<P>Oxidative stress-induced apoptosis is associated with neuronal cell death and ischemia. The NOL3 [nucleolar protein 3 (apoptosis repressor with CARD domain)] protein protects against oxidative stress-induced cell death. However, the protective mechanism responsible for this effect as well as the effects of NOL3 against oxidative stress in ischemia remain unclear. Thus, we examined the protective effects of NOL3 protein on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced oxidative stress and the mechanism responsible for these effects in hippocampal neuronal HT22 cells and in an animal model of forebrain ischemia using Tat-fused NOL3 protein (Tat-NOL3). Purified Tat-NOL3 protein transduced into the H2O2-exposed HT22 cells and inhibited the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), DNA fragmentation and reduced mitochondrial membrane potential (Delta(Psi m)). In addition, Tat-NOL3 prevented neuronal cell death through the regulation of apoptotic signaling pathways including Bax, Bcl-2, caspase-2, -3 and -8, PARP and p53. In addition, Tat-NOL3 protein transduced into the animal brains and significantly protected against neuronal cell death in the CA1 region of the hippocampus by regulating the activation of microglia and astrocytes. Taken together, these findings demonstrate that Tat-NOL3 protein protects against oxidative stress-induced neuronal cell death by regulating oxidative stress and by acting as an anti-apoptotic protein. Thus, we suggest that Tat-NOL3 represents a potential therapeutic agent for protection against ischemic brain injury.</P>
A Study on Development of Phase Array Coil for MRI of Mouse in the 3.0 T High Magnetic Field

<P>In this study, we manufactured an animal-dedicated radio frequency (RF) coil with a small diameter and multiple channels that could improve both image uniformity and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Quality of images from the manufactured coil was assessed compared to the loop coil used primarily for animal experiments and that had the same diameter. For our experiments, we used Balb/C nude mice that are most commonly used, and 3.0 T systems. The mouse body coil was a receive-only (Rx-only) coil with four channels. The coil had a diameter of 40 mm, length of 100 mm, and an overlapped distance between channels of 4 mm. A dual echo steady state (DESS) 2D pulse sequence, the type most frequently used for animal experiments, was applied. To evaluate the SNR of the coil cylinder that had a different number of channels, we used the loop coil typically designated for human use and the manufactured coil specific for animal use to obtain and compare phantom and mouse images. According to the results the image analysis, image uniformity and SNR were high for the image obtained from the animal-specific coil that had many channels. In conclusion, our experiment demonstrated that a 3.0 T phase array coil with multiple channels designed for animal use only produced images with excellent uniformity and SNR.</P>
산제 조제 업무의 효율성 및 산제의 안정성 확보를 위한 개선방안

Abstract: A medication is designed to act effectively, and it is crucial to administrate a original dosage form so as to maintain the stability of compound and to bring adequate effects. However, it is happening to break into powder in terms of patient's age and difficulty in swallowing. Therefore, among the oral dosage medications, we should categorize into “The group of prohibit-ing crushing” and “The group of permitting crushing, with wary”. In addition, by providing these information to the prescribers and placing on records, we try to guarantee the efficacy, stability, as well as safety. From 16th of June in 2008 to 20th of June in 2008(5days), all prescriptions were compiled and analyzed. According to the data, we realized that “The group of prohibiting crush-ing” had been prescribed to crush although they could not crush. That it, useless and impractical system laid a burden on both prescribers and pharmacists. Moreover, by means of distinctive standard, the accuracy of double-checking system was also deteriorated. Therefore, new com-puterized program is made. Owing to this program which is restricted to prescribe “The group of prohibiting crushing” to crush, consistent checkup for compounding medication turn into possible Accordingly, through this program, a patient can not only be administrated appropriately, but the pharmacist also behave more coherently. However, in order to administrate more delicately and to establishing better compounding circumstance, further investigation will be required.

