        Determination of the Local Symmetry and the Multiferroic-ferromagnetic Crossover in Ni<sub>3−x</sub>Co<sub>x</sub>V<sub>2</sub>O<sub>8</sub> by Using Raman Scattering Spectroscopy

        Comprehensive vibrational studies on the multiferroic-to-normal-ferromagnetic crossover in isostructural Ni<sub>3−x</sub>Co<sub>x</sub>V<sub>2</sub>O<sub>8</sub> (NCVO, x = 0 ?3.0) are performed using Raman scattering spectroscopy. The systematically red-shifted phonon modes are discussed in terms of the mode Gr쮞neisen parameters, and are interpreted as a chemical pressure effect. In addition, we present evidence that the local symmetry is broken in the multiferroic phase.

        통제영 12공방 폐영(廢營) 이후 전통문화 계승에 관한 고찰 - 근・현대 옻칠 전승교육과 전승자중심으로 -

        통영의 나전칠기는 색과 광채가 뛰어난 최고의 나전과 지리산 등 인근 지역에서 채취한 질 좋은 옻칠로 만들어져 최고의 품질로 인정받는 한국의 대표 공예 예술품이다. 뿐만 아니라 300여 년간 이어온 통제영 12공방에서의 체계적인 상호분업 과 협업은 한국 옻칠예의 중심으로 인정받는 원동력이자 그 근간이 되고 근·현대 우리나라 옻칠예의 뿌리가 된다. 본 논문은 통제영 12공방의 설영과 폐영을 분석하고 이후 한국 근대 통영나전칠기의 교육과 주요 장인들을 연구하고 서술 하여 전승교육과 전승자 계승의 중요성을 연구하였다. 통제영 폐영 이후 개화와 식민지교육으로 나전칠기의 부정적인 면이 도출되었다. 그러나 교육기관 설립과 전승교육을 기반으로 통영 장인의 끊임없는 창작과 생산의 노력은 한국 전통나전칠기 의 전통성과 독창적인 예술품 제작으로 계승될 수 있었다. 따라서 침체된 통영나전칠기의 부흥을 위해 국가기관은 물론 지 방기초단체를 중심으로 체계적인 디자인교육과 전승교육이 절실하며, 정통성과 예술성을 지닌 나전칠기 예술가로 발전할 수 있도록 우리 고유의 전통성을 현대사회의 요구에 맞게 새롭게 창조하고 계승하는 지속적인 노력이 필요하다. Tongyoung's ottchil-ware is one of Korea's leading arts and crafts products, which are made of high quality ottchil, which has been collected from neighboring areas of Mt. Jiri. In addition, the systematic mutual division and collaboration in Tongjeyoung 12 workshops that have existed for over 400 years is the driving force that is recognized as the center of Korean ottchil cases, and it becomes the foundation and the root of the ottchil examples of modern Korea. In this paper, it was analyzed the construction and the abandonment of Tongjeyoung 12 workshops, and then studied the importance and transmission training and succession of the transmitter, also by studying and describing the education and major artisans of the Korean modern Tongyeong ottchil-ware. The negative aspects of ottchil-ware were derived from flowering and colonial education after the abolishment of the Tongjeyoung. However, Tongyoung artisans' endless creative and production efforts based on the establishment of educational institutions and tradition education could be succeeded by traditional ottchil-ware and artwork. Therefore, in order to revive the stagnant Tongyeong ottchil-ware, systematic design education and tradition education are urgently needed, especially in the local institutions as well as the local organizations. In addition, continuous efforts are needed to create and inherit our own tradition to meet the needs of modern society so that could develop into artists of ottchil-ware inlaid with mother-of-pearl artist with legitimacy and artistry.

        Soft Modes and Local Structural Transitions in Pb-free Ba(Ti<SUB>0.8</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.2</SUB>)O<SUB>3-<I>x</I></SUB>(Ba<SUB>0.7</SUB>Ca<SUB>0.3</SUB>)TiO<SUB>3</SUB> (<I>x</I> = 0.5): Pressure- and Temperature-dependent Raman Studies

