Insufficient radiofrequency ablation-induced autophagy contributes to the rapid progression of residual hepatocellular carcinoma through the HIF-1α/BNIP3 signaling pathway

        ( Wen-lei Xu ),( Shao-hong Wang ),( Wen-bing Sun ),( Jun Gao ),( Xue-mei Ding ),( Jian Kong ),( Li Xu ),( Shan Ke ) 생화학분자생물학회(구 한국생화학분자생물학회) 2019 BMB Reports Vol.52 No.4

Currently speaking, it is noted that radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has been the most widely used treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) occurring in patients. However, accumulating evidence has demonstrated that the incidence of insufficient RFA (IRFA) may result in the identified rapid progression of residual HCC in the patient, which can greatly hinder the effectiveness and patient reported benefits of utilizing this technique. Although many efforts have been proposed, the underlying mechanisms triggering the rapid progression of residual HCC after IRFA have not yet been fully clarified through current research literature reviews. It was shown in this study that cell proliferation, migration and invasion of residual HepG2 and SMMC7721 cells were significantly increased after the IRFA was simulated in vitro. In other words, it is noted that IRFA could do this by enhancing the image of autophagy of the residual HCC cell via the HIF-1 α/BNIP3 pathway. Consequently, the down-regulation of BNIP3 may result in the inhibition of the residual HCC cell progression and autophagy after IRFA. Our present study results suggest that IRFA could promote residual HCC cell progression in vitro by enhancing autophagy via the HIF-1 α/BNIP3 pathway. For this reason, it is noted that the targeting of the BNIP3 may be useful in preventing the rapid growth and metastasis of residual HCC after IRFA. [BMB Reports 2019; 52(4): 277-282]

Improving the electrical performance of HfInZnO-TFTs by introducing a thin ITO interlayer

        Jun Li,Xing-Wei Ding,Jianhua Zhang,Wen-Qing Zhu,Xue-Yin Jiang,Zhi-Lin Zhang 한국물리학회 2014 Current Applied Physics Vol.14 No.8

We have fabricated hafniumeindiumezinc-oxide (HfInZnO) thin film transistors (TFT) with indiumetinoxide (ITO) interlayer. Compared with conventional HfInZnO-TFT, the electrical performance and bias stability of HfInZnO-TFTs with ITO interlayer are improved. HfInZnO-TFT with 4-nm-thick ITO interlayer shows a high mobility of 7.2 cm2/V s, a low threshold voltage of 0.13 V and a better bias stability. The performance enhancement is attributed to a decrease in interface trap state and an increase in carrier concentration. It suggests that introducing ITO interlayer at the ALD Al2O3/HfInZnO interface is an effective way to improve the electrical performance and bias stability.

Diversity of Thermophilic Fungi in Tengchong Rehai National Park Revealed by ITS Nucleotide Sequence Analyses

        Wen-Zheng Pan,Xiao-Wei Huang,Kang-Bi Wei,Chun-Mei Zhang,Dong-Mei Yang,Jun-Mei Ding,Ke-Qin Zhang 한국미생물학회 2010 The journal of microbiology Vol.48 No.2

The geothermal sites near neutral and alkalescent thermal springs in Tengchong Rehai National Park were examined through cultivation-dependent approach to determine the diversity of thermophilic fungi in these environments. Here, we collected soils samples in this area, plated on agar media conducive for fungal growth, obtained pure cultures, and then employed the method of internal transcribed spacer (ITS)sequencing combined with morphological analysis for identification of thermophilic fungi to the species level. In total, 102 strains were isolated and identified as Rhizomucor miehei, Chaetomium sp., Talaromyces thermophilus, Talaromyces byssochlamydoides, Thermoascus aurantiacus Miehe var. levisporus, Thermomyces lanuginosus, Scytalidium thermophilum, Malbranchea flava, Myceliophthora sp. 1, Myceliophthora sp. 2,Myceliophthora sp. 3, and Coprinopsis sp. Two species, T. lanuginosus and S. thermophilum were the dominant species, representing 34.78% and 28.26% of the sample, respectively. Our results indicated a greater diversity of thermophilic fungi in neutral and alkaline geothermal sites than acidic sites around hot springs reported in previous studies. Most of our strains thrived at alkaline growth conditions.

Effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for angina pectoris: An overview of systematic reviews

        Qi Wen-Chuan,Fu Hong-Juan,Sun Rui-Rui,Li Xiang,Cai Ding-Jun,Wang Chao,Liang Fan-Rong 한국한의학연구원 2022 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.11 No.3

Background: The number of systematic reviews or meta-analyses (SRs/MAs) on the effectiveness of acupuncture for angina pectoris (AP) is increasing. Due to the inconsistent conclusions and unknown quality of these SRs/MAs, this overview aimed to systematically evaluate and synthesize the existing SRs/MAs, attempting to provide more reliable evidence for the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of AP. Methods: SRs/MAs were searched via eight databases from inception to March 14, 2022. The risk of bias was evaluated using the Risk of Bias in Systematic reviews (ROBIS) tool. The quality of the methodology, reporting, and evidence were assessed by the Assess Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR-2), the Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis for Acupuncture (PRISMA-A), and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) system, respectively. Results: Sixteen SRs/MAs were included and fifteen SRs/MAs were considered being of critically low quality according to AMSTAR-2. Only three SRs/MAs were rated at low risk of bias. No study reported all the items listed in the PRISMA-A checklist. No high-quality evidence with GRADE assessment was found. With the low-quality evidence, acupuncture combined with other interventions was superior to monotherapy (medications or Chinese medicine) in the angina symptom and electrocardiogram recovery. No adverse effects owing to acupuncture were reported. Conclusions: Owing to the lack of high-quality evidence provided by the current SRs/MAs, the effective-ness of acupuncture for AP still warrants further proof. Further researches with more critical design and methodology are needed for providing more convincing evidence. Magnetic and Optical Studies of Hydrogenated Cu-doped ZnO Film

