        In Vitro Antiviral Activity of Ribavirin Against Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus Myung Jin LEE1, Kye-Hyung KIM1, Jongyoun YI2, SuJin CHOI1, Chung-Jong KIM1, Nak- Hyun KIM1, Kyoung-Ho SONG1, Pyoeng Gyun CHOI1, Ji-Hwan BANG1, Wan Beom PARK1, Eu Suk KIM1, Sang-Won PARK1, Hong Bin KIM1, Nam Joong KIM1, Myoung- Don OH1 Seoul National University College of Medicine, Korea1, Pusan National University School of Medicine, Korea2 Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by a novel Bunyavirus, severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV). No effective antiviral therapy is proven yet, but clinical use of ribavirin (RBV) has been tried. We investigated the antiviral effect of RBV against SFTSV in vitro. Methods: To test for cytotoxicity of RBV, Vero cells were treated with different concentrations of RBV (3.90 to 500 μg/mL, two-fold dilution) and analyzed by cell viability MTS assay 48h post-infection. To determine antiviral activity of RBV against SFTSV, Vero cells were infected with SFTSV strain Gangwon/Korea/2012 at 100 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infective dose) per well in a 96-well plate, and RBV was added at the concentrations showing no or minimal cytotoxicity. Viral RNAs were extracted from the culture supernatants and quantifi ed using one-step real-time reverse transcription- PCR to amplify the partial large segment of SFTSV. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA with Tukey`s post hoc test. Results: Cytotoxicity due to RBV was not observed at RBV concentration =31.3 μg/ mL. Viral RNAs at 24h post-RBV treatment were reduced with increasing RBV concentrations (1-32 μg/mL), compared with those of mock-treated cells (P <0.01, Figure). Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of RBV was 3.69 μg/mL at 24h post-RBV treatment. Conclusions: Our study shows that RBV has antiviral effect against SFTSV in a dose-dependent manner. Further studies are required to evaluate the effi cacy of RBV in SFTS.

        도시확장 분석을 위한 위성영상 토지이용 분류기준 설정에 관한 연구

        위성영상 자료는 도시의 물리적 확장을 분석하는데 있어 매우 유용하게 활용된다. 도시의 물리적 확장은 도시의 토지이용과 밀접하게 관련되어 있으며, 지속가능한 도시성장을 위해서는 토지이용을 중심으로 한 지속적인 성장관리가 필수적이다. 그러나 위성영상을 이용한 도시 토지이용의 분류는 우선 그 기준이 사용자의 관점에 따라 다르고 영상 해상도 등에 따라서도 그 기준이 달라질 수 있다. 따라서 도시 확장 분석을 위해서는 다중시기의 위성영상 및 항공사진을 이용하여 토지이용의 분류를 시행하고, 시기별 토지이용의 변화와 영상을 분석함으로써 확장의 형태와 패턴을 파악하여, 이를 기반으로 향후의 도사 확장을 예측할 수 있는 모델 개발이 가능해진다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 도시 확장 예측 모델 개발의 전 단계로써 다양한 공간 해상도를 지닌 원격탐사 자료의 국내외 분류기준의 검토를 통해, 원격탐사 자료를 이용한 토지이용 분류기준을 도시확장 분석의 측면에서 설정하고자 한다. All the urban planning process require land use informations, which should be obtained after through intensive investigation and accurate analysis about the past and current situations and conditions of a city. Until now, the generation of land use informations form remotely sensed imagery has had many limitation because of its spatial resolution. It is now expected that the availability of high resolution satellite imagery whose spatial resolution less than 10m will reduce these limitations. For the purpose of urban growth monitoring we must first establish a urban land use classification nomenclature. In this study, we would like to establish a land use nomenclature for land use classification using remotely sensed data, especially using KOMPSAT EOC imagery.

        In this work, [NiFe/Ag]?? multilayers were deposited by magnetron sputtering method with NiFe and Ag targets. Before the deposition of multilayers, we investigated relationships between process parameters and deposition rate. Magnetoresistance(MR) is increased with increasing the annealing temperature, and it is expected to be affected by interfacial roughness on the basis of the analysis with XRD and AFM. High MR(3.7%) was found in [NiFe(30Å)/Ag(30Å)]?? Si(100) films in the case of increasing the interfacial area ratio of films. It was found that the maximum MR(4.2%) in [NiFe(35Å)/Ag(30Å)]?? Si(100) films when the thickness of NiFe layers was varied by 5Å respectively. Also, MR is increased as the stacking numbers of bilayer increased from 10 to 20.