        We report our Raman studies of new lead-free relaxor ferroelectrics, Ba<SUB>0.85</SUB>Ca<SUB>0.15</SUB>Ti<SUB>0.9</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.1</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> (BCTZO). The Raman modes of BCTZO are compared with those of BaTi<SUB>0.8</SUB>Zr<SUB>0.2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> (BTZO), and BaTiO<SUB>3</SUB> (BTO). Also they are compared with eigenmodes of BTO, calculated with <I>ab-initio</I> quantum-mechanical frozen-phonon-method. The sharp mode at 321 cm<SUP>-1</SUP> of BTO, reported as a coupled mode showing an interference effect, becomes broad in BTZO and BCTZO progressively. This behavior, together with a broadening of 527 cm<SUP>-1</SUP> mode, suggests the mode-coupling is weakened in BTZO and BCTZO. The structural transitions of BCTZO were investigated as functions of pressure, below 20 GPa, and of temperature, below 600 K. Three characteristic pressure-induced transitions were found at 2.5, 5.0, and 13.0 GPa. The transitions are suggested from the drastic changes in phonon modes: two softening modes, at ~ 300 and ~ 530 cm<SUP>-1</SUP>, and transformation of intensity profile. Temperature-induced transition was found at Curie temperature ~ 380 K, where average structure changes from tetragonal to cubic. It accompanies a softening mode at ~ 530 cm<SUP>-1</SUP>. Phonon spectrum of BCTZO suggests its local environment is close to BTZO. However, the characteristic pressures of BCTZO are close to those of BTO. The sequence of pressure-induced transitions of both BCTZO and BTZO illustrate that there is rich interplay between long-range averaged structure and short-range local order, such that four distinguishable phases are suggested: tetragonal, locally ordered but compensated cubic, disordered cubic, and ideal cubic structure. We found that the critical pressures are plausibly related to the average crystal lattice.

        관상동맥 누공에 의한 급성 심근 경색 1예

        관상동맥 동정맥루 기형은 매우 드문 질환으로 치료가 불필요한 경우가 대부분이나 coronary steal 현상으로 인해 증상이 발생하거나 합병증이 발생한 환자에 대해선 치료를 요한다. 최근에는 시술에 적합한 누공을 가진 선택된 환자군을 대상으로 카테터를 이용한 중재적 시술이 시행되어 수술적 치료와 유사한 결과를 얻고 있다. 저자들은 젊은 남자에서 관상동맥 동정맥루 기형과 동반된 급성 심근 경색증을 진단하여 비 수술적 방법인 카테타 코일 색전술로 성공적 치료 후 증상 및 심근 재관류에 호전을 보인 증례를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. We report a case of coronary fistula between the left anterior descending and main pulmonary artery complicating acute non-Q wave myocardial infarction. A 27-year-old man visited emergency department because of severe chest pain lasting two hours. The electrocardiogram showed ST segment elevation in precordial leads V3~6. Cardiac enzymes were as follows;CK-MB:36.44 IU/L T-T:0.489 ng/mL, CPK:542 IU/L, and LDH:475 IU/L. The thallium-201 dipyridamole stress perfusion scan showed perfusion defect and reversed redistribution in the anteroseptal wall. The coronary angiogram revealed coronary artery fistula between the proximal left anterior descending artery and main pulmonary artery without significant stenoses of coronary arteries. The result of ergonovine test was negative. After micro-coil embolization to the coronary fistula, symptoms were improved. Follow-up thallium-201 scan showed normalized blood flow in the left anteroseptal wall.

