      • 老年期 女性의 體型別 Slacks 原型 硏究

        This study aims at the new pattern drafting of slacks on the basis of changes in the body types and comfort of elderly women. Therefore, by making the elderly women over 60 years old the subject of this study, it analyzed body types through the body measurement and the silhouettes of photographs, produced the pattern by the measurement of limb surface changes in order to decide the extre space of the pattern draft, and compared the new pattern with conventional patterns through the sensory evaluation. 1. As the result of the physique analysis, the elderly women's body types were largely divided into four types-type A, nealy standard, type B, obesity, type C, S form with a bent back and a protruding abdomen, and type D, a bent waist. 2. As the result of the measurement of changes in the limb surface caused by the limb movement, this study dediced the extra space on the basis of M??, which showed the greatest change. 3. As a result of the pattern drafting and wearing test, by contrast of Rim's pattern, A type has 4-centimeter margin in waist circumference and 4 to 6-centimeter one in hip circumference; has one centimeternarrowed slacks width and back dart and one centimeter-lengthened crotch part, B type, using the standard item of abdominal length, instead of hip circumference and hip length, has 4-centimeter margin in waist circumference and 6 to 8-centimeter one in abdominal circumference;has one centimeter-narrowed slacks width and back dart and one centimeter-lengthened crotch length and slacks lengt), C type has 4-centimeter margin in waist circumference and 4 to 6-centimeter one in hip circumference; has one centimeter-narrowed slacks width and one centimeter-lengthened crotch part, and has one centimeter-lifted front waist height and 2.5-centimeterlowered back waist height, D type has 4-centimeter margin in waist circumference and 4 to 6-centimeter one in hip circumference; has one centimeter-narrowed slacks width and one centimeter-lengthened crotch part, and has 2-centimeter-lowered front waist height and one centimeterlifted back waist height. 4. As a result of the sensory evaluation for appearance, since it showed the significant difference(α<0.01) in more than 12 items in every type, the new pattern proved superior to the conventional patterns. In addition, as a result of the sensory evaluation for comfort, since it showed the significant difference in movements and body parts the new pattern proved also superior to the conventional pattern.

        Erythropoietin Decreases Renal Fibrosis in Mice with Ureteral Obstruction: Role of Inhibiting TGF-β-Induced Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition

        <P>The inhibitory effects of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) were examined against (1) the progression of renal fibrosis in mice with complete unilateral ureteral obstruction and (2) the TGF-beta1-induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in MDCK cells. Unilateral ureteral obstruction was induced in BALB/c mice and rhEPO (100 or 1000 U/kg, intraperitoneally, every other day) or vehicle was administered from day 3 to day 14. Immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry revealed increased expressions of TGF-beta1, alpha-smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA), and fibronectin and decreased expression of E-cadherin in the obstructed kidneys. In contrast, rhEPO treatment significantly attenuated the upregulation of TGF-beta1 and alpha-SMA and the downregulation of E-cadherin. MDCK cells were treated with TGF-beta1 (5 ng/ml) for 48 h to induce EMT, and the cells were then co-treated with TGF-beta1 and rhEPO for another 48 h. Increased expressions of alpha-SMA and vimentin and decreased expressions of zona occludens-1 and E-cadherin were observed after TGF-beta1 treatment, and these changes were markedly attenuated by rhEPO co-treatment. TGF-beta1 increased phosphorylated Smad-2 expression in MDCK cells, which was decreased by rhEPO co-treatment. In conclusion, rhEPO treatment inhibits the progression of renal fibrosis in obstructed kidney and attenuates the TGF-beta1-induced EMT. It is suggested that the renoprotective effects of rhEPO could be mediated, at least partly, by inhibition of TGF-beta1-induced EMT.</P>

        Background: Early diagnosis of TB is crucial for both clinically and epidemiologically. Sputum culture is the gold standard for diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis tuberculosis (TB). The MAC system immobilizes bacteria by using agarose in a microfi uidic culture chamber so that single cell growth can be tracked by microscopy. This study using DAC system for detection of M. tuberculosis isolates from sputum samples. Methods: 74 sputa samples (25 clinical sputa, 49 H37Rv spiking sputa) were included for the diagnosis of TB. All samples were decontaminated using the 4% N-acetyl-Lcysteine (NALC)-NaOH method. Results: In 25 clinical sputa samples, positive rate for Middlebrook 7H11 medium, Ogawa`s medium, and DAC system were determined as 1 (4.0%), 1 (4.0%), and 3 (12.0%), respectively. Negative rate for Middlebrook 7H11 medium, Ogawa`s medium, and DAC system were determined as 23 (92.0%), 23 (92.0%), and 21 (84.0%), respectively. And 1 (4.0%) contamination was observed in all culture methods. In 49 H37Rv spiking sputa samples, time to detection (TTD) was 5 to 13 days in MGIT 960 and 5 to 9 days in DAC system. In a total of 49 H37Rv spiking sputa samples, TTD according to cfu in Middlebrook 7H11 medium was 7 days (5-6 log10 cfu/ml) to 9 days (2-3 log10 cfu/ml) in DAC system. TTD according to cfu in Middlebrook 7H11 medium was 6 days (5-6 log10 cfu/ml) to 12 days (2-3 log10 cfu/ml) in MGIT 960. Conclusions: The DAC system detected the growth of M. tuberculosis more sensitivity than Middlebrook 7H11 and Ogawa`s media. Also, required time for true negative reports in less than 3 weeks. We concluded the DAC culture system is advantageous in terms of turnaround time.

