      • CAN COMPANIONS INFLUENCE CUSTOMER'S PERCEPTIONS OF SERVICE QUALITY?

        The role of other customers play in determining a service customer's experience has emerged as important and received growing attention recently. Yet, the role of companions has not. In this study, using the healthcare setting as our research context, we explore how companions affect the patient throughout the service encounter process. Specifically, we propose that the quality of the role companions play affects the quality of the role patients play, which eventually affects the perceived quality of the service patients receive from the healthcare provider. In other words, we propose companions as a source of improving customer perceptions of service quality. Further, in an effort to define the desirable type of companions, we propose that the quality of relationship between the customer and the companion will influence the customer perception of the companion role quality. We also propose that the patient's stress level will moderate the effect of companion's role on the patient's role. In order to measure the quality of the role a companion and a patient play respectively, we first developed a scale for each by comprehensively compiling existing scales for each. We adopted the existing SERVQUAL items to measure perceived service quality. We adapted existing scales for measuring the quality of relationship between the patient and the companion and for measuring the patient's stress level. We plan to conduct a self-administered survey among the patients at a major university hospital in Seoul, Korea. We will analyze the collected data through a factor analysis, an analysis of variance, and a structural equation modeling approach. Findings of the current study will contribute academically by extending the research stream in viewing other human factors in the service setting as influential factor in determining the customer perception of service quality. Managerially, our study will contribute by demonstrating the importance of ensuring that companions play their role well throughout the service encounter process and also by presenting a comprehensive scale to measure the companion's role.

        High-fat-diet impaired mitochondrial function of cumulus cells but improved the efficiency of parthenogenetic embryonic quality in mice

        Global human health has been compromised by high-fat diets. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between a high-fat diet and parthenogenetic embryo quality. Mice fed a high-fat or a normal diet was used as treated or control groups, respectively. Estradiol (E2), total cholesterol (TC) and total triglyceride (TG) were detected by Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA). Cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were collected from the mice in the treated and control groups. The ultrastructure of COCs, the expression level of genes involved in mitochondrial and nuclear functions in cumulus cells and oocytes quality were evaluated with transmission electron microscopy, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and artificial parthenogenesis, respectively. The results showed that the efficiency of parthenogenetic embryonic development in vitro was significantly higher in the treated group than in the control group (p < .05). The expression level of genes involved in mitochondrial function was lower in cumulus cells from the treated group than that from the control group (p < .05). The estradiol and cholesterol level in the serum and the expression level of P450 arom were higher in the treated group than the control group (p < .05). The reactive oxygen species (ROS) level was higher in culumus cells from the treated group than the control group, while the mitochondrial membrane potential was lower in cumulus cells from the treated group (p < .05). Accumulation of lipid droplets was only in cumulus but in oocyte, the results demonstrated that mitochondrial functions were impaired by a high-fat diet, but parthenogenetic embryonic development in vitro was improved, in controllable range of damage for the body.

      • Highly catalysis Zinc MOF-loaded nanogold coupled with aptamer to assay trace carbendazim by SERS

        Zinc metal organic framework (MOF<sub>Zn</sub>)-loaded goad nanoparticles (AuNPs) sol (Au@MOF<sub>Zn</sub>), which was characterized by TEM, Mapping, FTIR, XRD, and molecular spectrum, was prepared conveniently by solvothermal method. The results indicated that Au@MOF<sub>Zn</sub> had a very strong catalytic effect with the nanoreaction of AuNPs formation between sodium oxalate (SO) and HAuCl4. AuNPs in the new indicator reaction had a strong resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) signal at 370 nm. The indicator AuNPs generated by this reaction, which had the most intense surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) peak at 1621 cm -1. The new SERS/RRS indicator reaction in combination with specific aptamer (Apt) to fabricate a sensitive and selective Au@MOF<sub>Zn</sub> catalytic amplification-aptamer SERS/RRS assay platform for carbendazim (CBZ), with SERS/RRS linear range of 0.025-0.5 ng/mL. The detection limit was 0.02 ng/mL. Similarly, this assay platform has been also utilized to detect oxytetracycline (OTC) and profenofos (PF).

        The Effect of a Companion’s Role-Play Quality on the Patient’s Perceived Healthcare Service Quality

        The importance of a companion as a value cocreator has been conceptually proposed but is yet to be empirically examined. Studies on companions and their roles have focused mostly on particular aspects and are primarily descriptive in nature. A comprehensive account of the companionship role is yet to be accomplished. With healthcare services as the study context, this study first identifies the companionship role and carries out an empirical examination. Using field survey data from 201 respondents, a three-factor scale for companionship roles with two items for informational role, four items for emotional role, and four items for communicative role is first validated. And then, a structural equation modeling analysis tests proposed hypotheses. Results show that a patient’s perceived quality of his/her companion’s role-play during the service delivery process positively affects the customer’s perceived quality of the healthcare service rendered by the healthcare firm. The moderation effect of customer-companion relationship quality is also demonstrated.

