Incremental Fuzzy Clustering Based on a Fuzzy Scatter Matrix

Liu, Yongli,Wang, Hengda,Duan, Tianyi,Chen, Jingli,Chao, Hao Korea Information Processing Society 2019 Journal of information processing systems Vol.15 No.2

For clustering large-scale data, which cannot be loaded into memory entirely, incremental clustering algorithms are very popular. Usually, these algorithms only concern the within-cluster compactness and ignore the between-cluster separation. In this paper, we propose two incremental fuzzy compactness and separation (FCS) clustering algorithms, Single-Pass FCS (SPFCS) and Online FCS (OFCS), based on a fuzzy scatter matrix. Firstly, we introduce two incremental clustering methods called single-pass and online fuzzy C-means algorithms. Then, we combine these two methods separately with the weighted fuzzy C-means algorithm, so that they can be applied to the FCS algorithm. Afterwards, we optimize the within-cluster matrix and betweencluster matrix simultaneously to obtain the minimum within-cluster distance and maximum between-cluster distance. Finally, large-scale datasets can be well clustered within limited memory. We implemented experiments on some artificial datasets and real datasets separately. And experimental results show that, compared with SPFCM and OFCM, our SPFCS and OFCS are more robust to the value of fuzzy index m and noise.

Identification of the WRKY gene family in apricot and its response to drought stress

        Jing Chenjuan,Wang Duan,Liu Zhikun,Chen Xuefeng,Dong Hui,Wu Xiaohong 한국원예학회 2023 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.64 No.2

The WRKY family has been found in 14 plant species, and its members are mostly involved in plant stress resistance. Apricot ( Prunus armeniaca L.) trees are extremely drought tolerant, but the molecular mechanisms have not yet been elucidated. Therefore, we investigated the WRKY gene family in apricot and analyzed the gene expression patterns in response to drought stress. A total of 56 candidate WRKY genes (PaWRKY1–56 ) were identifi ed in the apricot genome. The putative proteins contain 162–1055 amino acids, with an isoelectric point of 5.0–9.68 and molecular weight of 18.76– 114.2 Da. The PaWRKY family has a heptapeptide domain (WRKY) and zinc fi nger domain (CX 5-7 CX 22-23 HXH), which show diff erential variations among three groups. Group I has 12 members, with 2 WRKY and zinc fi nger domains located at the C and N terminus, respectively. Group II can be further divided into II-b, II-c, II-d, and II-e, with 10, 13, 6, and 7 members, respectively. Group III has eight members. Members of groups II and III have one WRKY and one zinc fi nger domain. Fifty-one PaWRKY genes are unevenly distributed across eight linkage groups. Only one tandem repeat event was detected, and gene duplication was identifi ed as the main factor driving gene evolution. A total of 28 PaWRKY genes responded to the drought–rehydration treatment. In particular, drought stress up-regulated PaWRKY11/14/48 expression and down-regulated PaWRKY23 expression. The genome-wide identifi cation, functional characterization, and evolution- ary analysis of the PaWRKY family yield new insights into the role of WRKY in the drought tolerance of apricot trees.

      • Blind Separation of Permuted Alias Image with Motion Blurred Using Image Enhancement in NSCT Domain

        DUAN Xin-tao,WANG Jing-juan,PENG Tao,LI Fei-fei,LIU Shang-Wang,LIU Tuan-ning 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.3

Focused on the issue that motion blurred permuted alias image blind separation, an algorithm using image enhancement based on nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) domain was proposed. Firstly, permuted alias image was decomposed into low-frequency sub-band and high-frequency sub-bands, which were obtained by spare decomposition based on NSCT domain. Coefficients of high-frequency sub-bands were enhanced according to Bayesian shrinkage threshold and nonlinear gain function, and the enhanced version was got by this method. Then the permuted alias image and the enhanced version were blocked, the correlation coefficients were estimated by each corresponding sub-block, because the permuting image was changed larger, the permuting image could be separated by using threshold method. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can separate the permuting image effectively from the permuted alias image in spite of the motion blurred direction, blur degree, size, location and the number of permuting image.

