        PLZF+ Innate T Cells Support the TGF-beta-Dependent Generation of Activated/Memory-Like Regulatory T Cells

        PLZF-expressing invariant natural killer T cells and CD4 T cells are unique subsets of innate T cells. Both are selected via thymocyte-thymocyte interaction, and they contribute to the generation of activated/memory-like CD4 and CD8 T cells in the thymus via the production of IL-4. Here, we investigated whether PLZF+ innate T cells also affect the development and function of Foxp3+ regulatory CD4 T cells. Flow cytometry analysis of the thymus and spleen from both CIITA transgenic C57BL/6 and wild-type BALB/c mice, which have abundant PLZF+ CD4 T cells and invariant natural killer T cells, respectively, revealed that Foxp3+ T cells in these mice exhibited a CD103+ activated/memory-like phenotype. The frequency of CD103+ regulatory T cells was considerably decreased in PLZF+ cell-deficient CII-TATgPlzflu/lu and BALB/c.CD1d−/− mice as well as in an IL-4-deficient background, such as in CIITATgIL-4−/− and BALB/ c.IL-4−/− mice, indicating that the acquisition of an activated/memory-like phenotype was dependent on PLZF+ innate T cells and IL-4. Using fetal thymic organ culture, we further demonstrated that IL-4 in concert with TGF- enhanced the acquisition of the activated/memory-like phenotype of regulatory T cells. In functional aspects, the activated/memory-like phenotype of Treg cells was directly related to their suppressive function; regulatory T cells of CIITATgPIV-/- mice more efficiently suppressed ovalbumin-induced allergic airway inflammation compared with their counterparts from wild-type mice. All of these findings suggest that PLZF+ innate T cells also augmented the generation of activated/memory-like regulation via IL-4 production.

      • 有機色素(Pyronine G)의 Metachromasy에 關한 鹽效果의 吸收分光學的 硏究

        The metachromatic behavior of organic dye(pyronine G) in the presence of various salt was investigated by means of absorption spectroscopy. The salts examined for the addition effect were LiCl, NaCl, KCl, NH_4Cl and (CH_3)_4 NCl. A remarkable increase in pyronine G aggregation with on increase in the salts concentration was observed. This phenomenon has been explained by the activity of counter ions from the salts which presumably reduce the repulsive force between the cationic dye molecules. But in this study the degree of aggregation differed with addition of various salts and this Is ascribed not only to the contribution of counter ions but aIso to the cations from the salt. The different changes in pyronine G aggregation are also discussed in term of the effect of the structure of water.

        The purpose of this study is to find out the effect group jogging(the 600-meter run)on the improvement of student's health when it is applied to them. Students would jog 5-7 minutes out of 50 minutes in physical education class as a warming-up exercise in introduction stage. The third class of the second grade was chose as an experimental class, the fourth class or the second grade as a comparative class. The study shows that group jogging not only makes students pay good attention to the warming-up exercise and their physical fitness but also improves students' bodily powers, such as muscular staying power, whole body staying power and agility.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the contents and standards of Information Literacy or Information Technology Literacy current trend in America, and to give some suggestions for the preparation of prospective teachers in Korea. Although the concept Information Literacy seemed to be coined in the late 1970's, the term became more popular in the 1990's. Both Technology Literacy and Information Literacy are in popular to use. The Technology in Technology Literacy connotes Educational Technology, meaning familiarity and proficiency in use of technological systems, software, and information. For the contents and standards of Information or Technology Literacy, ISTE(International Society for Technology in Education) issued two national standards in this area: one for students, and the other for teachers. However, these standards, despite their extensive influence on leaders of schools and libraries, did not hint any level of mastery in specific system, application, and behaviors. So there remains need for the investigation of both students and teachers required mastery levels for graduation or certification.

