        대학생 연합기숙사 거주만족도 조사를 통한 사생실 공간 계획 연구

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the residents’ (university students) satisfaction level with their dormitory room plans. In order to examine the relationship between the physical characteristics of a dormitory room plan and the resident’s satisfaction level, paper-based survey was conducted for two recently developed dormitories located in Seoul Metropolitan Region. The findings indicate that dormitory room plans which provide sufficient privacy with greater distance between resident’s private areas are preferred by the residents. A double-deck bed is preferred when the room is small, while a single-deck bed is preferred when the room provides sufficient shared space. It is also recommended to make a clear division of space for different activities such as sleeping, studying and gathering.

        Service-Driven Approach(SDA) is a second-generation object-oriented software analysis and design method. It is based on earlier object-oriented methods such as Jacobson, Rumbaugh, Booch, and Wirfs-Brock and unifies them with a user-centered viewpoint, called service-driven. Rumbaugh's OMT causes class explosion problem by finding classes in early stages of requirement analysis. In big projects, it is impossible to find thousands of classes in the first stages of requirement analysis. Jacobson solves the problem by introducing the notion of use case which is a system's functionality in user's point of view. Almost all the current object-oriented software development methods incorporated the use case analysis as the first stage of their development method nowdays. However, use case analysis is not object-oriented. It hinders seamless transition among development stages. SDA provides a user-centered viewpoint from analysis to implementation stages consistently. User-centered viewpoint can be classified into three different layers in term of granulity of a problem. Customer's viewpoint is the ultimate service receiver's viewpoint. Jacobson's use case view point is incorporated into system user's view point. Object user's viewpoint is based on responsibility-driven design by Wirfs-Brock. Using consistent layered viewpoint, system can be built in top-down way as well as bottom-up way. SDA provides a flexible and systematic way of object-oriented system development.

        The role of BF-7 on Neuroprotection and Enhancement of Cognitive Function

        Amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) contributes to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), causing neuronal death through apoptosis. In this study, the neuroprotective role of BF-7, extracted form sericultural product, was examined against Aβ -induced toxicity in cultured human neuronal cell SKN-SH. In order to know if the BF-7 has positive role on the cognition and memory in human, the mixture of BF-7, DHA and EPA (BDE) was examined using Rey Kim and K-WAIS test with 50 healthy high school student. We report here that BDE significantly attenuated Aβ-induced apoptosis through the reduction of ROS accumulation, and diminished caspase-like protease activity. Moreover, the memory index and memory preservation, and attentative concentration of BDE treated group for 1 month were significantly improved, in contrast to the case of placebo control treated with DHA and EPA. This result represent that the BF-7 play significant positive role on learning memory. Taken together, our result suggested the natural product BF-7 is a good substance for the brain functionally and physiologically.

        The Improvement of Learning and Memory Ability of Normal Persons by BF-7

        To investigate whether BF-7, extracted from Bombyx mori, improved learning and memory of ordinary people, Rey-Kim Memory Test was performed with placebo group (32 persons), 200 mg BF-7 treated group (33 persons) and 400 mg BF-7 treated group (34 persons). BF-7 enhanced significantly learning and memory function in a dose-dependent manner. To know how BF-7 plays such a positive role, we measured the concentration of acetylcholine in the brain from memory impairment animal model. Treatment of BF-7 significantly increased the concentration of acetylcholine. So, it is supposed that the protection of cholinergic neuron and/or keeping proper concentration of acetylcholine might be one of the mechanisms by which BF-7 improve brain function. So, our results suggest that the BF-7 is effective material for improving learning and memory ability.

