        The clothing for the elderly appers to be more crucial because the elderly become more and more important groups among customers as the number of the elderly is ever growing and their interest in the clothing is also growing, so that leads the fashion industries to concentrate the marketing for the elderly. The industries try to investigate the present fashion tates of middle aged-women and the expecting changes of their fashion tastes when they get older. In this study, the relationship between the aging and their psychological depression and the pattern of purchasing clothing was studied for middle aged -women. The random questionnaires were performed with 553 middle aged-women who lived in Seoul. Used major statistical methods were t-test, X^(2)-test, oneway-ANOVA, Scheffe's test, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, Cronbach's α and path analysis. It was found that (i) the aging factor of middle aged-women psychologically affects on choosing clothing; the recognition by others, the psychological protection, the expression of beauty and social activity are important factors for the middle aged-women to select clothing(among the above four factors, the recognition by others and the psychological protection are more important), and (ii) the needs of purchasing elderly-clothing was somewhat strong. The information sources of reference, such as friends of fashion expertise, are very important to make the women's mind in selecting clothing. The middle aged-women generally purchase clothing on the beauty at department stores. The very important determinant of satisfaction after purchasing clothing is social psychology. First of all, dissatisfaction factors were understanded through the realities of the ready-to-wear, these factor were taken into consideration in the making clothing construction, and in future, the ready-to-wear of middle and old aged-women will be more improved.

      • 일부 한국인의 혈청 ceruloplasmin 정상 참고치 설정 및 질환별 비교 : Comparison of Its Level among Various Diseases

        Ceruloplasmin has been investigated as one of the useful biologic index for early diagnosis of atherolsclerosis. However, there was no normal reference value taking into account the confounders in Korea. This study was performed to estimate the normal reference values and present the confounders of ceruloplasmin. Also we compared of serum ceruloplasmin levels among normal reference group and three abnormal groups: 475 healthy subjects, 53 liver dysfunctions, 72 positive test of chronic inflammatory diseases, and 89 hypercholesterolemias. Mean serum ceruloplasmin level of healthy subjects were 41.6±7.6㎎/㎗ in males and 42.1±7.2㎎/㎗ in females, respectively. It was tend to increase of ceruloplasmin by age in both sexes. However, the statistical difference was not found by age group between both sexes. Statistically significant correlations were found between serum ceruloplasmin and age, body mass index(BMI), white blood cell(WBC) and triglyceride(TG) in males and age, BMI, WBC and total cholestrol(TG) in females. After adjustment for age, BMI,WBC and TG in males and age, BMI, WBC and TG in females, significant elevations of serum ceruloplasmin were found in liver dysfunction(p=0.0077) and positive test of chonic inflammatory disease(p=0.0217) in males and in oisitive test of chronic inflammatory disease(p=0.0023) and hypercholestolemia(p=0.0124) in females relative to healthy reference subjects. There is no statistical difference among liver dysfunction, postive test of chronic inflammatory disease, and hypercholesterolemia.

        구 소련(독립국가연합) 거주 한인들의 김치 이용 실태에 관한 조사 (II) : 김치 담금과 저장에 관한 사항 The General Characteristics on Preparation and Preservation of Kimchi

        This research follows the previous research on Kimchi Culture for the Koreans in Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS) and the purpose of this research was to investigate the habits with Kimchi of the Koreans in CIS. The research was carried out with items of the preparation and the preservation of Kimchi. The results were summarized as follows : 1. About 95% of above 30 years old of the respondents prepared Kimchi for their family. But 51.9% of under 30 years old and the forth generation of the respondents got Kimchi without self preparation. 2. All the respondents answered that they learned the method to prepare Kimchi from their mother. And 62.8% of the respondents argued that the procedure of Kimchi preparation of the present in different from that of the past. 3. 40.2% of the respondents used to take Kimchi after 2~3 days from the preparation and 29.1% used to take after 1~2 days. 52.8% of the respondents would like to eat the well-matured Kimchi and 45.2% to eat Kimchi which was immediately prepared. 4. The most popular container for keeping was the enamel pot and the most popular places for keeping was the refrigerator. The popular keeping containers were a wooden box(61.2%), a earthen vessel(20,1%), a plastic vessel(14.7%) and the popular keeping places were a underfloor(37.9%), veranda (25.0%), underearth(22.9%) in order.