Resveratrol, which is both a phytoalexin with antifungal activity and a phytochemical associated with reduced cancer risk and reduced cardiovascular disease, is synthesized in a limited number of plant species including peanut. Resveratrol synthesis is catalyzed by the enzyme stilbene synthase including resveratrol synthase (RS). Resveratrol synthase gene (RS3) obtained from peanut, Arachis hypogaea, Fabaceae has been transferred into chinese foxglove, Rehmannia glutinosa by using Agrobacterium mediated transformation. RS t-DNA introduced to chinese foxglove (R. glutinosa L) by transformation and its reaction product, resveratrol-3-O-β-D-glucoside was isolated and characterized using HPLC. Also its biological effects was tested in inhibition of the lipid peroxidation of mouse LDL by glycosylated stilbenes derivatives obtained from transgenic plants. Resveratrol-3-O-β-D-glucoside isolated from transgenic R. glutinosa L. showed antimicrobial activity of the growth inhibition zone against Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium. Therefore, this compound can be contributed to be useful as a phytoalexin for plant health as well as a phytochemical for human health.

With the development of the electronics industry and widespread supply of many different electrical appliances, the factors of the electrical fires are also diversified. For this reason, the fuse, safety-critical component, needs accurate and stable operating characteristics for preventing various fire factor, and also needs various operating characteristics. Especially when the all electrical resistance are dropped by internal short of circuit, high current inrushes and makes the fire. In order to prevent this, very fast acting fuses should be applied. However, existing very fast acting characteristics fuse has less wire dimension of element Ag100% metal than that of fast acting fuse, and it is made of plating with low melting point metals, so it satisfy very fast acting but it can`t satisfy durability and safety. For this reason, in this study, through the analyzing fusing characteristics of Ag-Cu alloy composition, the new alloy composition, which implement to very fast acting fuse without decrease of fuse elements dimension, is suggested. And this study classify the operating characteristics changes, a resistance change, and the rated current of the fuse in the overall composition change of Ag-Cu alloying. and it can be utilized for designing fuse.

The objectives of this study were to establish the genetic transformation system of stilbene synthase in Rehmannia glutinosa. Resveratrol, which is both a phytoalexin with antifungal activity and a phytochemical associated with reduced cancer risk and reduced cardiovascular disease, is synthesized in a limited number of plant species including peanut. Resveratrol synthesis is catalyzed by the enzyme stilbene synthase including resveratrol synthase (RS). Stilbene synthase gene (RS3) obtained from peanut, Arachis hypogaea, Fabaceae has been transferred into chinese foxglove, Rehmannia glutinosa by using Agrobacterium mediated transformation. PCR analysis with RS3 primer confirmed that the targeted gene was introduced into the plant genome, 904 bp in size. Further analyses of identification of transformation using developed other molecular techniques and transgenic plants that RS t-DNA introduced to chinese foxglove (R. glutinosa L) and its reaction product, stilbene such as resveratrol will be isolate and characterize using NMR, MS, and HPLC.

In recent years, The electronic and energy industries demand low power consumption and high efficiency, so under their demands, the white goods industries which are represented for refrigerator and air conditioner system be implemented energy-saving power suppling structure with inverter control system. As inverter control system is different from step control type, when switching system is optimizing temperature control during short period, the inrush plus current can be flown in the circuit. In despite of these characteristics, there is no fuse which can be applied to this type until now. For this reason, we suggest the method of manufacturing protector in the high efficient inverter control system using the alumina-based ceramic radiated heat characteristics and metal films laminated plating. And through the evaluating electrical characteristics, we make a possible to utilize the method when designing overall fuses.
The RstB Sensor Acts on the PhoQ Sensor to Control Expression of PhoP-Regulated Genes

The PhoP response regulator and PhoQ sensor, which are encoded by the phoPQ operon, constitute the PhoP/PhoQ two-component system. Genome-wide transcription analysis revealed that heterologous expression of the RstB protein, a sensor of the RstA/RstB two-component system, leads to enhanced transcription of PhoP-activated genes in wild-type Salmonella. We determined that RstB-induction increases the levels of phoP mRNA as well as PhoP protein, while lack of the phoPQ genes abolishes RstB-promoted transcription of the PhoP-regulated genes. This regulatory function of RstB did not require its enzymatic activities, and thus the truncated RstB protein containing only periplasmic and transmembrane regions was able to promote PhoP-activated transcription. The RstB protein appeared to target the PhoQ sensor rather than the PhoP response regulator because RstB-induction failed to enhance transcription of the PhoP-regulated genes in a strain maintaining the normal PhoP function, even without PhoQ.
