        A native Trichoderma harzianum strain Th62 displays antagonistic activities against phytopathogenic fungi and promotes the growth of Celosia cristata

        Trichoderma spp. are widely applied, eco-friendly mycofungicides and plant growth promoters. Native Trichoderma strainsare likely to have more productive, stable biocontrol and biofertilizer activities since they are well adapted to the local environment. In this study, we isolated a native Trichoderma strain ‘Th62’ from the rhizosphere soil of wild Chelidonium majusplants in Harbin, China (126.6341°E, 45.7242°N). The isolated Trichoderma strain was identifi ed as a T. harzianum strainvia morphological observation and molecular methods based on the rDNA internal transcribed spacer region and elongationfactor-1α gene sequences. Signifi cant antagonistic activities of Th62 against fi ve soil-borne fungal phytopathogens,Fusarium oxysporum , Sclerotinia sclerotiorum , Alternaria alternata , Cytospora chrysosperma, and Rhizoctonia solani ,were confi rmed by dual-culture assays. Furthermore, the crude fermentation products of Th62 also displayed antifungalactivities against these fi ve pathogens. To evaluate the function of Th62 as a biofertilizer, we subsequently applied Th62on cockscomb ( Celosia cristata L), a plant species with both ornamental and medicinal values, by inoculation with Th62conidia at diff erent concentrations, 1 × 10 10 cfu mL −1 , 1 × 10 11 cfu mL −1 , and 1 × 10 12 cfu mL −1 . The benefi cial eff ects ofTh62 were evaluated by measuring the growth and photosynthetic traits of the inoculated cockscomb plants, and the resultsdemonstrated that Th62 signifi cantly improved the photosynthetic effi ciency, photosynthetic capacity, and the adaptabilityto intense light of the inoculated cockscomb plants compared to the controls. Consistently, Th62 inoculation signifi cantlyimproved the growth and fl ower yield of cockscomb. We presented a positive case of isolating and applying native microbialresources on local plantation practices.

      • Agent Bidding Strategy of Multiple Round English Auction based on Genetic Network Programming

        The auction mechanism is widely used in web-based sites and originally designed for human beings, but it might not be the most efficientonein the future, while, there is ademand of evolutionary computation auction agents adaptable to the dynamic auction environments. In this paper, we have applied Genetic Network Programming(GNP) to auction agents to determine a bid at each time step and developed multiple round English Auction mechanisms based on multi-agent systems. In the simulations, we provide comparisons of the proposed method with existing ones. As a result, it has been found that the proposed method could help agents to evolve their strategies generation by generation to get more goods with less money. Also, GNP has a good performance of helping the agent to find out the suitable strategy under the current situation.

        法 가운데 道를 깨친다 : 中國書法의 境界

        書法은 중국문화 중 철학적 의의를 지닌 예술이다. 중국서법은 동방문화 특유의 예술보배로서, 역대 賢哲들의 수준 높은 문화내면을 융합하고, 그들의 깊고도 敦厚한 지혜를 수용하며, 부단히 精進하고 있다. 중국의 서법은 “法”을 중시하지만, “法”에 구애되지 않는다. 중국에서 “書法”이라는 “法”에는, 다음과 같은 세 가지 層面의 뜻이 있다. 첫째, 질박하면서 거리낌이 없는 “道”의 정신이 그 가운데 내함되어 있어서 “道”를 쉽게 혹은 가볍게 언급할 수 없으며 “道”를 초월적인 존재로 보는 것이다. 둘째, 技藝는 道에 가깝다 셋째, “法”은 “본받는 것”이기 때문에 더 나아가 개체의 마음과 性情의 가치를 높이면 높고 심오한 경지에 도달할 수 있다. 따라서 서법은 직업 서법의 기능훈련이 아닌 것일 뿐만 아니라, 技法이 승화한 후의 문화경지이고, 동방문화정신의 집약적 체현이며, 중국문화의 정수이다. 서법이 만약 문화적 버팀목을 잃고 통속적이고 조잡한 서사로 변한다면, 흔히 말하는 표층기법으로 변할 것이다. 더욱 슬픈 것은 모종의 ?利도구 - 稻粱謀로 변하는 것이다. 그러므로 書法의 “法”은 오늘날 더욱더 法度를 초월하는 그 이상의 인류정신이 살아있는 존재적 형식이 되어야 한다. Among the Chinese culture, 'shuf'(i.e. calligraphy in China) is an art with a philosophic meaning. As a peculiar artistic treasure, Chinese 'shufa' is incessantly assiduous in harmonizing the high cultural inside of successive sages and accepting their profound and sincere wisdom. 'Shufa'in China takes a serious view of 'fa'(model) but is free from it. In China 'fa' of 'shufa' contains the three meanings below. First, 'fa' includes the mind of unadorned free 'dao'(way) so that one cannot mention 'dao' easily or insignificantly but can regard it as a transcendental existence. Second, arts and crafts are close to 'dao.' Third, 'fa'is to model. Therefore, it can reach to the stage of profundity if one enhances the value of its nature and mind. Accordingly, 'shufa' is not the functional training of professional calligraphy. Rather it is the cultural stage after sublimating skills, summarized embodiment of Eastern cultural spirit, and essence of Chinese culture. If 'shufa' changes into a popular and coarse writing without a cultural stay, it will be the outer layer skill. More miserable is that it also turns into a certain means of profit, namely livelihood. In conclusion, 'fa' of 'shufa' should be nowadays the existence form human spirit transcending a rule is alive.

