      • Synthesis and Characterization of Cobalt-Doped WS 2 Nanorods for Lithium Battery Applications

        Wang, Shiquan,Li, Guohua,Du, Guodong,Li, Li,Jiang, Xueya,Feng, Chuanqi,Guo, Zaiping,Kim, Seungjoo Springer 2010 NANOSCALE RESEARCH LETTERS Vol.5 No.8

<P>Cobalt-doped tungsten disulfide nanorods were synthesized by an approach involving exfoliation, intercalation, and the hydrothermal process, using commercial WS2 powder as the precursor and <I>n</I>-butyllithium as the exfoliating reagent. XRD results indicate that the crystal phase of the sample is 2H-WS2. TEM images show that the sample consists of bamboo-like nanorods with a diameter of around 20 nm and a length of about 200 nm. The Co-doped WS2 nanorods exhibit the reversible capacity of 568 mAh g−1 in a voltage range of 0.01–3.0 V versus Li/Li+. As an electrode material for the lithium battery, the Co-doped WS2 nanorods show enhanced charge capacity and cycling stability compared with the raw WS2 powder.</P>

Homocysteine-targeting compounds as a new treatment strategy for diabetic wounds via inhibition of the histone methyltransferase SET7/9

        Li Guodong,Li Dan,Wu Chun,Li Shengnan,Chen Feng,Li Peng,Ko Chung-Nga,Wang Wanhe,Lee Simon Ming-Yuen,Lin Ligen,Ma Dik-Lung,Leung Chung-Hang 생화학분자생물학회 2022 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.54 No.-

In hypoxia and hyperglycemia, SET7/9 plays an important role in controlling HIF-1α methylation and regulating the transcription of HIF-1α target genes, which are responsible for angiogenesis and wound healing. Here, we report the Ir(III) complex Set7_1a bearing acetonitrile (ACN) ligands as a SET7/9 methyltransferase inhibitor and HIF-1α stabilizer. Interestingly, Set7_1a could engage SET7/9 and strongly inhibit SET7/9 activity, especially after preincubation with homocysteine (Hcy), which is elevated in diabetes. We hypothesize that Set7_1a exchanges ACN subunits for Hcy to disrupt the interaction between SET7/9 and SAM/SAH, which are structurally related to Hcy. Inhibition of SET7/9 methyltransferase activity by Set7_1a led to reduced HIF-1α methylation at the lysine 32 residue, causing increased HIF-1α level and recruitment of HIF-1α target genes that promote angiogenesis, such as VEGF, GLUT1, and EPO, in hypoxia and hyperglycemia. Significantly, Set7_1a improved wound healing in a type 2 diabetic mouse model by activating HIF-1α signaling and downstream proangiogenic factors. To our knowledge, this is the first Hcy-targeting iridium compound shown to be a SET7/9 antagonist that can accelerate diabetic wound healing. More importantly, this study opens a therapeutic avenue for the treatment of diabetic wounds by the inhibition of SET7/9 lysine methyltransferase activity.

Relationship between Fusion Mass Shift and Postoperative Distal Adding-on in Lenke 1 Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis after Selective Thoracic Fusion

        Li Yang,Li Jianlong,Luk Keith D. K.,Zhang Chenggui,Sun Jianmin,Wang Guodong 대한척추외과학회 2023 Asian Spine Journal Vol.17 No.6

Study Design: This is a retrospective cohort study.Purpose: This study aims to investigate the risk factors for postoperative distal adding-on in Lenke 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and validate the relationship between fusion mass shift (FMS) and postoperative distal adding-on.Overview of Literature: Postoperative distal curve adding-on is one of the complications in AIS. FMS has been proposed to prevent postoperative distal adding-on, which requires further validation from different institutions. Methods: This study included 60 patients with Lenke 1 AIS who underwent selective thoracic fusion surgery. Coronal spinal alignment parameters were analyzed preoperatively, postoperatively, and at the final follow-up. The postoperative FMS was divided into two groups: the balanced group (FMS ≤20 mm) and the unbalanced group (FMS >20 mm). An independent <i>t</i>-test was used to compare quantitative data between groups, and a chi-square test was used for qualitative data. Furthermore, binary logistic regression and receiver operating characteristics curve analyses were used to identify the risk factors for postoperative distal adding-on in AIS.Results: At 2-year follow-up, the unbalanced group was more likely to have adding-on (17 of 24 patients) than the balanced group (six of 36 patients; <i>p</i><0.001). Twenty-three patients with distal adding-on had significantly greater preoperative and postoperative lower instrumented vertebrae (LIV) rotation, FMS, and FMS angle (FMSA) than those without postoperative distal adding-on. Binary logistic regression analysis selected three independent risk factors for adding-on incidence after surgery: FMS (odds ratio [OR], 1.115; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.049–1.185; <i>p</i><0.001), FMSA (OR, 1.590; 95% CI, 1.225–2.064; <i>p</i><0.001), and postoperative LIV rotation (OR, 6.581; 95% CI, 2.280–19.000; <i>p</i><0.001).Conclusions: Achieving a balanced fusion mass intraoperatively is important to avoid postoperative distal adding-on, with FMS of <20 mm and FMS angle of <4.5°. Furthermore, correcting LIV rotation helps to decrease the incidence of postoperative distal addingon.