The confluence of information and telecommunications technologies is creating explosive changes in the various of industries. Since some major industries in information and telecommunication areas have boosted up the national economic growth, it is needed to identify such industries being supported for improving competitiveness. In this paper, we consider an evaluation model to identify some major industries in information and telecommunication areas by using DEA. Applying the model, we can obtain the relative efficiency, we can select several major industries among alternative ones for improving their competitiveness by some effective strategies. Recent advances in information technologies have paved the way for an explosive growth in the area of information and telecommunication industries. Since some major industries in information and telecommunication areas have boosted up the national economic growth, it is needed to identify such industries being supported for improving competitiveness. In this paper, we consider an evaluation model to identify some major industries in information and telecommunication areas by using DEA. Applying the model, we can obtain the relative efficiency of each one among alternative from the relative efficiency, we can select several major industries among alternative ones for improving their competitiveness by some effective strategies.

      • 폐경 후 여성에서 체성분과 골밀도와의 관계

        Background: Body weight is an important factor that influence the bone density in postmenopausal women except estrogen dificiency. However, different results are reported about the relationship between body composition and bone density in the postmenopausal women. We have studied the relationship between age, body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist hip ratio (WHR), muscle mass, fat mass, fat free mass and bone density. Materials and Methods: We have studied 127 persons of postmenopausal women who visited university medical center and examined the inbody 3.0 and Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) from Jan, 2001 to Jun, 2002. they didn't have any disease and didn't received homone therapy, osteoprosis therapy or other medication that influence the bone density. Results: The numbers of study subjects is total 127 persons. Mean age is 56.9±5.14, mean weight is 59.3±8.7 kg, mean BMI is 25.37±3.16 (kg/㎡), mean fat mass is 20.02±5.05 kg, mean muscle mass is 37.49±4.50 kg, mean fat free mass is 39.80±4.70, mean BMD is 0.828±0.148 (g/㎠). In the result of linear regression analysis, age, height, weight, muscle mass, fat free mass, fat mass, BMI are significant determinants of BMD. In stepwise multiple regression analysis, age is the most significant determinant of BMD and besides age, fat mass is the most significant determinant of BMD among body composition. Conclusion: In postmenopausal women, age, height, weight, BMI, muscle mass, fat free mass, fat mass are significant determinants of BMD and besides age, fat free mass is the most significant determinant of BMD among the body composition. So, diet and exercise that increase fat free mass will contribute to bone density increment.

        석탄회를 이용한 제올라이트의 합성과 중금속 흡착 특성

        석탄회를 이용, 중금속 제거용 흡착제 제조를 목적으로 NaOH를 반응물로 한 수열합성 반응으로 제올라이트를 합성하였으며, 이에 대한 성능특성 및 중금속 흡착실험을 수행하였다. SiO₂와 Al₂O₃를 주성분으로 한 석탄회를 NaOH에 의한 수열합성 반응으로 폐수 중에 포함되어 있는 중금속에 대한 제거능력이 높은 제올라이트를 합성하고자 하였다. 따라서 NaOH 농도, 시간을 변화시키면서 제올라이트를 합성하여 실험한 결과 4 M-NaOH, 4시간에서 최적의 조업조건을 얻을 수 있었다. 산에 의한 전처리 과정을 거친 합성 제올라이트는 pH 7-9.5로 중성을 나타내었다. 또한 산처리 합성 제올라이트를 이용하여 중금속인 P, Pb, Cd, Cr, Mn등의 흡착능을 비교한 결과 P, Pb, Cd 등은 비교적 흡착능이 우수하게 나타났지만 Cr과 Mn 등은 pH가 너무 높기 때문에 거의 흡착이 이루어지지 않았다. Zeolite was synthesized from coal fly ash produced by a domestic power plant and has applications in the removal of heavy metal from waste water. Zeolite was synthesized using a hydrothermal method involving an alkaline reaction with NaOH. The NaOH concentration and reaction times were varied in order to synthesize zeolite showing the maximum removal efficiency of heavy metal from waste water. The synthesis conditions were optimized at the concentration of 4M-NaOH and the reaction time of 4hn. The synthesized zeolite needed washing with HCI solution to improve the removal efficiency of P, Pb. Cd. Cr. Mn and it was maximized at pH 7-9.5 in leaching solution of synthesized zeolite.
