Prosody Processing of Korean Language in Stroke Patients: A Preliminary Study

        주혜인,신용욱,한석희,김점숙,최혜영,이혜선,Thine Yang,신준호 대한재활의학회 2013 Annals of Rehabilitation Medicine Vol.37 No.5

Objective To investigate the hemispheric contributions to prosody recognitions and interference effects of semantic processing on prosody for stroke patients by using the Korean language. Methods Ten right hemisphere damaged patients (RHD), nine left hemisphere damaged patients (LHD), and eleven healthy controls (HC) participated. In pure prosody recognition task, four semantically neutral sentences were selected and presented in both sad and happy prosodies. In interference task, participants listened to emotionally intoned sentences in which the semantic contents were congruent or incongruent with prosody. Participants were asked to rate the valence of prosody while ignoring the semantic contents, and thus, reaction time and accuracy were estimated. Results In pure prosody recognition task, RHD showed low accuracy as compared to HC (p=0.013), and the tendency of group response showed that RHD performed worse than HC and LHD with regards to accuracy and reaction time. In interference task, analysis of accuracy revealed a significant main effect of groups (p=0.04), and the tendency implied that RHD is less accurate as compared to LHD and HC. The RHD took longer reaction times than HC in congruent and incongruent items (p<0.001).Conclusion Right hemispheric laterality to prosody processing of Korean language in stroke patients was observed. Interference effects of semantic contents to prosody processing were not observed, which suggested unique characteristics of prosody for Korean language. These results could be referred as preliminary data for future researches on Korean languages.

Bilateral Cranial IX and X Nerve Palsies After Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

        유승돈,김동환,이승아,주혜인,여진아,정성준 대한재활의학회 2016 Annals of Rehabilitation Medicine Vol.40 No.1

We report a 57-year-old man with bilateral cranial nerve IX and X palsies who presented with severe dysphagia. After a mild head injury, the patient complained of difficult swallowing. Physical examination revealed normal tongue motion and no uvular deviation. Cervical X-ray findings were negative, but a brain computed tomography revealed a skull fracture involving bilateral jugular foramen. Laryngoscopy indicated bilateral vocal cord palsy. In a videofluoroscopic swallowing study, food residue remained in the vallecula and pyriform sinus, and there was reduced motion of the pharynx and larynx. Electromyography confirmed bilateral superior and recurrent laryngeal neuropathy.

        김가영,김슬기,김지아,박다현,연현숙,오연경,주혜인,차근영 이화여자대학교 간호과학대학 2011 이화간호학회지 Vol.- No.45

This document's purposes are to give basic data in the viewpoint of nursing through investigation on the change of teenager's sexual values resulted from pornography experience. 150 middle school boy students who were in first, second and third grade were surveyed. Investigated place is limited only one school which is located in Seoul city. 123 Data was available among the 150 surveyed data. Collected data are statistically processed using SPSS program. To verify the reliability, Cronbach'a was applied and analysed using t- test, ANOVA. In short, the main results of this survey are as follows. 1. The general characteristics of surveyed students: Most of surveyed students were middle school 3rdgrade(42.5%) who had computer at their room ranked first (47.2%). The average using time of internet was more than 2 hours (35.4%, the highest rate). 76.6% of surveyed students answered that they had experience of watching the pornography. 2. 53.1% of surveyed students, which is the highest ratio, experienced pornography before they entered middle school. The curiosity rank first (57.%) about the question why they watch pornography. In case of students who had no experiences of pornography answered that they didn't watch pornography because they had no concern on pornography (51.6%). 3. On sexual values, the average scores of pornography non-experienced (3.77±0.46, full score: 5..0) are higher than those of pornography-experienced (3.53±0.51), showing statically significant difference against pornography -experienced group. 4. Findings of sexual values scores on general characteristics were as follows; The higher in grades, the lower in scores. Top-graded students gained higher scores of sexual values than low graded students showing statistically significant difference in both case of characteristics.

IFITM3-mediated activation of TRAF6/MAPK/AP-1 pathways induces acquired TKI resistance in clear cell renal cell carcinoma

        정세운,박자민,윤선영,황희상,고현정,신동명,주혜인,성창옥,이재련,정고운,조용미 대한비뇨의학회 2024 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.65 No.1