        Influence of lining materials on the detonation driving of fragments

        The shape and strength of prefabricated fragments changes to some extent after detonation loading. In this paper, detonation loading process of prefabricated fragments under two types of lining layers was studied and compared with no lining. By observing the recovered fragments, it was found that the inner part of the material was cracked and the shape of the fragments changed significantly. Comparing the two lining materials, the Kevlar/epoxy was better protective lining than polyurethane. The detonation process was analyzed qualitatively by using shock wave theory. In order to further explore the process, the simulation software LS-DYNA was used to carry out 3D simulation. The simulation results, in good agreement with the experimental results, showed that the Kevlar/Epoxy liner had a great influence on the initial velocity of the fragment. The experimental results and simulation results suggest that spherical fragments are better than cylindrical fragments in detonation drive application.

      • Chloroquine and Valproic Acid Combined Treatment in Vitro has Enhanced Cytotoxicity in an Osteosarcoma Cell Line

        Choroquine (CQ) and valproic acid (VPA) have been extensively studied for biological effects. Here, we focused on efficacy of combined CQ and VPA on osteosarcoma cell lines. Viability of osteosarcoma cell lines (U20S and HOS) was analyzed by MTT assay. Apoptotic assays and colony formation assays were also applied. ROS generation and Western Blotting were performed to determine the mechanism of CQ and VPA combination in the process of apoptosis. The viability of different osteosarcoma cell lines significantly decreased after CQ and VPA combination treatment compared with either drug used alone, and apoptosis was increased significantly. ROS generation was triggered leading to expression of apoptosis related genes being increased and of antiapoptotic related genes being decreased. From our data shown here, CQ and VPA combination treatment in vitro enhanced cytotoxicy to osteosarcoma cells.

      • A Genetic Relation Algorithm with Guided Mutation for the Large-Scale Portfolio Optimization

        The survey of the relevant literature showed that the rehave been many studies for portfolio optimization problem and that the number of studies which have investigated the optimum portfoliousing evolutionary computation is quite high. But almost none of these studies deals with genetic relation algorithm(GRA). This study presents an approach to large-scale port folio optimization problem using GRA with a new operator, called guided mutation. In order to pickup the most efficient portfolio, GRA considers the correlation coefficient between stock brands as strength, which indicates there lation between nodes in each individual of GRA. Guided mutation generates off spring according to the average value of correlation coefficients in each individual. A genetic relation algorithm with guided mutation(GRA/G) for the portfolio optimization is proposed in this paper. Genetic network programming(GNP), which was proposed in our previous research, is used to validate the performance of the portfolio generated with GRA/G. The results show that GRA/Gap proach is successful in portfolio optimization.

        Mannich reaction catalyzed by a novel catalyst under solvent-free conditions

        An acidic catalyst [Py][CF3COO] (pyridinium trifluoroacetate) was synthesized and used in the Mannich reaction of various kinds of aromatic aldehydes, aromatic ketones and aromatic amines. b-Amino carbonyl compounds were obtained in reasonable yields when the Mannich reaction was carried out at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. The products could be separated from the catalyst simply via washing with water and after removing water, the catalyst could be recycled and reused for up to four times without noticeably decreasing in catalytic activity.

        Genome-wide identification of WRKY family genes and their response to abiotic stresses in tea plant (Camellia sinensis)

        The WRKY transcription factors (TFs) family is one of the largest TF families in plants and plays a central role in diverse regulation and multiple stress responses. However, the systematical analysis of the WRKY gene family in tea plant (Camellia sinensis) based on genomic data has been lacking. The primary objective of this study was to set a systematic analysis of the WRKY gene family based on genomic data in tea plant and analyze their expression profiles under various abiotic stresses. We searched the tea plant genome using the consensus model of the WRKY domain (PF03106) and then used these search results to identify all the WRKY family members by SMART and the CDD program. Analyze their phylogeny, classification, structure, conserved motifs, Cis-elements, interactors and expression profiles. 56 putative WRKY genes were identified from the tea plant genome and divided into three main groups (I–III) and five subgroups (IIa–IIe) according to the WRKY domains and the zinc-finger structure. The gene structure and conserved motifs of the CsWRKY genes were also characterized and were consistent with the classification results. Annotation analysis showed that 34 CsWRKY genes may be involved in stress responses. Promoter analysis implied that CsWRKY genes, except for CsWRKY55, possessed at least one abiotic stress response cis-element. Expression profiles of CsWRKY genes in different tissues were analyzed with RNA-seq data. The results showed that 56 CsWRKY genes had differential expression in their transcript abundance. The expression profiles also showed that many identified CsWRKY genes were possibly involved in the response to cold, drought, salt, or ABA treatment. Tea plant genome contains at least 56 WRKY genes. These results provide useful information for further exploring the function and regulatory mechanism of CsWRKY genes in the growth, development, and adaption to abiotic stresses in tea plant.

      • Analysis of Fuzzy Class Association Rule Mining Based on Genetic Network Programming

        Classification rule mining is apractical data mining technique widely used inreal world. In the previous work, we have put for ward a fuzzy classassociation rule mining method based on Genetic Network Programming and applied it to network in trusion detection system which proved it sefficiency and advantage. In this paper, a detailed comparison not only between fuzzy class association rule minings(FCARMs) with fixed fuzzy membership functions and with evolved fuzzy membership functions, but also between FCARMs with and with out probability no detransition are carried out. The aim of this paper is to provide experimental analysis on the characteristics of FCARMs with different implementations. Experimental results conducted on real world database, KDD99 Cup and DAPRA 98 database from MITL incoln Laboratory, are studied to verify the comparison.