        폐암 조기 진단을 위한 단백질 바이오마커 측정용 전압-전류법 기반의 나노바이오 분석법 개발

        본 논문에서는 이동성이 좋고 경제적이며, 간편하게 일회용 진단칩으로 제작 가능한 스크린 프린팅 한 탄소칩 전극 [screen printed carbon electrode (SPCE)] 기반의 전압전류법 나노물질 융합형 바이오센서를 제작하여 폐암 조기진단에 활용 가능한 단백질 표지 인자 중에 하나인 heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (hnRNP A1) 단백질의 농도를 정량 분석하고자 하였다. 먼저 SPCE 표면에 금 나노입자를 전기적으로 증착한 후 크로스링커를 이용하여 hnRNP A1에 특이적으로 결합할 수 있는 바이오리셉터인 DNA 압타머를 고정하였다. Ethanolamine을 블로킹 시약으로 사용하여 압타머와 함께 센서 표면에 고정하여 그 표면을 처리함으로써 비특이적인 생물질의 흡착에 의한 방해 신호를 최소화하고자 하였다. DNA칩과 hnRNP A1 용액을 접촉하여 DNA와 hnRNP A1을 결합시킨 후 alkaline phosphatase (ALP) 효소로 접합한 hnRNP A1 항체(anti-hnRNP A1)을 센서칩 표면으로 주입하여 샌드위치 복합체를 형성하고, 이를 기질인 4-aminophenyl phosphate (APP)와 효소-기질 특이적 산화 반응에 의한 전류 변화를 순환 전압전류법과 시차 펄스 전압전류법으로 측정하여 단백질의 농도를 정량적으로 분석하였다. 상기 산화 반응에 의한 피크 전류 변화는 순환 전압전류법과 시차 펄스 전압전류법을 사용할 때 -0.05와 -0.17 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) 전위 값에서 각각 일어났다. 개발한 나노바이오센서를 실제 정상인 혈청 시료 분석에 적용 가능함을 보여줌으로써 혈청 한 방울로 폐암의 조기진단 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. In this article, a portable and cost-effective voltammetric biosensor with nanoparticles was developed for the measurements of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 protein (hnRNP A1) biomarker which can potentially be used for lung cancer diagnosis. Gold nanoparticles were first electrodeposited onto screen printed carbon electrode (SPCE) followed by immobilizing a single stranded DNA aptamer specific to hnRNP A1 onto the electrode surface. Ethanolamine was also used when immobilizing DNA aptamer on the surface to prevent signals from non-specific adsorption events. Sequential injection of hnRNP A1 biomarker and anti-hnRNP A1 conjugated with alkaline phosphatase (ALP) onto the aptamer chip surface allows to form the sandwich complex of DNA aptamer/hnRNP A1/ALP-anti-hnRNP A1 on the electrode surface which further reacted with 4-aminophenyl phosphate (APP). The electrocatalytic reaction of the enzyme, ALP, and the substrate, APP, resulting in the oxidative current response changes at -0.05 and -0.17 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) against the hnRNP A1 concentration was measured using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry, respectively. The Au nanoparticles-integrated voltammetric biosensor was applied to analyze human normal serum solutions possibly suggesting potential applicability for lung cancer diagnosis.

        대장암 진단용 단백질 바이오마커 측정을 위한 바이오센서 개발의 최신 연구 동향

        Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent diseases in modern society, constituting a serious threat to global health. Currently, routine clinical screening and early removal of precancerous polyps are the most successful methods for reducing CRC incidence and mortality. However, the high cost and invasive detection of sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy limited the CRC-screening participation and prevention. The emergence of biosensors provides an inexpensive, sensitive, less invasive tool for detecting CRC disease biomarkers. This review highlights some of recent efforts made on developing biosensors with electrochemical and optical techniques targeting CRC specific protein biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis, potential applications, and future perspectives.

        Contact modeling and stiffness of a rough surface under mixed lubrication condition

        A method of using a quadratic function of rotary asperities to be equivalent to asperity is established based on a measurement experiment on rough surface topography. A micro-contact model of a rough surface that includes elastic, elastic-plastic, and pure plastic deformation states is re-derived using the theory of contact mechanics and the method of probability statistics. A rough surface contact stiffness model under mixed lubrication is proposed in accordance with the rough surface contact stiffness, which consists of solid surface and lubrication medium contact stiffness. The influence of the lubrication medium, solid material, and asperity size parameters on contact stiffness is analyzed. Results show that elastic modulus, acoustic impedance, and the size parameters of the asperities of the solid part are the main factors that affect the contact stiffness of the solid part. The acoustic impedance of the lubricating medium mainly affects the contact stiffness of the lubrication part. The contact stiffness of the rough surface under mixed lubrication is a superposition of the solid and lubrication parts, and it is greater than that without the lubrication medium. The model established in this study fully considers the deformation state in practical engineering, which includes asperities and the lubrication state of rough surfaces. It provides a reference for the performance prediction of mechanical surfaces.
