수출회화로서 기산 김준근(箕山 金俊根) 풍속화 연구

Kim, Jun-Geun(Gisan) was a late 19th century Chosen dynasty painter who created numerous genre paintings for West European clients in the newly opened treaty ports of Wonsan, Busan and Inchon. The treaty ports in the late 19th century Chosen represented of the crossroads the economy, values, and the institutions of the West European powers. In particular, the agriculture-based economy, Confucianism, and land-owner noble class started being eroded by a commerce-based economy, the values of Christianity, West European institution, and a new class of people who amassed wealth from commerce. As Kim, Jun-Geun's paintings were created for sale to West European clients, they exhibit characteristics that are distinct from the traditional genre paintings in terms of presentation style and the selection of the subject matters. The export genre painting originated in the 18th century around Guangdong, China. Broadly, there are two styles of genre paintings: the Guangzhou style and Ningbo style. Kim, Jun-Geun's paintings resemble the Ningbo style. The Ningbo style tends to highlight the main subjects, form an album of small paintings, and provide a simple treatment of the scenes without the background. Kim, Jun-Geun's paintings cover most aspects of life of common people of his time, ranging well beyond the subjects matters of the traditional genre paintings. His subject matters include the scenes of funeral, folk games, Buddhist and ancestor worship, prison and punishment, shaman custom, debauchees, government officials' formal trips, beggars and handicapped, etc. Many of the subjects are the neglected and the oppressed of the society. And he presents in detail the dress and its ornament that the subjects wear, and all the utensils and things around them. Besides, his subjects' faces are generally expressionless, and their postures are stiff; as such, the feeling of liveliness or movement is lacking. It may be the results of Kim, Jun-Geun's taking the other perspective, namely of his West European clients, rather than his own. The adoption of the other perspective may in turn be a product of the Social Darwinism and the new sense of values that accompanied the infusion of Christianity and West European institutions. Kim, Jun-Geun's portrayals of his subjects appear to reflect the attributes with which the West European Orientalists' of the period characterized the people of the Far East, namely, backwardness, barbarity, irrationality, violence, and mysticism.

Phentermine 및 Phendimetrazine으로 유발된 정신병적 장애 및 양극성 장애 증례군 연구

Objectives Recently, weight loss has emerged as a national concern in South Korea, and this has resulted in an increase in the frequency of use of central nervous system (CNS)-stimulating appetite suppressants. This study aimed to collect cases of psychotic disorders and bipolar disorders triggered by phentermine and phendimetrazine and explore the clinical features and courses. Methods In this retrospective study, we analyzed the electronic medical records of patients and selected eight patients who developed psychotic symptoms and manic symptoms for the first time after taking phentermine and phendimetrazine. All cases were reviewed, and their clinical features and course were summarized. Results All eight patients developed psychotic symptoms, and one had accompanying manic symptoms. The final diagnosis was appetite-suppressant-induced psychotic disorder in four patients, schizophrenia in three, and appetite-suppressant-induced bipolar disorder in one. In addition, three patients were diagnosed as having substance-use disorder. The key psychotic symptoms of these patients were hallucinations and paranoia. Conclusions These case findings suggest that phentermine and phendimetrazine can cause psychotic disorder, bipolar disorder, or substance use disorder and that medical professionals and the public should practice caution when prescribing and using these drugs.

Venous Thromboembolism Risk in Asian Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Population-Based Nationwide Inception Cohort Study

Background/Aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is associated with the occurrence of venous thromboembolism (VTE). However, to date, there have been few studies on the risk of VTE in Asian IBD patients. We aimed to estimate the incidence of VTE in Asian IBD patients and to determine if IBD is related to increased VTE risk. Methods: We performed a population-based cohort study between 2004 and 2015 using Korean National Health Insurance data. IBD and VTE were defined by ICD-10 codes. Incidence rates of VTE were calculated among patients with IBD and among age- and sex-matched controls. Hazard ratios were estimated using Cox regression with adjustment for multiple variables. We performed additional analyses stratifying by age, sex, Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) score, and disease type. Results: Among the 45,037 patients with IBD (IBD cohort) and 133,019 matched controls (non- IBD cohort) included in our analysis, 411 IBD patients and 641 controls developed VTE. The IBD cohort had a higher incidence rate ratio and risk of VTE than the non-IBD cohort (incidence rate ratio: 1.92 and hazard ratio: 1.93). Older age, female sex, higher CCI scores, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, use of steroids, and hospitalization were significant risk factors for VTE in patients with IBD. Conclusions: The IBD patients in this study were approximately two times more likely to develop VTE than the non-IBD individuals. Our findings support the need for thromboprophylaxis in Asian IBD patients with various factors that further increase the risk of VTE.

