Characteristics of Korean ginseng varieties of Gumpoong, Sunun, Sunpoong, Sunone, Cheongsun, and Sunhyang

Background: Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) is an important medicinal herbs in Asia. However, ginsengvarieties are less developed. Method: To developed ginseng varieties, a pure line selection method was applied in this study. Results: Gumpoong was testing of 4-yr-old specimens in 2002, the proportions of the below-groundroots that were rusty colored for Gumpoong was 1.29 in Daejeon and 1.45 in Eumseong, whereas theproportions for its yellow berry variant were 2.60 and 2.45 in the two regions, respectively. Thus theGumpoong was resistant to root rust. Sunpoong has a high yielding property. Its average root weight is70.6 g for 6-yr-old roots. Its yield is 2.9 kg/1.62m2 and the rate of heaven- and earth-grade product is20.9%, which is very high compared to 9.4% for Yunpoong. Sunone is resistance to root rot and thesurvival rate of 4-yr-old roots was 44.4% in 1997, whereas that of the violet-stem variant landrace was21.7%. Sunhyang has content of arginyl-fructosyl-glucose (AFG), which produces the unique scent of redginseng, is 95.1 mmol/g and greater than the 30.8 mmol/g of Chunpoong in 6-yr-old plants. Sunun andCheongsun are being nurtured to protect genetic resources. Conclusion: Developed ginsneg varieties will be used as the basis for the protection of genetic resourcesand breeding. Jang-Ho Lee

The purpose of this study is to analyse test form for fitness evaluation and to get the adapted model for the 5th grade in elementary school. The subject are 2607 students (M;1431, W;1176) in the 5th grade and 598 students (M;362, W;236) in 6th grade in the elementary school, randomly chosen samples. The test items are conducted for the experiment, 100m Running, Pull up, Broad Jump, Sit up, Throwing and test method is used to the fitness evaluations charter for elementary school. t-test and Z-score(range; -3 deviation and +3 deviation) are used for showing the improved model sheets. The conclusion is made as follows; 1. There is a significant mean difference between 5th and 6th grade, and between male and female. 2. The pull up is exchanged a new model for measurement in fitness. 3. 지반이 다소 연약하여 건물 기초를 말뚝으로 보강된 연속줄기초로 설계할 경우, 탄성지반을 무시하고, 말뚝을 탄성지점으로 한 연속보로 처리하는 것이 보통이다. 그러나 실제 기초에서는 지반반력과 말뚝반력을 모두 무시할 수 없는 경우가 많다. 본 논문은 지반반력과 말뚝반력을 동시에 고려하고 n경간의 탄성지점을 가지는 탄성지반상의 보에 대한 해석을 반무한장보와 유한장보로 구분하여 계시하고, 하중 재하위치에 따라 반무한장보 및 유한장보로 해석해야 할 범위를 제시하였다 In this paper, the method of analysis for the girder supported with piles on the elastic soilmedium is proposed. The girder supports with piles on the elastic soil medium is often used as those of crane rail at a ship yard. For the purpose of practical design, these girders were often regarded as continuous beams elastically supported with piles. Actually, the method of ana1ysis for these girders should be considered as analysis of girder supported with piles on the elastic soil medium. From the proposed method, we can calculate bending moment and shearing force of these girders, after obtaining the reaction of piles by calculating the deflection of pile support point due to external load and pile reaction.

The purpose of this study was to examine the perception and preference of skiers in a bid to provide ski resorts with useful information about successful positioning strategy. The subjects in this study were 9,722 skiers who purchased season tickets from N web site that sold ski season tickets. Their online purchasing route and page view were analyzed to find out what factors affected their purchase of ski season tickets. The findings of this study were as follows: First, 78 percent of the people investigated were make, and 22 percent were female. By age, the largest group was in their 20s(5,344 skiers), followed by those in their 30s(3,434), those in their 40s(631) and teenagers(229). Second, their page view rate with Yangji recorded highest with 24%, followed by Sungwoo Resort with 23% and Chonmasan with 13 percent. Third, by geographic area, the skiers from southern Gyeonggi province bought the largest number of tickets for the 2002/2003 season, followed by Gangweon province residents and northem Gyeonggi province dwellers. In the case of the 2003/2004 season, those from Gangweon provinece pruchased the most tickets, followed by southern Gyeonggi province dwellers and north Gyeonggi province residents.

The propose of this study is to present the possible solutions for the shortage of skilled labor in Korean construction industry that is currently encountered. This study examined employment trends in construction industry in Korea and U.S.A. The construction industry is highly influenced by economic cycle. The aging of the crafts and shortage of workers are pressing issue in this industry. In order to solve this problem, The construction industry must lead women labor to enter the their industry with appropriate education. This answer to the shortage is to retain those workers currently worked in other industry and to streamline construction practices to reduce labor strain.

Comparison between the Flexiblade Laryngoscope and the Macintosh Blade Laryngoscope in Endortracheal Indubation Sun-Young Jand, M.D., Sang-Kyi Lee, M.D., and Jun-Rae Lee, M.D. Department of Anesthesiology, Chonbuk National University Medical School, Jeonju, Korea Background: The Flexiblade laryngoscope has a unique structure that is composed of a blade and a handle with a trigger. When the trigger of the Flexiblade laryngoscope is squeezed, the hyoepiglottic ligament is depressed, the epiglottis is moved anteriorly, and then the laryngoscopic grade is improved. This study was designed to compare the Flexiblade laryngoscope with the conventional Machintosh blade laryngoscope in the laryngoscopic view in endotracheal intubation. Methods: Following induction of general anesthesia, the laryngoscopic grades of 110 patients were evaluated while five different blade positions of the Flexiblade laryngoscope and a laryngoscopy with the Macintosh blade were performed. The laryngoscopic grades which were described by Cormack and Lehane were classified from 1 to 4. Results: With the Macintosh blade laryngoscope, 98.2% of the patients were grade one and two, and 98.2% of the patients was laryngoscopic grade one and two with partial depression of the trigger of the Flexiblade laryngoscope. The laryngoscopic grade of maximal depression of the Flexiblade trigger had similar results to partial depression of the trigger. However, the partial depression of the Flexiblade laryngoscope showed better laryngoscopic views than the maximal depression of the Flexiblade laryngoscope or the Macintosh blade laryngoscope, respectively. In the overall success rate of endo-tracheal intubation and using the adjusting maneuvers, the Flexiblade laryngoscope was superior to the Macintosh blade laryngoscope. Conclusions: The Flexiblade laryngoscope is comparable to the Macintosh blade laryngoscope for endotracheal intubation, therefore, the Flexiblade laryngoscope can be recommended as the first choice for endotracheal intubation.