        옻칠문화계승을 위한 통제영 12공방에 관한 연구 - 상・하칠방의 옻칠예가 타 공방에 끼친 영향을 중심으로 -

        통영 옻칠은 한국 칠예의 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있는데, 그 배경에는 1593년 삼도 수군 통제영 설영과 숙련된 장인들로 구성된 통제영12공방을 통해서 격상되었다. 본 논문은 통제영 12공방에서 상·하칠방의 기능과 역할을 재조명하고 옻칠예의 전통성이 자생적으로 발전하고 타 공방에 어떤 영향을 끼쳤는가를 연구하기 위해서 통제영12공방의 역사를 고찰하였고, 각 공방의 기능을 분석하는 과정을 통해 12공방의 체계적인 분업과 협업을 통해 칠예의 확산과 발전이 어떻게 이루어졌는지를 연구하였다. 이 연구를 통해 12공방에서 옻칠은 체계적인 분업과 협업을 통해서 그 쓰임이 아주 많아지면서 옻칠의 확산과 발전이 두드려지게 되고, 여러 공방과 상호분업 및 협업체제를 통해서 방수기능과 항균성, 보존성을 높이면서 여러 제품생산의 중심이 되었다. 상·하칠방의 옻칠은 이런 영향으로 17세기 통제영 공방이 설치된 직후부터는 독립된 칠방으로 운영되었다. 이는 상호분업과 협업으로 완성되는 체제가 결국 옻칠재료의 특수성과 옻칠의 예술성이 첨가되어 제품의 기초가 되고 바탕이 되어 마감의 역할과 장식의 역할을 하는 주도적 역할을 하였음을 알 수 있다. 또한, 화원방의 역할로 추정되는 각종 제품의 장식성을 높여주는 디자인 개념의 밑그림은 각종 수공예품의 예술성으로 격상시켜 지금까지 전승되어지고 있다. 따라서 통영 칠예의 원형복원과 창조적인 계승발전을 위해서는 지난날 통제영 12공방의 상호분업과 협업의 정신을 되살리는 노력이 필요하다. Tongyoung lacquer-ware(Ottchil) occupies an important position in Korea's lacquer Art. In the background, it has been upgraded through the Tongjeyoung workshop consisting of 12 skilled craftsmen and 1593 Samdo naval Tongjeyoung set-up. In this paper, it was investigated the history of Tongjeyoung 12 workshop to study the refocus the roles and functions of the upper and lower Chilbang, where expert in making lacquered objects, in Tongjeyoung 12 workshops and how the lacquer art affect on tradition evolves spontaneously and another workshop. Through the process of analyzing the function of each workshop, the diffusion and development of the lacquer art were studied through systematic division of labor and collaboration of 12 workshops. As a result, the lacquer in the 12 workshops has been widely used through systematic division of labor and collaboration, and the spread and development of lacquer has become striking. Through various workshops, mutual division of labor and cooperation system, waterproof function, antibacterial property, It became the center of product production. The lacquer in the upper and the lower Chilbang was operated as an independent Chilbang after the establishment of the Tongjeyoung workshop in the 17th century. It can be seen the system that is completed by mutual division of labor and collaboration played a leading role and the role of decoration and as the basis of the product by adding the lacquer material specificity and the artistry of lacquer. In addition, the sketch of the design concept that enhances the ornamentality of various products, which are presumed to be the role of the Hwa-won-bang(atelier), has been handed down to the artistry of various handicrafts until now. Therefore, in order to restore the original shape of the Tongyeong lacquer art and to develop the creative succession, it is necessary to revive the spirit of mutual division of labor and cooperation in Tongjeyoung 12 workshops.

        단식중인 흰쥐에서 지방섭취가 생존 대사에 미치는 영향

        완전 단식군의 흰쥐(FO)와 단식중에 소기름(FT), 옥수수기름(FC), 들깨기름(FP)만을 각각 투여하고 비교하니 FO군은 대부분 6일까지 생존하고 FT, FC, FP군은 대부분 16일까지 생존하였다. 폐사 직전의 모든 흰쥐 체중은 -24.5~-25%로 감소되었다. 단식중 유지 섭취는 다소 생명을 연장하나 식이 유지 종류에 따른 생존기간과 체중 변화에 미치는 영향에는 괄목할 차이가 없었다. 간장과 신장 무게 변화도 체중변화와 유사한 양상을 보였다. FO군의 혈중 총 cholesterol 농도, 중성지방 농도, 혈당은 대폭 감소되고 GPT 활성값과 BUN 농도는 상당 수준으로 증가되었다. FC군과 FP군에서 유지의 n-6/n-3비율 혹은 불포화도 특성 차이가 총 cholesterol농도, 중성지방농도, 혈당농도, BUN농도, 단식 초기의 GPT활성도에 영향을 주지 못했다. 그러나 기아사 직전의 FP군에서 GPT활성도가 FT, FC군보다 높았다. 본 연구에서 결론은 기아 상태의 흰쥐에 유지 단독 섭취는 유지 종류에 관계없이 생존일수를 다소 비슷하게 연장하였고 n-6/n-3비율, 불포화도 특성차이가 전반적으로 단식중의 대사에 미치는 영향에서 별다른 차이가 없었음을 알 수 있었다. To investigate the effects of different type of dietary fat on survival metabolism of fasting rats, one group rats (FO) were fasted, another one group rats (BM) were fed normal diet and the others were fed only one of the following fat diets: beef tallow (FT), corn oil (FC), and perilla oil (FP) of 11.4 g/kg respectively. Most FO group rats survived for 6 days and large part of the only-fat-diet groups rats survived for 16 days. Body weights of all rats in fasting and only-fat-groups, measured just one day prior to death owing to fasting or caloric malnutrition, decreased by 24.5%~25%. Feeding only-fat to fasing rat somewhat extended the survival time but the specific properties of dietary fat types had no remarkably differential effect on survival time and body weight gain rate. The features of liver and kidney weight gain rate of all rats in fasting and only-fat-diet groups were similar to those of body weight gain rate. In FO groups blood levels of total-cholesterol, triglyceride, and glucose markedly reduced whereas GPT activities and BUN levels considerably increased as compared to BM group. However the types of dietary fat per se did not affect blood total cholesterol, triglyceride, glucose, BUN levels, and GPT activities in early stage of fasting in FC and FP group. GPT activities in rats of FP group just prior to death of starvation seemed to be affected by the dietary fat types. The results showed that only-fat-feeding to fasting rats somewhat extended survival time but the types of dietary fat had no remarkably differential effect on survival time and metabolism of fasting rats.