        국내 증식 양비둘기(Columba rupestris) 개체군 동태 분석

        The Hill Pigeon (Columba rupestris) is a locally endangered species with approximately 160 wild individuals in South Korea, and, it is globally listed as the least concerned species. The Korean Ministry of Environment has designated it as an endangered species in 2017 and as a species subject to priority restoration in 2018. This study conducted informationalization for birth, death, blood relations, immigration-emigration data for all captive individuals and used PMx software for analyzing population demography, gene diversity, and pedigrees to evaluate the captive population of hill pigeons. The results showed that, the degree of population growth exhibited a slowly increasing trend with certain negative aspects, including an age-related imbalance in the sex ratio and periods of short breeding ages after hatching. Considering these results, we suggest that managing captive Hill Pigeon populations should improve the reinforcement of locally endangered populations through captive propagation and reintroduction. 양비둘기(Columba rupestris)는 국제적으로 관심대상종(LC; Least Concern)이나, 국내에서는 160여 개체만이 야생에서 서식하고 있는 것으로 나타나, 2017년 환경부 멸종위기 야생생물 II급 지정 후 2018년 우선복원대상종으로 선정되어 증식·복원 사업이 추진 중이다. 본 연구는 5년간의 증식 양비둘기 개체정보, 번식정보 및 혈연관계를 정보화하고, 야생-증식 개체군 통계, 유전자 다양성 및 가계도 분석이 가능한 PMx 프로그램을 이용하여 양비둘기 증식개체군 건강성 평가를 진행하였다. 결과적으로, 개체군 크기 성장지수는 완만한 증가추세를 보였으나, 지속적인 야생 개체의 도입에도 불구하고, 연령별 성비 불균형, 짧은 번식가능 연령 등 번식 개체군에서 부정적 현상이 관찰되었다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여, 지역적 절멸 위기의 양비둘기 야생개체군 보충·강화를 위한 향후 국내 양비둘기 증식개체군 관리와 번식프로그램 개선 방안에 대해 고찰하였다.

        서울동물원 야생동물의 임상 검체 내 Clostridium 균의 항생제 내성 분석

        Clostridial bacteria are zoonotic agents, which cause severe necrotizing enteritis, pseudo-membrane colitis, enterotoxemia to both humans and animals. The objective of this study was to monitor the antibiotic resistance of Clostridium isolates on clinical specimens from wild animals in Seoul zoo for 5 years. Clostridium isolates were verified by using Vitek2 compact machine. Antibiotic susceptibility was assessed by antibiotic disc diffusion test, which was followed by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion test method. The frequency of Antimicrobial resistance of Clostridium isolate was the greatest in gentamicin (87%), then in order of amikacin (80%). There were 55.6% of Clostridium isolates showed multiple drug resistance (MDR). These results showed that a lot of Clostridial bacteria from wild animals in Seoul zoo were acquired antibiotic resistance. Because of the wild animal’s aggressive manner, it has been hard to collect clinical samples from wild animals in a zoo to exam antibiotic susceptibility. For these reasons, empirical use of antibiotics has been performed in frequently. It may cause to increase the emergence of antibiotic resistance bacteria. In addition, the antibiotic resistance bacteria from zoo animals can be spread to other wild animals which inhabit around the zoo. Therefore, regular monitoring of antibiotic resistance Clostridial bacteria is important to protect animals and humans from Clostridial diseases.

        Polycystic Kidney Disease in the Adult Female Pygmy Hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis)

        Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is characterized by multiple cysts within the renal parenchyma and is acommon heritable disease in humans, dogs, and cats. However, a few cases of PKD have been described in captivepygmy hippopotamuses. Bilateral PKD was observed in a 33-year-old, 198-kg female pygmy hippopotamus duringits necropsy in Seoul Zoo on 15 January 2013. The diagnosis of PKD was confirmed by gross findings andhistopathological examination. One kidney was slightly enlarged, and the lower portion of other kidney contained alarge cyst filled with light yellow, watery fluid. Both kidneys had numerous, variably sized fluid-filled cysts of 2 to20 mm in diameter. Considerable portions of the renal cortex and medulla were replaced by cysts. Microscopic inspectionshowed that the cysts were lined with low cuboidal to flat epithelial cells. The present case report of PKD in a pygmyhippopotamus is the first in Korea.

        Surgical Repair of Atresia Ani with Rectovaginal Fistula in an African Buffalo (Syncerus caffer)

        A three-month-old female African buffalo born at Seoul Zoo showed signs of abdominal distension, bulgingof the perineal skin, and small stool volume compared to feed intake. Upon physical examination, atresia ani withrectovaginal fistula was diagnosed. This case was subjected to surgery under inhalation anesthesia after injecting asedative. Surgery was performed in two steps: anal reconstruction and closing the rectovaginal fistula. First, a circularskin incision was made at the end of the rectal pouch to create an anus, and then the skin of the anus and the mucousmembrane of the rectum were brought into apposition by simple interrupted sutures. Second, the rectovaginal fistulawas ligated on both vulval and anal side. Antibiotics were administered on every alternate day and the sutures wereremoved at ten days surgery under sedation. The rectovaginal communication was closed and the calf was able tourinate and defecate normally. The animal grew to become a normal adult without any complications. This is thefirst case report of atresia ani with rectovaginal fistula in an African buffalo, that was successfully treated by surgicalintervention.