임의형상 파샬플륨에 대한 무차원 유량공식 산정

유량측정방법 중에서 파샬플륨을 이용하는 방법은 유속이 매우 느리거나 토사유입이 많은 지점에서 상대적으로 유리하다. 국제표준화기구(ISO : International Organization for Standardization)에 파샬플륨의 규모별 규격화된 경험식이 제시되어 있지만, 규격을 따르지 않는 파샬플륨에 대한 수리실험이나 수치모의를 통한 연구는 다소 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 ISO 규격 파샬플륨에 대하여 경험식과 수치모의를 비교하여 파샬플륨에 대한 수치모의의 적정성을 검토하였고 현장 여건 등의 이유로 ISO 규격을 따르지 않는 파샬플륨은 유량산정공식을 얻기 위해서 수리실험을 수행해야만 했다. 이러한 임의형상의 파샬플륨에 대하여 동일 조건의 수리실험 및 수치모의 결과를 비교 검토하였다. 그 결과 수치모의가 파샬플륨의 수심과 유량을 적절하게 모의하고 있음을 확인하였다. 이 결과를 이용하여 임의형상에 대한 무차원 유량산정공식을 도출하였으며, 식을 통해 산정된 값과 실험값을 비교하였다. 그 결과 오차는 최대 2.3%로 나타났다. 파샬플륨의 규모결정시 실제 지형과 유입부 형상 등을 고려한 수치모의를 수행한다면 수치모의에 기초한 유량산정공식을 쉽게 도출 할 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 복잡한 수행과정으로 인해 오차가 발생하기 쉬운 수리모형실험을 경제적으로 보완할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. Parshall flume is more practical one of hydraulic structures for measuring flowrate in open channels and also has more advantages when the magnitude of flow velocity is relatively lower or much more sediments are brought from upstream. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has suggested the empirical formulas standardized by the sizes and dimensions of Parshall flume. However, the related studies using the numerical simulations and experiments are relatively rare. Therefore, in this study, it was examined whether the numerical simulation was adequacy for reproducing the hydraulic characteristics of Parshall flume as much as laboratory experiments by comparing the results from numerical simulations and empirical equation. And for arbitrary Parshall flume, that is unlisted in the ISO standards due to environmental conditions, constructional difficulties etc, thus, the hydraulic experiments should be conducted to obtain the empirical formulas for it, the results from numerical simulations were compared with those of laboratory experiments. Consequently, it was convinced that the numerical simulation about Parshall flume was simulated appropriately instead of experimental approach. And the dimensionless discharge equation of arbitrary ones was suggested using the results of numerical simulations, and the equation was validated by comparing with laboratory experimental results showing the maximum relative error of 2.3%. If the actual topography, the shape of inlet and submerged flow, which is excluded in this study, were carefully considered, it would be possible to supply a simple empirical discharge equation based on numerical results. Also, it can replete hard works for hydraulic experiment being error-prone with complex procedures to a minimum of economic effort.

만성 화농성 중이염에 동반된 이진균증 환자 한방 치료 1례

본 연구는 대전대학교 대전한방병원 한방안이비인후 피부과에 만성 화농성 중이염에 동반된 이진균증으로 입원 및 통원 치료를 받은 환자 1례를 보고한다. 본 증례의 환자는 상기 증상으로 한방 단독 치료를 시행한 환자로서 침, 약침, 전침, 뜸, 한약, 사혈, 습식 부항 및 한방 외용제 치료를 시행하였다. 초진 시 호소한 좌측 귀의 소양감, 통증, 이명, 충만감 및 농성 이루는 호전된 상태로 퇴원하였고, 이후 통원 치료를 통하여 잔여 증상의 호전 및 이진균증의 소실도 확인되었다. 본 연구는 이진균증 치료에 일차적으로 적용하는 항진균제의 사용 없이 한방 단독 치료로 호전을 보였다는 점과 항진균 효과를 위해 국소 한방 외용제를 사용하였다는 점에서 이후 이진균증의 한방 치료 효과를 평가하는 추가 연구에 유의미한 자료로 사용될 것으로 사료된다. Objectives : Otomycosis is superficial fungal infection of external auditory canal accompanied with itching, pain, discharge, hearing loss, tinnitus and ear fullness. And chronic inflammation like chronic suppurative otitis media exacerbates otomycosis. The purpose of this study is to report one case of Korean medical treatment for otomycosis with chronic suppurative otitis media. Methods : This study was conducted with one case of otomycosis with chronic suppurative otitis media patient hospitalized in Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology & Dermatology Clinic of Korean medical Hospital. This patient was treated with Korean medical treatment including herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture and venesection. After the treatment, we took picture of external auditory canal by otoscope and evaluated subjective symptoms. Results : After the treatment, this patient had improved condition of external auditory canal and subjective symptoms. Conclusions : This study suggests that Korean medical treatment may be effective for otomycosis with chronic suppurative otitis media.

열유동을 고려한 SMC 압축성형공정의 3차원 유한요소 해석

SMC(Sheet molding compound) is a thermosetting material reinforced with chopped fiberglass. The compression molding of SMC was analyzed based on a rigid thermo-viscoplastic approach using a three dimensional finite element program coupled with temperatures. Only the temperature analysis part was tested in this paper by solving one-dimensional heat transfer problem and comparing with the exact solutions available in the literature. Based on this comparison the program was proved to be valid and was further applied in solving compression molding of SMC between flat dies. To investigate the usefulness of a rigid thermo-viscoplastic approach in the compression molding analysis of SMC charge, compression of rectangular shaped SMC charge at plane strain and three dimensionalde formation condition was analyzed under the same condition as given in the literature. From this comparison it was found out that the rigid thermo-viscoplastic approach was useful in analyzing SMC compression molding between flat dies.