        구소련(독립국가연합) 거주 한인들의 김치 이용 실태에 관한 조사 (Ⅲ) : 김치 재료 Materials of Kimchi

        To investigate the materials in the preparation of Kimchi for Koreans in the Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS), a survey was completed by 199 Koreans living in Moscow, Sahalin, Uzbekistan, and Kazahstan. In the way to purvey the materials of Kimchi, the frequency to get all the materials of Kimchi in the markets is 74.7% on the whole and by regional groups the frequency is relatively high in Moscow and Kazahstan. For the main ingredients most respondents use Chinese cabbage, cabbage, or turnips. In general Chinese cabbage is used most. But the respondents who live in Moscow and Kazahstan. Who are younger, or belong to higher emigrant generation, prefer cabbage Kimchi. For the additional vegetables many respondents use carrots. For the seasonings, garlic, red pepper powder, and salt are added to Kimchi, but the use of ginger, whole seasame seed, and waxy rice paste is relatively low. The coriander, which is not added to Kimchi in Korea, is used in Kimchi by above 80% of the respondents living in the three regions except Sahalin. It is considered to be due to the effect of the western dining cultural area. For the animal materials, 74.4% of the respondents add lightly salted fish to Kimchi and all the respondents in Sahalin add salt-fermented sea food, the kind of which is mainly salt-fermented croaker. The reasons given for not adding salt-fermented sea food to Kimchi in the three regions except Sahalin, 59.9% of the respondents said it was because of the difficulty to purvey, 21.1% because of the fishy taste, and 16.8% because of not considering the addition of self-fermented sea food in Kimchi. The higher the emigrant generation of respondents, the less seasonings of strong flavor like garlic, red pepper powder, and salt-fermented sea food are used, and the more coriander is used. In the salting of Kimchi preparation, 97.8% of the respondents salt the main vegetables by soaking in brine and its concentration is controlled by experience.

        Culdocentesis is a procedure that checks for abnormal Quid in the space just behind the vagina (cul-de-sac). First, a pelvic examination is done. Then, after exposing the postehor vaginal fonix with a bivalve vaginal speculum the posterior lip of the cervix is grasped with a tenaculum. The cul-de-sac is then entered through the postehor vaginal wall with an 18-20 gauge needle with a syringe inserted. As the cul-de-sac is entered, suction is applied, and the intraperitoneal contents are aspirated. In the recent past, culdocentesis was commonly used in the evaluation of a vahety of common intraperitoneal conditions, principally, the hemorrhage associated with ectopic gestations and ruptured ovarian cysts the presence and/or drainage of purulent associated with pelvic inGammatory disease, and as a screening procedure to facilitate early diagnosis of ovarian neoplasms. Usually 16-18 gauge needle with a syhnge attached was used for culdocentesis. But we have experienced a case of therapeutic culdocentesis with 16 gauge angioneedle in patient of hemoperitoneum. So, report it with a bhef review of literature.

        Over the past decade, there has been growing scientific evidence that dietary milk plays a role in beneficial effects for human health. Milk provides a number of good ingredients, in particular with growth factors and different types of proteins such as α -lactalbumin and β-casein. As well as essential amino acids of leucine and isoleucine are make to a positive way of human physical conditions. Therefore, those ingredients are directly involved in the human body, fluid composition and involved in metabolism of protein or carbohydrate. In addition, the development of physical strength and bone health associated with milk consumption. Thus, milk is one of good food for prevention of osteoporosis. Nowadays, several dietary guidelines suggest that people should intake two or three cups of dairy products including milk a day. However, some people cannot drink milk because they appear many adverse effects with regard to intake of milk like allergic reactions, lactose intolerance and weight gain problem. Consequently, it is worthy to discuss about these matters. Person pose the health problems regarding milk consumption should select dairy products carefully. Milk substitutes such as partially-hydrolyzed formula, yogurt, cheese and non- and low-fat dairy products are suggested. They prevent the allergy and lactose intolerance due to lactase in fermented milk digesting the lactose into glucose and galactose. Taking all of these into account, milk consumption is very important to maintain the human health. Although there are several adverse effects with regard to milk consumption, it would not be shown any health problem only if it follows the milk dietary guidelines. Therefore, a milk drinking should be actively encouraged for the public health.

        Effects of Micro-Electrical Stimulation on Regulation of Behavior of Electro-Active Stem Cells

        Purpose: Stem cells provide new opportunities in the regenerative medicine for human or animal tissue regeneration. In this study, we report an efficient method for the modulating behaviors of electro-active stem cells by micro-electric current stimulation (mES) without using chemical agents, such as serum or induction chemicals. Methods: Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) were cultured on the tissue dish in the mES system. To find a suitable mES condition to promote the DPSC functions, the response surface analysis was used. Results: We found that a working micro-current of 38㎂ showed higher DPSC proliferation compared with other working conditions. The mES altered the expressions of intracellular and extracellular proteins compared to those in unstimulated cells. The mES with 38㎂ significantly increased osteogenesis of DPSCs compared with ones without mES. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that mES may induce DPSC proliferation and differentiation, resulting in applying to DPSCs-based human or animal tissue regeneration.