      • Comparison of Ginseng Saponin Effects on the Isolated Aortic Contractile Response Between Spontaneously Hypertensive and Normotensive Rats

        본 연구에서는 인삼사포닌 성분 즉, 총인삼사포닌(GTS), panaxadiol-type saponin (PDS) 및 panaxatriol-type saponin (PTS)이 정상 혈압쥐(NR) 및 자연발증 고혈압쥐(SHR)의 대동맥편에서 혈관수축약물의 수축반응에 대한 영향을 관찰하고자 시도하였으며, 얻어진 연구결과는 다음과 같다. Phenylephrine (아드레날린성 α_1-수용체 효능약)과 고농도 칼륨 (막탈분극약)은 NR 및 SHR의 대동맥편에서 각각 현저한 혈관수축반응을 나타내었다. 이들의 수축반응은 SHR보다 NR에서 현저하게 나타났다. NR에서 고농도 칼륨(5.6x10^-2 M)에 의한 혈관수축반응은 GTS(300 g/ml), PDS(300 g/ml) 및 PTS(300 g/ml)의 존재 하에서 각각 별다른 영향을 받지 않았다. 반면에, phenylephrine (10^-6 M)에 의한 혈관수축반응은 현저하게 억제되었다. SHR에서 고농도 칼륨(5.6x10^-2 M)에 의한 혈관수축반응은 GTS(300 g/ml), PDS(300 g/ml) 및 PTS(300 g/ml)의 존재하에서 각각 별다른 영향을 받지 않았으나 고농도의 PTS(600 g/ml)의 전처치에 의해서 유의하게 억제되었다. Phenylephrine (10^-6 M)에 의한 혈관수축반응은 PTS의 전처치에 의해서 용량 의존적(150-600 g/ml)으로 유의하게 억제되었으나 GTS(300 g/ml) 나 PDS(300 g/ml)의 존재 하에서는 별다른 영향을 받지 않았다. 이상과 같은 실험 결과를 종합하여 보면, 인삼사포닌 성분은 흰쥐 적출 대동맥편에서 아드레날린성 1-아드레날린 수용체 차단작용과 일부 미지의 기전에 의해서 혈관이완작용을 일으키며, 이러한 인삼사포닌 성분에 대한 반응에서 NR과 SHR간에 혈관 평활근의 감수성의 차이가 있는 것으로 생각된다. 또한 인삼사포닌 성분 중 PTS가 혈관이완작용에 대한 효력이 가장 큰 것으로 사료된다. The present study was attempted to investigate the effects of total ginseng saponin (GTS), panaxadiol-type (PDS) and panaxatriol-type saponin (PDS) on contractile responses of vasoconstrictors in aortic smooth muscle stripes of normotensive (NR) and spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR). Phenylephrine (an adrenergic α1-receptor agonist) and high potassium (a membrane depolarizing agent) caused greatly contractile responses in both NR and SHR aorta, respectively. Phenylephrine- and high potassium-induced contractile responses were greater in NR than those in SHR aortic smooth muscle stripes. In NR, the contractile responses of high potassium (5.6 ×10^-2 M) were not affected in the presence of GTS (300 ㎍/ml), PDS (300 ㎍/ml), and PTS (300 ㎍/ml), respectively whereas phenylephrine (10^-6 M) - induced contractile responses were markedly inhibited. In SHR, the contractile responses of high potassium (5.6×10^-2 M) were not affected in the presence of GTS (300 ㎍/ml), PDS (300 ㎍/ml), and moderate doses of PTS (150-300 ㎍/ml), respectively but greatly blocked by high concentration of PTS (600 ㎍/ml). Phenylephrine (10-6 ㎛)-induced contractile responses were inhibited in a dose dependent fashion (150-600 ㎍/ml) by the pretreatment with PTS while not altered in the presence of GTS (300 ㎍/ml) and PDS (300 ㎍/ml), respectively. Taken together, these experimental results suggest that ginseng saponins cause vascular relaxation through blockade of adrenergic α1-receptors and some unknown mechanisms, and that there is some difference in sensitivity of vascular smooth muscle between NR and SHR in responses to ginseng saponins. It seems that panaxatriol type of some ginseng saponins has the greatest potency in vascular relaxation.