Layer-by-layer Self-assembly Polyurethane/TiO2 NPs Hybrid Film and Its Photocatalytic Efficiency for Decolorization of Methyl Blue

        Yijiong Liu,Juanqin Xue,Yinli Duan,Liang-Sheng Qiang,Jing Ma 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.9

In this study, Layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly technique was used to fabricate TiO2 films onto glass slides. Polyurethane (PU) was used as a substrate for the immobilization of TiO2, to increase the adsorption ability of thephotocatalyst. The LBL sequence was (PU/TiO2 NPs)n (n is the number of bilayers). These LbL hybrid films werecharacterized by Raman spectra, which confirmed the formation of TiO2 nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) in the anatase phase withaverage size around 30 nm. The thickness of the film estimated around 1.1±0.2 μm as determined by scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM). UV-vis spectra confirmed the linear and regular growth of the films with the number of bilayers. Thephotocatalytic property of the films was investigated by the decomposition of methyl blue (MB) under UV-light irradiation. Furthermore, the reusability studies revealed that the fabricated film could be repeatedly used for up to six times withoutaffecting the photocatalytic activity. In addition, the corresponding mechanism of enhanced photocatalytic activity wasproposed on the basis of the investigated results from reactive species scavenging of (PU/TiO2 NPs)10. The active species h+played the most important role in the photocatalytic reaction. This work manifested that the LbL films can be handled moreeasily than TiO2 NPs in suspension form. Therefore, as-synthesized film is a promising candidate in wastewater treatmentapplication.

Facile Synthesis of Thermo-responsive TiO2/PNIPAM Composite with Switchable Photocatalytic Performance

        Yinli Duan,Jing Ma,Jiao Liu,Liang-Sheng Qiang,Juanqin Xue 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.4

In this paper, a facile and efficient method was performed to prepare the thermo-responsive Poly(Nisopropylacrylamide)/TiO2 (TiO2/PNIPAM) with the dispersing of TiO2 nanoparticles into PNIPAM. The structures ofnanoparticles and the grafted polymer were confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectra, Fourier transforminfrared spectra (FT-IR) and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS). The interactions between the two components were studied byX-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and the morphology of TiO2/PNIPAM was observed by scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM). The results showed that TiO2 exhibited homogeneous dispersion, without sacrificing the properties ofTiO2. Furthermore, The composite was used to photocatalytic degradation of Methylene blue (MB). The highest MB removalefficiency is 86.3 %. The photocatalytic activities above or below the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of PNIPAMwas also investigated. The experiment results show that the existence of PNIPAM contributed not only the thermo-responsiveabilities to TiO2, but also the enhanced photocatalytic activities to TiO2. In addition, the corresponding mechanism ofenhanced photocatalytic activity was proposed. The results manifest that the well-designed TiO2/PNIPAM is a promisingcandidate in wastewater treatment application.

Superluminescent diode integrated with monitor photodiode

        Zhou Shuai,Liu Kun,Li Peng,Pang Fu-Bin,Zhang Jing,Kong Xiang-Ping,Duan Li-Hua,Zhang Chang-Chun 한국물리학회 2023 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.82 No.2

Ridge-waveguide superluminescent diodes with integrated rear-side monitoring photodiode have been fabricated. When electrical isolation trench is not etched to active layer, the leakage current of monitoring photodiode is determined by the resistance between active region electrode and monitoring photodiode electrode, i.e. the resistance multiplied by the leakage current approximately equals to 0.8 V. In order to reduce the leakage current of monitoring photodiode, the electrical isolation trench must be etched into substrate layer. In addition, the electrical isolation trench has to be far enough away from the active region so that the superluminescent diode could achieve small spectral ripple.

The Antiobesity Effects and Potential Mechanisms of Theaflavins

        Jinghua Peng,Jing Hu,Yi Fang,Jun Wang,Yu Cao,Wenrui Liu,Lianxiang Duan 한국식품영양과학회 2024 Journal of medicinal food Vol.27 No.1

