Non-salt roasting mechanism of V–Cr slag toward efficient selective extraction of vanadium

        Zhichao Yao,Qing Zhang,Ling Wang,Wenjuan Zhang,Baozhong Ma,Chengyan Wang 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.126 No.-

Developing a clean method for the sustainable utilization of reducing slag containing vanadium and chromium(V–Cr slag) is necessary, with the non-salt roasting method exhibiting considerable potential. Inthis study, we conducted a detailed analysis of the mechanisms driving non-salt roasting of the V–Cr slagby investigating phase transformations, valence transition, and redistribution of vanadium and associatedtransition elements. Based on our findings, we performed efficient selective extraction experimentsand revealed that spinel (Fe,Mn)(V,Cr)2O4, the carrier of vanadium, is converted to acid-soluble products, including VO2, Mg2V2O7, and Mn2V2O7, and acid-insoluble products, such as (Fe,Cr)2O3, TiO2, MnO2, andFe2TiO5 at a roasting temperature of 700 C; At roasting temperatures > 850 C, MnO2 is converted to halfMn2V2O7 and half (Fe,Cr,Mn)2O3. Vanadium is separated from Fe, Cr, Ti, Si, and half Mn via selective leaching. Under optimized conditions, the leaching efficiency of V reached 94.55%, and those of Fe, Cr, Ti, Si,and Mn were 0.71%, 0.50%, 0.44%, 0.23%, and 50%, respectively. This study provides a technical and theoreticalbasis for cleaner and safer utilization of V–Cr slag.

Enhanced morphology and hydrophilicity of PVDF flat membrane with modified CaCO3@SMA additive via thermally induced phase separation method

        Zhichao Zhang,Wei Wang,Xin Xu,Xi Liu,Yuanling Li,Peng Zhang 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.107 No.-

Modified CaCO3@SMA nanoparticles obtained by coordination reaction between poly(styrene-co-maleicanhydride) (SMA) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) nanoparticles were adopted as additive to preparepolyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) flat membrane via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) methodwith dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) as mixed diluent. The CaCO3 nanoparticlesmodified by SMA effectively reduced the adverse agglomeration of nanoparticles and made the additivedisperse evenly in PVDF matrix. The presence of modified CaCO3@SMA changed the membrane morphologyfrom dispersed spherulites with large pores to fuzzy dendrite structures with uniform pore sizes. Themembrane pore sizes, pore size distribution and tensile strength were significantly improved comparedto both virgin membranes and those containing unmodified CaCO3 nanoparticles. After the CaCO3 waspickled, the porosity and the connectivity between membrane pores were greatly enhanced, resultingin a significant increase in pure water flux. At the same time, the amphiphilic SMA fixed in and on themembrane surface improved the hydrophilic and anti-fouling properties demonstrated in a three-cycletest. The present study provided a potential TIPS method for the fabrication of PVDF membrane combinedwith a simple strategy of modified inorganic particle additive.

Numerical analysis of the venturi flowmeter in the liquid lead-bismuth eutectic circuit after long-term operation

        Zhang Zhichao,Macian-Juan Rafael,Wang Xiang 한국원자력학회 2024 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.56 No.3

The liquid Lead-bismuth eutectic is used as the coolant for Gen-IV reactor concepts. However, due to its strong corrosive and high operating temperature, it is difficult to accurately measure the flow rate in long-term operating conditions. Venturi flowmeter is a simple structured flowmeter, which plays a very important role in the flow measurement of high-temperature liquid metals, especially since the existing flowmeters are difficult to be competent. It has the advantages of easy maintenance and stable operation. Therefore, it is necessary to study the operating conditions of the venturi flowmeter under high-temperature conditions. This work performs a series of simulations of the fluid-solid interaction between the flow liquid metal and venturi flowmeter with COMSOL software, including the dimensional sensitivity analysis of the venturi flowmeter to explore the most suitable structure and parameters for liquid heavy metal, the sensitivity analysis of the geometric parameters of the venturi tube on the varying conditions. It shows that when the contraction angle of the venturi flowmeter is 33◦, the diffusion angle is 13◦, the diameter of the throat is 8 mm, and the temperature of the lead-bismuth eutectic is 733.15 K, it is most suitable for the measurement in the lead-bismuth circuit.

