The roles of algal biomass as a organic pollutant in the fresh water lakes was estimated and oxygen demand exerted by dead algal cells was determined. The results are as follows: Mean chlorophyll-a content of ATCC 4 strains, Anabaena, Scenedesmus, Microcystis, Cblorella, was 0.84% of dry weight and mean COD demanded by 1mg dry weight of algal biomass was 0.34mg. We could calculate algal COD (mg/1) from chlorophyll-a concentration (mg/m^3) in the lake water by multiplication by 0.04. The proportion of algal COD to the lake water COD was about 6.7% when the lake was in the normal state. But the proportion was increased by more than 30% during the season of algal bloom, accordingly algae contribute as a important organic pollutant in this season. BOD_5 and BOD_12 demanded by dead 1mg algal biomass of Anabaena flos-aquae were 1.3mg, 1.6mg respectively. With this respect algal biomass can be serve as a serious organic pollutant and can consume much oxygen in the lake especially during the death phase of algal bloom.
방사선에 의한 고환 손상에 대한 별갑 추출물의 보호 효과

We evaluated the effect of Byeol-Gab Extract (BGE) on testicular injury in the mouse after radiation exposure. BGE (50 mg/kg) was administrated to male C57BL/6 mice by P.O for ten days before radiation exposure, and histological parameters were assessed at 6 h and 35 days post 5 Gy irradiation. The BGE attenuated radiation-induced apoptosis in germ cells after 6 h after irradiation. BGE protected testicular morphological changes, such as changes in seminiferous epithelial height after radiation exposure. BGE treatment significantly increased testis weight compared with irradiation controls at 35 days. The present study suggests that BGE attenuates radiation-induced testicular injury via an anti-apoptotic effect and recovery of spermatogenesis.

數種의 果實菜蔬類에 對한 有機燐系 殺蟲劑들의 殘留量을 調査한 結果는 다음과 같다. 1) 菜蔬類(무우, 배추, 오이, 토마토)에서 diazinon의 檢出率은 20%, 檢出範圍는 不檢出∼0.020ppm 이었으며, 檢出試料의 平均은 0.004ppm이었다. DEP는 檢出率이 52.5%, 檢出範圍는 不檢出∼0.273ppm이었으며, 檢出試料의 平均은 0.096ppm 이었다. Malathion의 檢出率은 15%이며 檢出範圍는 不檢出∼0.038ppm이고 檢出試料의 平均은 0.021 ppm 이었다. 2) 고추에서는 EPN은 全試料에서 不檢出 되었으며, PAP는 1點의 試料에서만 0.006ppm으로 檢出되었다. 3) 포도에서의 PAP는 檢出率이 20%이고 檢出範圍는 不檢出∼0.008ppm 이었으며 檢出試料의 平均은 0.006ppm 이었다. EPN은 全試料에서 不檢出되었으며 MEP의 檢出率은 20%, 檢出範圍는 不檢出∼0.007ppm이며 檢出試料의 平均은 0.005ppm이었다. 4) 복숭아에서 EPN은 全試料에서 不檢出이었고, demeton-methyl은 檢出準이 30%, 檢出範圍는 不檢出∼0.047ppm이였으며, 檢出試料의 平均은 0.032ppm이었다. parathion은 1點의 試料에서만 0.003ppm으로 檢出되었다. 5) 本 調査結果에서 對象農作物인 國內生産 果實菜 蔬中 有機燐系 農藥의 殘留量은 國內外의 殘留許容基準에 훨씬 未達되는 水準이었으며 그 殘留量도 洗淨이나 調理科程에서 상당한 量이 除去될 것으로 생각되므로 實際로 人體內에 攝取되는 殘留農藥의 量은 極小한 것으로 判斷된다. This study was to investigate the organophosphorus insecticide residues in crops including five kinds of vegetables and two kinds of fruits. The pesticides investigated in spring-radish, spring Chinese cabbage, cucumber and tomato were diazinon, DEP and malathion, in unripe pepper EPN and PAP, in peach EPN, parathion and demeton-methyl, and in grape EPN, PAP and MEP. All samples were analysed by gas chromatographic technique with NPD detector. No one sample was found to approach proposed national maximum residue limits in Korea.
