Vol.33 No.5

The issues of environmental pollution and labor safety on ship recycling in the undeveloped countries such as India, Bangladesh, etc have been proclaimed. For this, IMO has been actively participated in resolving such problems since 1998 and then finally the International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships is going to be adopted in this year. The convention provides the design, construction, operation and preparation of ships in order to facilitate safe and environmentally sound recycling as well as the safe and environmentally sound operation of ship recycling facilities. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to introduce the major contents of ship recycling convention and its time of entry into force and to analyse stakeholders' strategies toward it so that Korea will have a better position for the establishment of a mechanism regarding regulation stringency on environmentally sound ship recycling.

Vol.33 No.3

The body has memories and reveals them to others as a sign of living life. We meet with our bodies and understand things and the world through our bodies, and our bodies are closely related to perception, sensing, feeling, and behaviour, which are factors that expand cognition. The first and fundamental form of human self-awareness is sense representing a sense of the physiological state of the whole, which claims that sensation is a fundamental element of cognition. By the way, the sense of the body is not from the senses, but from human movements. Dance consisting of movement, and is an arts activity optimised to stimulate the senses, feel them, and expand awareness. This researcher conducted <Brain Power Up>, developed based on cognitive science and enactivism that movement by body intuition creates opportunities for the brain to explore, rationalise, and analyse. <Brain Power Up> is a total of 10 sessions of dance-oriented arts education programs aimed at improving creative, convergent, and insightful skills as a cultural and arts experience that explores the mystery and curiosity of the neuroscience area of the brain and stimulates various areas of the brain. This study discusses the concept and importance of ‘sense making’, which is the subject of weeks 1 to 3, along with a theoretical review that was the basis for developing this program, and aims to expand the diversity and expansion of dance education program research as follows. First, by analysing the concept and relationship of sensation/body/feeling, the validity of movement as a cognitive element is provided, and how dance is implemented in the <Brain Power Up> program is discussed to examine how it helps cognitive development. Second, it discusses body knowledge as a basis for understanding sensory creation of this program, and examine the concept of sensory making of this program developed based on a enactivism.

Vol.29 No.4

Human has a formidable ability that can control his/her own body to perform numerous numbers of skilled behaviours which appropriate to his/her own culture. This can be explained as embodied cognition. Dancers’ numerous movement repertories are highly skilled, and very accurate and complicate that require high control ability. Apart from this control ability, dancers also possess employing space-time, creative thinking for choreography that can offer un unique model to explore how dancer can integrate space-time and skilled movement. Human brain develops a specific process but it has the plasticity which continuously changes with learning and interaction with the environment and people. Dancers, who live with unspeakably fast or complex skilled movements production and re-production, clearly have the plasticity. Dancers who are composed of bodily knowledge, have a huge potential to neuroscientists to explore how the complicate movements can be learned, memorised, re-produced through dancers’ control ability and brain plasticity. Therefore, this study aims to provide the basis for interdisciplinary research of dance and neuroscience to vitalise dance research in terms of embodiment, bodily knowledge and brain. Firstly, to provide the basis of interdisciplinary research for dance, it explores the impotance of the integrating body and brain, and dancers’ embodied cognition. Secondly, it discusses the intimate relationship between seeing dance and doing dance to understand dancers’ brain networks. Thirdly, for the communication of the dancer and the audience, it depicts kinesthetics and cognition of intersubjectivity within a neuroscientific way.

Vol.30 No.3

The internet network that accompanies enormous informations, transcends nations and cultures, and transforms the contemporary culture radically. On-line accesses the customised interaction and social cohesion through an extensive network over the real life. As more and more people use the internet, digital world offers various ways of communications to human. In addition, as the internet expands the network, it effects our real life in various ways. At this point of time, we must consider that how we understand the experience of interaction with human and technology? What will cultural and social phenomenon emerge on the social media and the real world? It could be a magic if we think back to the period of the world without internet. As more people use internet, everybody can expand digital world infinitely through computer and smartphone in anytime and anywhere. Correspond with the socal changes, sociology, ethnography, and anthropology scholars search for more experimental and participatory methodologies to understand the transference of the social realms. Netnography, an ethnographical approach, offers an valuable entrance to the study on cyber culture. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the transference of the contemporary culture and examine the validity of the most appropriate methodology to analyse the contemporary culture with the digital world. This study examines, Firstly, it discusses the meaning of culture and community on the internet to anaylse the transformed identity on the digital world. Moreover it considers the core elements of the contemporary culture which maintains, disperses and modifies through the digital world. Secondly, it depicts the validity and advantage of netnography to research into contemporary social and culture which emerges from the network on digital world.

Airway Obstruction and Flattening of Arterial Pressure Wave during Whole Lung Lavage -A Case Report-

2013 Acute and Critical Care Vol.28 No.2

Whole lung lavage (WLL) is a challenging procedure; because lavage fluid may perturb the respiratory and hemodynamic systems. We observed severe airway obstruction and flattening arterial pressure wave during WLL for treatment of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. The aim of this case report is to discuss the anesthetic requirement in order to prevent bronchospasm during WLL. Furthermore, we discuss the potential of lavage fluid to cause airway obstruction and decrease cardiac outflow through the mass effect.

Vol.28 No.4

Knowledge is a concept system to structuralise our experience, and the form of knowledge has been discussed by several scholars. There are various aspects besides the form of theory which is possible to be written. Traditionally, epistemology focuses on propositional knowledge to demonstrate the validity of true belief. However, this could not explain all the examples of our knowing. Especially, dance consists of dancer’s movement which includes an accumulation of both dancer’s continuous practice to produce specific movement externally and the individual inner experience internally. Therefore, how can we educate dance which is an indescribable product of inner experience of dancer’s body movement? These days, global community requires not only a knowledgable person but a person who has capability of skill, adaptation, diversity, motivation, civilised behaviour, creativity, harmony with others and so on. Therefore, this study interrogates the way of conveying bodily knowledge through dance in these special days. It aims to expand the conceptual range of dance perception and education through the understanding of forms of knowledge to explore particular application space for transition from knowledge to knowing in dance. This study demonstrates, firstly, examining seemingly indescribable dance education through exploring dancer’s bodily knowledge which retains individual inner experience and the world. Secondly, discussing forms of knowledge and investigating knowing through analysing the contents of dance subjects. Thirdly, exploring space of knowing through dance subjects in universities in UK.

Analysis of Diapause-Associated Changes in Silkworm Egg Proteins

2004 International Journal of Industrial Entomology Vol.9 No.1

The patterns of diapause-associated proteins of silkworm eggs were analyzed by two-dimensional (2-D) gel electrophoresis. Among the hundreds of spots on the 2-D gels, at least two proteins were considered to be associated with diapause. A protein, spot 4, with an approximate molecular weight of 38 kDa and pI 6.1 was observed in the HCl-treated, cold-treated, and diapause eggs, respectively. Spot 4 was undetectable in unfertilized eggs and non-diapause eggs at two days after oviposition, suggesting that this protein may be associated with the entrance to diapause. A protein, spot 11, with an approximate molecular weight of 21 kDa and pI of 61 was detected in the unfertilized, HCltreated, and cold-treated eggs, respectively, after oviposition by normal moths. In diapausing eggs, a protein corresponding to spot 11 was observed in 3-, 5-, and 30-day-old eggs, while the protein was not detected one-day-old eggs. The protein corresponding to spot 11 was not detected in unfertilized and nondiapause eggs obtained from subesophabeal ganglion (SG)-extirpated moths either. Spot 11 was also considered to be a diapause specific protein, which occurred at only early embryonic stage under the control of diapause- downregulated gene.