Tong Li,Wen Xiao,Tun Seng Herng,Nina Bao,Jun Ding 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.12

Significantly enhanced ferromagnetism and strong green emission were observed for Cu-dopedZnO films undergoing a hydrogenation process. After H2 treatment at 500 C, the saturation magnetizationof 2 at% Cu-doped ZnO film (50 nm) is significantly increased from 1.65 emu cm−3(0.3 µB/Cu) to 11.7 emu cm−3 (1.5 µB/Cu). The areal magnetization of the hydrogenated CudopedZnO is dependent on the film thickness, thus suggesting that it is Cu dopants that playdominant roles rather than surface magnetism arising from OH attachment. Detailed XPS and Ramananalysis demonstrated that H2 treatment may introduce more Cu (Cu1+ -like) impurities andoxygen vacancies that coupled with each other, resulting in ferromagnetic ordering. Furthermore, strong green emission can be obtained in hydrogenated Cu-doped ZnO films. The green emissionis unlikely related with Cu dopants, but H2 treatment can generate a unique structure with porousmorphology and coexistence of complex defects that favors the green emission. The “green defects”are not simple O vacancies or H-incorporation and are stable after annealing at 700 C underO2 atmosphere. The high room temperature ferromagnetism and strong green light emission ofhydrogenated Cu-doped ZnO film pave a way to its novel applications in future spintronics andoptoelectronic devices.

Machining characteristics of USV-MF complex assisted WEDM-LS based on multi-physical coupling

        Yan Wang,Shun-wen Yao,Zi-jun Ding,Chen-zhen Wu,Wei Xiong 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.8 No.2

Ultrasonic vibration (USV) and magnetic field (MF) complex assisted techniques are combined with low speed wire electrical discharge machining (USV-MF complex assisted WEDM-LS) to improve the machining performance of conventional WEDM-LS. Firstly, the simulation results of multi-physical coupling simulation model show that under the influence of ultrasonic vibration, the working fluid fluidity is greatly enhanced and its temperature is significantly decreased. Then, a three-phase flow model of bubble, working fluid and debris in the machining area is established to investigate the effects of ultrasonic vibration on bubble and debris, and the process of bubble rupture is simulated. The simulation results show that with the increase of ultrasonic frequency, the movement of bubble and debris becomes fiercer and fiercer, when ultrasonic frequency is 30 kHz and ultrasonic amplitude is 10 μm, the bubble is collapsed. Finally, comparison of the experimental results of conventional WEDM-LS, USV assisted WEDM-LS, MF assisted WEDM-LS and USV-MF complex assisted WEDM-LS in machining TiNi-01 shape memory alloy reveals that the ratio of normal discharge and the material removal rate are both increased, the workpiece surface roughness value is decreased and the workpiece surface quality is improved in the process of USV-MF complex assisted WEDM-LS.

      • Hepatic Angiomyolipoma: Contrast Patterns with SonoVue-enhanced Real-time Gray-scale Ultrasonography

        Wei, Rui-Xue,Wang, Wen-Ping,Ding, Hong,Huang, Bei-Jian,Li, Chao-Lun,Fan, Pei-Li,Hou, Jun,He, Nian-An Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.2

This study was conducted to retrospectively evaluate the pattern of contrast enhancement with SonoVue on gray-scale ultrasonography of hepatic angiomyolipoma (HAML). Imaging features of 33 pathologically proven HAML lesions in 33 patients who underwent baseline ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) were assessed retrospectively. All lesions were enhanced in the arterial phase and showed whole-tumor filling in. Thirty-two of 33 (97%) lesions showed early positive enhancement in the arterial phase. Twenty-three of these exhibited isoechoic or hyperechoic features in the portal phase. HAML demonstrate characteristic manifestations with SonoVue-enhanced real-time gray-scale ultrasonography.

Crossed Andreev reflection in a quantum dot coupled to a topological superconducting single-stranded DNA

        Han-Zhao Tang,Guan-Jun Ding,Xue-Wen Guo 한국물리학회 2020 Current Applied Physics Vol.20 No.11

We investigate the crossed Andreev reflection (CAR) through a quantum dot (QD) coupled to topological superconducting single-stranded DNA (ssDNA). It is found that the topological nontrivial states appear in the QD due to leakage of the Majorana zero mode. Majorana zero mode can be identified by measuring the CAR. This device can be used as a Majorana zero mode detector that relies on the system parameters, such as the spin orbit coupling, the twist angle, molecular length. A high efficiency Cooper pair splitter can be realized by regulating the magnitude and direction of the gate voltage. In additions, the signature of CAR is robust against the Coulomb blockade and the disorder induced by distinct amino acids. This work provides an alternative method for detection of Majorana zero mode in ssDNA.