Phase II trial of VEGFR2 inhibitor apatinib for metastatic sarcoma: focus on efficacy and safety

        Zhichao Liao,Feng Li,Chao Zhang,Lei Zhu,Yehui Shi,Gang Zhao,Xu Bai,Shafat Hassan,Xinyue Liu,Ting Li,Peipei Xing,Jun Zhao,Jin Zhang,Ruwei Xing,Sheng Teng,Yun Yang,Kexin Chen,Jilong Yang 생화학분자생물학회 2019 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.51 No.-

Apatinib (YN968D1) is a novel tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR- 2). We conducted a single-arm, nonrandomized phase II study (NCT03121846) to assess the efficacy and safety of apatinib in patients with stage IV sarcoma. We recruited 64 patients with stage IV sarcoma who had failed chemotherapy. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), and the secondary endpoints were progression-free survival rate (PFR), objective response rate (ORR), and disease control rate (DCR) at week 12. Treatment-related adverse effects (AEs) were evaluated. Fifty-nine patients were assessed for efficacy and 64 patients for AEs. The median PFS was 7.93 months. At 12 weeks, the PFR was 74%, the ORR was 16.95% (10/59), and the DCR was 86.44% (51/59). The final ORR was 15.25% (9/59) and the DCR was 57.63% (34/59). Notably, 22 patients (34.38%) who developed hypertension, hand-foot-skin reaction, or proteinuria had significantly longer OS than those without these AEs (18.20 vs. 10.73 months; P = 0.002). We conclude that apatinib is effective and well tolerated in patients with advanced sarcoma. The development of hypertension, hand-foot-skin reaction, or proteinuria may indicate a favorable prognosis, representing a novel finding in sarcoma patients.

Comparison and analysis on sheep meat quality and flavor under pasture-based fattening contrast to intensive pasture-based feeding system

        Zhang Zhichao,Wang Xiaoqi,Jin Yan,Zhao Kai,Duan Ziyuan 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.7

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of 4-month intensive feeding on the meat quality, fatty acid profile, flavor, and growth performance of grazing Hulunbuir sheep (HBS). Methods: The HBS were selected 4-months after birth in a pasture rearing system as the experimental animals (n = 44, female, average body weight 23.8±2.2 kg) then divided equally into pasture-based grazing fattening (PAS) and concentrate-included intensive fattening (CON) groups for another 4-month finishing. When finished fattening, all animals were slaughtered to collect musculus longissimus dorsi subcutaneous adipose tissue and to investigate the influences on meat quality, fatty acid profile, flavor and growth performance. Results: The results showed lambs in CON group got significantly higher live weight, hot carcass weight, and dressing percentage. The CON group had significantly higher value of redness (a*), lightness (L*) and water holding capacity (p<0.05), significantly lower value of Warner-Bratzler shear force than the PAS group (p<0.05). The subcutaneous fat from CON group lambs demonstrated a significantly higher content of C18:1 and C18:2 (p<0.05), but lower C14:0 and C16:0, indicating an increased degree of unsaturated fatty acid. The content of 4-methyloctanoic acid, 4-ethyloctanoic acid and 4-methylnonanoic acid had increased 2 to 4 times, representing a more intense odor in the CON group. However, the values were still lower than most sheep breeds reported, indicating the indoor feeding system could not fundamentally deteriorate the excellent meat characteristic of HBS. Conclusion: It was evident that lambs in CON group exhibited a better meat production performance, improved in meat color, texture and healthier fatty acid profile through pastureweaned concentrate included intensive fattening system, which offers a good alternative regimen for lamb finishing and has a wide prospection in the HBS meat industry. Plasmonic sensors based on graphene and graphene hybrid materials

        Zhang Zhichao,Lee Yeageun,Haque Md Farhadul,Leem Juyoung,Hsieh Ezekiel Y.,Nam SungWoo 나노기술연구협의회 2022 Nano Convergence Vol.9 No.28

