in recent decades. Overall, the SST around the Korean Peninsula has warmed since year 1880 by about 1oC, which is about twice the global-mean ocean surface warming. This long-term warming is aligned with an increase in greenhouse gas concentration, as well as local factors such as the PDO.
Virulence Characteristics of Sucrose-fermenting Vibrio vulnificus Strains

We identified 6 sucrose-fermenting Vibrio vulnificus strains and examined their virulence characteristics. They were all encapsulated, motile, capable of producing toxins and utilizing transferrin-bound iron, cytotoxic to cultured cells, and virulent enough to kill mice. They could be definitely identified only by genetic identification methods such as PCR, and not by conventional culture-based identification methods such as API 20E (bioMérieux, France). These results indicate that it is essential to adopt genetic approaches as early as possible in order to avoid misdiagnosis of such strains, especially in clinical situations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Swedish Abdominal Massage (SAM) on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and constipation in university student with psychological stress and constipation. The subjects were 26 university students and each person was randomly assigned to MLD and SAM group. We measured the activities of ANS using the Electrocardiogram (ECG) and checked the scores of State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and frequency of evacuation at pre, and after treatment for 4 weeks. The post-treatment LF, LF/HF rato were significantly higher in the MLD group than in the SAM group (p<.05). A comparison of STAI between groups indicated a significantly greater reduction in anxiety for MLD group (p<.05). These results suggest that MLD produces long-term positive change in parasympathetic nerve activity.

저공해 소각 시스템이 구성되어 현재 폐기물처리의 주축을 이루고 있으나 경제 발전과 환경에 대한 인식, 재활용을 위한 분리수거율 향상 등으로 인하여 폐기물의 발열량이 점차 증가되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 높은 발열량을 이용한 에너지의 효율적 이용에 대한 요구와 소각로에서 필수적으로 수반되는 중금속 ash문제, dioxin의 저감문제 등을 보다 효과적으로 처리하는 방법에 대한 연구가 끊임없이 지속되어 왔다. 여기에서는 최근에 가장 현실적으로 접근되고 있는 열분해시스템, 열분해용융시스템, 열분해가스화용융시스템의 대표적인 설비에 관하여 기술하였다. The present main research direction of waste treatment is the development of incineration system for low pollution. Also, heat value of waste is increased because of the rising of living standard, environmental consideration and collection of sorted waste for recycling. Therefore, many researches have been continued for solving ash problem including heavy metals, dioxin problem and high energy efficiency by use of high heat value. This study is described for the facilities of pyrolysis system, pyrolysis-melting system, pyrolysis-gasification melting system.