Down-regulation of PTTG1 suppresses PDGF-BB-induced proliferation, migration and extracellular matrix production of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) by regulating PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway

        Cheng Guodong,Liu Xiaowei,Li Ping,Li Yan 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2021 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.17 No.4

Backgrounds To investigate the biological functions and the molecular mechanisms of PTTG1 in PDGF-BB-induced ASMCs. Objectives QPCR and western blotting were used to detect PTTG1 levels in PDGF-BB-induced ASMCs. MTT, BrdU incorporation, cell apoptosis and cell invasion assays were performed to evaluate the effect of PTTG1 on cell proliferation, invasion and apoptosis, respectively. Western blotting was also used to assess the extracellular matrix and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway components in PDGF-BB-induced ASMCs. Results PTTG1 was highly expressed in PDGF-BB-induced ASMCs. The depletion of PTTG1 suppressed the proliferation and motility of PDGF-BB-induced ASMCs. The data further showed that PTTG1 ablation stimulated cell apoptosis, and inhibited the production of extracellular matrix by PDGF-BB-induced ASMCs. Mechanically, PTTG1 depletion inhibited the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting proliferation, motility, and extracellular matrix production. Conclusions PTTG1 could serve as a promising molecular target for the treatment of asthma. Critical seismic incidence angle of transmission tower based on shaking table tests

        Li Tian,Xu Dong,Haiyang Pan,Guodong Gao,Aiqiang Xin 국제구조공학회 2020 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.76 No.2

Transmission tower-line systems have come to represent one of the most important infrastructures in today’s society. Recent strong earthquakes revealed that transmission tower-line systems are vulnerable to earthquake excitations, and that ground motions may arrive at such structures from any direction during an earthquake event. Considering these premises, this paper presents experimental and numerical studies on the dynamic responses of a 1000 kV ultrahigh-voltage (UHV) transmission tower-line system under different seismic incidence angles. Specifically, a 1:25 reduced-scale experimental prototype model is designed and manufactured, and a series of shaking table tests are carried out. The influence of the seismic incidence angle on the dynamic structural response is discussed based on the experimental data. Additionally, the incidence angles corresponding to the maximum peak displacement of the top of the tower relative to the ground (referred to herein as the critical seismic incidence angles) are summarized. The experimental results demonstrate that seismic incidence angle has a significant influence on the dynamic responses of transmission tower-line systems. Subsequently, an approximation method is employed to orient the critical seismic incidence angle, and a corresponding finite element (FE) analysis is carried out. The angles obtained from the approximation method are compared with those acquired from the numerical simulation and shaking table tests, and good agreement is observed. The results demonstrate that the approximation method can properly predict the critical seismic incidence angles of transmission tower-line systems. This research enriches the available experimental data and provides a simple and convenient method to assess the seismic performance of UHV transmission systems.

Error compensation for snake arm maintainer under variable loads

        Guodong Qin,Huapeng Wu,Aihong Ji,Huan Shen,Qian Li,Qingfei Han,Zhikang Yang,Shikun Wen 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.2

The cable-driven snake arm maintainer (SAM) simplifies the electronics of the entire snake arm and is well suited for operation in narrow and high-risk environments. However, the structural features of the SAM, the large slenderness ratio and the effects of variable loads and rigid-flexible coupling deformation lead to large end position error. In order to improve the positional accuracy, a joint space error compensation model of a SAM is constructed using the matrix differentiation method. The error parameters under different loads and different poses are identified based on the principles of variable parameter error compensation and a linearized variable-load variable-parameter model. Parameter errors are then calculated by the Levenberg-Marquardt nonlinear damped least-squares algorithm. Finally, we verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by simulation and error compensation experiments. The results of the study provide a theoretical basis for further accuracy improvement and application expansion of the SAM.