The past decade has witnessed a rapid growth of graphene plasmonics and their applications in different fields. Compared with conventional plasmonic materials, graphene enables highly confined plasmons with much longer lifetimes. Moreover, graphene plasmons work in an extended wavelength range, i.e., mid-infrared and terahertz regime, overlapping with the fingerprints of most organic and biomolecules, and have broadened their applications towards plasmonic biological and chemical sensors. In this review, we discuss intrinsic plasmonic properties of graphene and strategies both for tuning graphene plasmons as well as achieving higher performance by integrating graphene with plasmonic nanostructures. Next, we survey applications of graphene and graphene-hybrid materials in biosensors, chemical sensors, optical sensors, and sensors in other fields. Lastly, we conclude this review by providing a brief outlook and challenges of the field. Through this review, we aim to provide an overall picture of graphene plasmonic sensing and to suggest future trends of development of graphene plasmonics.

Study on Preparation of Core-Spun Yarn Surgical Sutures by Compositing Drug-Loaded Nanofiber Membrane with PLA and Its Controllable Drug Release Performance

        Zhichao Yang,Shuqiang Liu,Jingjing Li,Gaihong Wu,Man Zhang,Fu Li,Lu Jia,Yujing Zhang,Huimin Li,Xia Liu,Jingjing Zhao,Huiqin Zhang,Shiyu Li 한국섬유공학회 2023 Fibers and polymers Vol.24 No.12

Polylactic acid (PLA) surgical suture is considered to be one of the most ideal materials for tissue closure due to its rich raw materials and excellent biological properties. However, surgical sutures face great challenges due to problems such as wound infection and tissue reaction in practical applications. In order to improve the clinical applicability of surgical sutures, we constructed a new drug-loading system for core-spun surgical sutures. The shell was composed of nanofibrous membranes composed of polyglycolic acid (PGA) and polycaprolactone (PCL) and ciprofloxacin (CIP) antibacterial drugs, and the core layer adopts PLA filament. By adjusting the composition ratio of PGA and PCL in the shell, a new mode of regulating the release rate and release cycle of the suture was constructed. According to different wound healing time, different drug release cycles of surgical suture were selected. In the study, the structure of the core-spun yarn can be clearly observed by scanning electron microscope, the higher the shell PGA content and drug loading, the faster the drug release rate. When the carrier ratio PGA/PCL was 80/20 and the drug loading was 3%, the drug release rate was the fastest and the drug release was high; finally, antibacterial experiments showed that the suture had excellent antibacterial effect and could effectively kill Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The successful preparation of core-spun yarn surgical suture provides a new idea for the study of new antibacterial surgical suture.

Dynamic Analyses and Simplified Methods for Evaluating Complicated Suspend-dome Structures Subjected to Sudden Cable Failure

        Chao Zhang,Zhichao Lai,Xiaoqiang Yang,Qiang Li,Zilong Zhang,Xindi Fu 한국강구조학회 2023 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.23 No.1

Accidental cable failure may occur for complicated suspend-dome structures, resulting in the dynamic impact effect on structures. This study presents simplified analysis methods for evaluating suspend-dome structures when sudden cable failure occurs. An implicit analysis method of improved alternative load path (IAM-IAP) was employed to simply simulate the cable failure process of the beam-string structure. The IAM-IAP was also validated by comparing the calculated results with the existing test results for the truss string structure. The parameters of the cable failure process (i.e., failure time, failure path, and damping ratio) were analyzed, and suitable values were recommended. Based on the IAM-IAP, a finite element model of multi-loop cable-string suspend-dome structure (MCSS) was established and benchmarked by verifying the static responses during construction. Dynamic responses (i.e., time histories, displacements, axial forces, and dynamic amplification factors) of MCSS were systematically investigated. The dynamic amplification factor may be larger than 2, exceeding the suggested value of existing specifications. A static equivalent method with reasonable prediction accuracy was also proposed to simply assess the dynamic responses of suspend-dome structures subjected to sudden cable failure.
