Relapsing polychondritis is an uncommon multisystemic disease which is characterized by recurrent episodes of inflammation and progressive destruction of cartilaginous tissue. The cause of relapsing polychondritis is unclear and suspected to be autoimmune pathophysiology. It involves cartilage of nose, vertebra, trachea, peripheral joint as well as structures of eye, heart, blood vessels or inner ear. Auricular chondritis is present in almost all patients, and multiple arthritis, nasal chondritis, saddle nose, eye involvement, laryngotracheal involvement and skin manifestations are also present. We report a case of relapsing polychondritis presented a arthritis with review of literatures.

Reactive airway dysfunction syndrome (RADS) is a clinical entity characterized by sudden onset of obstructive airway disorder and nonspecific airway hyperresponsiveness after exposure to a toxic or irritant chemical with negative history of obstructive airway symptoms prior to exposure. After exposure to high concentrations of irritating substances, obstructive symptoms are usually persistent. Causative substances are nonspecific and various. The exact mechanism of this dysfunction remains to be elucidated. We report a case of RADS which presented with dyspnea elicited by smoking insecticide of cockroach containing dichlorvos as a main ingredient. (Korean J Asthma Allergy Clin Immunol 2006;26:246-248)

The study evaluated dynamic characteristics of three-story reinforced concrete building before and after retrofitted diagonal bracing. Evaluated frequency and damping ratio are reviewed and compared with previous study. Ambient vibration and human excitation test were applied. In result, natural frequency of long direction in measurement is increased to 98.5% but short direction decreased 5.3%. The reason of this results are judged by constructed diagonal bracing for improvement of horizontal resisting capacity. Stiffness variation of long and short direction is increased to 1.985, 0.947 and the measured value of long and short direction is higher than the analysis one of 4.2%, 5.8%.

Background: Carnitine and vitamin complex (Godex®) is widely used in patients with chronic liver disease who show elevated liver enzyme in South Korea. The purpose of this study is to identify the efficacy and safety of carnitine from entecavir combination therapy in ALT elevated Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) patients. Methods: 130 treatment-naive patients with CHB were enrolled from 13 sites. The patients were randomly selected to the entecavir and entecavir and carnitine complex. The primary endpoint of the study is ALT normalization level after 12 months, and the secondary endpoints are rate of less than HBV DNA 300 Copies/ml and adverse event rate. Results: Among the 130 patients, 119 patients completed the study treatment. The ALT normalization at 3 months was 58.9% for the monotherapy and 95.2% for the combination therapy (P<0.0001). ALT normalization rate at 12 months was 85.7% for the monotherapy and 100% for the combination group(P=0.0019). The rate of less than HBV DNA 300 copies/ ml at 12 months was 75.9 % for the monotherapy, 70.7% for the combination and it was not statistically significant. Quantification of HBsAg level was not different between the monotherapy( 10,443 IU/mL) and combination(8,621 IU/mL) at 12 months. Changes of ELISPOT value to evaluate the INF-γ secretion by HBsAg showed the increasing trend of combination therapy compare to mono-treatment(53.3 vs. 22.2, P=0.03). There were 9 SAEs during the study period but they were not related to the study medication. In addition, there were 57 AEs with 2 minor skin rashes and 2 dyspepsias, but they were controlled by not decreasing the carnitine dose. Conclusions: ALT normalization rate was higher in carnitine complex combination group than entecavir group in CHB. And combination group is faster than entecavir mono-treatment group on ALT normalization rate. HBV DNA normalization rate and serum HBV-DNA level were not changed by carnitine complex treatment.

본 논문은 강성 요구조건과 열지향오차 요구조건을 만족하는 지구관측위성의 블레이드형 광학탑재체 지지구조물 개발에 대한 연구이다. 먼저 형상 요구조건을 만족하는 광학탑재체 지지구조물을 설계하였으나, 강성 요구조건을 만족하지 못하여 광학탑재체 지지구조물의 외부와 내부에 보강재를 추가하여 이를 해결하였다. 그러나, 열지향오차 요구조건을 만족시키지 못하여, 플랫폼 지지 구조물을 플래폼 상/하단에 모두 장착한 대칭형 구조로 설계하였다. 이 경우 이전 모델에 비해서 열지향오차가 많이 줄어들기는 하였지만 역시 열지향오차 요구조건을 만족시키지는 못하였다. 이전 설계 결과를 바탕으로 측면형 플랫폼 지지 구조물을 설계하여 강성요구조건 및 열지향오차 요구조건을 만족하는 광학탑재체 지지구조물을 최종적으로 설계하였다. 본 설계를 통해서 다음의 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 강성측면에서는 플랫폼의 면재 두께 증가나 보강재 추가 그리고 블레이드의 개수를 늘려서 강성을 증가시킬 수 있었다. 열지향오차측면에서는 가능한 같은 재료를 가진 구성품들을 서로 결합시키고, 광학탑재체 지지구조물을 대칭형 구조물로 설계함으로써 열지향오차를 감소시킬 수 있었다. This paper is a study on the blade-type optical bench satisfying stiffness and thermal pointing error requirements for earth observation satellite. According to shape requirements, optical bench is designed. Because it does not satisfy the stiffness requirement, the stiffener is added on the outer/inner area of optical bench. But it does not meet the thermal pointing error requirement. So symmetrical structure is suggested with platform support structure attached on the upper/lower part of platform. Although it has better value than previous case, it still does not meet the thermal pointing error requirement. Based on the results of prior cases, optical bench finally designed, which satisfied both the stiffness and thermal pointing error requirements. Next conclusions follow from this design. It is efficient to increase thickness of platform facesheet, add stiffener and increase blade number to raise stiffness. It is effective to connect component consisting of same material and design optical bench having symmetrical structure to lower thermal pointing error.

<P>The present study reports the results of a genome-wide SNP linkage scan for schizophrenia in the Korean population. Fifty-six multiplex schizophrenia families were analyzed. Clinical evaluations on all subjects were consistently performed by raters in a single research team. Multipoint non-parametric linkage analysis was performed, and empirical simulations were generated to determine genome-wide significance. The authors found genome-widely significant evidence of linkage for schizophrenia to chromosomes 2p24.3 (NPL Z = 3.18) and 6q27 (NPL Z = 2.90). Six other chromosomal regions, that is, 3q24, 13q12.3, 18q22.3, 20p12.2, 4p14, and 1p36.12, yielded NPL Z scores of above 2.0 for either broad or narrow phenotype classes. Although linkage to these loci has not received prominent attention in studies on Caucasian families, multiple overlaps were observed between our loci (on 2p, 3q, and 13q) and linkage peaks generated from extended families in various isolated populations. Fine mappings and the detection of candidate genes within these regions are warranted. © 2008 Wiley-Liss, Inc.</P>
