Objective: To compare COH characteristics and IVF outcomes among IVF-ET patients who were treated with various therapeutic modalities for ovarian endometriomas and to propose effective pre-cyclic therapeutic modalities to improve IVF-ET outcomes in the patients with ovarian endometriomas. Methods: All cases that had undergone IVF-ET after laparoscopy between January 1997 to August 2003 were reviewed. Forty-eight patients with tubal factor were assigned to Group I. Twenty seven, 22 and 38 patients diagnosed as severe pelvic adhesion with ovarian endometriomas by laparoscopy received only medical therapy (Group II), cyst aspiration (Group III), and sclerotherapy (Group IV), respectively. Laparoscopic cystectomy was performed in 20 patients (Group V). Resistance index was measured on day administering hCG. Results: As compared with Group I, in Group II resistance index increased (p<0.05) but number of oocytes, good-quality oocyte ratio (mature and intermediate oocytes/total retrieval oocytes), fertilization rate, and embryo development rate decreased (p<0.05). In Group III fertilization rate and embryo development rate decreased (p<0.05). There was no difference between Group IV and Group I in all parameters except basal FSH which increased (p<0.05). In Group V basal FSH, and resistance increased (p<0.05) and number of oocytes and good-quality oocytes ratio decreased (p<0.05). Conclusion: Sclerotherapy is an effective therapeutic option which can be done prior to IVF-ET cycles in the patients with ovarian endometriomas. Further studies on a large scale are necessary to confirm these data.
Clinical guidelines for ovarian cancer: the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology guidelines

Since the latest practice guidelines for ovarian cancer were developed by the Korean Society ofGynecologic Oncology (KSGO) in 2021, many studies have examined the efficacy and safetyof various treatments for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Therefore, the need to developrecommendations for EOC treatments has been raised. This study searched the literatureusing 4 key items and the Population, Inter vention, Comparison, and Outcome: the efficacyand safety of poly-ADP ribose polymerase inhibitors in newly diagnosed advanced EOC; theefficacy and safety of intraperitoneal plus intravenous chemotherapy in optimally debulkedadvanced EOC; the efficacy and safety of secondar y cytoreductive surger y in platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer; and the efficacy and safety of the addition of bevacizumabto platinum-based chemotherapy in first platinum-sensitive recurrent EOC patients whoreceived prior bevacizumab. The evidence for these recommendations, according to eachkey question, was evaluated using a systematic review and meta-analysis. The committee ofovarian cancer of the KSGO developed updated guidelines for treatments of EOC.
디지털 컨버전스 사회의 맥락에서 과학기술영재의 프로파일링

디지털 컨버전스 사회는 유비쿼터스적 정보화와 지식 기반 사회의 바탕 위에 위에서 미디어 환경과 소통 양식의 변화로 각 영역의 경계가 약화되어 우리의 지식과 정보를 포함한 각종 문화와 기술이 수렴, 혼합, 변형, 분화, 재구성 등이 빈번히 일어나는 현상을 동반하는 사회이다. 이러한 사회 환경에서 요구되는 인재를 조사하기 위해 과학기술영재에 대한 특성에 대한 재정립이 필요하다. 과학기술영재는 보통 과학영재, 수학영재, 그리고 정보과학영재를 통칭하는 의 미이다. 과학기술영재의 프로파일링의 구성요소로 영재의 특성, 영재의 가정환경 및 동료 관계, 그리고 영재의 사회 및 문화적 환경을 설정하였다. 많은 학자들이 주장한 디지털 컨버전스 사회의 맥락에서 과학기술영재의 특성을 지적인 영 역, 정의적인 영역, 그리고 관계적인 영역 등 세 가지 영역으로 재정립하였다. 디지털 컨버전스 사회는 가정환경, 동료 관계, 사회 및 문화적 환경을 포함한 교육환경은 교육 소비자를 중심으로 설정된다. 기존의 교육 공급자 위주의 문화에서 이제 교육 소비자인 영재학생이 주체적으로 교육에 참여하는 문화가 형성 되어가는 것이다. 영재의 판별은 기존의 분리된 영재 선발을 디지털 컨버전스 사회에 맞게 통합하여 일원화하고 통합적으로 영재아들에게 과학, 수학 그리고 정보과학을 함께 가르쳐야 한다. The society of digital convergence is the society that ‘the convergence, mixture, transformation, specialization and reconstitution’ of technology and culture including our knowledge and information happen frequently while the boundaries of each area become to weak because of the change of ‘media-environment and communication’ based on information-oriented and knowledge-based society. To survey the talented person that is required in the society of digital convergence, we need to establish the characteristics about the gifted & talented of science and technology again. The gifted & talented of science and technology normally include the gifted of science, math and science of information. We set up the characteristics, home environment & peer relationship, and the environment of culture & society as the components of profiles of the gifted & talented of science and technology to research the gifted in digital convergence. We classify the characteristics about the gifted & talented of science and technology as 3 areas-intellectual area, affective area, and relationship area. The educational environment including home environment & peer relationship, and the environment of culture & society in digital convergence society will be set up educational consumer-oriented. The gifted and talented of science and technology should be taught science, math, and the science of information at the same time in the society of digital convergence.