        주택가격 분석을 통한 친환경인증단지 실효성 연구 : 수도권 공동주택을 중심으로 Focused on The Multi-Family Housing in The Capital Region

        The propose of this study is to evaluate the environment-friendly housing estates by the housing price analysis in the capital region of Korea For this purpose this study compares the certified and the non-certified housing estates in terms of the housing price differences between them. 20 certified and 40 non-certified estates were selected to analyze housing price difference according to the factors which affect the housing price In order to find out the evaluation factor differences T-test and Chai square were conducted and Cluster analysis was also done for the different housing estates It finds that no housing price differences between the certified and non-certified estates exist clearly It means the Environment-friendly certification system does not work effectively in the housing development in Korea From the price difference analysis this study suggests the environment elements to be provided In the new housing development It also discusses the reasons why the certification system does not operate in the housing development Finally, this study concludes with the some recommendations for the future Environment-friendly housing development

        In the RF gas discharge system the load varies frequently by the operational environment. And it is often necessary to change the matching network to provide the maximum possible power transfer from the oscillator to the RF load. An Rf oscillator whose variable operating frequency is between 20 and 30 MHz and whose output RF power is about 200 watts was designed to solve this problem. The conversion efficiency from the DC power was about 80% It is found that the output oscillating frequency which gives minimum RF reflections from the loads follows automatically to the changes of the load or of the operating conditions. It is also found that the output frequency decreases with the larger load shunt capacitance.

      • 만성 C형 간염 환자에서 페그인터페론 알파2a와 리바비린 병합 치료중 발생한 벨마비 1예

        페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합요법은 만성 C형 간염의 일차 치료법이다. 저자들은 만성 C형 간염 환자에서 페그인터페론 과 리바비린 병합 요법 중에 발생한 벨마비 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. 환자는 5년 전부터 만성 C형 간염을 앓아온 48세 남자이며, PEG-IFN α-2a 135μgm 피하주사 주1회와 하루 1200㎎의 리바비린을 투여하였다. 치료시작 후 9개월째 환자는 오른쪽 안면의 근력약화를 호소하였으며 벨마비로 진단되었다. 페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합요법을 지속하면서 관찰하였다. 환자의 벨마비는 페그인터페론 치료를 중단하지 않았음에도 3개월후 증상이 회복되고 이후 벨마비 재발 없이 현재 경과관찰 중이다. 만성 C형 간염에서 페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합 요법시 벨마비의 발생 가능성을 염두에 두어야 하겠다. A Case of Bell's Palsy Associated with Combination Therapy of Pegylated Interferon Alfa-2a (PEG-IFN) and Ribavirin for Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection Pegylated interferon alfa(PEG-IFN α) and ribavirin therapy is the first line treatment for chronic hepatitis C. Mild complications of the therapy are common, but more serious complications are rare. We report here a case of Bell's palsy that occurred in a patient with chronic hepatitis C virus infection during combination therapy of PEG-IFN α-2a and ribavirin. The patient was 49-year-old man with chronic hepatitis C (genotype 1b) for 8 years. He had compensated liver cirrhosis with splenomegaly. Therapy with PEG-IFN α- 2a 135mcg/week and ribavirin 1200mg/day was initiated. After 9 months of the therapy, the patient showed a loss of muscular tone on the right side of his face. A diagnosis of Bell's palsy was made. The Bell's palsy resolved over 3 months despite continuation of the combination therapy.

        The present study was carried out to investigate the potential acute toxicity of safflower seed by a single oral dose in ICR mice. Twenty animals of each sex were randomly assigned to four groups of 5 rats each and were administered singly by gavage at dose levels of 0, and 2,500 mg/kg bodyweight. Mortalities, clinical findings, and body weight changes were found and complete gross postmortem examinations were performed. Throughout the study period, no treatment-related deaths were observed. There were no adverse effects in clinical signs, body weight, and gross findings at any dose tested. The results showed that the single oral administration of safflower seed did not cause any toxic effect at the dose levels of 2,500 mg/kg in rats and the minimal lethal dose was considered to be over 2,500 mg/kg body weight for both sexes.

        癎疾의 腦波와 電算化斷層撮影 所見에 對한 比較考察

        Computed tomography is of prime importance in the diagnosis of epilepsy. In a previous study, one of the authors (Chang) reported that the proportion of organic lesion in epilepsy was approximately 49% according to CT examination. In this article, the authors studied the correlation of EEG and CT findings in 232 epileptic patients, who had been managed in Kyung-Hee University Hospital from October 1977 to March 1981. The patient population consisted of 155 males(66.8%) and 77 females(33.2%). Age distribution was broad ranging from 3 months to 72 years and 75% of patients were below the age of 40. The types of epilepsy were centrencephalic epilepsy(145 grand mal and 2 petit mal); 64.5%(N=147) and focal epilepsy(6 Jacksonian, 12 T.L.E, and 67 others); 36.5%(N=85). Data were analysed and the following results were obtained: 1. There were no statistically significant differences in abnormal findings by using EEG(N=153, 65.9%) and CT(N=144, 62.1%) in total epileptic patients. 2. Abnormal CT findings in focal epilepsy(75.3%) was more frequent than that of centrencephalic epilepsy(54.4%). 3. According to the rough subdivision of lesion sites (left, right, or diffuse), concordance rate of sites of abnormal EEG and CT was significantly high (74.7%, p<0.01). 4. Focal slowings in EEG was associated with higher proportion of abnormal CT (81.2%), as compared with focal paroxysms(29.4%).