        Inhibitory effect of Panax ginseng and Pleurotus osteratus complex on expression of cytokine genes induced by extract of Dermatophagoides pteronissinus in human monocytic THP-1 and EoL-1 cells

        A recent study reported that Pleurotus ostreatus has the potential to be used as a ${\beta}-glucan-based$ cream for supportive complementary therapy of atopic dermatitis. KH054 is a new herbal prescription consisting of P. ostreatus and Panax ginseng. The effects of atopic dermatitis-induced materials on the expression of cytokine genes in human monocytes (THP-1, EoL- 1) have been examined. Some reports demonstrated that P. ginseng augments the activity of natural killer cells, which plays an important role in innate immunity against infection and tumor development. Monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1), interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-8 have important roles in mediating the infiltration of various cells into the skin of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. The present study investigated whether KH054 on induced IL-6, IL-8, and MCP-1 secretion by house dust mite (Dermatophagoides pteronissinus) in THP-1 (human acute monocytic leukemia) and EoL-1(Human eosinophilic leukemia) cell. D. pteronissinus functions in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases, including atopic dermatitis and asthma. The inhibitory effect of KH054 on the induction of IL-6, IL-8, and MCP-1 secretion by D. pteronissinus extract in THP-1 and EoL-1 cells was examined. KH054 potently suppressed the elevated production of IL-6 and IL-8 induced by D. pteronissinus treatment in THP-1 and EoL-1 cells. Based on the present results, KH054 may be useful for developing functional foods to treat atopic dermatitis.

      • Mixed grain containing giant embryonic brown rice improves postprandial glycaemic response in healthy subjects

        <P>Aim: Mixed grain, which contributes to lowered glycaemic responses, has been shown to be effective in dietary management of patients with impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes. Methods: The present study determined the postprandial blood glucose response of 20 healthy volunteers to mixed grains containing giant embryonic rice (MG-GER) or giant embryonic brown rice (MG-GEBR) compared with white rice (WR) in a randomised crossover design. Plasma glucose and serum insulin at 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes were measured, and glycaemic index (GI) and incremental area under the curve (iAUC) were calculated. Results: The GIs for WR, MG-GER and MG-GEBR were 86.75 5.78, 76.09 +/- 7.01 and 69.33 +/- 6.54, respectively. The 120-minute iAUCs after administration of MG-GER or MG-GEBR were significantly lower than that of WR. In addition, the MG-GEBR diet group had a significantly lower C-peptide concentration at the 120-minute time point when compared to the WR group. Conclusions: These results suggest that consumption of MG-GER or MG-GEBR instead of WR is more effective to reduce postprandial glucose levels without increasing insulin secretion.</P>