MiR-29a and MiR-140 Protect Chondrocytes against the Anti-Proliferation and Cell Matrix Signaling Changes by IL-1β

Li, Xianghui,Zhen, Zhilei,Tang, Guodong,Zheng, Chong,Yang, Guofu Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2016 Molecules and cells Vol.39 No.2

As a degenerative joint disease, osteoarthritis (OA) constitutes a major cause of disability that seriously affects the quality of life of a large population of people worldwide. However, effective treatment that can successfully reverse OA progression is lacking until now. The present study aimed to determine whether two small non-coding RNAs miR-29a and miR-140, which are significantly down-regulated in OA, can be applied together as potential therapeutic targets for OA treatment. MiRNA synergy score was used to screen the miRNA pairs that potentially synergistically regulate OA. An in vitro model of OA was established by treating murine chondrocytes with IL-$1{\beta}$. Transfection of miR-29a and miR-140 via plasmids was investigated on chondrocyte proliferation and expression of nine genes such as ADAMTS4, ADAMTS5, ACAN, COL2A1, COL10A1, MMP1, MMP3, MMP13 and TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 1 (TIMP1). Western blotting was used to determine the protein expression level of MMP13 and TIMP1, and ELISA was used to detect the content of type II collagen. Combined use of miR-29a and miR-140 successfully reversed the destructive effect of IL-$1{\beta}$ on chondrocyte proliferation, and notably affected the MMP13 and TIMP1 gene expression that regulates extracellular matrix. Although co-transfection of miR-29a and miR-140 did not show a synergistic effect on MMP13 protein expression and type II collagen release, but both of them can significantly suppress the protein abundance of MMP13 and restore the type II collagen release in IL-$1{\beta}$ treated chondrocytes. Compared with single miRNA transfection, cotransfection of both miRNAs exceedingly abrogated the suppressed the protein production of TIMP1 caused by IL-$1{\beta}$, thereby suggesting potent synergistic action. These results provided1novel insights into the important function of miRNAs' collaboration in OA pathological development. The reduced MMP13, and enhanced TIMP1 protein production and type II collagen release also implies that miR-29a and miR-140 combination treatment may be a possible treatment for OA.

Query Optimization on Large Scale Nested Data with Service Tree and Frequent Trajectory

( Li Wang ),( Guodong Wang ) 한국정보처리학회 2021 Journal of information processing systems Vol.17 No.1

Query applications based on nested data, the most commonly used form of data representation on the web, especially precise query, is becoming more extensively used. MapReduce, a distributed architecture with parallel computing power, provides a good solution for big data processing. However, in practical application, query requests are usually concurrent, which causes bottlenecks in server processing. To solve this problem, this paper first combines a column storage structure and an inverted index to build index for nested data on MapReduce. On this basis, this paper puts forward an optimization strategy which combines query execution service tree and frequent sub-query trajectory to reduce the response time of frequent queries and further improve the efficiency of multi-user concurrent queries on large scale nested data. Experiments show that this method greatly improves the efficiency of nested data query.

Thickness effect on the stability of unipolar resistance switching in tin ferrite thin films

        Guodong Gong,Changjin Wu,Pengfei Hu,Ying Li,Namic Kwon,Chunli Liu 한국물리학회 2016 Current Applied Physics Vol.16 No.9

We report the reproducible unipolar resistance switching behavior in Pt/SnFe2O4/Pt structures. The amorphous SnFe2O4 thin film was spin-coated on the Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate by a sol-gel method. The current-voltage characterization showed that as the spin coating cycles increased, the resistive switching (RS) characteristics became stable, and an excellent RS performance showing uniform set voltage distribution, stable resistance of both low resistance and high resistance states, and narrow reset current distribution can be obtained in SFO films with a thickness about 220 nm. Based on the conducting filament model, the variation of the RS behavior was ascribed to the increase of the electroforming voltage in the thicker films, which consequently induced more oxygen vacancies to participate in the RS process. Our results indicated that the electroforming voltage performs a significant role in the RS properties of the amorphous SnFe2O4 and the optimized RS behavior through the regulation of preparation process can be used for the resistance random access memory applications.
