In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

Operation of a current source inverter is significantly affected by its operating frequency and directing current. At normal operating condition its output current can be assumed, but at high frequency its operation become unstable. In this paper, a model for single phase current source inverter is developed and analysed by digital computer simulation. And that result can be applyed to all operating condition.

In review of he current technical difficulties and weaknesses in producing filters, this investigation presents a method to evaluate metallic fiber filters by utilizing the theory of fluid dynamics. A method for evaluations of the efficiency of filters in estabilished. Also the filter configuration is analyzed and the filter media is characterized. A trial product of pleated type filter is designd and produced. The product has optimal filtering surface area per unit flow rate. Also tests for filtration efficiency and characterizations of the products were conducted.

In this paper, We discuss an algorithm for the recognition of partially visible two-dimensional object in a gray scale image. Our algorithm uses the local shape of contour segments near critical points as the fundamental feature vectors and the database is implemented using an k-d tree structure. Experimental results showing our algorithm's performance are presented.

In this paper we design a resource sharing system which is an loosely coupled heterogeneous multicomputer system with radial bus configuration. It consists of one host processor and more than two terminal processors. The host processor allows the sharing of hardware resourceses, software and data bases among the terminal processors. This system is implemented with Cromenco microcomputer system.

syntactic method is a general tool for pattern recognition but it's not good at distinguishing similar object. In this paper, we use attributed grammar to distinguish long nose plier from diagonal cutter, and good experimental results are obtained.

This year is 100th since Marx died. There have been so many reports that the 100th anniversary of Marx's death was being marked in unforgettable ways. If Marx were to come back, what does he discover? Maybe he discovers that things aren't what he has expected. What is the significance of polish crisis in early 1980s? It has taught the world a lesson that is both stark and undeniable: as a means of organizing an economy and providing for the well-being of a citizenry, Communism is a failure. It is related to the dark future of communism. The causes of polish crisis are two: one is the fall of social status and the consciousness of frustration. The other is the continuous failure of Economic policy and the bankrupty of national Economic life. If we interpretate the two causes on the thread of connection in communist system, the former implies the "equality" idea of communism is falseconsciousness. The latter means the practical limit of communist economic system. Nowaday in Communist Societies, the dream of classless society is not practical. Rather as Millovan Djilas said, new class came in view. He sees the party as the incumbent institution of class rule: The new ownership is not the same as the political government, but is created and aided by that government. The use, enjoyment, and distribution of property is the privilege of the party and the party's top men. We call them Nomenklatura. The alienation of the worker from his work is at least as great today at the plants in communist countries as it was in the Manchester textile mills that Engels studied in the mid-l9th century. The command economy, too is slowing down if not breaking down. No communist country has met the proclaimed goals of its Five-Year plan: The desired results that the economies were organized to achieve have simply failed to materialize. And the projections for the next ten years are even gloomier. So U.S.S.R and Eastern Europe try to reform the economic policy, But those reforms challenge the very essence of the system, which is totalitarianism. It is the dilemma of the communist countries hold. What is the result of Soviet Communist System? The result is a tension and a paradox. On the one hand, inefficiency, stagnation and alienation are theinevitable accompaniments of the centralization, elitism and repression that are necessary to carry out the first order of businss: the preservation of power. On the other hand, the political system is well designed to be impervious to the consequences of the economic failure and social demoralization that are built into it.

생체분해성 안과제형의 안구내흡수정도와 안독성

An improved retinal tack can be used to fix the retina in complicated retinal detachment and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We used the retinal tack made by biodegradable polyglycolic acid, polylactic acid and copolymers. The tacks with polyglycolic acid were placed in the retina the right eyes of 10 rabbits as group 1, with polylactic-polyglycolic acid copolymers as group 2 in each left eyes. We examined the absorption rates and degree of intraocular inflammation at 1 day, 1, 2, 4, and 8 weeks and compared both eyes. The tacks were absorbed with time in both eyes, but more rapid in copolymers. And there was no inflammation in both eyes. Now, this study will be a base on the drug delivery system in intraocular pharmacological and surgical management.

일부 농촌지역 학동의 B형 간염 감염률에 대한 조사 연구

The positive rate of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in Korea reported to be ranging from five to eleven per cent by the age composition, residential area of the group examined and by the method of study. As for the children, the positive rates reported were 4.5% (Kwon et al, 1977; of the pediatric patients hospitalized due to illnesses other than hepatic diseases), 4.2%, 4.8% (Hong et al, 1979 and Heon et al, 1983), 5.8% in farm villages and 2.9% in urban area (Kim et al, 1986). To grasp the rate and nature of hepatitis B virus infection in rural area of this country, authors examined 474 children in two elementary school and one middle school located in relatively isolated, remote agricultural district of the HBsAg and anti-HBs positive rates. The summary is as follows: 1. The overall positive rates of HBsAg and anti-HBs were 5.9% and 9.7% respectively. 2. While the positive rate of HBsAg didn't show the tendency to increase with age, that of anti-Hbsdid. 3. In age group below 14, the HBsAg positive rate was higheringirls than in boys but in 15 to 17 age group, the higher positive rate was noted among boys. Anti-HBs positive rate was higher in males throughout all age groups. 4. Since remarkably higher positive rates (both HBsAg and anti-HBs) were observed in certain villages, school or even in specific classes, one could conjecture that the source of infection was in those specific community and transmitted through close bodily contact between the children in, to and from the school.

비기능성 부신피질암 1례

비기능성 부신피질암은 발생 빈도가 극히 드문 악성 종양이며, 내분비학적 임상증상이 없어 주로 복부 종물에 의해 우연히 발견된다. 그래서 대부분 종양의 크기가 거대하고 전이로 진행된 경우가 흔하며, 절제술만으로는 치유 불가능한 경우가 많아 예후가 불량한다. 최근 저자들은 약 10년간 간헐적인 좌측 측복통과 흉부 압박감으로 내원하여, 이학적 검사 및 방사선학적 검사상 복부 종물이 확인되고 생화학적 검사에서 비기능성으로 판명된 52세 남자 환자에서 근치적 신절제술을 시행하여 병리조직검사상 비기능성 부신피질암으로 진단되었기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Nonfunctioning adrenocortical carcinoma is extremely rare, which is diagnosed most often in older man because of mass effect. Most tumors are discovered too late for curative resection, and advanced tumors are associated with a poor prognosis. Herein we report on a 52-year-old man with nonfunctioning adrenocortical carcinoma, treated by radical nephrectomy.
