Modeling and balancing control for torque generation in combustion event scale for multi-cylinder SI engines

This paper presents a torque balancing control method for multi-cylinder SI engines. The deviation in average torque generation of sections with equal crank angle interval in ignition event scale is introduced as the index for balancing. Moreover, based on crank shaft dynamics in crank angle domain, an estimation method for this index from engine speed measurement is developed to avoid torque measurement. According to analysis in coupling characteristic in torque generation between cylinders, a 2nd order ARMA model is established for the dynamics from spark ignition to the index. Then model predictive control technique is used in regulation. Finally, the proposed model, estimation method and controller are validated by simulation where the engine model is provided by SICE benchmark problem.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the true meaning of the communication liberalization considering the execution factor of the liberalization of telecommunications in japan. Although a large number of studies have been made on the liberalization of telecommunications of Japan. Little is known about the influence which linkage of international politics and domestic politics exert on the liberalization of telecommunications. Thus the author analyzes the execution background of the telecommunications liberalization of Japan again from the viewpoint of "structural function theory", Domestic political process" and Influence power of international politics. The political background, process, specific policies and promotional mechanisms are already discussed in detail in this paper. The National IT Strategy began to be promoted seriously in 2001. Although policy evaluation may be premature at this moment, the policies decided at the Plan are expected to be implemented on schedule, as the benchmark was introduced and made it possible to check the progress of the policies each fiscal year.

중국 전자상거래 기업의 제3자 물류기업 선택 기준과 평가에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 최근 급격히 증가하고 있는 중국 전자상거래에서 제3자 물류기업 선정기준을 AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process)기법을 사용하여 각 평가요인들의 상대적 중요도를 도출하고자 한다. 선정을 위한 요인으로 1단계에는 가격, 물류서비스, 편리성, 기업역량의 4가지 항목을 두었고, 2단계에는 가격경쟁력, 가격세분화, 정보제공, 신속성, 안전성, 접근성, 다양성, 재무안전성, 파트너쉽을 두었다. 3단계는 중국의 주요 물류기업인 Deppon express, S.F. Express, STO express, 우정국택배, CNEX의 5개 물류기업을 물류기업 선정의 대안으로 설정하였다. 이를 평가하기 위하여 중국의 전자상거래기업과 일반제조기업으로 나누어 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과를 제3자 물류기업의 선정요인의 우선순위는 가격, 물류서비스, 편리성, 기업역량 순서로 평가되어 가격과 물류서비스의 중요도가 특히 높은 것으로 나타났다. SF Express가 가장 경쟁력있는 것으로 평가되었는데, 두 그룹간에는 조금의 차이가 발생했다. 전자상거래 기업은 SF Express를 선호한 반면, 일반 제조기업들은 Deppon Express를 선호하였다. Purpose : This paper evaluates the relative importance of selection criteria on 3PL logistics companies from Chinese e-business companies’ viewpoints. Research design, data, methodology : Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) is employed to fulfill the objective of this paper using price, logistics services, convenience and firm competency as the first-level criteria. In addition major 3PL companies in China are evaluated based on the criteria and their importance such as Deppon Express, S.F. Express, STO express, China EMS, CNEX. Data are collected from E-business firms and manufacturers in China for comparison purpose. Results : The results suggest that price is considered the most important and there is no significant difference between E-business firms and manufacturers. SF Express is evaluated the highest, but manufacturers prefers Deppon Express whereas SF express is preferred by E-business firms. Conclusion : This paper shows that price factor has the most important role in logistics company selection in E-business as well as manufacturing industry.

Deformation path and springback behavior in double-curved bending at high temperature

In this work, integrated double-curved bending–sizing–unloading is simulated for a Ti6Al4V titanium alloy sheet. Bending radii R30 mm × R30 mm and R30 mm × R15 mm are used in the bending tests at 700 °C and 750 °C, respectively. A holding time of 0–600 s is applied to explore the effect of sizing time on forming accuracy. Similar experimental tests are performed for comparison with the finite element analysis results. Results show that bending behavior varies remarkably with the bidirectional radii. As for equal bidirectional curvature, bending along each direction occurs simultaneously. Given that bidirectional radii are different, the sheet consecutively experiences single small-, single large-, and double-curved bending. The deformation path results in nonuniform plastic strain distribution. The springback amount increases from the center to the marginal middle zone. Sizing at 700 °C or 750 °C in 600 s or 180–600 s can remarkably reduce the springback amount, respectively. The springback prediction via finite element method is consistent with that of the experiment.