        Trans 지방을 첨가한 찹쌀보리빵의 섭취가 건강한 성인의 혈장 지질수준과 지방산 조성에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 서울지역에 거주하는 건강한 성인 남녀(남자 29명, 여자 10명) 39명을 대상으로 trans 지방산 3.75 g을 각각 첨가한 찹쌀보리빵과 밀빵의 섭취가 혈중 지방산 조성과 지질 수준에 미치는 효과를 확인하기 위하여 실시하였다. 시험군은 밀빵 군(19명)과 찹쌀보리빵 군(20명)의 2군으로 분류하였으며 장기(6주) 임상시험으로 시행하였다. 밀빵 군은 밀가루 80 g에 trans 지방산 3.75 g을 첨가한 밀빵을, 찹쌀 보리빵 군은 β-glucan 5%를 함유한 찹쌀보리가루 40 g과 밀가루 40 g에 trans 지방산 3.75 g 첨가하여 찹쌀보리빵을 조제하여 제공하였다. 찹쌀보리빵을 섭취한 군에서는 섭취기간이 증가할수록 C18:3c,n-9 지방산을 제외한 지방산들의 농도가 낮아졌으며 특히 섭취 6주경과 후에서는 C16:0, C18:1t, C18:1c, C18:2t와 C18:2c의 농도는 밀빵을 섭취한 군에 비해 유의적으로 낮은 수준을 보였다. 밀빵을 섭취한 군에서 섭취기간이 증가할수록 C18:1t, C18:2c, C18:2t의 농도는 증가하는 것으로 나타난 반면 C18:0, C18:1c, C18:3c,n-9과 C18:3c,n-3의 농도는 감소하였고 C16:0와 C18:2c의 농도는 증가 후 일정수준을 유지하여 6주경과 후에서는 섭취 전보다 현저하게 높은 수준을 보였다. P/M/S 비를 보면 섭취 4주까지 두 군 모두에서 다가불포화지방산의 비가 증가한 반면 섭취 6주경과 후에서는 다소 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, 단일불포화지방산의 비는 찹쌀보리빵 군에서는 감소하는 추세이나 밀빵 군에서는 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 혈중 trans 지방산을 비롯한 포화지방산 농도가 낮은 수준이었으며 또한 찹쌀보리빵의 섭취는 밀빵의 섭취에 비해 총 콜레스테롤 농도와 TG/HDL-C의 비를 감소시켰다. 이러한 결과는 찹쌀보리에 함유된 β-glucan이 trans 지방의 체내 흡수율을 저하시키거나 흡수속도를 느리게 하기 때문으로 사료된다. 따라서 이상의 결과에서 가공식품으로부터 공급되는 trans 지방의 체내 농도를 저하시키고 혈장 총 콜레스테롤 농도를 개선시키기 위해서는 밀가루 보다는 찹쌀보리를 활용한 형태로 섭취하는 것이 바람직하다고 하겠다. This study investigated the effect of waxy barley on the incorporation trans fat (tFA) into plasma lipid and lipid profile through 6 weeks trial. 39 healthy volunteers were divided into 2 groups and fed waxy barley bread (WBG) or wheat bread (WG) containing equivalent amounts of tFA (elaidic acid rich, 3.75 g/day), respectively. Plasma lipid profiles and fatty acid composition at 0, 2, 4, 6 weeks after a respective bread were studied. Plasma lipid was extracted by the method of Folch, esterified by acid transmethylation and analyzed by gas chromatography. The fatty acid composition reflected the fatty acid proportion of the test fat. However, consumption of waxy barley bread with tFA for 6 weeks affected plasma fatty acid composition including tFA. Incorporation of tFA into plasma lipid was significantly lowered compared to WBG than in WG after 6 weeks of consumption. Furthermore, saturated fatty acids such as C16:0 and C18:0 levels were also significantly lowered in WBG than in WG. Furthermore, plasma total cholesterol level and TG/HDL-cholesterol ratio were also significantly lowered in WBG compared to WG at 2, 4 and 6 weeks. These results suggest that waxy barley bread with high β-glucan lowered plasma trans, saturated fatty acid and total cholesterol levels though the inhibition of lipid absorption.

        담석의 병인에 있어서 담낭수축 기능의 의의에 관한 연구

        N/A Gallstone is the most common disease in the biliary system, and the incidence is increasing gradually. Furthermore, the composition of stones in Korea seems to be changed to approach that of stones formed in the west. Factors responsible for this change may include rapidly pro- ceeding urbanization and changing food habits. The method of medical therapies for gall- stones is also increasing and results in a number of clinical studies for pathogenesis of gall- stones such as stasis, supersaturation, and crystal formation of bile juice. We studied for 40 subjects, healthy controls were 20 (11 male, 9 female: mean age, 44.45 years, mean body mass index, 24.07), and gallstone patients were 20 (1 1 male, 9 female: mean age, 54.7 years, mean body mass index, 22.78). The gallbladder volumes were measured by real time ultrasonography using the ellipsoidal method. And then, we calculated ejection fraction (EF) by these results. The results were expressed as mean + standard deviation, and differ- ence in the mean values of each group were evaluated by the Students t test. Statistical sig- nificance was assigned if P was <0.05. There was no significant difference between gallstone patients and healthy controls in age, body mass index, and biochernical laboratories. Both fasting gallbladder volume and ejection fraction were not different between obese and non obese group. However, ejection fraction in gallstone patients was significantly lower than normal controls in obese group. Ejection frac- tion(EF, %) was significantly greater in controls than gallstone patients. No significant differ- ences were observed in fasting gallbladder volumes between gallstone patients and healthy controls, but gallbladder volume after fatty meal was significantly larger in gallstone patients than control subjects. Fasting gallbladder volumes were significantly reduced after fatty meal in both groups. The gallbladder motility rnay play a role on gallstone formation, and the estimation of its motility may be an important factor in deterrnining the response to medical therapy.(Korean J Gastroenterol 1994; 26: 143 150)
