Detection of Pressure Waves in Water by Using Optical Techniques

The change in the transmision of light going through a liquid is expresed as a change in the presure in the liquid and the presure wave in the water is detected by measuring that change in the transmision of light. A piezo transducer is instaled on the botom of the water container to generate presure wave. The presure wave in the water is detected using a photodiode aligned with a laser beam going through the liquid. The photodiode detects intensity oscilations in the transmision light. Those oscilations are caused by a change in the refractive index due to density oscilations from the presure wave in the water. The oscilation amplitude of the detected light intensity increases linearly with the presure of the wave.

Sarcoma 180 유발후(誘發後)의 생쥐의 생존(生存) 시간(時間)에 대(對)한 Cyclophosphamide, Corynebacterium Parvum 및 Tubercin-3의 단독(單獨) 및 병합역여(倂合役與)의 영향(影響)

Eighty of Sarcoma 180 bearing mice, averaging 30 gm of body weight, were divided into eight groups of animals receiving Saline as the control, Corynebacterium parvum, Tubercin-3 and Cyclophosphamide alone and Cyclophosphamide combined with C. parvum, with Tubercin-3 and with both C. parvum and Tubercin-3 and Tubercin-3 combined with C. parvum respectively. Treatment was initiated 4.8 hours after tumor implantation and repeated three times once a day. Doses were suspended or dissolved in 0.2 ml of Saline: 1.4 mg of C. parvum: 0.5 micrograms of Tubercin-3; and 2.7 mg of Cyclophosphamide either in alone or in combination. All the agents given were administered subcutaneously but Cyclophosphamide was given intraperitoneally. The observation on the general conditions of animal took place twice a day following the treatment until the time of death after tumor implantation was determined. Average survival days in each group were as follows: In Control, Saline (11.2 days), C. parvum (14.8 days), Tubercin-3 (16.7 days), Cyclophosphamide(18.7 days). In combination therapy, Cyclophosphamide with C. parvum(22.8 days) with Tubercin-3 (26.9 days). Cyclophosphamide with both C. parvum an Tubercin-3, however, was somewhat longer than in Cyclophosphamide alone but shorter than in combined with either one of C. parvum or Tubercin-3. Finally, in combination with immunotherapeutic agents, Tubercin-3 and C. parvum each other it (8.2 days) was shorter even than Control. Life span of host is, in generally, inversely related to the number of malignant cells and conclusively, the therapeutic potentiation was reflected to be extended survival in combined treatment of a chemotherapeutic Cyclophosphamide with either one of immunotherapeutics, Tubercin-3 or C. parvum. Tubercin-3 and C. parvum in combination, however, appeared to be antagonistic each other.

