        Complete Laryngotracheal Separation Following Attempted Hanging

        Laryngotracheal separation (LTS) is the most immediately life-threatening airway injury. LTS is so rare that very few otolaryngologists have experience with it. LTS is one of the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in airway diseases and its management remains to be established. We experienced a patient with complete LTS after attempted hanging. A high index of suspicion, adequate imaging, prompt airway establishment and early surgical repair are the most vital factors in managing a patient with LTS.

        후이개 전위피판을 이용한 광범위 이개강 결손의 재건

        Malignant lesions of external ear are most commonly excised with histologic margin control. But each ear defect is unique and the surgeon often faces a reconstructive challenge after tumor excision. Recently, we experienced a case of auricle cancer developed in 80 year old man with ulcerated lesion on conchal bowl, which was reconstructed with postauricular pull-through flap.         모듈러 슬래브교량의 횡방향 연결부 구조적 거동 및 사용성 평가

        Recently, in field of bridge construction, modular technology has been studied to reduce construction period, traffic impact andenvironmental impact. This study is a part of research related to the modular bridges. The aim of the study is to analyze thestructural behavior and evaluate a serviceability for transverse connection of modular slab bridge. A total of four specimens werefabricated. including a control beam for finding the maximum load by static test. And one control beam and two segmental beamswere fabricated for cyclic loading test. As the test result, the beams that were introduced 100% of the design prestressing forceshowed a smaller maximum deflection, residual deflection and crack width than the control beam. The beam for serviceabilityevaluation was satisfied with structural serviceability limits of the deflection and crack. 최근 구조물의 노후화에 따른 급속 교체, 교통 영향 및 환경 영향 최소화의 요구에 따라 프리캐스트 기술을 활용한 모듈러 교량 연구가활발하게 진행중에 있다. 본 연구는 모듈러 교량과 관련된 연구의 일환으로 모듈러 슬래브 교량의 횡방향 연결부를 대상으로 반복하중 재하 실험을 통하여 횡방향 연결부의 반복 하중에 따른 구조적 거동 특성을 파악하고 사용성 평가하였다. 반복하중의 크기를 결정하기 위하여 RC 보를 1개 제작하였으며 반복하중 재하 실험을 위하여 일체형 RC 보 1개와 분절형 실험체 3개를 제작하였다. 실험결과, 분절형 실험체는 하중 반복 횟수가 증가함에 따라 처짐 및 균열폭이 거의 일정하거나 수렴하는 경향을 나타냈으며, 일체형 RC 보와 비교하여 최대처짐, 잔류처짐, 균열폭 모두 작게 나타났다. 또한 사용하중을 반복 재하한 실험체의 경우, 처짐 및 균열에 대한 사용성 기준을 모두 만족하였다.

        멤리스터 기반 미분 및 적분제어 회로에서의 커패시턴스 변화에 따른 히스테리시스 곡선 특성 분석

        This paper presents an electrical feature analysis of hysteresis curves in memristor differential and intergral control circuit. After making macro model of the memristor device, electric characteristics of the model such as time analysis, frequency dependent DC I-V curves were performed by PSPICE simulation. Also, we made a circuit of memristor-capacitor based on nano-wired memristor device and analyzed the simulated PSPICE results. Finally, we proposed a memristor based differential or integral control circuit, analyzed hysteresis curve characteristic in the control circuit.

        Client Oriented Scale of Improvement의 한글 번역 및 표준화

        Background and Objectives Client Oriented Scale of Improvement (COSI) has been designed to identify client needs, changes in listening ability, and final listening ability in situations important to each client. The aim of this study was to translate COSI into Korean with subsequent linguistic validation and to determine the reliability of the Korean version of the COSI (K-COSI). Subjects and Method An expert panel translated the original version of COSI into the Korean language. A bilingual translator back-translated the translated version into English, which was subsequently compared with the original English version. K-COSI was administered at 14 referral hospitals, to 128 patients with hearing disability after cognitive debriefing. Reliability was assessed using correlation study. Results K-COSI showed an excellent test-retest correlation and high reliability in degree of change (Spearman correlation=0.89, interclass correlation coefficient=0.922). It also showed a fair test-retest correlation and high reliability in final hearing ability (Spearman correlation=0.49, interclass correlation coefficient=0.353) Conclusion K-COSI proved to be highly reliable. The results suggest that the adapted Korean version of COSI is a reliable and valid measure for Korean-speaking patients with hearing loss. Korean J Otorhinolaryngol-Head Neck Surg 2017;60(7):336-41

      • Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of Radical Bottlebrush Polymers

        Bottlebrush polymers (BBPs) consist of a linear backbone and grafted side chains. The high branch-to-backbone ratio in these systems causes BBPs to adopt different conformational behavior compared to linear polymers, making them a topic of interest. The most widely used synthetic method for BBPs is the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of macromonomers. Radical polymers are conductive polymers that are composed of nonconjugated macromolecular backbones and pendant groups that bear stable open-shell sites. Here, we synthesized norbornene functionalized poly(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyloxy methacrylate) macromonomer via atom transfer radical polymerization and nitroxide radical coupling. We then synthesized the radial bottlebrush polymer via ROMP. Through these architecture changes, differences between linear radial polymers and radical bottlebrush polymers were compared via electron paramagnetic resonance, cyclic voltammetry, etc.

      • Holographic Interferometry를 이용한 하악 구치부 도재소부 전장관용 금속 구조물의 굴곡성향에 대한 연구

        Flexion of a metal/ceramic fixed partial denture(FPD) frameworks under function can cause fracture of porcelain or deterioration of the cement seal. This study evaluated the flexion characteristics of three-unit mandibular FPI) frameworks, replacing the second premolar under compressive load(200g, 400g). Testing was accomplished with real-time holographic interferorrmetry, using 6 porcelain fused-to metal frameworks. Tested alloys were non-precious alloy(Heracles, Holland), semi-precious alloy(Degudent U, Germany) and precious alloy(Degudent H, Germany). Changes of the fringe patterns according to the heat treatment (porcelain firing cycle), various loads (200g, 400g), occlusal forms (occlusal porcelain veneering, facial porcelain veneering), various alloys and post-soldering units were compared. Dental study model (Nissan dental products, Inc. D51DP-500A, Japan) and six 3-unit metal/ceramic fixed partial denture frameworks were used as experimental materials. 36 holograms were taken on fixed dental study model b using the 10mW He-Ne laser and real-time holographic interferometry. On the basis of this study, the following conclusions can be drawn : 1. In the frameworks for facial porcelain veneering, the semi-precious alloy framework was least deformed and precious alloy framework, non-precious alloy framework orderly before heat treatment, and the deformation was not shown great difference among three alloys after heat treatment and post-soldering. 2. In the frameworks for occlusal porcelain veneering, the precious alloy framework was greatest deformed and the deformation was not difference between semi-precious alloy framework and non-precious alloy framework before, after heat treatment, and the deformation was not shown great difference among three alloys after post soldering. 3: In the non-precious alloy frameworks for facial porcelain veneering and occlusal porcelain veneering, the deformation was greatly decreased after heat treatment and conversely increased after post-soldering. 4. In the semi-precious alloy framework for facial porcelain veneering, the deformation was not detectable after heat treatment and increased after post-solder. And in the framework for occlusal porcelain veneering, the deformation was slightly decreased after heat treatment and increased after post-soldering. 5. In the precious alloy framework for facial porcelain veneering, the deformation was greatly decreased after heat treatment and increased after post-soldering. And in the framework for occlusal porcelain veneering, the deformation was greatly decreased after heat treatment and decreased after post-soldering.

        말단이 변성된 아크릴 수지의 합성 및 말단기와 분자량에 따른 기계적 물성 변화

        In this work, acrylic resins consisting of difunctional poly (butyl acrylate) (PBA) were prepared via atom transfer radical polymerization. PBA acrylic resins with two different molecular weights were synthesized and the terminalgroups of the bifunctional PBA were substituted with an acrylate group (A type), a silane group (S type), and a vinylgroup (V type). The resulting PBA acrylic resins were characterized by gel permeation chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. These resins having different terminal groups were cured using thermal curing, UV curing,and moisture curing. The mechanical properties were examined using tensile and peel tests according to the molecularweight and the type of end groups