Purpose: Vascular endothelial growth factor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been the standard of care for advanced and metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). However, the therapeutic effect of TKI monotherapy remains unsatisfactory given the high rates of acquired resistance to TKI therapy despite favorable initial tumor response. Materials and Methods: To define the TKI-resistance mechanism and identify new therapeutic target for TKI-resistant ccRCC, an integrative differential gene expression analysis was performed using acquired resistant cohort and a public dataset. Sunitinib-resistant RCC cell lines were established and used to test their malignant behaviors of TKI resistance through in vitro and in vivo studies. Immunohistochemistry was conducted to compare expression between the tumor and normal kidney and verify expression of pathway-related proteins. Results: Integrated differential gene expression analysis revealed increased interferon-induced transmembrane protein 3 (IFITM3) expression in post-TKI samples. IFITM3 expression was increased in ccRCC compared with the normal kidney. TKI-resistant RCC cells showed high expression of IFITM3 compared with TKI-sensitive cells and displayed aggressive biologic features such as higher proliferative ability, clonogenic survival, migration, and invasion while being treated with sunitinib. These aggressive features were suppressed by the inhibition of IFITM3 expression and promoted by IFITM3 overexpression, and these findings were confirmed in a xenograft model. IFITM3-mediated TKI resistance was associated with the activation of TRAF6 and MAPK/AP-1 pathways. Conclusions: These results demonstrate IFITM3-mediated activation of the TRAF6/MAPK/AP-1 pathways as a mechanism of acquired TKI resistance, and suggest IFITM3 as a new target for TKI-resistant ccRCC.

The Therapeutic Effect of Human Embryonic Stem Cell-Derived Multipotent Mesenchymal Stem Cells on Chemical-Induced Cystitis in Rats

2018 International Neurourology Journal Vol.22 No.S2

Purpose: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-derived multipotent mesenchymal stem cells (M-MSCs) on ketamine-induced cystitis (KC) in rats. Methods: To induce KC, 10-week-old female rats were injected with 25-mg/kg ketamine hydrochloride twice weekly for 12 weeks. In the sham group, phosphate buffered saline (PBS) was injected instead of ketamine. One week after the final injection of ketamine, the indicated doses (0.25, 0.5, and 1×106 cells) of M-MSCs (KC+M-MSC group) or PBS vehicle (KC group) were directly injected into the bladder wall. One week after M-MSC injection, the therapeutic outcomes were evaluated via cystometry, histological analyses, and measurement of gene expression. Next, we compared the efficacy of M-MSCs at a low dose (1×105 cells) to that of an identical dose of adult bone marrow (BM)-derived MSCs. Results: Rats in the KC group exhibited increased voiding frequency and reduced bladder capacity compared to rats of the sham group. However, these parameters recovered after transplantation of M-MSCs at all doses tested. KC bladders exhibited markedly increased mast cell infiltration, apoptosis, and tissue fibrosis. Administration of M-MSCs significantly reversed these characteristic histological alterations. Gene expression analyses indicated that several genes associated with tissue fibrosis were markedly upregulated in KC bladders. However the expression of these genes was significantly suppressed by the administration of M-MSCs. Importantly, M-MSCs ameliorated bladder deterioration in KC rats after injection of a low dose (1×105) of cells, at which point BM-derived MSCs did not substantially improve bladder function. Conclusions: This study demonstrates for the first time the therapeutic efficacy of hESC-derived M-MSCs on KC in rats. MMSCs restored bladder function more effectively than did BM-derived MSCs, protecting against abnormal changes including mast cell infiltration, apoptosis and fibrotic damage.

The Relationship Between Tongue Pressure and Oral Dysphagia in Stroke Patients

        이종하,김희상,윤동환,전진만,한유진,유승돈,김동환,이승아,주혜인,박지수,김진철,서윤수 대한재활의학회 2016 Annals of Rehabilitation Medicine Vol.40 No.4

Objective To evaluate the relationships between tongue pressure and different aspects of the oral-phase swallowing function. Methods We included 96 stroke patients with dysphagia, ranging in age from 40 to 88 years (mean, 63.7 years). Measurements of tongue pressure were obtained with the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument, a device with established normative data. Three trials of maximum performance were performed for lip closure pressure (LP), anterior hard palate-to-tongue pressure (AP), and posterior hard palate-to-tongue pressure (PP); buccal-to-tongue pressures on both sides were also recorded (buccal-to-tongue pressure, on the weak side [BW]; buccal-to-tongue pressure, on the healthy side [BH]). The average pressure in each result was compared between the groups. Clinical evaluation of the swallowing function was performed with a videofluoroscopic swallowing study. Results The average maximum AP and PP values in the intact LC group were significantly higher than those in the inadequate lip closure group (AP, p=0.003; PP, p<0.001). AP and PP showed significant relationships with bolus formation (BF), mastication, premature bolus loss (PBL), tongue to palate contact (TP), and oral transit time (OTT). Furthermore, LP, BW, and BH values were significantly higher in the groups with intact mastication, without PBL and intact TP. Conclusion These findings indicate that the tongue pressure appears to be closely related to the oral-phase swallowing function in post-stroke patients, especially BF, mastication, PBL, TP and OTT.
