In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

To identify subspecies and stocks of minke whale meats purchased from Korean markets during 2005-2007, we first obtained their complete sequences of mitochondrial DNA cytochrome b and control region sequences, and compared these sequences to the corresponding sequences of the common minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata), obtained from GenBank. From analyses with partial cytochrome b sequences (383 bp) and non-coding, partial control region sequences (463 bp), Korean mink whale meats are identified as products from the North Pacific minke whale (B. a. scammoni). In addition, the sequences of the partial control region from these meats showed G at site no. 298 and G or A at site no. 463, and the meats appeared to originate from the J stock within this subspecies. Thus, because the J stock has been protected since 1986, implementation of strict regulation measures to reduce their accidental fisheries by catch seems urgent. In addition, B. a. scammoni is distinct from B. a. acutorostrata, with an average Jukes-Cantor distance of 2.21% in the complete control region sequence analysis (935 bp) and 1.31% in the complete cytochrome b gene sequence analysis; the current results support the current subspecies classification, although further sequencing analyses with nuclear genes are necessary.

본 연구에서는 넓은 지역에 분산된 지상망들을 위성체를 통해 상호 연결하여 형성되는 SWAN(Satellite Wide Area Network) 근간망(Backbone Network)으로서의 패킷위성망에서 위성채널에 대한 요구할당 다중접근방식을 설계한다. 본 연구에서는 전송프레임에 대한 예약과 데이타전송이 순차적으로 반복되는 기존의 다중접근방식에서의 채널효율 저하와 지연특성 불안정성을 개선하기 위해 위성채널 구조에서 예약 채널과 데이타전송 채널을 논리적으로 분리하여 서로 독립적으로 운영되도록 구성하고, 그 위에서 요구할당 다중접근 알고리즘을 설계했다. 이것은 예약과 데이타 전송을 각각 서로에 대해 독립적으로 수행하게 하고, 데이타전송 채널에서의 프레임 구조를 제거하여 예약을 슬롯단위로 수행함으로써 일정한 수준의-즉 예약 채널 용량-고정적인 대역폭 낭비를 감수하면서 데이타 전송 채널의 효율을 극대화시키고, 각 지구국에서의 트래픽 변동을 보다 효과적으로 수용하며, 안정된 전송지연 특성과 공평성을 획득함으로써 시스템의 전체적인 성능을 향상시키는데 목적이 있다.
Frequency tunable vibration and shock isolator using shape memory alloy wire actuator

<P>Launch vehicles and satellites experience severe dynamic loads during flight phases. In particular, pyroshock generated from several separation events could result in malfunctions in the electric components in the launch vehicles. Shock isolators are generally applied in order to attenuate these severe shock environments; however, these isolators could amplify the low-frequency vibration generated by the engine thrust and aerodynamic loads and reduce the payload stability. When the natural frequency of the isolator is increased in order to avoid the low-frequency vibration amplification, sufficient shock attenuation could not be obtained. Thus, the isolators used in launch vehicles need to be designed with trade-offs between the low-frequency vibration amplification and the pyroshock attenuation. This article presents a novel frequency tuning method for the isolator in order to achieve both shock attenuation performance and avoidance of the vibration amplification. Compressed mesh washer isolators using the pseudoelasticity of shape memory alloy were adopted for easier attainment of the frequency tuning with a high performance in the shock attenuation.</P>