옛사진을 통해 보는 전남의 향토민속경관-『전남사진지』(1917년)를 중심으로-

Old photos of landscape are important heritage that can help in understanding and restoring local and folk history. Focusing on Jeonnamsajinji published in 1917, the phenomenon and transition of Jeonnam’s traditional folk landscape were organized based on process of publication, main contents and Hampeyong as an example. The photos in Jeonnamsajinji were categorized by type considering the cultural information held within them. There are 25 photos of nature and ecology, 45 photos of streets and facilities, 37 photos of cultural heritage, and 47 photos of native products and industries. Nature and ecology photos include mountains, rivers, fields, moorings and plains. Photos of streets and facilities are mostly landscapes of provincial and district government buildings, as well as of other government buildings, financial institutes, schools, hospitals, water supply and railroad facilities. Photos of cultural heritage includes Buddhist temples, Confucian schools, forests and folk heritages. Photos of native products and industries include those that industrialize native products, but also those related to new systems. Straw bags, straw ropes, straw mat schools, and haetae improvement and fishing gear production apprenticeship. The latter are also related to regional products. The 150 or so photographs contained in Jeonnamsajinji hold significant values as documentary heritage of modern period. Especially, the photos of Jangheung tug-of-war and salt ponds in Sinan Jaryeom (formerly, Muan) are the oldest photos in their respective areas known to us. Although phenomena such as Boseong Daewonsa Temple or Hwasun Jeokbyeok are altered or damages, they will still serve as important documents in understanding the traditional folk landscape. In addition, because each of the photos has a detailed description, they are valuable materials disclosing regional affairs and chronicles of the time. There are 4 photos of Hampyeong region, including Hampyeong-eup, Hampyeong-gun office, Yeongsucheon and Yeongsujeong and tools making apprenticeship. By comparing with maps (1872, 1899) and town chronicle of late Joseon dynasty, photos of 1917 Jeonnamsijinji, topographic map of 1918, street maps of Hampyeong in 1928, blue print of Hampyeong-gun office of 1931, recent aerial photos and those from 1948, site survey reports and orally transmitted materials, the original forms and transition of the traditional folk landscapes were explored. Collection and comparison of photos and materials from each gun will serve as valuable materials in understanding the original forms and transition of Jeonnam’s traditional folk landscape. 옛 경관이나 풍경 사진은 향토사나 민속생활사 현장을 이해하고 복원하는데 귀중한 기록 유산이다. 1917년 간행된 『전남사진지』를 중심으로 간행의 경위와 주요 내용, 함평을 사례로 하여 전남의 향토민속경관 현상과 변천에 대하여 정리해 보았다. 『전남사진지』 사진들이 담고 있는 문화정보를 고려하여 종류별로 구분했다. 자연생태 25장, 시가와 시설 45장, 문화유산 37장, 토산과 산업 47장이다. 자연생태는 산, 강, 들, 계류, 평야 등이다. 시가․시설은 도청과 군청 소재지의 전경이 많다. 그리고 관공서, 금융기관, 학교, 병원, 상수도 시설, 철도 시설 등 공공 시설이 주류를 이룬다. 문화유산은 사찰, 향교, 교량, 숲, 민속유산 등이다. 토산․산업은 지역의 토산 자료를 산업화하는 대상도 있지만, 새로 도입하는 제도와 연관된 것도 있다. 가마니, 새끼, 멍석 제조 견습소나 해태개량 전습, 어구 제조 전습 등이다. 후자의 경우도 해당 지역의 산물과 연관된다. 『전남사진지』에 실린 150여장의 사진은 근대기 기록유산으로서 중요한 자료가치를 지닌다. 특히 장흥 줄당기기 사진, 신안(당시 무안) 자렴 염전 사진 등은 지금까지 알려진 이 분야의 가장 오래된 사진에 들 것으로 보인다. 보성 대원사나 화순 적벽 같은 현상이 변하거나 훼손되어 버린 경우에도 원래의 향토민속경관을 이해하는데 중요한 자료가 될 것이다. 그리고 각 사진에 풀이된 설명도 자세하여 당시의 지역 사정이나 역사 연혁 등에 대해서도 알 수 있는 귀한 자료이다. 함평 지역 사진은 함평읍, 함평군청, 영수천과 영수정, 제연 전습 상황 등 4장이다. 조선후기 지도(1872년, 1899년)와 읍지, 1917년 『전남시진지』 사진, 1918년 지형도, 1928년 함평 시가도, 1931년 함평군청 도면, 1948년 항공사진과 최근의 항공사진, 현장답사 자료와 구전자료 등을 비교해 가면서 향토민속경관의 원형과 변천 사례를 살펴 보았다. 앞으로 각 군별 사진과 관련 자료들을 수집하여 비교한다면 전남의 향토민속경관의 원형과 변천을 이해하는데 귀한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

A Principled Explanation on the Quantifier Scope Phenomena

The purpose of this study is to present a principled explanatory alternative mechanism for the scope puzzling phenomena in the quantifier constructions. For this, Multiple Agree (Chomsky 2001; Hiraiwa 2000), Phase (Chomsky 1998, 1999), Phase higher evaluation (Chomsky 1999), Feature-inheritance from Phase (Chomsky 2005, 2013, 2014), INT (Chomsky 1999, 2001) and semantic Duality of the Interface (Boeckx 2008; Chomsky 2005; Grohmann 2003; Kim 2018) are adopted. In addition, [±D]-feature is posited on the basis of the interpretation of θ–domain. By using this system, the DOC construction, the counterexample to Hornstein’s (1995, 1999) A-movement for Case-checking account, the counterexample to Fox’s (1995, 2000) Scope Economy account, and the bi-clausal quantifier sentence are solved. Not only that, the c-command and Fox’s (2000) Revised Modularity Hypothesis are also explained in a natural manner. (Keimyung University)

Temperature Measurement Techniques for RAON Cryomodule

Conducting and semiconducting temperature sensors are calibrated and applied to cryomodules. The definition of temperature is introduced and the pressure in vacuum is shown as a function of temperature. The resistance of Drude model is shown as a function of carrier density and mean free path. Temperature sensors are calibrated with Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS). The temperature sensors are applied to measure temperature accurately in RAON cryomodules.