Electron Heating and Current Scaling in a GaAs Two-Dimensional Electron System

We present experimental results on hot-carrier phenomena in a GaAs/AlGaAs two-dimensional electron system in the integer and fractional quantum Hall regions. In the integer region at low magnetic fields, a relationship $T_e$ $\sim$ $I^{0.52}$ between the effective carrier temperature $T_e$ and the source-drain current $I$ is obtained from Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations at several magnetic fields, 0.2 $\sim$ 0.5 T, and currents, 0.1 $\sim$ 4 $\mu$A. These results are in agreement with results obtained in the current-dependent broadening of resistance peaks in the quantum Hall region of spin-split Landau levels. However, in the fractional region for the filling factor $\nu = 5/3 (B = 7$ T), a power law relationship $T_e$ $\sim$ $I^{0.37}$ is obtained. The difference in exponent may be due to different energy relaxation mechanisms between these two regions.

Percutaneous Endoscopic Interbody Debridement and Fusion for Pyogenic Lumbar Spondylodiskitis: Surgical Technique and the Comparison With Percutaneous Endoscopic Drainage and Debridement

Objective: Surgical treatment of severe infectious spondylodiskitis remains challenging. Although minimally invasive percutaneous endoscopic drainage and debridement (PEDD) may yield good results in complicated cases, outcomes of patients with extensive structural damage and mechanical instability may be unsatisfactory. To address severe infectious spondylodiskitis, we have developed a surgical technique called percutaneous endoscopic interbody debridement and fusion (PEIDF), which comprises endoscopic debridement, bone-graft interbody fusion, and percutaneous posterior instrumentation. Methods: Outcomes of PEIDF in 12 patients and PEDD in 15 patients with infectious spondylodiskitis from April 2014 to July 2018 were reviewed retrospectively. Outcome were compared between 2 kinds of surgical procedures. Results: Patients in PEIDF group had significantly lower rate of revision surgery (8.3% vs. 58.3%), better kyphosis angle (-5.73°±8.74 vs. 1.07°±2.70 in postoperative; 7.09°±7.23 vs. 0.79°±4.08 in kyphosis correction at 1 year), and higher fusion rate (83.3% vs. 46.7%) than those who received PEDD. Conclusion: PEIDF is an effective approach for treating infectious spondylodiskitis, especially in patients with spinal instability and multiple medical comorbidities.

Sweet Olive Extract Attenuates Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis in Mice

Sweet olive (Osmanthus fragrans flowers) is used to treat dysentery and reduce phlegm and stasis in traditional Chinese medicine. Recently, we found that verbascoside, the major component in the sweet olive ethanolic extract (OFE), inhibited IL-8 secretion in human colorectal adenocarcinoma WiDr cells. However, evidence-based treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with the extract is yet to be performed. To evaluate the therapeutic effect of OFE, we measured IL-8 suppression by OFE and verbascoside in a WiDr cell culture assay. In the IL-8 secretion assay, both OFE (100 μg/mL) and verbascoside (10 μM) significantly inhibited IL-8 production in WiDr cells. Furthermore, we designed cotreated (dextran sulfate sodium [DSS]+OFE-treated) and post-treated (DSS–OFE-treated) protocols to access the therapeutic effects of OFE in vivo. Mice treated with 500 mg/kg per day OFE exhibited significant improvement in IBD symptoms, including disease activity index score, body weight, and colon length maintenance. The suppressive effects on myeloperoxidase expression and lower histopathology scores (including neutrophil infiltration) for the colon were also found. These findings suggest that OFE exerts anti-inflammatory effect on DSS-induced colitis.

Efficient Mode Decision Algorithm Based on Spatial, Temporal, and Inter-layer Rate-Distortion Correlation Coefficients for Scalable Video Coding

The layered coding structure of scalable video coding (SVC) with adaptive inter-layer prediction causes noticeable computational complexity increments when compared to existing video coding standards. To lighten the computational complexity of SVC, we present a fast algorithm to speed up the inter-mode decision process. The proposed algorithm terminates inter-mode decision early in the enhancement layers by estimating the rate-distortion (RD) cost from the macroblocks of the base layer and the enhancement layer in temporal, spatial, and inter-layer directions. Moreover, a search range decision algorithm is also proposed in this paper to further increase the motion estimation speed by using the motion vector information from temporal, spatial, or inter-layer domains. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can determine the best mode and provide more efficient total coding time saving with very slight RD performance degradation for spatial and quality scalabilities.
