Ordinarily stow net fisheries was used by floater beam and sinker beam for the purpose of spreading the mouth of net. But it was not only iuconvenient and dangerous but much defective. In this thesis, we have studied fundermental experiment of the improved stow net fishing gear using head rope, ground rope and otter sail instead of floater beam and sinker beam. From the result of this experiment, it has been succeeded for fishing work to achieve basically without any difficulty. The results obtained in this study were as follows. 1) The resistance of fishing gear was estimated R≒7V2 as possible as it is taken greatly. (R: Resistance V: the rate of current) 2) The interval of otter sail was spreaded smoothly. Being in normal condition, it was maintamed the width 37-38m. It was heared comparison with net mouth of ordinary gear, and the shearing force was enough. 3) The height of mouth was lower than we have anticipated to and seemed to have the supplement of buoyancy. But according to increasing the rate of current, the lowness of mouth height was little affected. 4) The height of otter sail was decreased at the rate of 30% by the rate of current, on the contrary, the height of wing was not decreased owing to sufficient buoyancy, 5) The adjustment of extention length of hanging wire(connected with fishing boat) and raising wire(with otter sail) was great important problem and it must be dealed with the most moderatly because of a corelation between the spreading of fishing gear and catching ability. 6) On the depth of 30m, it was taken 25 minuits to cast anchor and lines, 20 min cast net, 24 min haul net, 45 min haul lines and heave anchor, respectively. 7) The improved stow net with otter sail was cleared up the defects and difficult problems in ordinary gear using floater beam and sinker beam, and it have more advantages of fishing work than ordinary one. But there were involved in lots of problems in details to solve in the future.
Multicomponent Batch Distillation with Distillate Receiver

Based on the assumption of adiabatic equilibrium stages, a rigorous calculation procedure applicable to a multicomponent batch distillation with a distillate receiver under total reflux condition was developed. Provided that the operating conditions including the desired product purity of the most volatile component in the receiver are specified, the proposed model estimates the volume of the distillate receiver, changes in compositions in the receiver and still, concentration profiles of the column, and the batch time required to complete the separation. In order to test the validity of the proposed model, experimental data for the separation of acetone-methanol-2-propanol mixture using a 10 cm I.D. column having six theoretical stages were compared with simulation results for the two cases when the distillate receiver is initially empty and initially full.
Effect of Cultivars and Cooking Methods on the Trypsin Inhibitor Activities of Potatoes

The trypsin inhibitor activities (TIA) of various potato cultivars were evaluated by measuring the inhibition of trypsin inhibitor activity using N-benzoyl-DL-arginine-p-nitroanilide (BAPNA) as substrate. The TIA values of 5 potato cultivars (1.99 to 2.88 mg/g) were significantly different among cultivars (p<0.05). When the TIA values of commercially processed potatoes were determined, no TIA was detected. During cooking, the IT<sub>50</sub> (time required to reach 50% inhibition of TIA) values were decreased as heating temperature and time increased. The IT<sub>50</sub> of moist heating was estimated to be 0.34 min at 100℃, whereas for deep-fat frying the IT50 was 0.13 min at 180oC and 5.28 min for oven baking at 100℃. The IT50 value of microwave cooking was 0.194 min at medium heat, and which was similar to that of pressure cooking at 120℃ (0.185 min). Moreover, there was a negative relationship between temperature (≥80℃) and IT<sub>50</sub>values (R2=0.99, p<0.01). The TIA of potato was completely inactivated by moist heating at 100℃within 5 min, whereas the pressure cooking at 120℃ and deep-fat frying at 180℃ within 60 and 30 sec, respectively. Based on our results, deep-fat frying is the most effective cooking method to reduce TIA in potatoes.

Background : In the previous stuides, we identified that the interferon-r activated sequence (GAS) in the 5-flanking region of rat ICAM-1 gene is major element for interferon-r-inducible expression of the gene in rat thyroid cells, FRTL-5. We here, investigated the role of transcriptional coactivators, CBP(CREB binding protein) and CⅡTA (class Ⅱ transactivator) in the modulation of the activity of GAS which could interacts with signal transducers and activators of transcription-1 and 3 (STAT1 and STAT3). Methods : The expression of CBP RNA and protein were quantitated in FRTL-5 after stimulation with interferon-r (IFN-r), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), forskolin and methimazole. Direct association of CBP with STAT were analyzed by immunoprecipitation. The transcriptional roles of CBP and CⅡTA in the regulation of GAS were assessed by the cotransfection with their expression vectors with reporters; 5-deletion constructs of rat ICAM-1 promoter or 8xGAS-luc constructs, into FRTL-5 thyroid cells. Results : The level of CBP RNA and protein were not changed by the treatment with TSH, IFN-r, forskolin and methimazole in FRTL-5, FRT and BRL liver cells. The CBP could be directly associated with STAT1. Furthermore, the overexpression of CBP significantly increases the both promoter activities; rat ICAM-1 gene promoter which has GAS element and 8xGAS-luc cassette constructs. However, the cotransfection of CⅡTA decreased the constitutive and CBP-mediated transactivation of rat ICAM-1 promoter and 8xGAS-luc cassette constructs. Conclusion : We identified that the two tanscriptional coactivators; CBP and CⅡTA has differential roles in the regulation of transcriptional activity of GAS drived promoter. CBP increases the GAS activity through the direct binding with STAT1, but CⅡTA inhibited the CBP-mediated transactivation of GAS activity.

N/A For diet test in the diabetics, six Korean main dishes were chosen. They were composed of rice, wheat flour, five grains, bean, barley and Job's tears. Response in the blood glucose was evaluated at O min, 30 min, 60 min, 120 min, 180 min. after eating each foods mentioned above as a breakfast for 6 days. The results were as follows. 1) All diets showed maximal blood sugar level at 60 min. postprandial. 2) According to Glycemic Index, rice was 78.3%, wheat flour 71.6%, five grains 69.8%, bean 69% (corrected value), barley 65.7%, Job's tears 64.9% (corrected value). Therefore this study showed that high blood glucose response were seen in rice & wheat flour. Intermediate response in five grains & Bean, and Low response in barley & Job's tears. So, all in all, this study recommands that the barley and Job's tear should be included in the main diet in the diabetics.
