      • 서울의 PPNG 발생 빈도(1991-1992)

        The prevalence of PPNG among pretreated gonorrhea cases isolated at the STD clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul has been studied and reported annually since 1981. In 1991, 123 strains of N.gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 58(47.1%) were PPNG. In 1992, 98 starains of N.gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 51(52.0%) were PPNG. In all, 109(49.3%) strains were found to be PPNG among 221 strains isolated between 1991-1992. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul showed increased tendency till 1989, thereafter, it has been stationary or slightly decreasing.

      • 급성 충수염으로 진단된 예측 불가 염증성 맹장 종물에 대한 외과적 고찰

        Purpose: An unexpected inflammatory cecal mass of uncertain etiology was encountered during surgery for presumed appendicitis. In this case, the surgeon couldn't exclude differential diagnosis which were severe appendicitis involving the cecal region, diverticular disease, other inflammatory bowel diseases, and neoplasm. Therefore, this finding leads to a therapeutic dilemma for the surgeon, when making surgical decisions during the operation. The aim of this study was to resolve this dilemma, a retrospective review was undertaken in this study. Methods: A retrospective study was performed to review the management of this problem at Soonchunhyang University Chunan Hospital for eight and half years from July 1991 to December 1999. A review of the emergency operation records identified 50 patients who had undergone ileocecal resection or right hemicolectomy for an inflammatory ileocecal mass of uncertain etiology when operated on for probable appendicitis. Results: Altogether, 39 patients underwent ileocecal resection, and 11 patients underwent right hemicolectomy. The final pathologic diagnosis was appendiceal abscess in 32 patients (63%), cecal diverticulitis in 7 patients (14%), neoplasm in 6 patients (12%), appendiceal phlegmon in 3 patients (6%), ileal tuberculosis in 1 patient (2%) and Anisakiasis in another patient (2%). The neoplasm of the 6 neoplasm patients was ascending colon cancer for 4 patients and cecal cancer for 2 patients. There was no mortality in this group. Conclusion: Although most inflammatory cecal masses are caused by benign disease, all cases in which the intraoperative diagnosis is unclear, any pathologic diagnosis including neoplasm cannot be ruled out. So this suggest ileocecal resection or right hemicolectomy to remove a possible underlying malignancy, and to decrease morbidity and mortality.

      • 肝吸蟲에 대한 Albendazole의 殺蟲效果에 관한 實驗的 硏究

        Newly developed albendazole(zentel®) is a broad spectrum anthelmintic which high activity against intestinal nematodas as well as trematodes and cesstodes infections. The present study was undertaken to evaluato in vitro and in vivo activities of albendazoles against adult worms of clonorchis sinensis. The morphological change of C. sinensis obtained from experimentally infected rats treated with various dosages of albendazole were studied by means of scaning and transmission electron microscope. The results are as follows: 1. The adult worms of C. sinensis were incubated in the medium containing albendazole with various concentrations. By 24 hours after incubation, none of the worms were dead in concentrations of 0.01μg/ml of albendazole. 2. In order to evaluate the effect of albendazole in vivo, experimentally infected rats with 50 metacencariae of C. sinensis each were treated orally with various dosages of albendazole. In the result, anthelmintic effect was confirmed at the dosage of albendazole with 2×25㎎/㎏×2 days (total amounts 100㎎/㎏). 3. Macrocopital examination was to the clonorchis worms which were collected from the bile ducts of the rats autopsied at 24 hours after treatment with albendazole. The lack of intestinal contents was observed in most of worms from the groups treated with 1×200 ㎎/㎏ and 2×25 ㎎/㎏×2 or 4 days, and the elongation of the anterior portion of the worm body was also observed n the worms from the groups treated with 2×25 ㎎/㎏×2 or 4 days. 4. In the scanning electron microscopic observation, many blebs were fromed on the surface of the damaged tegument of the worms at 24 huors after treatment with albendazole(1×200 ㎎/㎏ and 2×25 ㎎/㎏×2 or days). 5. The transmissions electron microscopic observation indicated that degeneration of mitochonriae and destruction of tegumental syncytium of the worms at 24 hours after treatment with albendazole(1×200 ㎎/㎏ and 2×25㎎/㎏ or 4 days). Inaddition to the findings the degeneration of the intestinal lamellae in the caeca was also observed in the worms from the groups treated with same dosages of albendazole.