Theaflavins are the characteristic polyphenols in black tea which can be enzymatically synthesized. In thisreview, the effects and molecular mechanisms of theaflavins on obesity and its comorbidities, including dyslipidemia, insulinresistance, hepatic steatosis, and atherosclerosis, were summarized. Theaflavins ameliorate obesity potentially via reducingfood intake, inhibiting pancreatic lipase to reduce lipid absorption, activating the adenosine monophosphate-activated proteinkinase (AMPK), and regulating the gut microbiota. As to the comorbidities, theaflavins ameliorate hypercholesterolemia byinhibiting micelle formation to reduce cholesterol absorption. Theaflavins improve insulin sensitivity by increasing thesignaling of protein kinase B, eliminating glucose toxicity, and inhibiting inflammation. Theaflavins ameliorate hepaticsteatosis via activating AMPK. Theaflavins reduce atherosclerosis by upregulating nuclear factor erythropoietin-2-relatedfactor 2 signaling and inhibiting plasminogen activator inhibitor 1. In randomized controlled trails, black tea extractscontaining theaflavins reduced body weight in overweight people and improved glucose tolerance in healthy adults. Theamelioration on the hyperlipidemia and the prevention of coronary artery disease by black tea extracts were supportedby meta-analysis.

The Novel Pathogenic Mutation c.849dupT in BRCA2 Contributes to the Nonsense-Mediated mRNA Decay of BRCA2 in Familial Breast Cancer

        Sanrong Li,Jing Ma,Caiying Hu,Xing Zhang,Deyong Xiao,Lili Hao,Wenjun Xiao,Jichun Yang,Ling Hu,Xiaowei Liu,Minghui Dong,Duan Ma,Rensheng Liu 한국유방암학회 2018 Journal of breast cancer Vol.21 No.3

In this study, we used next-generation sequencing methods to screen 300 individuals for BRCA1 and BRCA2. A novel mutation (c.849dupT) in BRCA2 was identified in a female patient and her unaffected brothers. This mutation leads to the truncation of BRCA2 functional domains. Moreover, BRCA2 mRNA expression levels in mutation carriers are significantly reduced compared to noncarriers. Immunofluorescence and western blot assays showed that this mutation resulted in reduced BRCA2 protein expression. Thus, we identified a novel mutation that damaged the function and expression of BRCA2 in a family with breast cancer history. The pedigree analysis suggested that this mutation is strongly associated with familial breast cancer. Genetic counsellors suggest that mutation carriers in this family undergo routine screening for breast cancer, as well as other malignancies, such as prostate and ovarian cancer. The effects of this BRCA2 mutation on drug resistance should be taken into consideration during treatment.

Pokemon Inhibits Transforming Growth Factor β-Smad4-Related Cell Proliferation Arrest in Breast Cancer through Specificity Protein 1

        Ling Chen,Jing Zhong,Jiang-Hua Liu,Duan-Fang Liao,Ying-Ying Shen,Xiao-Lin Zhong,Xiao Xiao,Wen-Jun Ding,Xiu-Da Peng,Wei Xiong,Xu-Yu Zu 한국유방암학회 2019 Journal of breast cancer Vol.22 No.1

Purpose: Pokemon, also known as ZBTB7A, belongs to the POZ and Krüppel (POK) family of transcription repressors and is implicated in tumor progression as a key proto-oncogene. This present study aimed at determining the mechanism by which Pokemon inhibits transforming growth factor β (TGFβ)-Smad4 pathway-dependent proliferation arrest of breast cancer cells via specificity protein 1 (SP1). Methods: Over-expressing plasmid or small interfering RNA (siRNA) transfection was used to regulate Pokemon levels. The EdU incorporation assay, MTS assay, and clone formation were used to identify the inhibitory effect of Pokemon siRNA on cell proliferation. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction assay confirmed that Pokemon deletion inhibited the expression of proliferation-associated genes. The dual-luciferase reporter assay, electrophoretic mobility shift assay, and co-immunoprecipitation assay were used to analyze binding between Pokemon, Smad4, and SP1. Results: Pokemon deletion induced proliferation arrest of breast cancer cells and inhibited the expression of proliferation-associated genes, especially Smad4. Pokemon bound with SP1 to interdict Smad4 promoter activity. Information on clinical samples was obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas data, in which the Pokemon mRNA levels showed a negative correlation with Smad4 levels in different subtypes of breast cancer in two independent datasets. Conclusion: We demonstrated that Pokemon binds to SP1 to down-regulate Smad4 expression, thereby promoting proliferation of breast cancer cells. This suggests that Pokemon is a potential TGFβ-signaling participant in breast cancer progression.