        우측 수신증을 동반한 골반내 방선균증 1예

        Pelvic actinomycosis is a chronic granulomatous suppurative disease caused by an anaerobic grampositive organism Actinomyces israelii. It is com-monly associated with an intrauterine device(IUD) and can mimick pelvic or intra-abdominal malignant neoplasm. Ureteral obstruction leading to hydronephrosis is a rare complication of tubo-ovarian abscess. We experienced a case of hydronephrosis as a complication of pelvic actinomycotic abscess. The patient was a 46-year-old women presenting with fever and right flank pain. Leukocytosis and pyuria were present and a hydronephrosis was diagnosed by intravenous pyelography. Ultrasonography and a computerised tomography revealed a mass in right adnexum compressing the right ureter. Removal of retroperitoneal abscess and salphingo-oophorectomy were done and the diagnosis of actinomycosis was made by pathologic finding of resected mass. Postoperatively, the patient was treated with second-generation cephalosporin successfully. (Korean J Nephrol 2002;21(2):337-340)

        Provinol Inhibits Catecholamine Secretion from the Rat Adrenal Medulla

        The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of provinol, which is a mixture of polyphenolic compounds from red wine, on the secretion of catecholamines (CA) from isolated perfused rat adrenal medulla, and to elucidate its mechanism of action. Provinol (0.3∼3μg/ml) perfused into an adrenal vein for 90 min dose- and time-dependently inhibited the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh (5.32 mM), high K+ (a direct membrane-depolarizer, 56 mM), DMPP (a selective neuronal nicotinic NN receptor agonist, 100μM) and McN-A-343 (a selective muscarinic M1 receptor agonist, 100μM). Provinol itself did not affect basal CA secretion. Also, in the presence of provinol (1μg/ml), the secretory responses of CA evoked by Bay-K-8644 (a voltage-dependent L-type dihydropyridine Ca2+ channel activator, 10μM), cyclopiazonic acid (a cytoplasmic Ca2+-ATPase inhibitor, 10μM) and veratridine (an activator of voltage-dependent Na+ channels, 10μM) were significantly reduced. Interestingly, in the simultaneous presence of provinol (1μg/ml) plus L-NAME (a selective inhibitor of NO synthase, 30μM), the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh, high K+, DMPP, McN-A-343, Bay-K-8644 and cyclpiazonic acid recovered to the considerable extent of the corresponding control secretion in comparison with the inhibition of provinol-treatment alone. Under the same condition, the level of NO released from adrenal medulla after the treatment of provinol (3μg/ml) was greatly elevated in comparison to its basal release. Taken together, these data demonstrate that provinol inhibits the CA secretory responses evoked by stimulation of cholinergic (both muscarinic and nicotinic) receptors as well as by direct membrane-depolarization from the perfused rat adrenal medulla. This inhibitory effect of provinol seems to be exerted by inhibiting the influx of both calcium and sodium into the rat adrenal medullary cells along with the blockade of Ca2+ release from the cytoplasmic calcium store at least partly through the increased NO production due to the activation of nitric oxide synthase.

      • 염증성 장질환과 유사한 임상양상을 보인 회맹판에 발생한 대장암 1예

        Adenocarcinoma of the ileocecal valve is rare. It's clinical manifestations are non-specific such as intestinal intussusception, obstruction and right lower abdominal discomfort according to type of cancer. Particularly infiltrative type carcinoma of the ileocecal valve may be easily misdiagnosed as inflammatory bowel disease by radiological imagings and clinical symptoms. We experienced one case of adenocarcinoma of the ileocecal valve mimiking inflammatory bowel disease in radiological features. Colonoscopic findings also could not differentiate malignancy with chronic inflammatory condition. We report a case of adenocarcinoma of the ileocecal valve, which endoscopic findings mimic chronic inflammatory disease, with a review of literature. (Korean J Gastrointest Endosc 2002;25:232-236) 회맹판에서 발생한 대장암은 매우 드물다. 임상 양상 또한 대장암의 형태에 따라 장중첩증, 장폐쇄증 혹은 우하복부 동통 등 비특이적이다. 특히 맹장 또는 회맹판에서 침윤성 병변을 보이는 대장암의 경우는 대장조영술이나 복부 전산화 단층촬영술만으로는 결핵성 장염, 크론병 등과의 감별이 어려우며, 임상증상 또한 유사하다. 59세 여자 환자가 간헐적인 구토 및 우하복부 동통을 주소로 내원하여 복부 초음파 검사, 대장 조영술 및 복부 전산화단층촬영 결과 염증성 장질환과 감별이 어려웠으나, 대장 내시경 조직검사에서 선암으로 진단되고 수술 결과 회맹판에 발생한 침윤성 대장암으로 확진한 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