      • 초산류프롤리드 투여에 의한 흰주의 혈중 testosterone 억제와 뇌 시상하부에서 c-Fos의 발현

        Leuprolide acetate is a potent luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogue [leuprorelin, (des-GlylO-D-Leu6-Pro-NHEt9)-LHRH acetate]. Lorelin depot, which is composed of leuprolide acetate, was designed for one-month release injectable and biodegradable microsphere of multiple high doses. Here we compared the efficacy of microsphere lorelin depot with that of Takeda microsphere (Lucrin Depot). Lorelin (leuprolide 3.75 mg/kg of body weight) was administered s.c. to male rats, and the serum was obtained from rat tail vein. Enzyme immunoassay ( ELA ) for testosterone was carried out to assess the effect of lorelin depot. The rats were sacrificed 42 days after the lorelin β injection, and c-Fos changes of brain were observed by indirect immunofluorescence method. Results showed that the testosterone secretion was inhibited and the expression of c-Fos was also inhibited in the brain.

      • 중추에서 Prostaglandin계가 Renin-angiotensin System에 미치는 영향

        Role of prostaglandins on the renin-angiotensin system in the central nervous system was examined in normotensive and 2-kidney, 1 clip (2K1C) hypertensive rats. The experiment was done under thiopental (50 ㎎/㎏, IP) anesthesia. Captopril and indomethacin were injected into the right lateral cerebral ventricle. Arterial blood pressure and heart rate were recorded from the femoral artery. Intracerebroventricular (ICV) captopril (1 ㎎) caused a decrease in mean arterial pressure in both normotensive and 2K1C hypertensive rats. The depressor response to captopril was more sensitive in hyper-tensive rats than in normotensive rats. Indomethacin treatment (ICV, 200 ㎎) altered the depressor response to captopril neither in normotensive nor in hypertensive rats. These results suggest that the cardiovascular effect of renin-angiotensin system in the central nervous system may not be mediated via prostaglandin systems in normotensive and 2KlC hypertensive rats.

      • 이종 장기 이식을 위한 다단계 거부 반응의 조절

        The transplantation of organ, tissues or cells between individuals of different species has been of increasing interest in recent years because the use of animals as organ and tissue donors as a source of transplants would overcome the severe and worsening shortage of human organs available for transplantation. However, There are some major hurdles to the clinical application of xenotransplantation; the immunologic response of the recipient against donor, the physiology of the graft, and the possibility that a xenotransplant might transmit an infection from the source to the recipient. This review describes the unique aspects of the immunological barrier to transplanting organs from non-primates such as pigs into humans, focusing especially on the mechanisms which contribute to immunorecognition, physiology of the rejection and infectious hurdles to xenotransplantation. This communication might be applied to overcoming these hurdles and the possibility that genetic strategies might be used to expand the potential applications of xenotransplantation for the treatment of human disease.

        현재 의료진단, 화학공정의 모니터링이나 환경공학적 감시 및 제어 등의 분야에서 사용되고 있는 기존의 센서는 고가이며 용적이 클 뿐만 아니라 분석시간이 길고 사용하기 까다로운 것 등 여러 가지 문제점이 있다. 또한 측정환경에 영향을 주지 않을 만큼 충분히 작으며 빠른 분석시간을 가진 센서를 필요로 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 센서들의 난점을 극복할 수 있는 새로운 형태의 FET형 전해질(electrolyte : H^+, K^+, Ca^2+, Na^+)분석 시스템, 용존가스(O_2, CO_2)분석 시스템의 개발을 중점적으로 추진하며, FET형 압력센서, 습도센서, 방사형 온도센서 등의 개별 FET형 센서에 관한 연구도 병행하고자 한다. Recently various kinds of sensors have been developed, being applicated to their own purpose. There are lots of difficulties to apply them to measurements in which the real-time monitoring is required without disturbing the surrounding environment. FET type semiconductor sensors, fabricated by the semiconductor integration technologies, have many advantages for their miniaturization, standardization, mass-production and in vivo/in situ monitoring. They also hold a very proper configuration for multi-functional sensors or integrated smart sensors, and wide availability by forming various kinds of physical or chemical sensing materials onto their sensing gates.
